Robotnik's inconsistent sleep schedule had been tamed to a few hours a night. No longer were the days of staying up for nights on end. However, his agent couldn't break him of one habit, waking up at what stone calls "the ungodly hour of 4 a.m." Ivo found himself smiling at the memory, looking over at the soft expression on his agent's sleeping face. One thing Robotnik had kept to himself was his guilty pleasure of watching Stone sleep.
Ivo felt safer admiring Stone when he was unconscious, no risk of embarrassing himself in front of the always stoic man. Robotnik had a reputation to uphold, he couldn't be tongue tied and swooning over his assistant. He couldn't let his eyes linger on Stone's bright smile when Ivo complements his coffee, or his eyes when they widen at one of his inventions. However he could let his eyes linger now, while stone sleeps.
Robotnik let his eyes take in every feature, committing them to his excellent memory. The warm tone of his skin, the straight line of his nose, the perfectly groomed stubble on his cheeks; they made his heart flutter in his chest. A most uncomfortable feeling if he were being honest. They had been a "couple" for a few months now and Ivo is yet to get used to these new intense emotions.
A small badnik came beeping over, alerting him that his allotted admiration time was over. Work was always waiting. His agent wouldn't be expected down in the lab for another 2 hours. He let the man sleep. Although Ivo did bend to kiss Stone on the forehead, tucking the blankets more snuggly around him. It was time for him to leave, and Robotnik found it interesting how for the first time in his life he wasn't eager to get to work. He longed to lounge in bed with his lover, the way people always did in movies.
Maybe some day he will give into the temptation. For now, Robotnik made his way to his lab. Work was always waiting.
