Chapter Text
"Okay, first day" he whispered to himself as he walked onto the unfamiliar yellow bus. As he made his way onto the automobile, he found nothing but estranged stares from the passengers. His face flushed as he quickly sat down in a seat alone. He had never really seen this many kids in one place before. Not ever since he has been adopted by his new family. The people who worked at the orphanage were all used to his appearance. But here, they have never seen someone quite like him.
He tried to ignore the elephant in the room as the bus continued on route, making more stops until the seats were almost filled up. All but the seat next to him which remained empty throughout the drive. Although most might be offended by this, he was partially thankful that no one had sat next to him. Mainly because he didn't want to engage in conversation with anyone so soon, or deal with the awkwardness of not doing so.
Finally, the bus made its way to the school, and he finally had a good look at it for the first time. The building itself was bleak and gray, with tones of navy blue outlining the windows. The bus opens its door, and all the students got up. Well all except Jack, who had waited for all the kids to get off before he stood up. This was another successful attempt at not interacting with the other students.
He got off the bus, and hesitantly walked into the monotone building. Again, he was met with the same kind of stares that he was faced with on the bus. Only this time, these stares were paired with accompanied whispers. Still, Jack remained composed and headed to the front desks, where the guidance counselors would be handing out schedules. After a bit of waiting, it was his turn to step up.
"Hello! what is your ID number?" asked the cheery lady. She was wearing a pink blazer with a crème colored blouse underneath. Her smile was almost sickening.
"Uh, my ID number is 413087" he stuttered.
"Ok dearie!" said the lady as she handed him a slip of paper.
"Thank you!" Jack said, turning around to get out of the line.
He moved to the side of the lobby and took a look at his schedule. He had, gym, first period. "Great..." he mumbled under his breath.
While avoiding large crowds, Jack tried his best to navigate through the halls to find the gymnasium. Thankfully, the schools format wouldn't make that much of a challenge. The two gymnasiums were both together in a distinct corner of the school. He found the correct gym class and waited at the door with some other students.
While waiting, the bell began to ring. Jack initially was confused by this, because he was already at his class, and the teacher wasn't there yet. At this point, more students had gathered by the door as they were giving Jack similar stares as the other students on his bus. A thought then crossed his mind, a thought that slightly scared him to think about. What if I'll have to get used to them looking at me like this? he thought. He quickly tried to ignore this idea as he noticed a tall adult man approaching the gym doors.
"Sorry guys, i had trouble beating the bus line this morning!" laughed the man as he fumbled with his keys. Who needs that many keys? does he really have that many locks? Jack wondered.
Eventually, the man got the big grey doors unlocked, and propped them open to let the students inside. "Okay, My name is Coach Dellwringher! I will be your gym teacher for the new school year! Any questions?"
(i am not writing this guy taking attendance i'd rather sit naked on a hot grill)
Dead silence hit the gym.
"No? Okay then! The soccer field is open, so start making your way outside!"
Some tall blond kids began chuckling as they swung the back gym door open. Jack followed suit with the rest of his class, until they all got to the soccer field. He watched as all of his classmates met with their cliques and began talking and laughing with one another. Looking at these students, he couldn't help but feel a sense of longing for the kind of friendships that these kids seemed to have. He stood still for a second, before realizing that staring at other kids is weird, and making his way to a corner of the soccer field.
He sat by a bench picking at the paint before noticing some strange strands of grass growing from under the bench. The "grass" was taller than the normal strands of grass, and lead to a gap in the fence surrounding the soccer field. Jack quickly noticed this, and looked around to see if anyone would be able to see him if he (hypothetically) slipped through the gate and into the forest. As he realized that everyone would be too preoccupied with their own antics to see him, he followed the strange grass past the gate and away from the field. The grass lead him down a hill, a steep hill. He eventually tripped over a rock and rolled down the leaf colored hill. "Ow!" he exclaimed. He cursed under his breath as he tried to brush the leaves off of his shirt. He picked up his eyes to see a blue creature (?) picking the grass from the earth.
"Hello"
"Uhm, hi?" Jack stuttered. "What is going on? Am i hallucinating?"
"I don't suppose you are" the creature spoke again. Jack got another good look at the being. Their skin looked like the sky, adorned with clouds, and their hair was white like clouds as well.
"W-what are you?" Jack asked.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. You look nothing like your human guardians."
