Showdown

Summary:

It's the contest of a lifetime. Contestants from four of the Danceverses have come together to represent their homeworlds in a huge and spectacular event called the Showdown! Nothing could possibly go wrong, right? Someone else might have other ideas...

Notes:

Hey hey hey, and WELCOME TO THE SHOWDOWN!

So I just want to say, I don't plan on doing *too* much on this work just yet as I'm kinda waiting on Trenulețul to come to JD to get a feel for the last group of competitors... but for now, let's jump into the amazing, action-packed Showdown!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: A Larger World

Chapter Text

All throughout the Danceverses, an exciting rumor was spreading. No one was quite sure where it had gotten out, but the word going around was that a contest was going to take place soon.

Who was going to be in it? Who was hosting it? What was the prize?

All these questions and more were all everyone in every Danceverse was talking about. Prince Wanderlust had denied that he was behind this, though he was just as excited for this as anyone else was.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the WackyGroove Danceverse...

Two men wearing suits of dark blue were studying the notes they'd made for a routine they'd been practicing. The person on the left wore a pink dress shirt under the suit and on his head, a 3D mask made of many triangles that resembled the shape of a reindeer's head. A. pair of sunglasses sat where the reindeer's eyes would have been. The person on the right wore a dress shirt of banana-yellow under his suit and a 3D mask of a similar style to his partners, except his resembled a panda. He too wore a pair of sunglasses.

"So Deer, you think the fans will like this?" The panda-outfitted coach said to his friend, gesturing to the papers before them. Before the other had a chance to reply, they both hear someone else from a little ways away, calling to them.

"You two! Yeah, you guys!" A man walked over to them and bowed slightly, tipping his brown top hat that had several golden emblems on it to them in a sign of respect. "PandaFan and DeerStan, am I right?"

"Yeah, that's us." the reindeer-masked man said to the stranger. "We're kind of in the middle of something though, can this wait?"

"No, I'm afraid it can't, gentlemen." The top-hatted man said, his golden-booted feet remaining where he stood. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alastair Goldsheen, promoter, performer, and the creator of what just might be the best contest the Danceverses have ever seen."

He felt around in the pocket of his red tailcoated suit jacket, quickly finding what he'd been looking for. "Ah, here it is! Take a look, gentlemen, you just might be interested by this." Alastair said as he passed the flyer to the two friends.

"Want eternal fame and glory? Interested in a chance to enter in the competition of a lifetime? Look no further than...

The Showdown!

Contestants from all across the Danceverses come together on one stage to represent their home worlds in an incredible contest of talent, skill, and presentation.

Think you've got what it takes to represent your Danceverse? Contact Alastair Goldsheen at..."

Both PandaFan and DeerStan were quiet as they looked over the paper Alastair had handed them. "Why us?" The panda-masked performer asked Alastair.

"Don't be so modest, you two! I've heard that your dances in honor of Panda and Rudolph are legendary, tons of people turn up for them. Rumor also has it that when you perform in Dancity, it's quite a big deal. So what do you say? Want a shot to represent WackyGroove in the one and only Showdown?"

The two friends stopped for a moment and starred at the other. This could be it... their big break, the moment that made them famous throughout all the Danceverses...

"We're in!" They both said, giving each other a high five.

"Splendid! I'll take you to the shuttle so we can get underway. This is going to be great!" The three of them left, but as they walked, neither of the two masked coaches happened to notice the wicked gleam in Alastair's eyes....
