Summary:

In their society everywhere has an idea what an alpha, beta, and omega is. Just so happens that this friends defy every one of those ideas.

Zuko, the firstborn omega son of an important CEO has almost be looked down upon by his alpha sister, and their father, he decides to go to his best friends' place when he has had enough.

Mai, the beta daughter of lawyer, is done with her father and mother trying to get her up with any suitor that comes forward, so when her best friend shows up she is willing to do anything.

Ty Lee, the alpha daughter of Ozai's most important clients, is done with her parents and her older sisters. Once Zuko came over done with his own dad, she thought of a perfect idea that would be for the best for them all.

Chapter 1: ;1;

Zuko couldn’t take it anymore.

When he was young, he learned that he was not allowed to choose anything for himself.

Ever since he was young his father policed whatever he was interested in. He wasn’t allowed to enjoy plays and musicals that he watched with his mom, he wasn’t allowed to like cooking and making tea with his uncle, and for some reason he wasn’t allowed to enjoy fencing with his cousin.
Not only was he not allowed to like any of that, his father forced him into taking extra lessons on the family business.
Everything only got worse when he presented as an omega. He got abused by his father and sister.
Not only that, but he lost his cousin at the age of eleven, and then just two days later his mom went missing. Two years later his father would give him his permanent scar that makes him half blind in his left eye, and half deaf in his left ear.
But of course even after everything he was still forced to work at the family business that his alpha sister became CEO of.

He was finally done.

He’s walking to his best friend’s, Mai’s, apartment to talk to her.

Once he gets to the door he knocks on the door.

“We aren’t home. Go away.”

He chuckles at that, “it’s just me.”

Ty Lee opens the door smiling, “well hello there.”

He rolls his eyes, “hello.”

Ty Lee moves out of the doorway to let him in.

He walked in making sure there was no one on the couch before falling onto it groaning.

“I know that groan,” he turns his head to see Mai standing in the kitchen doorway, “hey scarry.”

He flips her off, “hey blob.”

Ty Lee comes over to lift his legs before sitting down, and places his legs on her lap, “what happened this time?”

He looks at her, “my bitch of a sister thought that just because she is CEO she can tell me what to do with my own damn hobbies.”

Ty Lee boos at that and Mai speaks up, “she can go fuck herself.”

It was hard to believe that Mai and Ty Lee used to be friends with Azula.

Mai is a beta. She used to be Azula's longest friend, but she got fed up with her when she and their father kept on trying to push Mai and Zuko to date.

Ty Lee is an alpha. She had been Azula’s best friend at one point, but after being gaslighted and manipulated for years, she finally had enough.

Zuko was happy to have them as his friends now.

Ty Lee starts to message his ankles, “so what hobbies was she talking about?”

Zuko rolls his eyes, “my tattoos, my love for theatre, and my drawings.”

Mai blows a raspberry, “she can go fuck herself.”

Ty Lee nods, “yeah. What gives her the right?”

Mai nods in agreement.

Zuko smiles softly at that.

Even after everything Zuko was just happy to have his friends.

Ty Lee quickly gets up, knocking Zuko off of the couch, “I just had an idea.”

Mai looks at her, “that’s a first.”

Zuko sits up as he laughs.

Ty Lee glares at them, “I guess I won’t share my idea with you all.”

Zuko turns to her, “no please go ahead.”

Mai nods, “yeah let’s hear it.”

Ty Lee looks at them before smiling, “you sure.”

“Ty Lee!!”

She laughs, “alright alright,” she then takes in a deep breath, “I think we should move.”

Mai and Zuko look at her before Mai speaks up, “that’s... actually a good idea.”

Zuko nods, “yeah, congratulations.”

Ty Lee smiles at that, “thanks.”

Mai sighs, “just one problem. If we do go through with it, we need some time before going ahead with it.”

Ty Lee waves her hand, “we can do it.”

Zuko sighs, “it will take a while for it to actually work.”

Ty Lee smiles at him, “it will be worth it.”

Mai hums as she rubs her chin, “it could be good.”

Zuko thinks before shaking his head, “I’m willing to try anything.”

Ty Lee jumps up, “yes.”

Zuko and Mai look at each other before chuckling.

Chapter 2: ;2;

Their planning was actually going great.

That night they wanted to figure out where they would move to before anything else.

Mai was going through the lists of states trying to find a great place to move to, “Ba Sing Se?”

Zuko smiled, “well it would be nice to live in the same state as Uncle Iroh, but...“ his smile then fell, “it won’t work. Ba Sing Se is too expensive.”

Ty Lee groans, “damn it.”

Mai hums, “Rozu?”

Ty Lee shakes her head, “no. My oldest sister lives there with her boyfriend.”

Mai groans as Zuko shudders, “okay, how about Mizu?”

