Chapter Text
I want you.
Sunghoon's heart was beating erratically as he stared at the three words that had just come through from his best friend. His eyes were wide as he watched the incoming text bubble rise and fall for almost a minute.
OH MY GOD
IM SORRY
THAT WAS SUNOO NOT ME
He didn't know whether to let out a sigh of relief or confusion as the apologies kept making his phone ding throughout his empty bedroom.
It's fine
It's all he could say.
What was he supposed to reply with?? Oh, it's cool! It's not like I've ever thought about you like that or anything. Sunghoon lets out a small laugh at that, knowing that he has never in his life had those thoughts about a certain kitty-eyed boy.
Shaking his head, he glances back at the three words that were supposedly sent by Kim Sunoo, not Sunghoon's best friend, and tried to convince himself his face wasn't getting redder.
I'm sorry, hyung
I said it was fine Jungwon, it was just a prank
He decided to let it go right away, his fingers weren't itching to text the boy his true thoughts. He couldn't let his impulsive thoughts win with this one.
Okay hyung, goodnight :)
Goodnight Wonnie <3
•••
Sunghoon stretched his arms out, squeezing his eyes shut when the sun that shines through his curtain blinds him. He moves his left arm out until it hits something soft and most definitely alive. He smiles softly to himself before turning on his side and opening his eyes to see such an angelic sleeping face beside him.
He doesn't even need to question why the boy is here, or how he even got here when Sunghoon knows his mother probably let him in regardless of what Sunghoon was doing.
After glancing at the time, knowing they'll have to get up for school soon enough, Sunghoon wants to savor these few moments with his best friend.
Carefully he scoots closer, moving an arm to wrap around the younger's waist and pulls him as close as possibly allowed.
Jungwon just let out a quiet sigh of comfort before nuzzling his face further into Sunghoons chest where he lays.
The sight isn't odd for the two boys, instead something they've done a great number of mornings before school.
Yang Jungwon. Sunghoon's absolute best friend since the two of them could even talk. They practically grew up in each other's houses. Sleepovers were a main occurrence between the two boys, and the awkward stages of cuddling moved by quite quickly, now instead the two boys find comfort in each other's touch.
Sunghoon's favorite moments were when he woke up and his best friend was plastered to his side, or taking up most of the fluffy comforter that sits atop both of them. He always felt immediately at ease when the younger was in his sight, or better yet, in his arms.
Yet they were just friends. Best friends.
"Jungwon-ah" Sunghoon whispered into the smaller's hair, not wanting to move but also knowing they would both be late otherwise, again.
"Shh," Jungwon slightly shakes his head, burying himself deeper into Sunghoon's toned chest. "Not yet, hyung."
Sunghoon could only chuckle softly at the boy, bringing his hand up to card his fingers through the soft, brown hair that laid in almost every direction.
Cute, the older thought to himself.
"Cmon Wonnie, we're gonna be late." He whispered, trying to remove the tired boy off of him to try and get ready for the day.
"No," Jungwon denied, holder tighter onto a confused Sunghoon. Usually the younger would have folded by now, always eager and ready for what lies ahead at school.
They're both quiet for a moment until Sunghoon tilts Jungwons head up by his chin, the youngers eyes still closed.
"Is something wrong?" Sunghoon asks as Jungwon's eyes slowly blink open. Sunghoon swears his heart doesn't constrict in his chest, bursting for the boy in front of him.
Jungwon closes his eyes, letting his head flop against the extra pillow Sunghoon keeps on his bed for instances like this. "Let's skip school today, hyung," Jungwon whispers, rolling over on his side so his back faces Sunghoon.
Sunghoon tries not to be confused, but the younger boy has never been the type to skip school. The boy has always been studious, and never wants an absent mark on his record.
Sunghoon wordlessly moves yet even closer again, his chest pressing against the smaller boy's back, arms wrapping around him again. Jungwon is glad they're not facing each other because he feels his face heat up.
"What's wrong, Wonnie. This isn't like you." Sunghoon tries to ask again, his fingers fiddling with the bottom hem of Jungwon's shirt, fingers dangerously close to slipping under the fabric.
Jungwon can't reply. His brain is completely focused on the feather like touches the older boy leaves on his stomach, and he wills himself to calm down.
