Work Text:
01.
Leaning back on her chair, Regina Mills couldn’t help but crack a smile. It was midday on a Monday which was notoriously the busiest day for the Mayor's Office. Everything had gone smoothly today, starting from the morning.
Henry had been in a good mood and they had made breakfast together. He was now a teenager and his usual mood was nowhere near as good, both mothers walking on a minefield of teenage angst. But today he had been attentive and willing to learn the world of Mills culinary miracles.
The sun had shown itself when Regina had driven to work, making her mood lift even higher. And when she made it in, Kathryn had already prepared her paperwork and schedule. Hiring her friend to be her assistant had been the best idea she had had in a while as they knew each other well and working together was easy.
So the day as the Mayor of the small town had flown by smoothly, without problems and the added stress that Storybrooke was generally able to produce.
As the lunch time rolled around, Regina was ready to get up and head to Granny’s. She was more than ready for some food and if she was lucky, she was going to have some company.
A blush crept on her face as she thought about who the potential company could be. Not only was she coparenting with their resident Savior but she might also be slightly smitten with her. But only slightly. And only smitten.
It was like her thoughts summoned the blonde haired woman because as soon as Regina shook her head to rid her thoughts of Emma Swan, the door to her office opened.
The blonde hair that usually swept everywhere and smelled like the sweetest conditioner was wet and getting stuck to the pale face. The Storybrooke issued Sheriff’s jacket was a shade darker than it usually was and there was a slight slurping sound as the woman in question took steps further into the room.
Regina stood up quickly and hurried to meet the woman. She couldn’t help but feel worried because Emma was shaking slightly, her entire being soaked to the bone.
“What happened to you?” The words rushed out of her mouth as she took a hold of one of the hands that were hanging limply to Emma’s side. It was ice cold and the concern was flaring even higher inside of her.
“It…” Emma’s teeth were clanking together and she tried to swallow down her shivers before continuing. “Rained.”
It made sense considering Emma was soaked but Regina turned to look outside of her window anyway. She hadn’t noticed when the sunshine of the morning had turned into a downpour.
Pulling Emma along by the hand, she led her to the couch that oversaw the massive fireplace. With a flick of her wrist a full flame appeared in it and instantly started to warm the space. Positioning Emma in front of it to warm up, she gently pulled at the sleeves of her jacket to get it off her shivering Sheriff.
It came off rather easily, as did the hoodie that was underneath it and Emma was left in her jeans and tank top. With a wave of her wrist the clothes started to dry, little by little but the other woman needed to remain by the fire to get the warmth back into her body.
Emma was standing by the fire like a statue, trying to get her body back under her control. Occasional shivers still rocked through her but her cheeks were starting to gain color again. She was however much quieter than normally, which gave Regina pause.
Something must be wrong.
Coming to stand in front of the blonde woman, she gently pressed her backwards by her shoulder. She pressed long enough until her Sheriff sat down on the couch. Sitting next to her, they remained quiet, just staring into the flames.
“It has been a shitty day.”
Regina hoped Emma didn’t notice her sigh of relief. Silence was never a good sign when it came to Emma Swan and hearing her voice now made her feel just slightly less concerned.
“Why?” She wanted to hear more but she didn’t want to push.
“First I got coffee spilled on me at Granny’s this morning.” Emma sighed, leaning back on the couch. “Then I kept getting calls all over town and the things people in this town need are sometimes so stupid.” She lifted a hand to her forehead to rub it. “And then when I was finally going to come and invite you for lunch, the skies opened and I got soaked. And it’s so bloody cold out there, Regina! You couldn’t have cursed Storybrooke to be in California instead?”
That made Regina chuckle. She knew many people wondered that and it had not even been the first time Emma brought it up but she herself had always enjoyed the chill and that had been part of the reason why her town was located the way it was.
Then the rest of Emma’s story hit her.
She had been on her way to see her and to invite her to lunch.
That made her heart soar just a little bit.
“You wanted to have lunch with me?” Regina asked, wanting to confirm what she had heard.
“Yes.” Emma nodded, looking down.
“I can arrange that.” Regina tried to play down her delight but she couldn’t push down the smile that spread on her lips. “Just wait here and get warm.”
And with those words she disappeared in purple smoke only to appear in the middle of Granny’s. Lunch was in full swing but most people had already ordered and were finishing up their meals. Regina walked to the counter and before she could open her mouth, Ruby beat her to it.