Zuko raises an eyebrow, “North or South?”

Ty Lee’s eyes widened at that, “not North. They still have certain laws against omegas.”

Zuko tenses up at that before turning to her, “like what?”

Ty Lee looks at him, “you wouldn’t be allowed to get a job, and if me and you live together that means we’re mates.”

Zuko flinches at that, “not North Mizu. Anywhere, but North Mizu.”

Mai looks at Zuko with a soft look, “of course, how about South Mizu?”

Ty Lee smiles, “I think it would be the best opinion. They are really accepting down there, and they don’t have any laws against omegas, not even alphas or betas.”

Zuko smiles back at her, “not to mention the people there don’t judge at all, no matter what it is.”

Mai reads something before turning to them, “it’s also not too expensive to live there, between us three we could share an apartment.”

Ty Lee punches the air, “yo, we have the place.”

Mai looks at her, “we still don’t know where apartments are located that we can rent.”

Zuko hums, “and we still need to get jobs there so we can pay the rent.”

Ty Lee looks down, “what do you guys suggest?”

Mai closes her laptop, “we each are going to look for places that are hiring in the same place, and choose. Make sure it’s something you can do.”

Zuko sits up, “are there any tattoo parlors there who are looking for employees?”

Mai shrugs.

Ty Lee thinks before pulling out her phone and searches up, and smiles, “yeah. Right here. Tribal Tattoos, looking for a new tattoo artist.”

Zuko gets up and takes her phone.

Ty Lee glares at him, “hey!”

Zuko glares back, “shut it slut.”

Mai laughs at that.

Ty Lee’s eyes widened before smiling.

Zuko looks through it before sending it to himself.

Ty Lee looks at him, “can I have my phone back?”

Zuko sticks his tongue out at her before throwing her phone at her.

Ty Lee narrows her eyes, “ass.”

“Bitch,” he throws back to her before they both burst into laughter.

Mai looks through other jobs that are available in South Mizu, “there's a bar near Tribal Tattoos that's hiring. You up for that Ty?”

Ty Lee smiles at her, “that sounds great. Zuko and I can walk together to work every day.”

“Ew,” Zuko says before smirking at her, “clingy much.”

Ty Lee smiles back jokingly, “I’m a psychopath.”

They all laugh at that before Mai perks up.

Zuko and Ty Lee look at her anticipation.

Mai looks at them, “there's an opening at the SM law firm.”

Zuko smiles, “Mai, that's great.”

Ty Lee jumps up, “fuck yeah. We just need to send our applications, and we’re on our way.”

Zuko looks at Ty Lee as she speaks before looking back at Mai, “any apartments open?”

Mai looks at him before looking, and nodding, “Gator Apartments, it's a mile from the tattoo parlor.”

Ty Lee smiles before coming over, “send the owner a message. We're moving to South Mizu.”

Mai and Zuko smile at her before laughing.

Ty Lee looks at them pouting before laughing herself.

Once they stop, Zuko goes to make them some food as Ty Lee picks out a movie, and Mai messages the owner of Gator Apartments.

Chapter 3

Zuko was finishing up packing. Two days ago they heard back from Hama, the owner of Gator Apartments, and just yesterday they each got a call back from the tattoo parlor, the bar, and the law firm. 

 

Everything was finally in place. 

 

Zuko zips up his suitcase, and places his backpack on his shoulder before making his way out into his living room. 

 

Once in there he takes in a deep breath at the sight of his sister standing in the room. 

 

She smirks at him, “Zuzu, there you are great news. An Alpha finally asked Dad to mate you.”

 

Zuko tenses up at that, “what?”

 

She nods, “yes Zhao asked for permission to mate you, and Dad said yes, so I'm taking you down to the courthouse for your wedding.”

 

Zuko started breathing heavily before narrowing his eyes, and forcing his breath to even out, “no.”

 

Azula glares at him, “what did you say?”

 

Zuko glares back at her, “hell fucking no. You nor that bastard has any say in my life, I would rather die than marry Zhao, that asshole.”

 

Azula walks up to him glaring before, “ you will come with me Omega .”

 

Zuko stands up straight. He is no stranger to Alpha commands, especially ones from his sister and dad. 

 

Before he can move to follow her, they hear, “ Zuko, go to the car, and stay there ,” that command echoed louder than Azula’s. 

 

Zuko saw Ty Lee in the doorway glaring at Azula before he bolted out of there heading towards Mai’s car. 

 

As soon as Mai saw his running figure, she quickly opened the passenger's door allowing him to jump in, and closing the door behind him. 

 

“Zuko?” Mai asks as his breath starts to quicken again. 

 

He was really close to having a panic attack before Mai starts playing Citizen Soldier via her phone. 

 

Zuko finally calms down before looking at Mai, “Thank you.”