"Wonnie," and there it is, the tender touch slips beneath the thin fabric of the younger's t-shirt, and presses softly against the toned skin. Goosebumps erupt over the expanse of Jungwon's skin, and now he's even less capable of providing an answer to his hyung.
All common sense slips out his head as he can only lay there, blinking, not wanting to remove himself from the warmness that is called Park Sunghoon.
He's only reminded of his distaste for school that morning when a quick, almost sharp-like pain stabs at his head, and he tries to suppress a groan, but knows he didn't do a very good job of it.
Sadness fills Jungwon as Sunghoon's hand is removed from beneath his shirt, but he doesn't have enough time to sulk when Sunghoon is lightly pushing his shoulder so he lays on his back, the older almost hovering over him.
"Jungwonie, are you okay?" Sunghoon asks, concern written vividly all over his face, his hand moving from the boy's shoulder to his face, tucking a sweaty strand of hair behind his ear.
Jungwon doesn't have time to feel the butterflies when he instead feels like absolute garbage. He knew it from the moment he woke up at his own house this morning, but decided to shrug it off, but still wanting the comfort of his best friend.
Sunghoon's mom had smiled at Jungwon only for a moment before a frown covered her face. "Jungwon," she said in concern after letting him inside. "Honey, you're as pale as the sand, do you not feel well?" She asks, bringing her hand up to his forehead and he shakes his head, resisting tears.
"Did your mother say anything?" She asks, handing the boy a muffin she had just taken out of the oven.
"I-" Jungwon hesitates, observing the muffin, "I didn't say anything." He mutters with a pout, now as he stands there feeling like this, he wishes he had. "I wanted to see Sunghoonie." He whispers.
Sunghoon's mother smiles softly at the boy, "Alright, well you go up to him, he's probably still asleep at this time." She offers, pointing to the stairs, "You should stay home Wonnie, get Sunghoon to stay with you as well. I'm off to work. Feel better honey."
Jungwon thanks her sincerely before disappearing up the stairs and into the older boy's room, where he lays now.
He keeps his eyes closed when he feels the hot tears slowly form behind his eyelids, not wanting to worry Sunghoon, but knowing there isn't much he can do to stop him from finding out.
When his head starts pounding even more, Jungwon opens his eyes and lets the tears silently slide down his face. Sunghoon's own eyes widen at the sight before he is immediately wiping the younger's tears away with his thumbs.
"I don't feel good." Is all he can get out in a whisper, hating how he feels his nose start to run. Sunghoon wordlessly reaches over him to grab a tissue, softly wiping the younger's face.
"Why didn't you say something earlier Jungwon?" Sunghoon asks, continuing to tip the smaller boy's tears off of his face, pushing his hair back off of his sweaty forehead. "I'm sorry," Jungwon whispers, turning his head to face away.
Sunghoon turns it back with his fingers. The two make eye contact and Sunghoon can't deny the fact that he loves the boy in front of him more than anything in the world. "Don't apologize, baby." He whispers.
Jungwon's already ragged breath hitches at hearing what Sunghoon just called him, and he can't help but continue to cry even more.
The older boy does his best to calm the crying boy down enough so he can breathe without struggling. They go through a decent amount of Sunghoon's tissues, but the older doesn't mind.
Jungwon's eyes droop as the tears come fewer and farther between. Sunghoon glances at the clock, knowing it's halfway through first period and all of their friends are definitely wondering where they are by now, but Sunghoon doesn't concern himself with it.
"Cuddle me, hyung." A sleepy Jungwon opens his arms, waiting for Sunghoon to hold him so they could fall back asleep. "Anything for you, my Jungwonie."
•••
How was Jungwon feeling last night?
Sunghoon texts Sunoo after he had woken up a couple of hours later, Jungwon still fast asleep in his arms.
??? I don't know. I wasn't with him.
Sunghoon furrows his eyebrows,
But he said you were the one who sent that text from his phone last night?
OH MY GOD HE SENT IT???
I'm confused, Sunoo. Were you not with Jungwon last night???
NO BUT WE WERE ON THE PHONE
HE TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO TEXT YOU SOMETHING
Sunoo
I DIDN'T KNOW HE SENT IT
WHY DID HE SAY I SENT IT???
I BET HE CHICKENED OUT
Sunoo
HE FINALLY FOUND THE COURAGE TO CONFESS AND HE BACKED OUT??