“Have you seen Emma today?”
“Yes, Miss Lucas. I have indeed.” Regina narrowed her eyes. “She told me about the coffee incident this morning.” She didn’t know details and while she liked Ruby, right now her hackles were raised as the wolf had unconsciously caused the Sheriff distress.
Ruby looked remorseful. “I wanted to cheer her up because she said she hasn’t really been sleeping. But I had too many things going on and ended up spilling the coffee all over the counter and Emma was an innocent bystander.”
Emma not being able to sleep was news to Regina and her earlier concern was back in full force. They were friends but the blonde hadn’t mentioned anything and they talked daily.
“I wanted to apologize by giving her lunch on the house but she hasn’t appeared yet.” Ruby continued, having not noticed that Regina zoned out for a bit.
“That is actually why I’m here. I’d like to order both mine and the Sheriff's usuals. To go.” Regina spoke in the most professional voice she could muster but as Ruby started smirking wider and wider, it became almost impossible for Regina to keep the blush from appearing on her face.
“To go, huh?”
“Now, if you’d please, Miss Lucas.” Regina was getting impatient, not wanting to stand here getting smirked at by Ruby Lucas.
“Right away, Madam Mayor.” Ruby has the audacity to wink before walking to the kitchen to place their order. When she returned she waved away Regina’s attempt to pay for their meals and instead she set out to make their drinks.
Before long she had a big take out bag in her other hand and a tray of drinks in another and she shot a dirty look at Ruby who cackled as she disappeared in a cloud of purple.
Appearing in the middle of her office she couldn’t deny the excited beats of her heart at the chance to spend time with Emma. Turning towards the still roaring fire, she opened her mouth to say something but Emma was nowhere to be seen.
Looking around the office she still saw the jacket where she left it on one of the chairs as well as the hoodie. So wherever Emma had gone, she had gone without proper clothes.
Regina rounded the couch to place the food down so she could free a hand to call Emma, but a sudden snore nearly made her drop everything. Twirling around, everything in her softened.
Emma had laid down on the couch, having stolen one of the decorative pillows to put under her head. Her hair was slowly drying, getting curlier and her face looked calm. Like there was nothing troubling her.
Placing the food down quietly, Regina waved her hand, making sure the fire wouldn’t die out. They would have time to eat later but right now the sheriff needed the rest.
02.
The second time Emma appeared into the Mayor’s Office was not even a week later.
Regina was in the middle of a phone call when the door to her office flew open and the Sheriff stomped in. Kathryn followed behind her, shooting an apologetic look at Regina. It was clear she had tried to stop the other blonde from entering but the Sheriff was like a bull: if she decided to go somewhere, there was no stopping her.
Regina nodded to Kathryn and she backed out of the office and closed the door behind her.
Meanwhile Emma had made her way to the fireplace, pushing her hands towards the roaring flames. Regina couldn’t help but watch the other woman, whose eyebrow was creased and her lips pursed.
Adorable.
Her concentration had completely left the conversation she was having over the phone and she was suddenly snapped back into it when the confused call of her title made her shake her head.
“Madam Mayor?”
“My apologies, Mister Hardcourt, would you be able to repeat what you just said?”
When the man on the other end of the phone started up again, Regina lifted her hand and waved it towards the fireplace. The fire shot higher into the chimney and made Emma jump back with a shriek.
Regina could feel a smirk pull at her lips when stormy green eyes turned towards her. Emma gave her the finger before huffing and sitting on the couch.
Regina managed to focus fully on her conversation after that. Mister Hardcourt was one of the better people she had to deal with for her job and each conversation always led to results. She was typing one handed on her laptop, making sure everything was set for their follow up meeting in a few weeks time.
“Thank you for calling, I will see you in my office in two weeks.” With that Regina pressed the button on her phone and laid it on its holder on her desk.
Looking up, she couldn’t help but tilt her head curiously. There were boots on the floor next to her couch and curls of golden hair were almost touching the floor, cascading down from the side of it.
Regina got up slowly and made her way to the couch and what she saw made her sigh contently.
Emma was once again asleep on her couch. She looked much more relaxed than she had when she had stomped into her office less than an hour ago. The lines she had developed over the years around her eyes and forehead were a lot smoother than they were normally.
Serene.
That was the word Regina was looking for.
It made her feel good to have Emma here. She had asked around since the last nap incident and Henry had told her that Emma was struggling to sleep. He could hear her move around during all hours of the night, the TV on constantly to create white noise which the blonde favored over silence.
