CHAPTER SONG - Don't delete the Kisses by Wolf Alice
"When I see you, the whole world reduces
To just that room
And then I remember and I'm shy
That gossip's eye will look too soon
And then I'm trapped, overthinking
And yeah, probably self-doubt
You tell me to get over it
And to take you out"
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
Olivia Hayes rushed down the hallway of Bannerman Independent School , her heart still beating so hard and fast, she thought, she may collapse. She took a quick turn into a nearby restroom and took the first free stall near the window.
“Shit, what just happened?” Her throat began to close again, making it nearly impossible for her to swallow. Another panic attack? Please, no , she begged as she closed her eyes and concentrated on her breathing. Calm down Livy, calm down , she spoke to herself and it worked, as her body slowly began to feel like her own again.
“I just said sorry. I never say sorry. I’ve missed you.”
“When you walk into the room, my stomach does somersaults.”
Glimpse of the conversation she just had, ran through her mind. She saw Amber before her inner eye, saw her face glitch for a second, as she had realized that both of them were alone in the theater class room. Everybody had left already and the silence was heavy.
“What?” Amber asked as she grabbed her bag, ready to leave too, but Olivia stood right at the end of the little stair that led down from the stage, preventing her from doing so.
“You know, even before everything, I still hated you at least 50% of the time.” She tried to make her voice sound firm and confident, but Olivia realized it was shaking a little. And Amber noticed too. She was the confident one between the two of them, and a little grin flicked over her full lips.
“That’s how friendships work.” She said calmly. “They’re not supposed to be simple.”
“I think they are.” Olivia interrupted her, slowly taking the steps up, joining her former best friend. “I think we’ve been doing this wrong.”
Amber sighed, putting her bag back, before crossing her arms in front of her chest. “Do you want me to apologize?” Her dark eyes searched for Olivia’s blue ones.
“Yes. But… not for telling everyone the truth.” The blonde turned away, not being able to hold Amber’s gaze for another second. She needed to concentrate to find the right words and Amber’s eyes made her mind dizzy. But she had to finally express her thoughts. “Say sorry for making me do things I never wanted to do, and making me be someone I never wanted to be.”
Amber responded quickly. “I’m sorry. I never wanted to change you.” A little too quick.
“No. Just my hair and my clothes and my Make-up and my jewelry and my background.” Olivia turned back to her, laughing from anger.
“I was protecting you.” Amber’s voice was still calm, as she took a step closer, reaching out for Olivia, but the blonde backed up, shaking her head slightly. So Amber continued. “Bannerman is a place that’ll give you a breakdown before you’re out of a training bra.” Silence. “Do you want to come over?”
“No! This isn’t us making up.” Olivia laughed again, anger and some other feeling building up in her chest. This wasn’t the way she wanted it to go, but… what did she even want?
“I just said sorry. I never say sorry.” The brunette said and it was true. Olivia never heard Amber Stevens apologize. Ever. But still. It was Amber again that broke the silence between them and this time her voice was a little shaky too. “I’ve missed you.”
Olivia heard those honest words and her heart skipped a beat, making her feel something she couldn’t put a finger on. It overwhelmed her so badly.
“We’re too intense. Don’t you ever feel that?” She had turned around again, her eyes closed, as she rested her hands on the table with the props in front of her. “It’s like… I hate you… but I hate when you’re not around.” She breathed deep in and out, trying to calm her body, but was unsuccessful.
“I get jealous when someone else is talking to you.” Amber confessed behind her, making Olivia turn around. Did Amber just blush a little? A day full of wonders. But it gave Olivia the confidence she needed.
“Sometimes I stare at my phone for hours just waiting for you to text me.” She said and Amber smiled, which only made her more beautiful, if that was even possible.
“When you walk into the room, my stomach does somersaults.” She spoke softly and her eyes searched for Olivias and then wandered over to her lips and Olivia did the same, her focus switching between the full lips that suddenly were so close and those deep brown eyes, she seemed to be losing herself in them.
The kiss was soft and gentle and nothing like Donte kissed her and butterflies burst through her pores and a sense of overwhelming made her knees shaking and it was so much. So many feelings all of the sudden, Olivia stumbled backwards, her cheeks bright red, while Amber watched her closely, panting slightly. Could she hear her heart race as well?
No, no, no…. She stumbled back, reached the stairs leading down from the stage, before turning back to Amber.
“I’m not ready yet.” Olivia said, expecting Amber to be angry, to throw some wit at her, but instead, she looked calmly, as she said:
“I am.”