...
Confess?
I've said too much 😳
WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?
YAH
KIM SUNOO GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW
•••
Sunoo has managed to avoid Sunghoon's questioning since he texted him now a week ago. Jungwon and Sunghoon had stayed in Sunghoon's room, the older taking care of the younger until he got better.
The two of them were back at school now, currently sitting in the cafeteria as they waited for the rest of their friends to arrive. Sunghoon had pretty much come to the conclusion Jungwon liked him, but chickened out on telling him after he probably had the confidence that lasted for half a second that one night.
Sunghoon didn't let that make him nervous, he embraced that information.
Little comments here and there, unnecessary contact between the two of them whether it was an arm around the younger's shoulder, or a hand on his thigh. He liked seeing Jungwon pretend he wasn't getting affected by the older at all, it was cute.
currently the two of them were sitting in a corner booth, Sunghoon with his phone in one hand, scrolling carelessly through his Instagram, while his other hand was almost covering the expanse of Jungwon's left thigh.
The younger had been quite tired this morning, so he sat with his head leaning on the older's shoulder, his hands resting atop Sunghoon's on his thigh. He hadn't even been flustered this time, instead he cuddled closer and let the boy hold him.
Although the smaller boy's eyes were closed, he can easily hear it when his friends approached the pair.
"Yang Jungwon, why haven't the homework answers been sent to me yet?" A sassy Ni-ki asks as he takes a seat across from the pair.
"Yah, leave him alone." Sunghoon says without lifting his eyes from the screen.
"And it's hyung to you, Mr." Jungwon says, eyes remaining closed and head remaining leaned up against Sunghoon.
"Ooh, sassy sheep garden." Sunoo mutters, settling himself beside Jungwon, the latter opening his eyes briefly to give Sunoo a glare.
"What's up with you today Jungwon-ah?" Heeseung asks, sliding in besides Ni-ki, hitting the Youngers hand when he reacher's up to try and touch the older's hair.
"Guys-" Sunghoon starts before a happy looking puppy approaches the table.
"I brought snacks!" he announces, sliding in beside Heeseung, dropping multiple bags of snacks on the table, grabbing one, and tearing it open right away. The rest follow suit while Jungwon and Sunghoon don't move at all.
"Yah, you always pick the smallest booths," The last of them, Jay, complains as he approaches the table, not seeing a place for him to sit. He looks around but doesn't see a chair he could pull up.
"Here," Jake scoots closer into Heeseung's side as the older tries not to blush, and pats the seat beside him. "That's big enough for you, tiny." Jake teases.
Jay rolls his eyes as he puts his bag on the ground. "I'm older than you," he pouts, leaning his head on the table. Jake smiles widely at the cute boy, before resuming eating.
"Jungwon, aren't you hungry for snacks?" Sunoo asks, holding up Jungwon's favorite cookies in front of the boy. He opens his eyes, and doesn't feel the cookies look too appealing.
He's definitely well rested and feeling better, but he's still not feeling his best.
He shakes his head. "You can have them, hyung."
Sunoo looks at home for a moment before shrugging and eating the cookies.
Sunghoon puts his phone down on the table, sitting quietly while the others converse among themselves, quite noisily too. He glances between all of them, thankful to have them in his life, then his eyes land on Jungwon.
Jungwon who definitely looks like he's pretty much asleep at this point, head lolling on Sunghoon's shoulder. The older's hand is still on the boy's thigh, and he begins to move his thumb back and forth, comfortingly.
Sunoo pretends he doesn't see it, and continues laughing at Heeseung's attempt to not let the zero distance between him and Jake affect him, while Jake sits clueless between him and Jay.
"Does Jungwon still not feel good, Sunghoon-hyung?" Ni-ki asks from his seat across the pair. Sunghoon shakes his head. "It's not as bad, but not the best." He answers.
"Haven't you been taking care of him this whole time?" Heeseung asks, trying not to be obvious as he presses his leg against Jake's.
"I mean yeah, why wouldn't I?" Sunghoon asks, confused why he wouldn't be helping Jungwon.
"Oh nothing," Heeseung smirks, moving his own hand to rest atop of Jake's thigh, and noting how the latter momentarily stops chewing his food before quickly resuming.
"Do you like Jungwon-hyung?" Ni-ki outright asks the boy being questioned. Sunghoon tries not to choke on his saliva.
