Chapter Text
Kokichi’s eyes fluttered open, his long eyelashes against pale skin as he stirred awake. It only took a few seconds before he realized how horribly wrong that statement was.
He gasped, breathing an intake of air as he shot up. Okay. Okay, that was definitely wrong. His lungs were functioning, and his eyes were blown wide open- he still had eyes? The last time he checked, that wasn’t supposed to happen. The last thing he remembered was being revoked of his privilege to be on the land of the living, and here he was! He was undoubtedly functioning somehow. He could feel the fabric of his clothes against his skin despite how that indeed shouldn’t be happening, and he could feel his hands pulling at his purple strands of hair, and he could DEFINITELY feel the way his open mouth tried to desperately catch breaths- oh, wait, he should probably stop panicking. That should be the top thing on his to-do list right now.
Kokichi didn’t notice the way he struggled to take in air as his breathing hitched while he was trembling. Hm. Before he can think about the how, where, when, and who of the situation, he needs to take hold of himself. He’d be a pathetic leader if he didn’t know how to compose himself. He could only hope he was out of anyone’s sight as he was currently vulnerable. After all, he had just woken up again (somehow?), and he wasn’t about to blow his first chance at a first impression. Presentation matters, after all.
While his thoughts were preoccupied with his dumbass narration, his body seemed to be calming down. The only evidence of panic was the sweat sticking strands of hair to his forehead. His nose scrunched up. Ew. He hated that sensation almost as much as he hated the sensation of cold metal against his flesh and bones. Never again. Nuh-uh.
He stood up, stretching his arms up above his head with an obnoxious yawn. Sure, he did not need to be so childish when nobody was around, but he was childish at heart. It wasn’t just an act, but part of his charm that he absolutely had. Mm-hmm. Absolutely. After all, all leaders had to be naturally charming. (Plus, the childish front was the only thing distracting him from the wrong, wrong, wrong-)
Though right now, he had more important matters at hand, so he ignored the pounding of his heart at waking up in an unfamiliar place once again. His first question? How. How was he awake, and what sort of fucked up occurrence decides to disturb him of his eternal slumber? How rude! Once he actually had answers for that, he’d give whatever or whoever did that to him a piece of his mind. Admittedly, he had no idea what happened to him after he died. He didn’t know if he woke up in the afterlife if there was any. He briefly wondered about his killing game ending plan but brushed it off as he had no idea where he was and whether or not he was in danger. He files away his crisis into cabinets later because he does not want to become vulnerable when he is currently unaware of his situation.
The second question is where. Where on Earth was he? He took a cast around the area he woke up in. He was on some sort of shore, sand sticking to his clothes from where he was unconscious and the lingering salt of the ocean water in the air. If he didn’t know any better (which was impossible anyway, he always knew better), he would have thought he woke up in some sort of tropical afterlife. However, he ruled that off as impossible due to how he was breathing. He can smell the salt water and feel the sand that coated his clothes, which, yuck. He huffed, dusting his backside off to get rid of the sand. It felt grainy against his hands. Ah, touch. He still had his five senses, and with that, he was sure he was currently alive. He could hear the ocean, smell the air, see the palm trees, feel the touch of the sand he cleaned… Ah, well, he wasn’t sure about taste. He could eat some sand, but he wasn’t particularly up to that right now. Maybe later. At least he had four of his senses confirmed.
Moving onto the third question… when. Did he wake up directly after his death? Did the killing game end? Was it still going? Well, he couldn’t get any definite answers now, similar to how he had no idea how he was alive. Perhaps he can figure it out like he always does.
Last of all, who. Who was here? Was there anyone even here? Well, the only way to find out was to explore. It seems he woke up on an island, and if he was correct, he could see more in the distance, and yet… It seemed practically ghosted. Though maybe, the answers to his questions can be figured out once he actually takes a look around this island. With his objective in mind, his face lit up as a grin was slapped onto his face as he set to explore. After all, he couldn’t take the situation at face value! Despite how the traitorous pounding of his heart betrayed how nervous he truly was at the unknown, his mischievous grin can barrage through anything. He was the Ultimate Supreme Leader, for fuck’s sake! He couldn’t afford to be uncertain.