Regina was aware that there was more in her heart than just simple acceptance over Emma. There were feelings, no matter how much she tried to deny it to herself and to others. She craved the blondes' presence, wanted to spend as much time with her as possible and she enjoyed the calm the other woman always brought with her.
Being unable to help herself she reached over the back of the couch and pushed the hair out of Emma’s face and gently placed it behind her ear. She was grateful she managed to fight down her need to press a kiss on the pale cheek so instead she headed towards the wall of filing cabinets.
Most of it was for town paperwork and her office supplies but one of the drawers was for her. She kept a spare outfit as well as some make up and snacks in there, but she had added something else in there earlier in the week.
Her office was easy to heat up but ever since seeing Emma shivering after the downpour, Regina had wanted to make sure that were that to ever happen again, she was more well prepared. So she had brought one of her blankets from home.
You know, just in case.
So she tried to silence her brain as she draped it over the sleeping blonde, making sure she was fully covered. In her sleep Emma snuggled further into the couch, letting out a small snore.
Regina was unsure how long she stood there, just watching her. Eventually her brain kickstarted her body and she returned to her desk, her cheeks coloring slightly.
03.
“Emma, there is no way you can sleep in my office today, I have my entire schedule filled with meetings and they take place in my office!”
“But Regina-”
“There are absolutely no buts about this! I can’t have my Sheriff taking a nap while I talk about the town budget with various town officials!”
Emma had come to the Town Hall early today with breakfast. It had been such a lovely surprise, especially since it was Emma’s day off and they had a lovely time. She had left with a skip in her step and Regina had assumed she wouldn’t be seeing the blonde until much later when they had dinner with Henry.
But she had appeared with a container of fries and her patented puppy dog eyes and asked to sleep on the couch. It had become something she did often, especially when she had a day off.
Regina had brought up the fact that Emma didn’t seem to be sleeping anywhere else but Emma assured her that everything was alright. She was sleeping more during the night but she liked it there in the office. After that Regina had been much too blushy to ask any further questions.
But today that was not going to work.
“They won’t even notice me, I promise!” Emma pouted, her whine almost as impressive as Henry’s had been when he was seven. Regina rolled her eyes.
“Your snores can be heard all the way to Granny’s.”
The gasp Emma let out made Regina almost purr in delight. The way they bantered was one of her favorite things in the world. Only Emma Swan could make her feel so alive.
“Regina Mills, how dare you-”
“How dare I? I’m not the one who has to apologize to people I’m on the phone with when your snores make the entire building shake.” Regina wished she was exaggerating, but there were days when she actually had to decline phone calls because she would not be able to hear anything over Emma’s snores.
“I promise I won’t today though.” Emma insisted and then pushed out her bottom lip and whispered. “Please.”
Regina knew she was going to lose the second Emma had asked her question. She had been much more solid and unwavering all those years ago but now she was someone with soft spots. Her, Regina Mills, the Evil Queen. Former. Former Evil Queen.
Maybe former Evil Queens were allowed to have soft spots for more than one person.
While the thought made her feel calmer and more comfortable, a familiar flame of annoyance was stirring in her chest. Who had given Emma the right to be adorable enough to make her give in? This was absolutely unacceptable.
But as her eyes zeroed in on the sparking forest green eyes, she sighed.
“Merlin help me, Miss Swan, if you elicit one snore I will rip your heart out.”
The smile on Emma’s face was blinding. She reached for Regina and pulled her into a tight hug. Her strong arms wrapped around Regina’s thin waist and she pressed her face into her shoulder. Regina’s arms automatically made it around Emma’s shoulders and with a sigh she let her head rest against Emma’s.
They stood like this, wrapped together for a while in the middle of the Mayor's Office before Regina had to let her go. Time was ticking and her first appointment was only minutes away.
But Emma wasn’t done.
She pressed a quick kiss on Regina’s cheek before letting her lips rest next to the Mayor’s ear. Her breath was hot which made Regina shiver as she tried to get her body to remain calm and not let the other woman know just how much she was affecting her by just being pressed against her body.
“You don’t have to go ripping my heart out, Regina. It’s already yours.”
And with those parting words she let Regina go and made her way to the couch. The blanket Regina had brought her all those weeks ago was a permanent fixture on the armrest and the blonde draped it over herself as she got comfy against the cushions. The fire was already roaring in the fireplace and the blonde let out a content hum.
