Chapter Text
When she wakes up, she knows that it's nighttime already. It's the same routine every day, every night, every second she counts. How long has it been? Too long no doubt. She couldn't for the life of her to remember anything before that. Everything was blurry, rushed and a hint of blood and fear. She couldn't figure it out where the fear had come from.
Rey wasn't afraid of anything. She had long encounters with every species that was name under the sun. Opossums, raccoons, badgers, a skunk here or there. Bears, mountain lions and humans.
Rey wrinkles her nose in disgust.
Humans were animals. Horrible creatures.
They did what they wanted. Take what they wanted. Ran her off her small den and tried to shoot her when she is practically dying of starvation. It was kill or be killed. She chose the first when she entered the chicken pin to snatch a squawking chicken and ran for her life when the farmer brought his gun out to shoot her. She had gotten away in time and enjoyed her meal without much thought. She did not see it as a problem and worry not about the farmer.
Until she came across another coyote that was in a trap. She was so startled that she barely heard the man come from the bushes and hid behind to watch.
The man stared at the other coyote that was trap with hatred in his eyes. The man was fat, wrinkly and smelled of alcohol.
"Stupid vermin," the man muttered. "Now that I finally have you, your dead meat." The man growled.
The other coyote did not back down and showed its fangs at the man. Knowing its time was coming to an end it will not succumb to fear.
The man raises his gun and shoots the coyote in the head.
Rey saw red at the fallen coyote.
Monsters. All of them.
Enrage, she jumps from her hiding place and attacks the man.
The man didn't have time to aim at her, so she knocks him down to the hard ground successfully and swipes the weapon from his bare hands.
Rey snarls, baring her teeth at him, ready to aim at his throat.
The fat man blocks his throat in time only for her to bite at his wrist. Rey jerks him back and forth, enjoying the man's screams.
"Let go of me, you damn vermin!" The fat man screams.
This is what you deserve. You humans have no idea how hard it is to survive on your own.
Fighting for survival. Finding your home disturb.
Can't remember anything from back then.
You will pay dearly!
She can taste his blood and savored it while she heard his delightful gasp of agony and pain. She made sure his weapon wasn't near them. That thing can easily kill her, but she'll make sure he suffers first before he tries to end her.
She went from his wrist down to his forearm and jerk it back and forth for good measure.
The fat man tried to push her away, but she was too strong. Too enrage of what was happening. He deserves this! Her mind slowly comes back to her when she notices the man reaching his weapon while she's biting his right arm to shreds. She finally let's go and runs back towards deeper into the woods where she was sure he couldn't find her.
She can hear him firing and cursing her to death. If she had lips, she'd had the audacity to smirk at him. Serves him right. In her mind, she had wounded the fat man and avenge the fallen coyote.
Rey knows humans are despicable, rotten creatures. They are greedy, ruthless, have no mercy for anything. Her kind was considered scavengers so then she tries to make the best of it. What else could be done?
She didn't know anyone.
Didn't have anyone.
She was all alone and knew that it would remain forever.
🌕🌙🌕
When she made sure she wasn't followed, she slowly climbs into her den and lays there huffing in her deep den. The dirt wasn't so much as a comfort though it was better than rocks and sticks. She can still taste that horrid fat man's blood.
Rotten to the core.
She hope's he's suffering right now.
Let's see how well you can hold onto that contraption now that your arm is useless.
Rey burrows deeper into the den and finally sleeps.
🌕🌙🌕
A sudden loud noise alarms her awake from her sleeping place. She eyes the entrance and notices its morning. She can hear the commotion outside her den.
She takes a good sniff and growls low in her throat.
It's that odious fat man again.
This time at her den.
And he wasn't alone.