Crossing his hands behind his head, he leaned back as he explored. He looked way too casual as if he was out on a stroll. However, his calculated eyes swept over the area. He paused his stride as he skipped to some sort of surveillance camera on the sandy beach. He hummed, looking to the side to see a monitor on a nearby palm tree. He raised his eyebrows. So, wherever he was, they were being… Monitored. Some sort of uncomfortable feeling rose in his stomach at how familiar this situation seemed to be when he first woke up in the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, but he couldn’t afford to jump to conclusions. He had to investigate more to see where he was.
He walked further until he reached some sort of airport. He smiled widely, entering through the door and spotting airplanes through the glass at the back entrance. Before he could skip to examine them, there were two occupants in the building. There was a small child in a bright orange-furred parka, blonde hair peeking from under his hood. Oooh, yikes, he snickered quietly. The kid must be some sort of absolute beast to be able to withstand the heat of a tropical island inside of a parka. The other person was quite tall, standing at about 5’6 (okay, well, not quite tall, more like average height, but when you’re 5 foot fucking 1, everyone is quite taller than you) with long, sleek raven hair running down their back. They wore a flowy, beautiful white dress with white mary janes. Jeez, talk about a color palette. This person looked as if she were dressed for some sort of funeral. She was kneeling down, speaking to the kid with a gentle smile on her face.
He decided to skip over and disturb the peace. “Gooooood morning! I’m not late to the party, am I?” he spoke with a bounce in his step, trying his best to sound as annoying as possible.
No Sense of Color Palette looked up at the new appearance. Despite his loud voice, she gave him a gentle smile as well (which was weird and unfamiliar because who smiles at him so softly?) as she stood up. “Well, of course not. The more, the merrier, they say,” she said. Upon closer look, she had bags under her eyes against her pale skin. A look in her eyes shows that she’s beyond exhausted but holding together a soft composure. Most likely for the kid. Hm. Intriguing.
The kid looked up at him. “Ppfmfp, mfpmppffm,” he said. Ah, yes. Mm-hmm. He totally understood that.
Upon seeing the blink Kokichi sent in response, the girl laughed. “Oh! He’s saying hello,” she said, somehow managing to understand what he said. “I guess I should introduce myself, hmm? I’m Mari Suzuki,” she smiled. Okay, now this is starting to get weird because, seriously, who the hell smiles that much at him?
“And this one is Kenny McCormick!” Mari smiles, introducing the kid to him. She lowered her hand, ruffling Kenny’s hair through his hood. Despite his face being hidden, it was easy to see how he beamed and how the edges of his eyes crinkled.
Okay. Well, damn. Normally, he’d go out of his way to be extra annoying most of the time, but children were around, and he had the decency to act less Kokichi-like. He definitely didn’t have a soft spot for kids, nope, not at all. He just had to set an amazing impression (no problem at all for him) to see if these new people would be interested in being one of his subordinates! Once the kid’s grown up, of course, if he is interested in his super secret organization.
“Well, well, well! The name’s Kokichi Ouma, Ultimate Supreme Leader,” Kokichi grinned. If you didn’t know any better, you would’ve mistaken his annoying tone of voice for boasting. “Though, you better refer to me as Ouma! Or else all of my 10,000 plus henchmen will get you!” he exclaimed excitedly.
Mari giggled, placing a hand over her mouth. “Henchmen, hmm? What will they do?” she smiled as if she was playing along.
“Wellllllll…” he began, examining his fingernails. “Why don’t I list the forms of torture for you?!” he exclaimed. “First, they’ll rearrange all of your silverware to go in different cabinets! And then, in the middle of the night, they’ll steal your sense of fashion! But- oh, no, it looks like it already happened!” he gasped, pointing at her plain clothes. “Oh, the humanity!” Admittedly, it wasn’t his usual answer. It usually involved more limb dismemberment, but once again, a child was currently present. Besides, a rearranged kitchen is still a very cruel method of torture. Yes, yes, how devious!