"Tell me about it." Jack exclaimed.
"well, you have a round white head, and a pointy nose. But your hands seem pretty human!" the being responded.
"wha-no. 'tell me about it' is an expression. you don't actually have to tell me about it. i know"
"Is that a human thing? an 'expression'?"
"no, anyone can use them"
"is that why you use them? because you aren't human? you needa use language that anyone can use?"
"wow, you really like rubbing salt in the wound, don't you?" Jack scoffed.
The being tilted their head. "i am not rubbing anything? am i? i don't underst-"
Jack cut them off with a sigh. "It's another expression. It means that- you are hurting my feelings after i am already hurt!"
The being looked worried. "hurt? what happened?"
Jack looked surprised at first. Not a soul so far had tried to talk to him until now. He hesitated, but then began to speak.
"Well, it's about being 'non-human'! I just want to get along with the other kids here, but i am too, too-"
"Different?" the being cut off.
"yeah, 'different'."
There was a moment of silence between the two.
"well, what's wrong with being different? why would that stop them from liking you?" the being said, as they stepped closer to Jack.
"because! I-" Jack stuttered.
"I don't know."
Another moment of silence passed between the two.
Eventually, the being spoke up.
"What's your name?"
"Jack"
"Hello Jack. My name is Harvie"
"Harvie? isn't that a boys name?" Jack asked, regretting it right after.
"a what's name?" said Harvie, tilting their head.
"a-... nothing. never mind" Jack stammered.
"what are you, anyways?" Jack asked, putting his hands on his hips.
"i- i dunno! i just kinda, am!" Harvie said as he giggled and began hovering just above the ground.
Something clicked in Jacks mind when Harvie said this.
"hm. Yeah, I also just kinda am!" Jack said, realizing that his grammar was off.
"Heehee!" giggled Harvie. "You speak funny!"
"How? i was just repeating what you said!" Jack asked.
"Yep! and you made it sound funny! Teehee!" Harvie giggled, while putting his knees to his chest in the air and covering his smile.
Jack watched as Harvie kept giggling at the way he spoke. He noticed that all the clouds that had been on Harvies skin were no longer there. "Heh, i guess i did."
Harvie looked a Jack as he tried to stop giggling. "Heehee, i don't mind you, Jack"
Suddenly, Jack heard a gym whistle in the direction of the soccer field.
"!"
"I have to go!"
Harvie was puzzled by the sudden statement
"Aw, so soon?"
"Yeah! Class is over!"
"Class?" Harvie asked
"Uhm, yeah? I'lol explain it the next time i see you!"
"okay! Bye Jack!"
"Bye Harvie!"
Jack tried his best to run back up the hill as fast as he could. He bolted through the fence and tried to make it back to the building before the doors were locked.
Throughout the rest of the day, he couldn't stop thinking about the strange blue kid he had met. Would he ever see him again?

Chapter Text
"So," Harvie sat on a log in the forest, listening with attentive ears, "what's a class?"
"A class is like a place people go to, to learn about something." Jack responded, as he leaned himself against a tree, opposite to where Harvie was sitting.
"Oh! So what are you learning about now?" Harvie asked.
"Well, we are supposed to be playing, uh, games, with some friends up there" Jack responded, pointing in the direction of the field. "But,"
"you don't have many friends?" Harvie asked.
"Uhm, well, yeah. I don't." Jack sighed. "Not right now, at least."
"hm"
The space fell silent, before Harvie spoke up again.
"I wish i could help you, it's just," Harvie stumbled through his words "Knox told me i can't go past the fence."
"Knox?" Jack puzzled.
At that moment, Harvie covered his mouth with a slap, as if he had said a curse word.
"Uhm! Pretend i didn't say that!" Harvie blurted.
"What? No way! You have to tell me who Knox is!" Jack stated.
"Oh dear... well, only if you never tell a soul!"
"Cross my heart" Jack said.
"uhm, well," Harvie began. "Knox is a human friend that i have. They visit that building, up there" Harvie then pointed in the direction of the high school. "They said that there's nothing good about that place other than the Gay club."
"Gay club?" Jack asked, tilting his head.
"Yep, that's what they said."
Jack hummed. "Are you friends with Knox?" Jack felt weird saying the peculiar name out loud. What kind of person has a name like Knox? he thought.
"Oh yes! Knox and i are pretty decent friends!" Harvie face seemed to light up while he thought about his friend. "I have a ton of friends because of Knox!"