Regina on the other hand was sure her brain had short circuited. The close proximity, the hot breath against her ear and neck and Emma’s words were causing her entire body to shut down. She adored the woman so any hug they shared was like a gift but a kiss? And what she said?
Yeah, too much.
But at the same time not enough.
But before she could do anything about it, her intercom was beeping. Going around the table she pressed the button to talk to Kathryn.
“Your first appointment is here, Regina.”
“Thank you, Kathryn. You can send them in.” Regina answered, fluffing her hair and straightening her clothes. She chanced a look at Emma who was doing something with her phone, fully comfortable and smiling softly.
That was when the door opened and the new director of the School Board walked in with his snappy suit and his suitcase. Regina remembered hearing some stories from Snow and all and all he seemed like a nice enough person who had the best in mind for the youth in their town.
“Madam Mayor.” He bowed his upper body towards Regina before smiling at her. Regina inclined with her head towards the visitors chair. As Mister Nestle was walking further into the room, his eyes landed on the blonde hair peeking from the side of the couch.
Regina could see the confusion spread on his face as he pointed towards Emma and opened his mouth. Closing her own eyes, Regina felt like groaning. She had a pretty good idea how the rest of her meetings were going to be going today.
“Is that the Sheriff?”
“Yup, it’s me.” A voice said from the couch and an arm reached out, doing finger guns towards the man. Mister Nestle looked even more confused and there was clearly a follow up question brewing and ready to come out but Regina hurried to interrupt him.
“Ignore the Sheriff, Mister Nestle. Shall we get started on your budget?”
The man nodded but not before turning to look at the back of the couch one more time.
“Have a good one, Sheriff.”
“Thanks, man.” Emma’s chipper voice could be heard and Regina rolled her eyes so hard she could feel pain. Maybe she should have known better.
A variation of the same conversation happened four more times and Regina wanted to be irritated, she really did. But other than confirming the identity of their guest no one batted an eye when they found out it was Emma. The blonde didn’t do a lot of sleeping as she was greeted by the officials and she gave muttering commentaries whenever each meeting concluded.
Regina tried to ignore her to the best of her ability but as the second to last meeting wrapped up and she walked Lady Sweeney out of the office, Emma snorted. Loudly. Thankfully Regina had managed to close the door already.
She turned on her heel and stomped to peer over the back of the couch. Emma was smirking up at her, her hair mussed for being fully snuggled into the pillows. She looked so fucking cute, Regina groaned out loud and closed her eyes.
“Emma, you promised to behave.”
“Actually, what I promised was to not snore. Which I haven’t done. So you can’t get mad at me.” She pointed out with her smirk fully stretched on her lips.
Regina could feel the length of her day getting to her and she was getting frustrated. Emma was right of course and that fact alone was making her want to fireball someone. But before she could unleash whatever hell was brewing inside of her, a warm palm was pressed on her cheek.
That made her snap her eyes open in seconds and she met the forest green ones who were gently searching her face. The grin was gone and it was replaced with a sweet smile.
“I’m sorry if I have ruined your meetings. That was never my intention.”
And Regina knew that, because this was Emma they were talking about. She didn’t go around ruining things on purpose. She was chaotic but by accident, always.
“You haven’t ruined them.” Regina muttered as she pressed her cheek further into the palm that was still gradling her face gently. “I like having you here.”
She hadn’t exactly planned on revealing that but the cat was out of the bag and it was too late to stuff it back in. Thankfully it seemed like she didn’t have to as Emma’s smile spread even wider and her eyes were practically sparkling.
“And I like being here. Why do you think I sleep on your lumpy couch? For the back pain?”
That made Regina snort and she could feel tears gather in her eyes. This was not the confession of feelings but it was a confirmation of something more .
And right now that was all she needed.
04.
It was one of those evenings when the Swan-Mills family had dinner together. It had become more of a common occurrence after Storybrooke calmed down but now it happened on most nights of the week.
Regina had just finished her food and she watched fondly as Emma and Henry carried the dishes back into the kitchen to load the dishwasher and put away the leftovers for tomorrow. It was the kind of domestic bliss Regina had always wanted.
Things had been different between them since The Great Budget Naps as Emma liked to call it. It was softer, they both smiled more and they touched each other. A lot. Sometimes it was as simple as holding onto each other's arm, but they have gotten as close as to sitting with their sides touching when they were watching movies at the Mansion during the weekends.