Mari laughed, her eyes roaming downwards to her dress. “Oh, no! It appears they have!” she cried, still humoring him. Oddly enough, she reminded him of Amami.
Before he could respond, Kenny spoke. “Fmfpmffmpmffppmmmmfmpmpp Fmmfmfpfmpffmppppmmpp Pmfmppmmmmpmmpppff? Fmpmfpmpp mpffmfmmfpmp mfffmm fmpmfpmmmfmp?”
“Language, Kenny!” Mari exclaimed, lightly scolding him. Then she hummed in thought. “Though, that is a good thing to bring up… Hey, Ouma? What do you mean by Ultimate Supreme Leader?”
He raised an eyebrow. Due to their names, it was easy to figure out they weren’t from Japan, but the concept of Ultimate Talents was typically known nonetheless. “If you must ask, I’m actually the leader of a secret evil organization!” he beamed widely, folding his hands behind his head. “You’re super lucky I’m telling you this information! If you knew more, I’d have to go out of my way to dispose of you!”
“Oh! So it's like your title?" Mari asked.
“Yeah, silly! It's my Ultimate Talent!" he laughed. “What, don't tell me you have no idea what an Ultimate Talent is?"
Mari looked down at Kenny to see if he had any sort of recognition on his face. He didn't, so she looked back at Kokichi. “Actually, not at all.”
Oh. Well, that was surprising, but hey, he expected it. “It's very simple! Growing up, I was super good at being a natural-born leader! You have to be, of course, to have such a big organization such as mine. For my outstanding talent, I was scouted to be the Ultimate Supreme Leader!” he smiled proudly. "When you're an Ultimate, you're the best at what you do! So amongst our presence, you must get on one knee and bow! You, peasants, are disrespecting royalty right now!”
At the end of his explanation, Mari had an amused expression on her face. Kenny didn’t seem to be taking any of his shit, but he didn’t look annoyed at him for it. “That’s really impressive! When do people usually get scouted?” Mari asked.
“During high school, duh! I’m the king of my school, actually,” he smirked. “It’s fitting for me, after all!”
“High school?” she repeated, her eyes widening. “Wow! I expected you to be younger, but that’s amazing,” she smiled softly.
He raised an eyebrow. She expected me to be younger? Rude! he thought. Is that why she’s been treating and playing along with me like a kid? Wow, talk about judging people’s heights!
“Mmmpmfpmf fmpmfpmmmfmp mmmfmmmffmpmmpp,” Kenny said, straight to the point, “Mpmppf ffmppffmf pmppppppffpp mfpppffpp fppmpp fppppfpmpmpp fmfpfm mfpmpppffmpp?”
“Oh, right,” Mari hummed. “Ouma, you wouldn’t mind telling us how you woke up here, would you? Both Kenny and I woke up on the beach with a few others, and the last thing we remember… Well, Kenny says that he remembers being at school, and I-” she paused. Kokichi raised an eyebrow, watching the hesitance in the way her eyebrows furrowed. Just the small change was able to tell him that she was about to lie- or at least avoid a subject. “I remember… Being with my brother. What about you?”
Kokichi slightly narrowed his eyes. Suspicious, but it didn’t seem to bring up some sort of problem as of now. It’s not like he’ll tell them where he was, either. “Oh, it’s simple, really! I was running from those meanie cops, and the next thing I expected, I was here! Those guys need to know when to stop chasing,” he pouted.
Mari’s eyes widened at his words. Oddly enough, Kenny didn’t seem slightly phased whatsoever. Damn, what the hell is this kid used to cops for? “The cops?!”
He snickered at her reaction. “Oh, but that was a lie! I was actually in a magical dream world with sprout-like creatures and a gigantic cat!”
Mari blinked, processing his words before realizing he was messing around. Despite that, she smiled patiently. “That’s great, Ouma, but I’d really like it if you were serious right now.” Eugh. She was too much like Amami. Makes sense, considering she apparently had a brother like he had sisters.