Great Jack thought. Even your local neighborhood forest dweller has more friends than me
"Well, do you know these peoples names?" Jack asked.
"Yep! There's Knox, and Izzy, and also Kass, and Anna, and..." Harvie proceeded to name off a number of names, most of which Jack will forget in the next 2 minutes.
"Woah woah woah!" Jack interrupted after a bit. "Where'd you meet all these people?"
Harvie began to kick his feet. "At the super secret treehouse club, of course!!!" Harvie jumped up in excitement, before covering his mouth again. The embarrassment of revealing another secret to Jack made more clouds appear on his skin.
Jack had a blank look on his face. "I won't tell a soul you said that to me" Jack sighed.
"Great!" cheered Harvie. "Maybe you can come to the club sometime!"
"Hmm, ok, when is it?" Jack asked.
"uhmmm, i dunno!" Harvie shrugged. "Ask Knox about it."
"But i don't know who Knox is" Jack looked slightly annoyed now.
"oh, well-" Harvie began to speak, but the whistle in the distance went off.
"I have to go now!" Jack said as he sprinted up the hill.
"ok! see ya, Jack!"
"Bye Harvie!"
Jack bolted out of the forest, and back to the soccer field. He barely caught up with his class as Coach Dellwringher gave him an odd look.
"Jack, is it?" He asked.
"hm?"
"Do you mind staying back a bit after the bell rings?"
Jack was about to rebuttal, when he gave up and responded with a simple "Ok."
After the bell, Jack met the Coach in his cramped office.
"So" he started "is there any reason why you keep leaving the field during my class?"
"Well, yes." Jack responded.
The Coach looked at him, awaiting an answer. Although Jack has had trouble holding back his tongue in the past, he managed to pull through this time.
"Actually, no" Jack restated.
The gym teacher sighed. "In any case, i can't have you running off on us like that. It's a huge safety concern, especially nowadays with these new threats from people. I mean, god forbid something happens, but if it had, then i wouldn't know where you are. During my class, you are my responsibility, and if something happened to you, then i could get into trouble, okay?"
Jack tried his best not to roll his eyes as he replied with another "Ok."
He got a pass from the gym teacher and proceeded to his next class, Spanish.

Chapter Text
Jack made his way to his Spanish II class. As he was walking, he wondered how he was going to find out who "Knox" is. The only clues that he had were about "Gay club" and he had no idea what that meant. Still, Jack would remain persistent and try to look for more clues about Knox.
He walked into his Spanish class about 3 minutes after the late bell had rang. The teacher, Ms. Allen, greeted him with "¡Hola! ¿Donde estaban?"
Jack froze at the question from his teacher. It was the second day of school, and already he needs to understand questions like this? Still, using his context clues, he tried his best to understand and respond.
"Uh, yo estas a la gymnasium, lo siento por tarde" he responded, his mouth looking like a tangled string as he was doing so.
Ms. Allen applauded him for responding, but then corrected him. "Wrong conjugation, but nice effort!" She cheered.
Jack's face slightly flushed with embarrassment, as he sat down and got his Spanish notebook out of his bag. As the teacher began to hand out a worksheet, the daily announcements started.
"Good morning. Today is Tuesday, September 2. LGBTQ+ Allies Club is after school today during 10th period at room B102."
Bingo Jack thought.
-time skip-to after school-
Jack walked out of his last period class, English, and made his way upstairs to room B102. This was the first club meeting of the year. Jack would have been nervous if he was going to this club on his own terms, and not because he needed information. But he knew why he was there, he was going to find out who Knox is, and what the Tree-house Club is.
Jack walked into the room, and all eyes had darted towards him. Although everyone was looking at him, he took the time to really get a look at the kids who were in this club. Some kids had style that he would classify as "weird", but he tried to dismiss the judgemental thoughts and focus on the task at hand. After all, he wasn't the most normal looking student either.
He collected himself and sat down at a table with a kid wearing big over-ear headphones. The kid glanced at him, but quickly looked away once the two made eye contact. Jack found this behavior strange, but decided to ignore it.
As he was waiting, a bunch of kids in (assuming) the same friend group walked in. They were all laughing and being loud with each other. One kid stood out, a girl, who eventually made her friends sit down and took a stand at the podium in the front of the room.