Regina could almost feel the warmth of Emma’s body against her and the blonde was in another room.
The office naps still happened, which was something others in town had also found out about. Regina had to wield some rather curious questions regarding that but she managed to avoid most of the nosy townsfolk.
Deterring off Snow and Ruby was something else though as it was clear both women knew what she was feeling towards the Savior. Regina was surprised as well as concerned Snow hadn’t tried to talk to her about it properly but she was sure the raven haired woman was saving it up for later. And knowing Snow it was going to be having the worst timing ever.
Shaking her head lightly, Regina focused on finishing her wine so she could bring the now empty glass into the kitchen to be put into the washer. The two of the most important people in her life were finishing up their tasks, joking about something and Emma flicked Henry with a towel which made the teenager shriek and try to retaliate.
“Now, now, kids. Let's calm down.” Regina smiled as she came closer. She put her glass on the dish table and reached for Emma’s hips to move her out of her way so she could put the glass into the dishwasher. Emma’s body felt warm and solid under her fingers and she couldn’t help but hold on tighter for a few seconds.
That was when Henry decided to retaliate at his Ma and Emma took a hurried steps back which in turn made her collide with Regina. They ended up pressed against each other, Emma’s backside firstly placed against Regina’s crotch and Regina's back hitting the counter painfully. The brunette could feel the wind being knocked out of her and she reached forward on instinct to balance them.
“Shit, Regina!”
And suddenly the warm body was gone but there were palms on her cheeks and two sets of green eyes were looking at her worriedly. Henry had rushed over to join his Ma in inspecting the damage caused to the innocent bystander in their never ending games.
Regina couldn’t really help but smile. While it was sometimes a lot having two teenagers run amuck in her house, this was still her dream. She wanted this to last for a long time, potentially forever. Hearing Henry’s deep laughter and hearing Emma shriek while they ran around the house, their joy contagious was the kind of life she had wished for the both of them.
And for herself.
“Are you alright, Mom?” Henry asked, worried for the lack of reaction.
It was Regina’s turn to laugh.
“I’m alright. Just got the wind knocked out of me.” She smiled, meeting her son's eyes first and then Emma’s. It was remarkable how alike they looked when you had them standing like this in front of you.
“Are you sure you are alright?” Of course Emma would double check, her lie detector no doubt beeping and trying to gather intel.
“I promise you.” Regina hoped her eyes were open enough to let Emma see the truth and after a moment, the blonde nodded. She didn’t let go of Regina though, but moved her hands from her cheeks to her hips and pulling her to her side.
“Maybe we could do with a little less rough housing, kid. How about a movie or a board game?” Emma asked, and Regina could once again feel her body close and it was making her soul calm down.
“Sorry to ditch you, Moms, but I have a project I need to work on for next week.” Henry said and looked at the time. “And I think I will head to bed afterwards. I’m beat.”
“Good for you, kid. Keep it up.” Emma offered her fist for Henry and he pumped it with a smirk. He then walked closer so he could be enveloped in a hug from both of his mothers.
Regina pressed a kiss to his cheek and watched misty eyed as her little prince walked out of the kitchen and his thundering footsteps took him upstairs.
Silence fell over them as they still stood together in the kitchen. When Regina looked over at Emma, she was sporting a very similar look to her own. Her green eyes were glued to the doorway Henry had disappeared through.
“Are you going to stay?” Regina heard herself asking. She really didn’t feel like spending the evening alone and the only other person she wanted to devote her time to, apart from her son, was the woman standing against her.
“Yes. I was thinking we could maybe have a drink.” Emma wondered.
Regina pulled apart from Emma, almost whining when she felt her side get colder. Leading them through the living room, she pushed open the door to her home office where she kept her apple cider.
Waving her hand, the fireplace roared alive and like a moth to a flame, Emma beelined towards the couch that oversaw it. It didn’t take long for Regina to pour them drinks and when she turned towards the other woman, she was nowhere to be seen.
But with a roll of her eyes she walked towards the couch and peaked over the back. Meeting her was a wide smile and hooded eyes.
“So my couch in the Town Hall is no longer good enough for you? You have to come and claim the one in my home too?” Regina asked, amused.
Emma tried to shrug but the movement was partly obstructed by the fact that she was laying down. “I like office couches.”
“Is that so?” Regina raised an eyebrow which made Emma blush slightly.
“Not all offices though.” Emma muttered, not meeting her eyes.
