Pizza over anything

Summary:

Sam approves of Tara and Chad's relationship while the twins debate what to eat for dinner.

Notes:

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm writing as much as I can before I do it because if something happens to them I don't think I will be able to write more :(

Work Text:

“So…are we gonna talk about it?” Her big sister asked, barely hiding a smirk that she could imagine even though her eyes were firmly planted on the page of the book she was reading.

"Talk?" She repeated, pretending not to understand, “Talk about what exactly?”

Sam rolled her eyes, crossing her arms as she stared at her waiting for the moment when her stubborn little sister would put the book aside and give her all her attention.

Tara took a minute longer than she had calculated but finally she let out a heavy sigh and marking the page where she was in the story, she set the book down on the table and looked at her sister's curious brown eyes.

“How exactly did you find out? We haven't told anyone.” She asked with curiosity.

“Mindy,” She replaid, grinning. “She called me completely freak out to tell me that the most gross thing have happened and to put some sense into you.”

Tara's neutral expression slipped, "And that's the reason why you want to talk about it? Because you want to change my mind?”

The tall brunette shook her head. "Of course not, I'm not exactly the best person to give advice about boys. Besides, I like Chad, I have always liked the twins."

“I think Chad would be over the moon if he were to hear you. For some reason he though you wouldn't approve of me dating him because of the bad reputation football players have.”

“They do have a bad reputation, but we both know he is harmless and totally a simp for the girl he falls for. Although, I must say the news took me by surprise, I never thought Chad would be exactly your type."

Tara bit her lower lip in consideration, "Yeah, I think it caught us off guard, too." She looked up to the kitchen where they could see the twins discussing about the choice of dinner for that night and with an affectionate smile she looked back at her sister.

"But I think it was a nice surprise for a change."

Sam nodded, reaching out to place her hands on top of her little sister's, "Does that mean I don't have to have some scary big sister talk with him?"

Tara laughed and her hands squeezed those of her sister. "You can if you want to, but I don't think his poor heart can take a threat from you."

"What a shame...I think Mindy was looking forward to that."

Tara picked up the book from the table again, "I bet so."

They returned to their comfortable silence but only for a few minutes because the next moment they heard Mindy's voice from the kitchen saying.

"Okay you know what, let's settle this once and for all!" When the two sisters looked up they saw the twins in the doorway.

"What happened?" Sam asked raising an eyebrow, even Tara put her book down to focus on both siblings before her eyes went solely on Chad.

"This idiot thinks the best food in New York is a hamburger and now he won't let me call that pizza restaurant we saw the other day." Mindy explained briefly, throwing daggers at her brother.

Chad snorted, "It's your fault for saying we were going to have the best food in New York, of course now I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger!"

Tara and Sam exchanged a look as if to say, "I'm glad we're not like that." before Mindy's voice caught their attention.

"Having a twin brother is a nightmare." Mindy stated with a roll of her eyes, "Okay, we'll be civil and let Tara and Sam decide."

"Us?" They said at the same time.

"Yes, and don't you dare try to use those manipulative puppy eyes of yours on your girlfriend! " Mindy warned, pointing her finger at her brother.

Chad gasped, offended.

"I didn't even think about it!"

"Good, because it won't work on Tara, she loves pizza more than anything." Sam said feeling sorry for Chad.

Mindy smiled victoriously, “Yes! I knew I like you for a reason.”

"Babe?" He tried to sweet talk his innocent looking girlfriend. However, any hope dissapeared when Tara gave him an apologetic smile. "Sorry, but I really like pizza."

“I guess you also like pizza.” He said to Sam who just nodded patting him on the shoulder.

"Yasss! Take that loser." Mindy said before returning to the kitchen to ask for delivery.

Chad gave her the middle finger and then walked over to Tara. He stood behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders.

“Are you mad? We can order both if you want.” She said raising her head to look at him.

"Nah, it's better if we let her have this one." He replied as if he hadn't been outnumbered.

Tara smiled and he lowered his face to hers to press a quick kiss to her cheek.

Sam watched their exchange like a proud parent, she was very happy for her baby sister.