“Hmmmmm…” he put his hand to his chin to mimic as if he were thinking. “I suppose I’ll give you information. However, I expect payment!” he said. “In fingernails, specifically!”
“Ouma…” Mari just said somewhat sternly.
Kokichi rolled his eyes. “Alright, sheesh!” he groaned. “You’re no fun! I was playing chess, and I totally won!” he lied. Well, it was technically true. He just had to sacrifice himself as a piece, that’s all.
Mari’s expression softened. “Thank you for telling us,” she smiled, reaching over and ruffling his hair.
He squawked, swatting her hands away with a playful pout. “Hey, hey, hey! Hands off of the merchandise!” He just pouted more when she laughed. He then shifted his attention to the airplanes in the distance. “Nishishi~ Wanna see something cool?!”
“Fppmfpmmmfmp?” Kenny asked, looking up at him.
“As a leader, I have experience! I taught myself everything and anything,” he smirked. “Now… Wanna see me fly a plane?!” he exclaimed, stars in his eyes.
Mari’s eyes widened. “Is that safe for someone your size?”
Kokichi sniffled, his eyes watering. “Are- are you making fu- fun of me for… For being small?" In just a few seconds, he burst into tears. “WAAAAAAAAHHHAHAH! Mari’s so mean!"
The girl in question gasped, looking panicked. “No, no, no, Ouma! It’s okay! I didn’t mean to tease you! I’m so sorry!” she reassured, hovering her hands over him as if she wanted to hold him close. Before she could, he quietly turned off the tears.
“Juuuust kidding!” he snickered, smiling at her shocked expression. “Besides, that was a lie! I don’t fly planes… I actually fly helicopters!”
(He made a mental note to himself to explore the airport later. He had to find some sort of access to the airplanes- the entrances were too high off the ground, so he had to explore further. If these two people were here, there were bound to be more, and it was starting to sound more and more like a situation he didn’t like. He just had to keep tabs on how many people there were and who they were. He can explore later after he knows who he is dealing with.)
Mari still looked put off by the extreme reaction. Despite that, she gave him an unsure grin. “If only there were helicopters here, huh?”
“Yuuuuppp… I wish I could truly utilize my amazing skills,” he sighed in false disappointment. “Anyhow, I’m done here! Got places to be, kingdoms to take over, minions to recruit… You know how it is!” Kokichi beamed.
“Of course,” Mari smiled. “If you figure out anything about our situation, please tell us… I’ll see you later, alright, Ouma?” Despite her smile, there was concern and fear in her expression. She’s the type to be the rock to hold onto in any situation, Kokichi thought, looking over her. Makes sense. She has a brother, and she seemed to be playing with Kenny before I got here. At least I know what makes her tick.
“Mffmpf ffmppffmf mpfmffpppmpm mmmpppffm mfpppffmp fppppfppmmppppp, pmfmppfmp ppmmpp pmppppppffpp,” Kenny joked, his laughs muffled.
Mari gasped. “Kenny!”
“Bye bye, Mari! Bye, Kenny! Don’t miss me too much!” he winked, waving before twirling on the tip of his toes and heading for the exits. Once Kokichi was outside of the airport, he immediately spotted the building right next to it. Rocketpunch Market, huh? His goal, as of right now, is to see if there are more people on this island, so that would be his next stop.
Determining his new destination, he rocketed toward the market with confidence. Aren’t I such a comedic genius? Kokichi smirked as he entered the market, his strides in itself presenting him as a total show-off.
Despite the unexpected items he first saw (was that a fucking surfboard? Well, at least they appeared to be well supplied with countless foods… As far as they knew), the first thing in his focus were two robots. They looked less humanoid like Kiibo was and more artificial with a round head structure. The shorter one had a more feminine appearance and looked like some sort of edgy teenager, while the taller one looked more masculine with a black fur coat and a pilot hat. Instead of jumping to their attention, their conversation made him pause and listen.