"Hello, my favorite queers and allies!" she announced. "My name is Andy! And I am the president of this club!"
Not Knox Jack thought with a sigh. The room that the club took place in wasn't necessarily full, but it wasn't too empty either. It had a decent amount of students, as all the tables had at least two kids seated.
"I am going to start today's club by introducing everyone! Please state your name, pronouns, and sexuality of gender, if you are comfortable, of course!"
Shit Jack thought. Up until this point, he had never actually thought of what his pronouns were or what sexuality he was either. He quickly began to think of something to say as the people began introducing themselves in order.
"I'll start! My name is Andy Reed, i use she/her pronouns, and i am Bisexual! Ace will go next, and well go around each table."
That meant that Jack was one of the last people to introduce himself. His table was at the opposite end that "Ace's" table was at.
"Hi, my name is Ace Miller, i use he/him pronouns, and i am transgender." the boy said, as he held up a peace sign.
Not Knox thought Jack.
"Hello, uhm, my name is Kass, i use he/him pronouns, and i am a demisexual transman."
Jack turned to Kass to get a good look at him. His name sounded familiar, but where is it from?
Each person in the room introduced themselves, and Jack had mostly tuned out of it until he heard the name he had been looking for.
"Hey, my name is Knox, i use they/them pronouns, and i am non-binary."
Jack looked Knox. They looked like a normal student, wearing a gray hoodie and black sweatpants. Their hair was cut short in a pixie style. While he was examining Knox, he didn't realize that it was his turn to introduce himself.
"Excuse me?" Andy said, as Jack snapped out of it.
"Uh, yeah, sorry, uh." Jack began stumbling through his words as he realized that everyone's eyes were on him. "My name is Jack, i use he/him pronouns, and- i am- that's it."
He didn't feel comfortable mentioning his sexuality, so he panicked and left it out.
Most of the club time was used up for introductions, but after Jack had introduced himself, Andy began talking about the club.
"So, as you all may know, this is LGBTQ and Allies club. Here, we educate people on the different gender identities, sexualities, and teach people basic lessons on pronoun usage and common queer kid situations, such as how to deal with being outed, being closeted, transitioning, and gender expression! We dont have enough time to start a lesson, but I am glad that this was used for intros and such." Andy announced with a smile.
Then, the 2:45 bell rung.
"welp, thats all for today's club! see yall next Tuesday!"
Jack got his backpack, and as the children were leaving the room, he called Knox's name.
"Huh?" Knox blurted, turning around.
"Hey, uh, Knox, right?"
"Yeah? What's up?" Knox asked, now facing Jack.
"I need to ask you, do you know a little blue kid, named Harvie?"
"Wh- You mean, cloud kid?" Knox said "I didn't know she had a name."
"Well, yeah, her name is Harvie, and I just, needed to make sure i wasn't hallucinating. I mean, what a weird dude." Jack rambled.
Knox's voice suddenly lowered to a whisper. "Where'd you find him?"
"Behind the soccer field, past the fence"
"huh, what else did he tell you? I know he can be a tad 'loose' with his words."
"Well," Jack started "she told me about you, and some other kids, and a 'tree-house club'?"
"ah shit" Knox huffed.
"what?" Jack asked, not knowing what the big deal was. It was just a silly club at someones tree-house after school most likely. They both walked out of the room and into the hallway.
"Just, pretend you didn't hear that." Knox said, dismissing Jack as they walked slightly faster than him now.
"What? Why?" Jack asked as they had already rushed away from where Jack was and headed for the front doors of the school.
"Because!" Knox yelled back "You aren't invited!"
Jack had now stopped in the middle of the hallway and dropped his shoulders as he watched Knox leave the building. He had checked his phone and saw that his adopted Dad had been texting him about when to pick him up from school.
Text Conversation (2:51)
Hey! Jack?
I need to know when to pick you up
hello?
yeah
sorry, i had notifs off
can you pick me up now?
the club i had went to is over.
okie dokie
im omw now
:)
Jack then shut off his phone and waited for his Dad to show up. Eventually, his dad's car pulled up to the front of the school, and Jack left the building and entered the car.
"Hey Jack! How was your day!"
"It was okay, i guess." Jack responded, still processing what had happened at the club.
"You said you had went to a club?"
Jack hummed.
"Which one? I didn't know you had been looking for clubs."
Jack had still been on autopilot while thinking about what had happened, and wasn't fully thinking about what he was saying.
