Late Night Gatherings

Summary:

4 couples decide to meet up for a quadruple date.
What could go wrong?

OR: Drinks get mixed up and Miyano accidentally gets drunk.

!No smut, only fluff!
(Takes place a little after Miyano’s college entrance exams)

Notes:

I haven’t seen many fanfics where Miyano gets drunk (accidentally) and Sasaki dotes on him.
So, here we go!

Also, Fujimi Yuki and Yokota Eimi are rarely mentioned in the anime, so I have no idea how Kuresawa and Osagawara address them. The light novel and manga aren’t really that clear about it, either. Or perhaps I just missed it.
(Spoilers for manga and light novel!)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Kanpai!”

“Congratulations on passing, Myaa-chan.” Sasaki smiled and took a sip of his drink.

“Thank you, Sasaki-senp… Shuumei-san.” Ever since Sasaki had graduated high school, Miyano had tried to call him by his first name. However, slip-ups from time to time were unavoidable.

Now that Miyano, Kuresawa, Kagi, and Fujimi, Kuresawa’s girlfriend, were finished with their exams and had a college, the group had decided to hold a quadruple date at a steakhouse to celebrate. It was a rare occasion that all of them were free, and even more rare that Kuresawa’s girlfriend was feeling well enough to participate.

Sasaki was absolutely thrilled to see his boyfriend after almost a whole month, his eyes sparkling like a lost puppy reuniting with its owner. Hirano, on the other hand, was getting constantly teased by Kagi, the younger mentioning how the height difference between the two had grown. Being the fujoshi Eimi and Fujimi were, they were happily chatting away about the classic BL scenes displayed right in front of them.

“So, Kuresawa,” Ogasawara started, seeing as no one else was available for conversation. “Are you going to the same college as your girlfriend?”

Kuresawa glanced at his girlfriend chatting happily with Ogasawara’s girlfriend, then turned his attention back at Ogasawara himself and shook his head. “Yuki-chan will continue to attend special courses online. You don’t know much about her, but she has a respiratory illness and is often hospitalized, so she can’t attend college normally.”

Ogasawara was taken aback slightly. “A-Ah, I see. I’m sorry for asking such a personal matter.” He scratched the back of his head, giving an awkward laugh.

“It’s alright, Osagawara-senpai,” Kuresawa assured, shifting his gaze back to his girlfriend. A small smile grew on his lips as he was unable to take his eyes off the radiant demeanor Fujimi was giving off. “I’m glad she’s getting along with Yokota-san. Yuki-chan has been wanting to meet her for a while now.”

The college student sighed, grabbing another piece of meat to his plate. “I’m sure Eimi is also happy to have someone else to talk about BL to.”

“Tasuku-kun,” Fujimi called out to her boyfriend, who was sitting next to her. “Is it true that Miyano is going to the same college as Sasaki-san?” She asked quietly as if the couple immersed in their own world could hear her. Eimi was sitting on Fujimi’s other side, staring intently at Kuresawa for the answer.

Though Kuresawa knew the answer, he figured that the girls would much rather hear it from the fudanshi himself. “Miyano,” he called out before his girlfriend could stop him, “you’re going to the same college as Sasaki-senpai, aren’t you?”

Miyano tilted his head, confused as to why Kuresawa would ask. “Haven’t I already told you?”

Kuresawa sighed, gesturing to the two excited girls. While Miyano was still confused, Sasaki understood immediately what they were looking for and wrapped his arms around Miyano. “Well, Myaa-chan just couldn’t bear to be apart from me any longer.” Shifting his gaze to the boy in his arms, he flashed a bright smile. “Right? Myaa-chan?”

“I… I…” Miyano stuttered, his face flushed from the public display of affection.

The two girls giggled at his reaction and started whispering amongst themselves once again. “No fair…” Kagiura pouted, leaning closer to Hirano. “Hirano-san should learn from Sasaki-san.”

A tint of red could be seen on the shorter senior’s cheeks as he turned away from Kagiura. “What are you talking about, Kagi-kun? We aren’t in a relationship like they are…”

“But you agreed to this quadruple date!” Kagiura argued back, wrapping his arms around Hirano’s waist, head resting on his shoulder looking at his senior with the same puppy-dog eyes.

“But Sasaki said this was just a friendly get-together!” The slightly flustered college student shifted his attention to Sasaki, who was smiling at Miyano having a ‘fudanshi moment’.