***
Three weeks before:
“Close your eyes. This looks so good on you.” Amber leaned in, as she applied some eyeshadow on Olivia.
“Really? Do you think?” Olivia wasn’t so sure about it, but she trusted Amber. After all, she was the Queen Bee of Bannerman Independent School and not only because of her rich parents or her stunning looks, but because she knew how the system worked. “I just don’t wear eyeshadow, so…”
“Trust me.” Amber smiled, reaching for the lipgloss that lay right between them on her king size bed with the soft pink sheets. They already spent the whole morning getting ready for the party, first with an extended shopping tour and now, giving themselves a last touch up.
“So, what’s happening with you and Donte?”
“Honestly, things have been really… weird lately. I don’t know, he’s just… off.” Olivia said honestly, as Amber's fingers traced her lips, tapping in the lipgloss and mixing it with the previous applied lipstick in a darker nuance.
”Well, he’s an idiot. You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” Amber said and Olivia slightly shivered under her touch. Something grew in her, but she was not ready to let that thought actually manifestate. Not yet.
“You’re just saying that to make me feel better.”
“That doesn’t sound like me.” Amber laughed.
And Olivia had to admit, it really wasn't typical for Amber to compliment other people.
Well, except her…sometimes.
But she could be a real bitch to her too and sometimes that gave Olivia nightmares.

CHAPTER SONG - Explode by Uh Huh Her
"I wanna explode
Watch me, I'm a lucky girl
See I, I like you
So won't you pay
If you wanna go down
I love to watch you, honey
You need me so let's see
What do you care, if you want to
You should pay if you wanna go
Don't walk away
Don't walk away love "

“I’ll be here.” Amber answered to Rex, as he hung up the phone. She was paralyzed. Just seconds before she was hanging out by the pool with her best friend, drinking a virgin cocktail and now, Rex just told her about…
“Is everything okay?” Olivia’s eyes were wide open, as she put the drink aside, facing her friend. “What’s wrong?”
“Mika is dead.” Amber whispered, seeing all color fade from Olivia's face, as she understood the meaning behind her words.
“H-How?” The blonde stuttered. ”That can’t be, we just saw her and…”
“Apparently… she fell into the water reservoir and drowned.” Amber tried so hard to hold back her tears, because she knew, if she would start now, she couldn’t stop. And Olivia looked at her, she saw her friend being so lost. She would start to cry with her, so she had so stay strong for both of them!
“I told Rex I would be here, but I can’t.” Her mind went blank for a second, Olivia grabbing her by the shoulders, so she would look straight into her face.
“You can do this. You’re the strongest person I know.” Olivia said and Amber cringed. Why did those words kind of hurt her, instead of comforting her? “Look, I can’t imagine what Rex must be feeling right now, but if I was going through something terrible, I want you by my side.” Olivia hugged her and she embraced her back. The desire to cry rose again, but Amber couldn’t let that happen.
“Go.”
“I’ll stay. Olivia said, taking a step back, but Amber only shook her head.
“No, because if I look at you, I’ll cry.”
And Olivia left and Amber stood there, watching after her friend and then she lost, tears rolling all over her face, till Rex arrived an hour later.
He looked like he was dead inside, not being able to say a single word to her and she didn’t find any words to comfort him either. So they just sat by the pool, closely in each other's arms, sobbing the pain away till no tears were left anymore.
***
As Amber arrived at home the next day, she was feeling extremely down. The whole situation had sucked all of the energy out of her body, not to mention she didn’t get a single second of sleep.
Right now there was only one person she wanted to see, or at least hear. She dialed Olivia's number, as she sat down on her bed. Normally Olivia would pick up right away, but nothing happened. Amber waited and waited, till she fell back and started to cry again. Why did from all people in this world, Olivia, be the one letting her down?
Later on, right in front of the Bannerman, Olivia joined her. Amber had to keep herself very straight faced to not explode right into the face of her friend. As she had gotten ready for the fencing event (and it was no option to not go, because everyone would do so), her anger against Olivia only had grown.
“Hey. Sorry I missed your phone call. I was running late, as usual.” Olivia smiled at her, looking around at the bunch of people that surrounded them. As Amber didn’t answer, Olivia looked back at her. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” And with that Amber turned around and walked inside, Olivia following her closely after a second.
As they in the school gym and sat down, Olivia saw that Donte was nearby and it made her cringe.
“Can we not sit right next to Donte? It’s awkward.”
Amber looked at her friend, then to the Olivia's ex boyfriend and her mean side popped up. “Donte, over here.” She smiled at him, as she waved. Maybe it was childish, but she would let Olivia pay for letting her down. Again.