"Gay club." he responded flatly.
The car became dead silent as Jack had realized what he just said.
"I-I mean, LGBTQ and Allies club. Allies go there as well." Jack said, his face flushed with embarrassment.
"Uhm, Okay."
Although Jack had seemingly been cast away by Knox, he was determined to find out what that after school club really was.

Chapter Text
It is the weekend now, and Jack couldn't wait to sleep in. The rest of the week, Jack hadn't been able to see Harvie because of his gym teacher. He had no idea how he'd be able to see his new friend after school hours, until this fateful Saturday morning.
At about noon, Jack heard the front doorbell ring. He hadn't wondered who it was because he was still in bed. After a few words were exchanged, Jack heard his Dad call his name from downstairs.
"Uh, Jack?"
"Yeah?" Jack responded.
"There's, uhm, someone here. They say they know you?"
As Jack groggily got up from his bed, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. Ugh he thought. Must have slept wrong.
He shuffled his way past moving boxes in his room, downstairs and to the front door and saw Harvie, bright and smiling, standing next to his Dad. As soon as Harvie could see Jack, she smiled and shouted "Hi Jack!!! I brought something for you!!!"
Jack's dad looked puzzled at the strange child. "Jack, is this a friend of yours?"
"Uh, yeah. This is Harvie" Jack spoke. "Harvie wha-"
"I have something for you! Its from Knox and me, because i had talked to them after they said that you went to them about the 'club' and they said that you aren't invited, but i was like 'no, we should invite him' because, y'know, we totally should, and then they were all like 'nuh uh! i don't want Jack at this club!' but then, after a ton of convincing, Knox decided to let you in, thanks to my super great persuasion skills!" Harvie rambled, then took a deep breath. Jack and his Dad tried their best to listen, but Jack especially zoned out a few seconds after Harvie started talking. "So, here!!!"
Harvie then shoved a picnic basket into Jack's arms, which knocked him out of his daze.
"Open it whenever you want to! Just make sure its before next meeting!!"
"okay, w-whens next meeting?"
"I dunno! it should say in there though!! :)" Harvie beamed.
Jack stood there overwhelmed by the things that Harvie was saying. But despite being utterly clueless, he managed to respond with a simple "Thank you." He held a straight expression as he began to ask Harvie a question.
"How do you know I live here?" He asked, tilting his head.
Harvie giggled at the prompt. "Jack, you are so funny!" he laughed. "I don't know you live here!"
Jack yawned and rubbed his eyes. "Right."
"Well, I'll be on my way. See you at club, Jack!" Harvie chimed, turning around and waving back at Jack.
"Okay, you too." Jack muttered.
He stumbled back into the house as his Dad watched Harvie leave in awe. Eventually, he walked back inside.
"Hey, Jack? Who was that?" His dad asked.
"A- friend." Jack responded flatly.
"I say, that kid is a tad odd." He remarked. "Where'd you find her?"
Jack stood still for a moment. He didn't exactly like how his dad was calling his only friend in this new town weird, but at the same time he recognized that he wasn't incorrect.
"Behind the school." Jack stated.
"What in the world were you doing behind the school?"
"I-I-" Jack stuttered. He continued to stumble over his words as he tried to explain.
Oh god, he hates me, doesn't he? Jack thought. He felt lightheaded and couldn't collect his thoughts.
After a bit, Jack's Dad spoke up.
"Woah woah woah, hey sport, you okay?"
Jack nodded his head without speaking anymore. What's happening? he thought as his palms got sweaty and he began slightly fidgeting with the basket handle.
His Dad finally sighed. "It's okay, kid, you don't have to explain it. I'm just glad that you're out there making friends, that's all."
Jack looked down at the floor as his Dad stepped away and walked towards the kitchen. Then, Jack walked upstairs to his room and closed the door behind him. He set the basket on the floor and sprawled himself out on his bed. What the hell just happened.
After a bit, he sat up and looked at the basket beside his bed. He suddenly felt overcome by curiosity, and lifted the basket to his lap.
Let's see what this is about.
He opened the picnic basket lid to find some clean green onions wrapped in a paper towel, a piece of paper, and a small box.
The piece of paper read:
Hello.
Welcome to the club n all
We have club at 3 to 6 every sunday
-Knox
Hiiiiii!!!!
Hope you like the gift!