“At this rate, we’re never gonna find anything in this dumpster!” the shorter robot yelled in frustration, kicking a shelf with its black boot. Fortunately for them, none of the items toppled over. Unfortunately for him, he would've loved to see some groceries fall on their heads.
“Uzi, calm down! I know you’re angry-” the taller began, placing a hand on the supposed Uzi’s shoulder before its hand was slapped off. The robot looked down at Uzi with wide, hallowed yellow eyes.
“Shit- sorry, N…” Uzi frowned. “It’s just- I don’t understand what’s going on! We’re clearly not on Copper 9 anymore, and then we wake up on some… some beach with humans?! Those things are only on Earth, N! If this is Earth, then how did we get here?!!" she stressed, pulling at her beanie. “Fuck! I know I made some evil, sick monologue about humans not knowing what’s going to hit them, but we aren’t ready yet!” Kokichi raised an eyebrow. Ah, is this a robot uprising? “Plus, you’re clearly affected by being in this place! You can’t access your wings, or your weapons, or… anything!”
“Well, I wouldn’t say anything, ” N laughed, seeming to be the more lighthearted out of the two. “I still got my tail, see?” he said, flicking it back and forth for demonstration. Kokichi narrowed his eyes, taking suspicion of the syringe and the liquid in it.
Uzi rolled her eyes before crossing her arms.”Doesn’t being stripped of your weapons worry you in the slightest?! We can’t defend ourselves!”
“We’ll be fine, Uzi,” N smiled. “I can put myself back together, and I can heal you. Besides, do you think I’d let anything get to you?” he laughed, ruffling her hair.
Despite being a robot, Uzi blushed with embarrassment. “Ugh, don’t touch me,” she huffed, swatting his hands away. “Besides, it’s not me I’m worried about! It’s… I’m worried about you, you idiot.”
N blinked, looking confused. “About me? Awwwww, Uzi… That’s sweet, but I don’t understand what for!”
“I know you can feel it, dumbass,” she hissed. “If I can, you can. This island’s temperatures- it’s nothing we’re adapted to. N, you can overheat faster in this damn place!”
N’s eyes flickered to the side and then back to her. That seemed to have gotten to him, but he didn’t let his smile go. “Maybe, but we’ll worry about me later, ‘kay? What I'm worried about is how you're not considering you'll overheat, too! I’m sure we can find some oil in-” he couldn’t finish his sentence, giving a muffled yelp as Uzi’s hand slapped over his mouth. That was when the two robots focused their glowing eyes on him. Kokichi smiled. It’s showtime.
“Don’t step any closer, human,” Uzi spat.
“Awwww, why not? I wouldn’t hurt a fly! There’s no need to shake in your pretty little emo boots,” he giggled, giving a mischievous grin.
Uzi snarled, her eyes glowing and sharp. Ah, finally. Someone is looking at him with annoyance! About time. Though before she could retort, N took her hand off of his mouth. “I mean, he’s right, Uzi. He looks too small to hurt a fly,” he said.
Kokichi huffed, stomping his foot on the ground like a child. “This is the second time today someone judged me on my height!” he whined. “Everyone’s so mean to me!”
“Jeez, I sure wonder why,” Uzi grumbled, rolling her eyes.
“Uzi, be nice,” N scolded like an older brother.
“I’m not gonna be nice to a human!” she glared, gesturing towards him. Kokichi put in the effort to look innocent, his eyes big and sparkling as he held his hands in front of him.
As expected by Kokichi, N seemed to take the bait. His eyes softened. “Awwww, but he’s just a little guy!” he beamed. Oh, okay, fuck you. Though, he did have a plan in mind. It seems these two need to look for oil, and he does need help examining the airplane. He’s not a mechanic, as great as he is. He has to leave a good impression on one of them and figure out if any of these dolts know how to take care of their cousins.
“He’s not a dog, N!” Uzi groaned, knowing how N has a soft spot for dogs.
“Well… It’s not like he can hurt us,” N smiled. “Besides, if there’s anything humans know, it’s Earth.”
She narrowed her purple eyes. “Are you saying we get information from him?"