The missed call was the last thing which broke the camel’s back. Hearing that Olivia went on a date with Ronnie started it all. Why didn’t she tell her? She would’ve warned her and that she and Donte broke up, she had to hear that from Jen! From Jen, not from her best friend herself. She felt so distant from Olivia as never before and it broke her heart.
“Have I done something?” Olivia asked and ripped her out of her thoughts.
“I don’t know. Have you?” Amber didn’t even look at her friend at this point.
“What's wrong with you?” The blonde seemed to get a little pissed now too, but Amber would not let her have it.
“You mean, apart from my boyfriend’s sister dying?” Amber said dryly, before turning to Olivia. “I needed you this morning and you weren’t there.”
Silence.
“No Amber. I’m not going to sit around here whilst you make this all about you.” Olivia grabbed her stuff, making some people around them look at her in surprise, as she stormed out of the school gym. Amber sighed. No, she had to talk to her. Now.
„Olivia, don‘t walk away from me.“ Amber nearly yelled, and she never yelled. That was not the kind of person Amber Stevens was. So of course people stopped, wondering what was going on, and so did Olivia, as she was about to rush out of campus.
„What do you want, Amber?“ Olivia sighed, as she turned around. Olivia just gave her the biggest bullshit by sitting next to her ex Donte, although she had asked her not to do so. She could be so mean, Olivia hated that about her.
„I want you.“ Amber said. „I want you to not disappear every time I need you the most.“
„It was one missed phone call.“ Olivia rolled her eyes, which made Amber only more pissed off. Olivia could tell, her friend was nearly exploding, not that anyone else would know Amber as well as she did to read the little signs.
„It‘s not about that. It‘s just… Mika‘s dead and Rex is in bits and that‘s not our thing.“ Anger quickly became despair. „I just wanted to be with someone that might understand.“ Then despair became anger again. „You didn‘t call. You didn‘t even pick up the phone.“ Amber was thrown back and forth between her emotions and it hurt Olivia to see her like that. More people had stopped by now, witnessing what happened between the best friends.
„I‘m sorry. I just thought, after we talked…“ Olivia really felt regret, she didn‘t know her actions had such a deep impact on Amber.
„ You talked. Amber, you‘re so strong .“ Amber mocked her words. „It‘s what everyone says. You‘re supposed to know me better.“ Amber took a step closer. The crowd had become even bigger by now, everyone with their phones out. „You‘re supposed to know me. After everything I‘ve done for you.“
„What?“ Olivia scoffed. No way Amber would play that card now. „I never asked you for anything.“ The blonde was the one getting angry now, but it scared her to see how calm Amber suddenly had become. As if she had backed up behind her inner defense wall and that meant she was ready to destroy her. Destroy her in front of Bannerman once and for all.
„Really? You never asked for my help when you came in here looking like an off-brand Cinderella? Lying to everyone about your tiny apartment. With your single mum. No money, no dad, no class.“ Amber smirked, although her eyes had become teary, but only Olivia could see that. „You‘re nothing without me. You‘ve never worn anything I haven‘t given you and you‘ve never been anywhere I haven‘t taken you.“ Amber took a step back, looking at Olivia from head to toes, ready for her final attack. „Even now… those are my shoes.“
Next thing was Olivia throwing her shoes at Amber‘s feets, turning around and running away, tears all over her pretty face, while the whole Bannerman student body saw her barefoot fleeing the scene. Nobody would forget about this incident.
***
Olivia woke up from a nightmare, her skin damp from sweat, her mind dizzy and her emotions lost in chaos. She had slept long, but didn’t feel rested at all. She took a sip of water from her night stand, trying to collect herself.
She remembered Amber's words and they still hurt her, although they were the truth, but maybe it was exactly that, that hurt the most. Olivia sighed, brushing her blonde messy hair behind her ear. Well, yesterday she had confronted Amber at the theater, to sort things out. They did... kind of and on top of that…
She blushed at the memory of their kiss.
Olivias fell back on bed, covering her blushing face with both hands. How the hell could she meet Amber again? How to step in front of her pretty face ever again? She sighed. Everything was so complicated! She loved Amber, that was sure. Being around her made her heart race and tummy bubble from butterflies. But also Amber had a boyfriend, so what did she mean by that she was ready?
Suddenly her phone buzzed, startling nearly to death.
Olivia laid the phone back on her night stand, fingers sweaty. Why was she suddenly so nervous? Amber had picked her up many times before.
