Chapter Text
A clear, sunny and peaceful day. The bright blue sky was adorned scarcely by equally bright white and fluffy clouds. It's always like this during the summers here. In fact, summer was the only time of the year where everything stayed the same, year after year. The other months had its perks, but summer rarely changed from its usual quota.
The days were longer and warmer, children were being let out of school for their break, the usual fairs and events were opening up to capitalize on the increase of people who were free to do as they please. Everything was how it always was.
... Well, I guess now it wasn't as normal as it used to be. That being because of a certain recently turned blue, recently turned giant, hedgehog. It was certainly an experience to see him roaming around. His giant stature and blue colour made him easy to spot basically anywhere.
All the sudden attention on him was rather jarring at first, but at the end of the day, he didn't mind it. The people who weren't unnerved or scared of his presence were nice to him at least. Mostly it was the children, though.
But right now he wasn't around anyone. Right now, he was alone, resting against the barred green hills he called home. The warm sun shone across his body, it made him tired. Maybe he'd take a well deserved nap. Though, the last time he fell asleep in the sun, it burned his body and made his quills twice as dark as it usually was, luckily that wasn't permanent.
"Sonic. Sonic are you there?" A voice called into his ear.
It was from an earpiece, the only way he could stay in contact with his friends as he didn't have a phone anymore. He couldn't really use a phone if he wanted to, not unless someone made one that could fit in his hands. Hmm... maybe he should ask Tails to make him one.
"I'm here, Tails." Sonic responded as he pressed a finger to his ear. "What's shakin?"
"Well, we sort of have a situation down here at G. U. N. It's not too serious, but I think you should come check it out."
Sonic groaned. "Ugh, right now? I was having a nice time doing nothing and being away from people!"
"Sonic..."
"Okay okay, I'll be there in ten."
"Thanks."
Sonic stood up and stretched. First his back then his legs then his arms. Making a satisfying groan as he readied himself to get moving again. "Alright. Let's see what the problem is this time." And he sped off at the speed of sound.
"Alright I'm here!" Sonic said as he walked towards the group. "What's the.... Uh..."
Sonic stared at the scene before him. His friends surrounded a silver coloured hedgehog who was tied up as tight as one can be. His mouth was ducktaped tight and he was encased in thick amounts of tinfoil. They'll need to restock the kitchen because of this. The silver hedgehog was very surprised and hostile seeing sonic in front of him.
"...Why is there a guy tied up?"
"This guy came in and started talking crap about you!" Knuckles grunted. "He wouldn't shut up so we tied him up and put tape over his mouth."
Sonic sighed and sat in front of them. "Alright. Well, I'm here. Unductape him so we can figure this all out."
"Fine by me!" Knuckles grinned and immediately ripped off the tape that covered the hedgehog's mouth.
"OW!!!" The silver hedgehog shouted.
"Ah quit whining! I'm already sick of you from insulting Sonic earlier! Calling him a monster!"
"Yeah! He's very sensitive about that!" Tails said.
"Why should I care about that? Why should ANY of you care about that!" The silver hedgehog barked. "That guy IS a MONSTER! He's acting nice now, but sooner or later he's gonna wreak havoc!"
"Okay, calm down buddy." Sonic waved a dismissive hand. "I know it's jarring seeing a giant hedgehog, but-"
"I'm not talking about being scared of you! I'm talking about the CHAOS that I have seen you do! You MONSTER!"
"Destroying a giant robot and an alien space ship?" Knuckels said in question. "I'm pretty sure he was trying to save the world with that one!"
"IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT EITHER!" The hedgehog screamed.
"Then what?" Shadow said.
"I'm talking about the destruction he's GOING to cause! Cars crushed, buildings ruined, people terrified! The amount of chaos he's going to bring will be worse than anything this world has to offer!"
"You're saying that like you've seen it happen." Tails said.
"Because I have!"
"Yeah right! Sonic hasn't done anything like that!" Knuckles said. He paused before turning to sonic. "Right?" Sonic nodded.
"That's because I'm from the future! A future destroyed by that giant monster!"
They all paused. Then laughed at the silver hedgehog and his explanation.
"From the future?!" Knuckles snorted. "Oh my god that's the best thing I've heard all day!"
"I'M SERIOUS!!!"
"Right. If you're really from the future..." knuckles began as he pulled out his cellphone. "What would I see when I look at the news today?"
"Fire erupts out of a gas pipe near a resident household in Emerald Village..."
Knuckles paused as he looked at his phone.
"Well?" Sonic said.
".... Posted five minutes ago..."
They all stared at knuckles, then they turned to the hedgehog who now felt a bit nervous having all the attention set on him, but he didn't let his nervousness show as he hero his brow furrowed. He had been tied up with them for more than half an hour at this point, there was no way he would know what was on the news.
"You're ACTUALLY from the future?!" Tails beamed with a big grin stretched across his face, getting nice and close to the silver time traveler.
"Yes!" The hedgehog shouted. "I've been trying to-"
"How is that possible? How are you even able to time travel? Is it like some sort of Time Machine?" He leaned in closer with his grin getting wider. "Know any lottery numbers?"
"You're not going to cheat at the lottery, Tails." Sonic said flatly.
"Come on!"
"LISTEN TO ME!!!!" The silver hedgehog screamed. "I come from a year in the future, where that giant hedgehog has rampaged throughout the cities! I was sent back to before it all happened! To stop him before he destroys us all!"
"Okay okay. Hold on. Even if you're saying the truth, how do you even know it's sonic?" Knuckles asked.
"Do you know any other giant blue hedgehogs?"
Knuckles opened his mouth, but quickly shut it when he realized that the hedgehog had a point. He shook his head. "Okay, fair point! But it's Sonic! If he was rampaging, I'm sure that it's not entirely his fault!"
"Wait what? What do you mean 'not entirely'?!" Sonic said.
"Uh... we'll... you can get a bit... intense sometimes..." Said Tails with a nervous smile.
Sonic pouted in response, but then his mind started to drift about what the silver hedgehog said.
"Anyways, like I said! Sonic would never do anything like that, even if he wanted to!" Knuckles barked. "The guy teared up because he bumped the table we were standing on!" He pressed his hand to his mouth. "Though that might be because he hit his side too hard."
"That doesn't matter!" The hedgehog shouted again. "Whatever happens, he is going to cause chaos unlike you can ever imagine! NOW UNTIE ME SO I CAN STOP HIM BEFORE HE DOES ANYTHING!!!"
"Yeah, not a chance."
"He does somewhat have a point, though." Tails lightly mumbled. "If something DID eventually happen to make Sonic start rampaging in the future, then we'll need to find out what that thing is..."
Knuckles grumbled out a sigh. "Yeah, you're right." He turned to sonic. "Well Sonic, do you have any idea on what could possibly get you to go crazy?"
Sonic was gone. He left without any of them realizing. Even the silver hedgehog who was facing him didn't notice him leaving the room.
"Okay, how is he able to do that?" Tails said.
"Yeah, I don't know how he did that." Knuckles paused. "..... want to throw rings onto the guys head till Sonic gets back, or something?"
"Yeah, sure, why not." Tails shrugged."
The hedgehog jumped. "WHAT?!"