"What?" Ni-ki asks, looking around the table as they all stare at Ni-ki, "What am I supposed to know here?"
Sunghoon shakes his head, "I mean," he looks over at Sunoo's knowing glance. "Yeah, he's a cutie."
They all smile at Sunghoon's answer, and Sunoo grins to himself, tapping Jungwon's other thigh. He knows the younger boy has been awake this whole time.
As to not appear suspicious, and while also trying not to die inside, Jungwon 'wakes up', stretching his arms out, and glancing at everyone.
"What?" He asks, looking up at Sunghoon who can't help but smile fondly at the small boy. "Nothing, Wonnie." He answers, ruffling his hair.
Jungwon and Sunoo share a knowing glance before they're all soon enough fighting about the most random thing.
•••
Another week passed and now Jungwon was feeling much, much better. The two boys knew of their feelings for each other, but neither wanted to admit it out loud to each other in fear of rejection.
The platonic touches turned not-so-platonic as the days went on. Sunghoon didn't realize how much of a clingy person he was until Jungwon was just as clingy back.
The two boys were currently laying in Sunghoon's bed, having just gotten back from school. It was now the weekend and neither of the boys had plans.
They were, obviously, cuddled together on Sunghoon's queen sized bed, but weren't taking up much space at all.
They were both lying on their sides, facing each other. Sunghoon's arms were wrapped around Jungwon's waist, his hands having slipped underneath the fabric of Jungwon's t-shirt, pressed firmly against skin.
Jungwon's hands were also curled around Sunghoon, his hand touching the bare skin of Sunghoon's back.
Sunghoon could feel Jungwon's breath against his neck from where his chin was rested against the younger's head, and he knew that neither of them were asleep.
It felt different this time, like at any moment their dynamic could completely change.
And he wasn't wrong.
"Sunghoon-hyung," Jungwon whispered against the older's chest, his fingers fluttering lightly against Sunghoon's back.
"Hmm?" Sunghoon hummed, one hand holding Jungwon's waist, the other softly carding through his hair.
"I want you."
It was barely a whisper. Barely a whisper, yet Sunghoon felt as if he heard it loud and clear. He decided to pretend he didn't.
He pulls back, letting Jungwon's face up by his chin, making eye contact with the younger.
"You've gotta speak up, baby." He says softly, knowing the affect he's giving the younger.
Jungwon's mouth falls open slightly, a sound falling from his lips at the pet name falling from Sunghoon's mouth.
He scoots himself up so the two lay eye-level.
"I want you, Sunghoon-hyung." Jungwon says more confidently this time.
Sunghoon smiles at him. "That's all you had to say love."
He didn't give Jungwon a chance to respond before he's kissing the younger.
A sigh of relief falls from the younger's mouth, his hands reaching up to Sunghoon's hair as he kisses back with all his might.
The older grips the younger, moving himself so he hovers atop of the boy, cupping his face as the two move their lips as passionately as possible.
All the unknown tension between the two boys slips away as they lay together, expressing their feelings through hard kisses, but eventually get softer and lighter
Sunghoon pulls his head back from Jungwon who lays there breathless, his hands never leaving Sunghoon's hair.
Sunghoon finds his out of breath, swollen lipped face so cute, he can't help but steal another kiss from the rose pink lips.
"I was only gonna last so much longer until I had to kiss you," Sunghoon whispered as he and Jungwon looked into each other's eyes. "I was so close to crumbling my walls down for you." He admitted.
Jungwon nodded in agreement.
"It wasn't Sunoo." He says quietly, fingers fiddling with the locks of the older's hair.
"Hmm?" Sunghoon hums in question, moving a strand of hair out of the younger's eyes.
"That text that night, that wasn't Sunno-hyung. It was me." He confesses, looking down in embarrassment.
"I know," Sunghoon says simply, smirking when they younger's eyes shoot up to meet his.
"How?" He asks, pulling Sunghoon closer so the two boys continue cuddling.
"I asked," Sunghoon smiled, pressing another kiss to Jungwon's pouting lips.
"Hyung," he drawls out, hiding his face in embarrassment. "That's so awkward." He giggles.
"At least we know the truth now, don't we baby."
Jungwon's face turns red, but he nods.
"Yeah, I think we do."