She gulped, as she sat up, but it was the first time since their kiss. Should she say something? Or ignore the topic completely?
„Ugh!“ She sighed, as she stood up, getting ready for school. This whole situation stressed her out. She would see if Amber said anything and then decide what to do next. Yes, that was a good plan.
Procrastination at its finest.
But first of all, she needed a shower to awaken her spirits again. After all, not only Amber was a topic she was struggling with right now.
DGM was still blamed for murder and she and the girls had to find out who blackmailed them.
Notes:
What should their ship name be?
Amblivia? Oliber? Hayevens? Stevayes?
Stayes?!Ahhhh, I can’t come up with something good! LOL

CHAPTER SONG - Forever's Gone by DRAMA
"You see what you want to see

As Olivia left her home half an hour later, Amber’s car was already waiting outside, so she rushed over and opened the door.
“Good morning!” Olivia greeted the driver and her friend and Amber smiled at her as nothing could bother her.
“Morning, miss.” The driver answered and tipped his hat, as Olivia sat down. She looked over to Amber, but she only raised an eyebrow, as if she was wondering what her friend thought. And with that she realized with a relieved sigh that her friend chose the latter option. Apparently she would ignore the topic, luckily. Olivia would’ve not known how to react if she did…
…Well, until Amber did it though.
“The kiss was nice.” Amber smirked, making Olivia blush very hard, as the car drove them silently to Bannerman.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…” Olivia rambled as she whispered, not wanting the driver to hear anything, but Amber just shook her head.
“Don’t worry.” She laid her hand on Olivia’s, squeezing it slightly. And with that the brunette directed her gaze back to the front. “Hope this day passes quickly, I have a headache.” She changed the topic and Olivia didn’t dare to address it again. True , Olivia thought, she wished this day would pass quickly as well!
The day didn’t pass quickly. Instead it stretched like gum and Olivia just wished she could crawl back into her bed and take some rest. Just sleep and wake up to a brand new day. Not that she really hoped all her problems would vanish overnight, but hope dies last, right?
She didn’t talk much with Amber, her friend was too busy to get into fights with people. Maybe her friend was a little stressed although she didn’t show it? Friend, she repeated the word slowly in her mind. Were they friends again? Were they even friends before? What were they now? The thoughts made her dizzy, resting her head on the cold window glass in the hallway.
“Are you fine?” Bree looked at her, raising an eyebrow. She wasn’t usually asking for someone's state of mind, so Olivia realized she really must be looking horrible.
“Yes, I’m just… Nevermind.” She interrupted herself as Amber appeared next to her, dragging her away from Bree, which gazed after them, shrugging her shoulders, before she walked away, searching for John.
“What did she want?”
“Nothing, just asking about how I feel.”
“Why would she care?” Amber raised an eyebrow, and true, nobody knew about DGM, so of course the question was weird for someone outside the circle.
“True, actually I have no idea what’s up with her, but anyway, where are we going?”
“I want to save this day and spend it with you, do you care?”
“No, not at all.” Olivia smiled. “I would love to, this day was shit so far!”
“Honestly so true!” Both laughed as they stepped into the car that brought them back to Amber’s house.
They chilled on her bed, watching silly clips and trying out new Snapchat filters, something they used to do before and both were relieved that it didn’t change anything between them. And with it , they meant the kiss. The kiss that felt so present nevertheless, and as much as Olivia wanted to hide it, the attraction between them was real. So real that Amber’s perfume nearly made her high and her stomach twirl. And it felt good and right and even if they didn’t say what they thought, their communication was between the lines and they understood each other pretty well even without words.
They laid side by side, listening to some Sugababes, as Amber's voice reached Olivia.
“How are you feeling?” Amber looked at her and Olivia understood what she really meant.
“Because of Donte?” And Amber nod, making Olivia think for a second about her answer. “I thought I would be more heartbroken, but to be honest, I’m feeling alright. Is that weird?”
“Not at all.” Amber smiled. The blonde seemed to have something else in mind, Amber could tell just by looking at her.
“Can I ask you something too?” Olivia rested her body on her forearms, as she suddenly faced Amber.
“Why did you pair me up with Donte if you were…” Olivia blushed. “… interested in me?”
“Because he is the most decent boy in Bannerman and I knew he would never make a move further on you.” Amber laughed. “I’m kidding, I thought he would never hurt you and be a good boyfriend for you.”
“And he was, so you were not wrong.” Olivia reached for the hem of Amber’s sequined top, starting to play with it, as they laid so close, their bodies felt warm from each other's closeness.
They never felt more comfortable in their lives before.
