"Maria! I said everything! You stay at home and I go help Steve! Did you understand everything?"
It was a sunny day outside. Usually, a sunny day brings joy, but for Maria and Natasha, not today.
"What are you even thinking about? You either stay or I come with you! Make up your mind."
"Why do you always make things difficult? Maybe I shouldn't have started a relationship with you at all?"
Maria's favorite vase fell to the ground from Natasha's heavy hand. The commander did not expect such words and such actions. She took a couple of steps to the redhead and her blue eyes began to fill with tears.
"What are you talking about, Tasha…?"
"I am telling the truth. We should part and never see each other again."
Natasha took a couple of steps back from Maria and looked straight into her eyes.
"I don't want to see you, commander. You are nobody to me and I don't know your name now."
Romanoff reached for her bag of things, but Hill stopped her at the door.
"Natasha, I'm begging you. Don't go, don't leave me. I can't live without you. I'll drink myself to death if you do."
"I don't care. I have to help Steve."
These were Natasha's last words. After them, she left their shared house, which they had chosen together a couple of years ago.
Of course, Natasha did care about Maria. She was worried about her, but the redhead could no longer come to her. She made the dumbest decision in her life and will no longer be able to forgive herself for it. Both women cried at night and could not get back to normal. Maria started drinking alcohol, as she promised. She was on the verge of death from alcohol when Fury helped her get out of that state and start a new life. A life in which she will not miss Natasha. Natasha could not start such a new life, so every day she looked at their photo together and kept the ring next to him. Tasha planned to make the brunette his wife, but could not. She was a coward who would never find her happiness again.