A friendly gathering turning into a date.
What a classic BL setup.
Thank you, Sasaki-senpai!

The two fujoshi seemed to be having the same thought process.

“Sasaki…!”

The rest of the night continued on with friendly quarreling between Hirano and Sasaki as well as manga discussions between the two fujoshi and fudanshi. However, as the night continued on, Miyano started feeling a bit off.

“I told you, that was three years ago!” Ogasawara blurted out after his girlfriend had told the others about another one of his bad habits.

Sasaki was just about to comment when he felt Miyano slump against him. “Myaa-chan?” Upon closer inspection, Sasaki noticed that his boyfriend’s face was flushed, and his eyes were out of focus.

“Hm? Is Miyano feeling sick?” Hirano asked concerningly. Miyano seemed alright, even more energetic than usual, earlier. But now, he seemed completely out of it.

“He doesn’t seem to have a fever,” Sasaki concluded after placing his hand on the younger’s forehead. “Myaa-chan~” He called out, shaking him softly. “Tell me what’s wrong Myaa-chan.”

Then Miyano did something unexpected. Blinking twice and looking up at his boyfriend with glassed-over eyes, the third year grasped onto Sasaki’s arm to pull his face down to the shorter boy’s level and kissed him on the lips. After the small peck, Miyano continued to cling to the older’s arm, head resting on his shoulder and nuzzling closer to him.

While Eimi and Fujimi were fangirling, Sasaki was taken by surprise by the sudden display of affection. Usually, it was he who asked to hold Miyano’s hand and hug him in public. Not the other way around.

Ogasawara glanced at Miyano clinging to Sasaki, whose free hand was covering his mouth to suppress his smile and blush, then at Miyano’s and his almost-empty drinks. That’s when the dots connected. “I think our dinks got mixed up…”

The first to react was Yokota Eimi, Ogasawa’s girlfriend. “Jirou! How could you be so careless! Miyano probably hasn’t even had any alcohol until today.” While the third years had already come of age, they still figured it would be best not to order any alcoholic drinks, leaving that to the college students.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! They just looked so similar,” Osagawara apologized while his girlfriend had already gotten up and started lecturing him, smacking him with the menu.

Sasaki already had his arms around his boyfriend, holding him possessively. Miyano was still conscious, though looking as if his mind was completely blank. The flush on his cheeks lessened slightly, but it was still evident that he was a little tipsy. Sasaki found the sight endearing and dipped his head down to plant a kiss atop Miyano’s head. ‘I don’t want anyone else to see you like this…’

As if being able to read his thoughts, Kuresawa spoke up. “You should take Miyano home, Sasaki-senpai. We will be leaving in a while anyway.”

“Myaa-chan~” Sasaki called to get his boyfriend’s attention. “Let’s go home.”

To Sasaki’s surprise, Miyano shook his head, nuzzling his face against the older’s chest. “Wanna stay here with Shuumei-san…”

As everyone else was shocked by how affectionate Miyano could be, Sasaki chuckled and planted a kiss on the younger’s cheek. “We can cuddle when we get back home,” he whispered into Miyano’s ear, which made him let go willingly.

Sasaki thanked everyone for the night and excused them, gently dragging Miyano by his hand. Luckily, the steakhouse wasn’t too far away from Sasaki’s house, and he decided that having his boyfriend stay over was the better option. Miyano seemed like he could black out at any moment, and the college student didn’t particularly enjoy the idea of random strangers looking at his Myaa-chan’s flushed face and cute expression.

Once they got closer to Sasaki’s house, he stopped walking abruptly, causing the shorter boy to bump into him. “Can I carry you, Myaa-chan?” Though Sasaki was sure Miyano could walk the rest of the way, he couldn’t resist the thought of having his cute boyfriend in his arms anymore.

Just as Miyano was about to respond, the taller hoisted his boyfriend up in a princess carry. “Shuumei..!” Miyano gasped as his feet left the ground and clung to Sasaki tightly to avoid falling.

“Shh… Just let me hold you like this. Please?” Sasaki held the smaller boy closer to him and started walking the rest of the way. Miyano seemed to relax slightly in his embrace, his blush growing evident.

Somewhere along the way, the soft lull of Sasaki’s footsteps and the feeling of safety from being in his arms had soothed Miyano to sleep. Knowing that his boyfriend had fallen asleep, Sasaki smiled and kissed the sleeping boy on the forehead before entering the bakery that had already closed earlier.

“Sleep well, my sweet Myaa-chan.”