***
Olivia fell into her bed, resting her eyes as her phone buzzed.
Who could that possibly be? She smiled as she saw the name on the notification and answered right away.
She pushed send and her heart skipped a beat. A heart emoji? Was that too much? Get your shit together Livy, you send heart emojis all the time! She quickly put the phone aside while her face was bright red. She didn’t dare to look at it until the next morning.
But she woke up to no answer from Amber.
*WASTED* like gamers would say.

Awkward .
That was the word with which Olivia would describe the ride the next morning.
Amber didn't really talk to her, focusing mostly on her phone, apparently deep into a conversation. After Olivia tried several times to start a conversation, she gave up and let Amber typing furiously. She would surely tell her what was going on, right? But she waited all day and nothing happened. Amber even seemed to avoid her, which was weird for her. As soon as classes ended she was gone and for lunch, Olivia sat alone with the rest of their group. No trace from Amber.
***
“I knew this day would come…” Rex looked devastated. He had ignored Amber’s texts the whole morning, trying to avoid what was unavoidable, making her really mad in return. But she had hunted him down, cornering him behind school. “The timing really sucks though.”
She said nothing. It was an awkward situation for both of them. Of course Amber knew Mikas passing was just a few weeks ago, but still. She had to do what she had to do.
Olivia never addressed Rex when they hanged out, but of course she must be thinking it was awkward.
“No way I can change your mind?” He looked at her, searching for a glimpse of something in her eyes, but found nothing. “Can you do me a favor?”
“What?”
“Can you accompany me to the party my parents are throwing this weekend? It’s the first event without Mika and I don’t want to go there alone.”
“And after that, we make the break up officially?” Amber would’ve liked to make a clean cut, but she also understood his struggle.
“Yes. Until then, please don’t tell anyone.”
“Alright, I will accompany you. And keep it between us, for now.”
“Thank you.” Rex said, obviously still heartbroken, but he tried to stay strong.
As Amber turned around, he asked her one last thing.
“Do I know him?” But she just walked and ignored him.
***
Just when school ended and Olivia was about to head home, Amber catched up with her.
“I’m sorry I got so lost today, now I’m all yours.”
“Apologizing, again? Amber, do you have a fever?” Olivia laughed, glad her friend was back by her side. She had feared that maybe she was the reason for Amber to act so strange, but apparently that was not the case. Thank god.
“Don’t get used to it.” Amber laughed. She really seemed to be relieved, whatever was bothering her before must vanish into dust. “How about sushi at my place?”
“Only if you let me decide the movie this time. I don’t want to watch another slasher movie.”
“I can’t help myself, they relax me.” Amber shrugged her shoulders. “And I will kill you if you ever tell a single soul.”
“My lips are sealed.” Olivia smiled.
“What a shame.” Amber whispered, as she passed her and walked a step further.
“Uh?”
“I didn’t say a word. Look, the car is already waiting.” And with that Amber walked a little bit faster, but Olivia suspected her to only want to avoid the topic.
“You said something!”
“I can’t hear you.” And with that Amber started to run and now Olivia was 100% sure her friend was hiding something. But she was cute doing so and with that thought, she ran after her, catching up quickly.
***
The day was long and tiring, and as Olivia sat in bed with Amber to watch a RomCom, her eyes felt heavy. She fought for some time, but gave in. Her head bumped slowly on Amber’s shoulder, making the brunette smile. She carefully put a strain of hair behind Olivia's ear.
“You’re so beautiful. “ She whispered, more to herself than to anyone else, as she let her friend get the rest she needed.
Amber already didn’t pay any attention to the movie for a while now, so she let her thoughts wander. She didn’t dare to move a single inch, as her head rested on Olivia’s and she felt her breath warm against her skin, butterflies rose in her stomach.
She sighed, softly smiling. Why was it so easy for her to be soft around Olivia? Like when they first met it clicked for her right away. She saw a raw diamond and took her under her wing. And what she had said before was true, she never wanted to change Olivia, she loved her way too much to do so.
She was ripped out of her thoughts as Olivia moved slightly and mumbled something in her sleep, which only made her more adorable. Amber sighed again, taking Amber's slender hand into her own. This was the best way to end the day for sure , she thought.
Olivia maybe was not ready yet, but she was and she would wait for her, no matter how long it would take for the blonde to accept her own feelings towards Amber. Her heart already felt lighter because she had sort things out with Rex and she couldn’t wait to tell Olivia about it.
And with that thought, Amber dozed into a calm sleep, her fingers intertwined with Olivias.