-Harvie
Jack opened the box to find a blue star kandi beaded bracelet that read "Prophecy Kid" on it. It fit him perfectly.
Weird Jack thought.
Chapter 5: Kandi Blue II
Summary:
Jack goes on a walk.
Chapter Text
Jack lies still on his bed, with the strange bracelet on his wrist. He couldn't help but feel bad.
People really have to convince themselves to be around me?
He sat up for a second and looked around his room. Boxes of clothes and his belongings were littered around, along with and empty dresser and an unopened pack of hangers on the floor by his closet. He tried to ignore the lingering sadness that moving houses has caused, mainly because he knew that it was going to subside with time. But this knowledge didn't seem to make him feel better at all.
He wanted someone to tell him that things were going to be okay. It was exhausting for him to always find remedies for his fears alone. He wanted someone to tell him the things he had to look for by himself.
His mind began racing again as he felt tears fill his eyes. Why do I have to be so different? What did i do to deserve feeling like this? He lifted his hands to cover his face as he felt himself getting sick.
I want to stop thinking.
Eventually, he got up, put on a pair of slippers, and went to the bathroom. He still hadn't brushed his teeth yet and he wanted to distract himself.
He turned the light on and looked at himself in the mirror.
It was his usual "iconic" round head and pointy nose. He was wearing a (now pajama) shirt from his last school with a pair of Christmas pants that used to be worn with a matching shirt. The set is identical to a pair that his dad and mom had, and they would wear it together for nice pictures during special overnight events, like Christmas morning. But he doesn't really care about that stuff anymore.
He finished brushing his teeth and headed downstairs.
He had an idea to go for a quick walk around the neighborhood to further distract himself. His Dad encouraged him to go outside more often, even if it was for a few minutes in the front lawn. Jack announced that he was going to go for a walk.
"Okay, sport!" His Dad responded from the kitchen. "Breakfast is gonna be done in about 20 minutes, so please be back before then!"
"I will!" Jack replied as he walked out the front door.
He stepped outside and took a deep breath. He felt the sun, warm and pleasant, beaming down on his face. The slight breeze blew a few fallen leaves across the narrow pathway leading to the sidewalk. Birds were singing and chirping in the trees beside the house, warm yet run-down.
After soaking in the atmosphere, Jack began to make his way down the street.
The sidewalks were narrow and cracked, but still slightly walk-able. The other houses on the street seemed newer, or at least more loved than the house that Jack resided in. Still, he tried to remind himself to stop comparing where other people were staying to where he was staying.
He continued to walk down the street. As he was about to turn a corner, he heard a familiar voice from a way's away.
"Jack?" the person called.
"huh?"
He turned around to find Harvie on the opposite corner.
He crossed the street and approached Jack.
"Hiya, Jack!"
"Hey Harvie"
Now that Jack was fully awake, he was able to get a good look at Harvie. He was wearing a navy blue cape poncho with a pair of black pants.
"Whats up? I see you got the bracelet on!! Do you like it?" Harvie inquired.
"oh, yeah, i do. Did you make it?"
"Yeah! I thought you'd want a little something before you show up to club."
"Okay."
"What are you doing out here?" Harvey smiled.
"Nothing much, just felt like going for a walk this afternoon. I needed to clear my head"
"Clear your head? How so?"
"Well," Jack started. "it's been a rough day so far, i guess"
They both turned the corner and kept walking down the sidewalk.
"Yeah, i heard you just moved houses, right?" Harvie asked. Jack could hear the concern in his voice.
"I, uh, yeah, just moved in" Jack stuttered.
"Is that how you say that? 'Moved in?'"
"Yep, pretty much." Jack responded.
"I have had 'home troubles' before. I believe that is what is happening to me now, i suppose." Harvie stated. "Just know that you can talk to me if you ever feel the need to."
Jack listened as they spoke. "I might not understand all the time, but i will always try to. I know better than anyone how great it feels to have someone who listens to you."
Jack stood silent for a bit. He didn't know what to think of his friend's words. He want's to trust Harvie, really, but he hasn't ever trusted anyone to that extent.
Suddenly, Harvie kept talking. "Us different kids are better off staying together, right?" He said as he turned to look at Jack.
Jack and Harvie made eye contact at that moment. It has been a while since Jack had made eye contact with someone without feeling extremely uncomfortable.
"Yeah" Jack finally said. "Okay"