“Well, you guys do look to be all tangled up in a sticky situation!” Kokichi exclaimed. “Say, I’ll be fair. I am a merciful leader, after all. I’ll give you information for a favor,” he smirked.
“Oh hell no,” Uzi scowled, eyeing him with suspicion. “How can we know we can trust you, brat?”
“What choice do you have?” he giggled, tilting his head as his smile thinned and spread wide across his face. Creepy. “I’m certain you already know I’m not a threat~ After all, you must have seen me passed out on the beach! If I had to do anything with our current situation, that wouldn’t make any sense! Why would I involve myself if I planned to do something to you all? Besides, it seems I’m the one here with human knowledge.”
“He does make a point,” N shrugged. “Plus, he did say he’s some sort of leader! Big-shot guys like that have tons of insider info. Outsider info, too,” he added. “Either we get some sort of sense of understanding or none at all! And I know how you hate being clueless, Uzi…”
Uzi paused, considering her friend’s words before giving a drawn-out groan. “Fine! Whatever! What do you want from us?” she glared.
“Ah ah ah! Tell me what information you need first,” Kokichi smirked. “Jeez, no need to be so rude, Uzi!”
She tensed, scowling. “How do you-”
“I have ears, unlike you,” he yawned. “You’re Uzi, and he’s N.”
“Aw, really? I would’ve loved to give an introduction,” N sighed in disappointment.
“At least you can receive one! From a leader like me, nonetheless!” Kokichi exclaimed, stars in his eyes. “I’m Kokichi Ouma! That’s Ouma to you robots!”
N stood up straight, giving a salute with a grin on his face. Uzi huffed, nudging his shoulder harshly. “Knock it off, idiot.”
N looked sheepish before turning to Kokichi. “Well, Ouma! It sure is nice of you to give us information,” he smiled. “First of all, do you know where we are right now? Cause last time I remembered, I was having a sleepover!”
“Not a sleepover!” Uzi helpfully supplied.
“It’s easy to see, even without investigation, that we’re stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean! Basically, the middle of nowhere!” Kokichi said cheerfully, ignoring Uzi. “Specifically, well, I’m still figuring that one out.”
“Great, so you’re useless,” Uzi huffed, rolling her eyes.
“Sheesh, robogirl! Calm your screws,” he retorted, putting his hand on his chest to look as if he were offended. “We just started playing 20 Questions! That was just one, ya know! You’re so quick to judge my character…” he sniffled. “That’s… So, so mean…”
“Uzi, I know he may be a human, but you’ve gotta act nice if we want answers!” N exclaimed, putting his hands on his hips. Well, look who seems to be the resident softie. “Look at the poor guy! He’s on the verge of tears!” Kokichi gave yet another dramatic sniff to add to the effect.
Uzi looked at N and then at Kokichi. She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and muttering to herself. She seems willing to cooperate. Good.
N smiled at her, giving her a pat on the shoulder. “Thanks, Uzi,” he said. “Now, this is probabblyyyy a reach of a question… But do you know how to get back to our planet? Erm, Copper 9?” he asked. “With how sunny this place is, there’s no way we’re on our planet.”
“Nope,” Kokichi said, popping the ‘P’ as he stared at his fingernails. “However, there is one way…” he trailed off, purposely trying to catch their attention. “Such a shame no one seems to be skilled with planes… Or is annyyy sort of mechanic…”
N’s already lit eyes seemed to glow more. “Oh! All you need is a mechanic? Well, Uzi sure is great at building!” he exclaimed. “She’s a hacking genius too!” At the praise, Uzi blushed with embarrassment and grumbled.
“Oh, really?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Well, this is where my favor comes into play! I won’t answer any questions you have unless you help me with this!”
“Great, we're getting scammed,” Uzi said sarcastically.
“That sounds like a great deal!” N hurried to cover up. He wanted answers as much as Uzi did.
"Here's how this goes,” Kokichi hummed. “There's an airport just next to this building. You-" he pointed to Uzi, “Will examine the planes and see if they're suitable for takeoff. Chances are you will find oil there,” he said smoothly with a smirk.