Chapter 5
Summary:
At the party, Amber can only think about Olivia.
As they finally meet, a kiss leads to chaos.
Chapter Text
"Everybody's on something here
My God send, chemical best friend
Skeleton whispering in my ear
Walk with me to the end
Stare with me into the abyss
Do you feel like letting go?
I wonder how far down it is
Nothing is fun
Not like before
You don't get me high anymore
Used to take one
Now it takes four
You don't get me high anymore"
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
Amber stood there, right by Rex's side, as he was talking to some friends of his parents, doing the good deed of the son of the family. She already wasn’t listening anymore, just nodding now and then, to pretend she was invested in the talk about shares and a certain joint-stock company. She hated these kinds of parties and died a little inside every time.
Just this last one and she was done with it all , she told herself like a mantra.
The fact that Olivia was at another party that was thrown at a secret location and she couldn't be a part of, was not really helping. She sighed.
“Is everything alright? You seem distracted.” Rex whispered to her, as their interlocutors turned away to get some new drink.
“Yes, when can I go?”
“Just a little longer…” He said, his voice obviously disappointed by her reaction, but she couldn’t care less.
In that moment she got a message from Olivia, it was a boomerang of her jumping over a burning coal dancefloor. Amber raised an eyebrow. She really wished she could be by her side and…
Damn, she really wished they could kiss again. The only time their lips had met was in the theater and it was so brief, and still. She kind of still could taste Olivia on her lips, which obviously was not possible. She sighed.
“We can leave now if you are suffering so much.”
“We?”
“Well, I guess we have the same destination.” Rex showed her his phone, with a SnapChat from the same party that Olivia was attending. She was concerned for a second, did he look at her phone while she checked Olivia's message, but he soon added that all people were there already.
The sound of the music was already loud from the outside, as Rex's car stopped right in front of an abandoned swimming hall. Amber didn’t even know they had something like this in their rural location nearby and now she saw the effort somebody had put into making this into the perfect party location. And whoever it was, it was a success. For sure.
“Let’s split up now.” She said to Rex, as she stepped out of the car. She didn’t even look at him, as she walked to the entrance. Her whole focus was on Olivia. She just wanted to see her, being close to her… Maybe even kiss her, if it was okay for the blonde. She wanted to kiss her so badly, it drove her crazy. After all her deal with Rex was over and she could just tell her, finally.
The place was crowded and it took her a while to find Olivia, but she did. Of course, then soulmates find each other, always.
“Hey, I hope you didn’t miss me.” Amber laughed, making the blonde starlet for a second.
“You made it! I thought you couldn’t.” Olivia hugged her tightly, before taking a step back and checking her out, just as Amber did with her. She looked stunning in the dress Amber had purchased for her earlier this summer.
"Gorgeous." Olivia smiled, she was a little tipsy already. “Even matching and all.”
“Said the right one, you look stunning.” Amber blushed hard, just as Olivia did and they quickly took a selfie together.
“I’m so glad I finally found you.” Amber had to come really close, because the music was so loud. “I have to tell you something.”
“What could that probably be?” Olivia's hands were suddenly holding Amber’s face, their eyes connected, as their lips did moment after that.
Amber's mind was blown away, just as Olivia’s. It was just another little peck, but they knew they had all the time in the world. Olivia still held Amber’s face, as they smiled, forgetting everything that surrounded them.
Till…
“Wait, what?” Rex suddenly popped up and he was fuming from anger. “There is no way I can accept that , whatever that is.” He hissed, as he pushed them apart, nearly making Olivia fall to the ground.
“What is wrong with you?” Amber glared at him, as she moved quickly over to Olivia, to help her get a hold again.
But he wasn’t even listening, spitting in their direction. “Don’t tell me you are suddenly a lesbian… or worse, that I made you gay because… no.” He whispered angrily, his eyes switching between the two girls. “No, that’s not gonna happen.” He grabbed Amber by her arm, trying to take her with him. Well, he tried, until a slap right across his face made him stumble.
He let go of Amber, holding his face as he looked in shock at Olivia. She looked shocked too, her hand still raised and the eyes of everyone around them focusing on them.
“What is going on here?” Donte looked concerned. “Rex, is there any problem here?”
“This is none of your business.” Olivia said quickly, before Rex even could say a single word. Suddenly she was sober and actually she was panicking really hard at that moment, her body trembling. For her, to slap a rich boy like Rex, could be her downfall.
“Alright.” Donte said, still realizing that something was up. He was not dumb after all and he knew Olivia well enough to still read the situation correctly. “C’mon Rex, I wanted to show you something anyway.” He grabbed the other boy by his shoulder and led him away.
