Souvenirs / 土产

Summary:

A random snippet (with images).

Notes:

Something I came up with while I was vacationing in Taiwan. I finally worked up the courage to post it here. Not an actual fic, more of a random idea I had. It's probably more suited for Tumblr or Twitter, but I have neither. Not cross posted on ffn. Feel free to create any recursive works (if the inspiration strikes).

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Hey Guo Guo, look! These keychains are so cute!”

“You’re right Mu Mu! They’ve got all the different names! Let’s see if we can find your name in there! Rou Rou come take a look!” Chen Guo suggested excitedly.

“Here, there’s another design with different surnames(1) instead! I found Chen!” Tang Rou smiled happily.

“Shall we get them for the guys at Happy?” Mu Cheng suggested.

“Sure! Come look, there’s a bai jia xing(2) here.”

“I’ve got Wei, Bao, Qiao…I think that’s all?”

“Don’t forget your own surnames.” Tang Rou reminded.

“Oh, right! Thanks Rou Rou!”

“Here, I found Su!” Chen Guo paused. “Oh, should I get Ye too?”

The other two girls paused as well, turning to look at the aforementioned keychain.

“Why not? We’re getting one for Wei Chen as well.” Mu Cheng replied.

“Once a part of Happy, always a part of Happy.” Tang Rou concurred. “Even if he has retired and we barely see him.”

“We can always crash his office in City B!” Mu Cheng helpfully suggested.

A smile broke out on Chen Guo’s lips. “Yea, we can do that. Since he’s too busy to visit, we shall go find him instead!”

“We should ask Bao Zi to tag along, I’m sure he misses his boss.” Tang Rou smiled cheekily.

Chen Guo and Mu Cheng sported identical impish grins, as they purchased their souvenirs and wandered along the streets of Jiufen, basking in the chilly breeze.

Notes:

1: surname, aka family name or last name.
2: 百家姓 (bai jia xing), directly translates to Hundred Family Surnames, which is basically a compilation of common Chinese surnames in China. It was compiled circa 960 - 112.