The duo looked taken aback by his words. They looked at each other, communicating with artificial eyes. Using oil against these two seems effective. Especially against Uzi with how protective she is, Kokichi noted with the worried, irritated look she sent to N. He wouldn't be surprised if Uzi were to go to desperate measures for her fellow robot.
After their little moment, Uzi faced Kokichi and crossed her arms. “What's stopping us from hijacking the plane and leaving ourselves?” she raised an eyebrow.
“Do you think you'll be able to make it far? You're funnier than I take you credit for!" he giggled, the noise a grating sound against Uzi’s hearing receptors. He didn't bother holding back a laugh as he watched Uzi’s eye twitch. “You don't know the geography of this planet! As much as you want to deny it, you need human help, dear Uzi!”
Uzi scowled, looking beyond done with dealing with him. However, it seems she realized she had to cooperate if she wanted to help their situation. “...Alright. Fine,” she glared. “I'll look at those damned planes once I find the right tools.”
“Awwww, Uzi! Look at you, stepping up to help!” N cooed. Kokichi couldn't tell if he was oblivious, trying to lighten the atmosphere, or just stupid. “They grow up so fast…”
“Shut it, N!” she huffed, balling her fists at her sides. “This is for yo- our sake. So, just shut up.”
“Pleasure doing business with you!” he cheered. “You won’t regret it! The last guy I made a deal with had so much of a blast his head exploded!” he said in wonder.
N’s eyes widened. “That can happen?!”
"Don't put that into his thoughts!” Uzi glared at him, clearly fed up. “Just leave. You got what you wanted, we got what we wanted, so go."
“You're trying to get rid of me so soon already?” Kokichi pouted. “That's not how you say goodbye! Did your parents ever teach you any manners?!”
As if the atmosphere couldn't grow hostile enough, Uzi’s glare was intense. Even N’s smile faltered as he looked uncomfortable. “Well, thank you for all the information, Mr. Ouma, but I think you should go now,” N said politely, though clearly with a tone in his voice that didn't accept ‘No’ for an answer. “We'll get started on those planes in a jiffy.”
So parents are a sore subject, Kokichi thought. Odd, considering he did not expect robots to have parents. He’d love to tease them more, but he couldn’t risk them not holding up the bargain. His very existence already pisses Uzi off extremely. He sent the two a smirk. “Your leader shall return later and see if your work is up to par!” he declared with a dramatic flair.
He didn’t stick around long enough to examine their reactions, though he could hear Uzi yell, “NOT OUR LEADER!” on his way out.
So far, so good. He was still unsure of his whereabouts and the current situation, but he already had someone with some sort of experience looking at the planes for him. He felt satisfied at that- at least he wasn’t completely powerless.
Kokichi didn’t dismiss how odd the situation seemed, however. He didn’t miss the way Mari looked so frail and pale. It was as if she hadn’t seen the light of day in ages in a way that just wasn’t natural. She could probably be knocked over by a simple gust of wind, as well. Not only that, but those robots seemed completely out of this world. Literally. The “Copper 9” they mentioned would be an odd name for a planet, and it hasn’t been discovered in their solar system. It was difficult to come up with possibilities, but the most logical one he could explore right now was that their planet was far, yet more advanced than their society. That must be why they can travel beyond their solar system and into theirs.
If not? Well, he wanted to stay in logical territory. He didn’t want to think about the other possibilities because an out-of-the-world robotic duo from another planet was already cutting it. If more was possible, anything was possible. After all, he was dead, and the next second, he wasn’t.
How he wasn’t freaking out, he didn’t know. Nonetheless, he gave himself a metaphorical pat on the back for keeping his composure- Angie’s god knows he needs it, especially in an unknown situation.
Right now, Kokichi aimed to gather as much information as he could and figure out how these people worked. He needed to know how to get under their skin and what their motivations were. After all, being aware of others’ strengths and weaknesses was useful.
With that in mind, he must continue to explore.