Olivia and Amber looked after them until they vanished into the crowd, then Olivia turned to the brunette.
“I-I have to go.”
“Olivia, I will call my driver and…”
“No, I’ll take an Uber.” And with that, she vanished into the crowd as well.
Olivia waited for the Uber, checking the location every second. Did she make a mistake, by leaving Amber behind? She walked up and down, her thoughts going back and forth as well. No, she had to go back and take her with her. The Uber was still far enough, they could still make it back in time. So she turned around and rushed back inside.
It was even more crowded than before and Olivia made her way through the people, but as she reached the spot she had left before, Amber was gone. She looked for her, even went up to the second floor, looking for her from the top. Maybe she could spot her from here.
And she did spot her.
Sitting close with Rex.
Tears fill her eyes, as she rushed out, jumping right into the Uber that had just arrived. She cried the whole way home.
“How dare you talk to me like that?” Amber had grabbed Rex by his shirt collar, his face so close that she could smell his sweat. “And how dare you put Olivia in this position?!”
“Who do you think you are?” Rex tried to lose her grip, but she wouldn’t let him at all. “I will destroy your family!”
“Who I am? Your biggest nightmare if you don’t stop talking nonsense like this.” She whispered to him. Of course, his family was powerful, but so was her own. “Don’t test me.” Was the last she hissed to him, as she finally let go, standing up and facing him from above.
“Don’t dare to get in between me and Olivia or I will be the one destroying you.”

Chapter Text
CHAPTER SONG - Never be like You feat Kai by Flume
“What I would do to take away this fear of being loved
Allegiance to the pain
Now I'm fucked up and I'm missing you
He'll never be like you
I would give anything to change this fickle-minded heart
That loves fake shiny things
Now I'm fucked up and I'm missing you
He'll never be like you
I'm only human, can't you see?
I made, I made a mistake
Please just look me in my face
Tell me everything's okay
'Cause I got it”

Olivia didn’t return to the Bannermans the next school day, nor did she answer any texts or phone calls from Amber. And that was not helping the fierce girl. Things were hard for Amber, as she had to face the rumors all by herself and Rex had started a campaign to kick her off her throne. But she was Amber Stevens and if anyone could manage to smother the rumors and sail through this storm, then it was her. She would not feed the trolls. And with that, soon people returned to their usual gossiping and concentrated on other things.
To Amber’s relief, leaving the only struggle she had that she still missed her best friend.
“Did you hear anything from Olivia?” She was asked by Jen.
“How about you mind your own damn business?” She snapped back, making the other girl turn around real quickly. If Amber had a bad temper before, it only had gotten worse since Olivia had disappeared. Now nobody would talk some sense into her, when she snapped or when she was mean for no reason.
Again, she checked her phone after opening the chat with Olivia, but the little check marks were still gray, so Olivia didn’t even read them yet. She sighed.
She couldn’t put into words how much she missed her best friend, as she sat down in class, the seat to her right staying vacant. Olivia, please come back , she begged.
What could she possibly do?
She stopped right in her motion as something crossed her mind. Well, she could definitely do something.

“I can’t let my reputation go down the drain because of those two.” Rex rambled, as they sat in the library, both him and Donte leaned over a text book.
“What are you even talking about?” Donte looked at his friend, raising an eyebrow.
Pssst. The librarian passed by, reminding them where they were.
“Amber and Olivia, they kissed!” Rex hissed, as the woman was far enough, scolding someone else over breathing too loud.
“And?” Donte still looked at his friend as if he was not understanding.
"And?! Did you just realize what I said, they kissed like in lesbian kissing .” Rex's voice got a little too loud again and he earned a mad gaze from the librarian.
“Don’t tell me you didn’t know they were a thing somehow. It was kind of so obvious.” Donte focused back on the text in front of him.
“What do you mean?” Rex laid his hand right onto the text, so Donte had to look back at him.
“I mean that these two have been in love for ages, c’mon. That’s why Olivia and I broke up after all.” Donte laughed, taking Rex's hand away from his own book and placing it back on the table.
“But..”
“But nothing. Don’t be so self centered, nobody changes their sexuality because of you.” Donte sighed and Rex went very quiet. Maybe his friend was right and he had overreacted big time.
Maybe he owed an apology… After all, Olivia was missing since their encounter. He had to fix that.

