Chapter Text

"Stanley, are you feeling alright?"

An office worker shook his head a bit, trying to clear it of the cloudiness that had taken over the past few runs. He brought up his hands and signed, [I'm fine.]

"Are you sure? You've been standing there in a daze for quite a long time now. Oh! Perhaps you didn't hear what I said. Here, I will repeat it for you: 'When he came to a pair of two open doors, Stanley entered the door on his left."

Stanley, barely hearing the instructions through the fog in his head, decided that he didn't have the energy to argue with the Narrator. Maybe years of reliving the same scenarios over and over again was finally catching up to him.

He walked through the office, passing gray walls and filing cabinets, retracing the steps he had taken a thousand times before. Stanley started tuning out the Narrator. He had a headache, and his disembodied companion's loud instructions weren't helping much. Stanley wondered what was wrong with him. He had never felt this way before in any of his previous runs. Perhaps the Narrator was trying out a new part of the storyline? If so, he didn't like it very much.

Before he knew it, Stanley was standing in front of the On and Off panel in the Mind Control Facility, ready to finish the Freedom Ending. Again. As Stanley pressed the 'Off' button and the large doors to the outside opened up, he was suddenly hit with a sneezing fit. The pollen from the fresh spring flowers tickled his nose and irritated it. Tears were brought to his eyes with the force of the sneezes.

"And yet, even as the immense doors slowly opened, Stanley reflected on- oh, goodness, Stanley, are you sure you're alright? This is definitely not in my script…" The Narrator started audibly shuffling through papers and mumbling to himself as Stanley continued to sneeze and cough. "Nope, I double checked, and this is not in my script anywhere! Maybe a reset will do the trick…"

Before Stanley could sign anything, his vision faded to black, and bolded words floated across his eyes.