Regina rounded the couch and placed their glasses on coasters on the table in front of them. She then nudged Emma’s legs a bit so the blonde would make some space for her so she could sit down.
“Not all offices, huh?” Regina had an idea where this was going but she needed to hear Emma say it.
The blonde was quiet for a bit, her eyes focusing on the fire dancing in its place. Regina wasn’t going to be rushing her because she knew if it was her in this position, she would just close down harder.
“Just yours.”
It was said quietly but Regina heard it. And it made her heart sing.
Regina realized she was presented with a choice; on the other hand she could maybe finally get everything she had ever wanted, but at the same time, there was always a chance Emma was going to reject her. It felt pretty unlikely after what the blonde had just said but the lifetime of pain was not easily forgotten.
Looking at Emma, she saw uncertainty in her eyes and that alone made everything in her make a full u-turn.
She moved a bit higher up on the couch and made a movement with her hand to indicate to Emma she wished for her to scootch back. There was confusion but such intense hope in green eyes so she scampered to do just that. Regina laid down, pressing her body closer towards Emma’s.
With only a moment's hesitation, Emma brought her arm around and wrapped it around Regina’s waist, further pressing their bodies together.
“I hope only mine.” Regina whispered, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
“Always yours, only yours.” Emma spoke quietly behind her, her breath warm, her voice slightly wavering.
Regina was sure they were no longer speaking about office couches.
05.
It had been a busy morning for the Mayor's Office and Regina was exhausted. The amount of paperwork the numerous summer festivals needed was insanity and there were people coming and going in regards to that.
It was almost lunchtime and she was eager to get up from behind her desk. But as she was starting to put aside some of her work, there was a knock on her door. She couldn’t help but groan. Was this ever going to end?
“Come in.”
When she looked up from her work, a bright smile instantly spread on her face when she saw who had walked into her office. Wearing one of her many leather jackets and a pair of black jeans, Emma Swan was a vision. Her golden hair was on lush curls and she had her badge and gun strapped to her belt.
“Hi.” Regina breathed.
Without saying anything, Emma walked around the Mayor’s desk and placed her palms against Regina’s cheeks. Leaning down, she attached their lips to a deep kiss that left Regina lightheaded. Emma was an excellent kisser and Regina could not get enough of her. Snaking her own hands to hold onto her jacket, she kissed back urgently.
Only when she could feel moans starting to bubble out of her, did Emma pull back with a chuckle.
“Eager, Madam Mayor?” The wink should not have been as attractive as it was, but Regina found most things about Emma irresistible.
“Yes.” She shrugged a bit and the blatant admission made Emma’s eyebrows raise a bit. A fresh smirk appeared on her face as she leaned down again, pressing hot open mouth kisses against the exposed neck.
This time Regina let the moan bubble out. She had already been in love with Emma Swan a long before they actually admitted their feelings for each other on that fateful day on the couch of her home office. But ever since then she never hid how much she loved and wanted her girlfriend.
“Emma.” She moaned against the blonde hair, holding onto the armrests of her chair for dear life.
That was when the other woman pulled back again. The smirk had turned something softer and warmer and she reached out her hands, which Regina didn’t hesitate to take.
A deep laughter ran in her office when she realized where Emma was taking her. The blonde sat them down on the couch where it all started. Regina had since upgraded into something that didn’t hurt Emma’s back so much as the blonde still continued to take occasional naps in the Mayor’s Office.
“Really, Emma?” Regina laughed but laid down with her girlfriend, this time facing her. She loved to be held but being able to face Emma was an added bonus.
“I know the past week has been hard for you because of the festival preparation.” Emma said, brushing her hands up and down Regina’s spine, making the other woman nearly purr. “I thought you might need a break.”
“I can’t take a nap.” Regina could feel her mouth turn downwards. “There are so many people to meet and I still need to sign all those papers-”
“I told Kathryn to turn everyone around for the next two hours. Whatever they need, they will still need afterwards and they can come and see you afterwards.” Emma interrupted her.
Regina searched for the green eyes and only found love and devotion. She had never had anyone like Emma in her life, so willing to make sure everything was alright with her.
“Are you going to nap with me?” Regina could feel her body getting heavy with exhaustion and she closed her eyes. She was pulled even closer to Emma’s body, her head tucked under the strong chin. There was slight shuffling but she could feel a blanket being draped over them.
A few kisses were pressed on the top of her head.
“Damn right.”