Amber never had been so close to this place, only catching a glimpse when her car waited for Olivia to come out. But here she was, right in front of Olivia's flat. She still didn’t know if it was the best idea. Maybe Olivia had her reasons to never invite her over. But as her friend was avoiding her, she had no other choice, right? She was just worried, like a good friend would be, right? Right?
She entered the building through the white entrance, leading her steps upstairs, looking for the right door sign. Somewhere a baby cried. On the second floor she finally found the right one. Hayes.
She took a deep breath in, before her finger pressed the doorbell.
Silence.
Until she heard steps coming closer, just to suddenly stop. Silence again.
“I know you are there, please open the door.” Amber took a step closer to the door. Silence. “Don’t let me stay here like a fool, Olivia.”
She heard the clicking noise of the door lock turn open, as the door opened slowly. Amber gulped, Olivia looked like she had cried straight through the last days.
“I-” The blonde wanted to say, but Amber just stepped closer, hugging her so close, as if she would never let go of her, and it took a moment for Olivia to overcome, before she returned the hug deeply as well.
“I missed you so much.” Amber whispered into Olivia’s hair. “Please don’t leave me ever again.”
“I’m sorry.” Olivia nodded, as she let go of Amber. “Do you want to come in?”
“Well, I kind of did already, didn't I?” Amber smiled, pointing out she already had passed the door frame. “So, yes, of course.” She passed by Olivia, who closed the door behind her.
Olivia followed her, her eyes nervous, as Amber looked around.
“I know, it’s nothing compared to your house..”
“I think it is super cozy, I love it.” Amber turned around to her with the biggest smile, making her friend comfortable again.
“Do you want tea?” The blonde asked, as she helped her friend to get comfortable as well.
"Yes, please!" Amber nodded, as she slipped out of her shoes and coat, and dropped her bag on a nearby chair. “I’ll lend you a hand.”
Amber had feared it would be awkward, but it wasn’t at all. It was the total contrary and Olivia seemed to be relieved too.
As they sat down together on the couch, a hot tea in their hands, it seemed like nothing had changed between them.
“When will you come back?” Amber asked, blowing her cup to cool down the tea..
“I can’t…”
“Nobody will dare to say anything to you, I promise that.” Amber put her cup down on the coffee table.
“And Rex? I get why he got so mad, I kissed his girlfriend after all and…”
“We had broken up before we met Olivia, that’s what I wanted to tell you.”
“What?” The blonde choked on her tea.
“I said…” Amber took the cup out of Olivas hands, putting it next to her own, before holding Olivia's hands. “... that we broke up.”
“But at the party, I came back to get you and you were sitting with him.”
“Of course, I could not let his behavior slide after all. He pushed you!”
“I see…” Olivia blushed, as she realized that Amber was still holding her hands, caressing the back of her hand carefully with her thumb.
“Wait, you came back?” Amber just realized, it made her heart flutter.
Olivia nodded, as she moved a little bit closer. They just stared at each other, the world became irrelevant.
“May I…?” Amber’s eyes switched between Olivia's blue eyes and her full rosy lips.
"Yes, please."
And this time, they felt no need to rush, connecting their lips in a soft and gentle way, as they held each other close. It was perfect and made them both meld into each other. They had waited so long for that, that a lot of emotions had accumulated and now they poured out between them, making their kiss soon a little more passionate.
As they split for a second, both were slightly panting.
“I’m sorry, I just can’t stop.” Olivia giggled, resting her forehead against Amber’s, making the latter smile big time.
“Me neither.” She smiled, but her voice got a little more serious. “But I understand if you're still not ready. I will wait.”
“Amber.” Olivia rolled her eyes. “We just made out for half an hour, I am more than ready.”
Both girls burst out in laughter, kissing each other quickly before embracing each other deeply.
“I can’t wait for you to come back to Bannerman. It was a lonely reign since you left.”
“I will never leave you again.”
***
And Olivia held her word and returned, and ruled by Amber's side.
And whenever someone came for one of them, the other would talk them to the ground and show them their place. And finally, even Rex approached them and apologized, Donte standing right behind him as he winked at Olivia.
“I’m sorry, I overreacted.” He said, scratching his head as he was too embarrassed to even look at them.
“Let that be a lesson for you.” Amber just said, as she grabbed her girlfriend's hand and left the boys behind. Olivia giggled, as she intertwined their fingers, walking side by side.
Who would’ve thought everything could turn out so well? DGM had been free of accusation since Ronnie’s and Mika’s murderer had been convicted and she was finally able to accept her feelings. There still was a long way before them, but time would show, if they could make it.
And Olivia was sure, she and Amber had a bright future ahead.