 

Mai nods before allowing her bored expression to come back on her face, “throw your shit in the back dumbass.”

 

Zuko laughs at that before picking up his suitcase, and throwing it over the seat. 

 

They sit there for a while before Ty Lee comes back, and gets into the back seats and closes the door. 

 

“We need to get out of here now,” she says as she quickly gets her seatbelt on, “Azula is calling your dad, and he and Zhass will be here to force you to marry the fucker.”

 

Both Mai and Zuko laugh at their nickname for Zhao as Mai slowly, but quickly moves out of the parking lot, and gets onto the road. 

 

“Seriously,” Ty Lee says, finally noticing the magic playing, “Citizen Soldier?”

 

“I'm sorry,” Zuko says in an annoyed tone, “who's having the mental breakdown here?”

 

Mai and Ty Lee burst out laughing at that.

They already knew it was a long drive to South Mizu, but lucky for them they’ll be getting there as the sun starts setting. 

 

Already Zuko’s phone has gone off five times, and still counting. 

 

Ty Lee whistles as the ringing then stops for the sixth time, “how long do you think they'll go for before realizing you're not going to answer?”

 

Zuko groans, “I don't know. I wish they would just stop.”

 

Mai looks over to him for a moment before looking back at the road, “you can just block them, you know.”

 

After that statement Zuko tenses up. He knows he can block them, he has blocked them before, but it didn't end well. 

 

Ty Lee looks between them before looking at Zuko, and moving towards him, “I can block them for you if you want.”

 

Zuko looks at her before handing her his phone, “please.”

 

She nods before taking his phone, “what's your password?”

 

He blushes before muttering, “Ember Island.”

 

“Ember Island?” Mai asks, raising an eyebrow, “I thought you hated that place?”

 

Zuko narrows his eyes and crosses his arms as his blushes intensifies, “I do, but it's also where most of my favorite memories took place.”

 

Ty Lee coos as that as she gets into his contacts before clearing her throat, “and now on behalf of Zuko Suisei, I now pronounce you both blocked, and deleted,” after doing so she throws his phone into his lap, “they may now kiss my ass,” she says as she lays down, and throws a middle finger up as well. 

 

Zuko and Mai laugh at that as they finish seeing a glimpse of the welcome to South Mizu sign.

The sun settled down about an hour ago, and they finally reached Gator Apartments. 

 

Mai parks the car before nudging Zuko awake. 

 

He groans before slowly opening his eyes and rubs his good eye, “are we there?”

 

“Yep,” Mai says as she nods, “I’m getting our stuff out, wake Ty Lee.” She then gets out of the car taking the keys with her. 

 

Zuko finishes rubbing his eye before yawning, and turning to face Ty Lee, who was laying down on all three of the seats. 

He flicks her forehead, “we’re here dumbass wake up.”

 

She groans before yawning out, and looks around, “we there?”

 

Zuko nods, “yeah, Mai’s grabbing our stuff, let's help her out.”

 

Ty Lee sits up to stretch before climbing out of the car. 

 

Zuko looks at the apartment building. 

 

It had to be at least five stories, and if it's like the other hotels he's been in probably five apartments on each floor. 

 

He signs before grabbing his backpack, and finally gets out of the car himself. 

Once out his suitcase was rolled over to him. Zuko smiles before grabbing it, “thanks.”

 

Looking over he sees Ty Lee smiling at him, “no problemo.”

 

Zuko rolls his eyes before they walk over to him before they all walk into Gater Apartments. 

 

Right there at the front desk was an old lady. She turned to them and smiled, “welcome to Gator Apartments, I’m Hama. You must be Mai, Ty Lee, and Zuko.”

 

Mai nods, “yes we are.”

 

Ty Lee smiles, “it's so nice to meet you!”

 

Hama laughs before grabbing three keys, and walks over to them, “I put you all in 4D.”

 

Zuko takes one of the keys, “thank you.”

 

Hama nods at him, “have a good night.” She then walks into a room that is behind the desk. 

 

They all look at each other before shrugging, and going to the elevator. 

 

As soon as they got to their floor, Zuko was happy to see his thoughts were correct. Five apartments. 

 

They get to their apartment, and walk in. 

 

The basics were all there: kitchen, table and chairs, bathroom, washer and dryer, and finally a couch. 

 

“Dibs on the couch,” Ty Lee says before flinging herself onto the couch. 

 

Zuko rolls his eyes before taking his backpack off his shoulders, and takes out his futon. 

He smirks, “jokes on you slut, I got this.”

 

Ty Lee sticks her tongue out at him. 

 

He returns the jester. 

 

Mai rolls her eyes before finding a place for her own futon, and gets ready for sleep. 

 

Ty Lee and Zuko follow her lead. And as soon as they got there they were soon all asleep.
