Chapter 1: Challenge Accepted

"She's doing it again," A Twenty-year-old Emira Blight whispered to her twin brother, Edric Blight, as the twins and Emira's fiancée, Viney, sat at the Owl House, the most underrated bar and pool place in their little town of Bonesborough, Connecticut.

Edric, who was busy talking to Viney regarding their first day at the Noceda Veterinarian Clinic, turned and followed his sister's annoyed expression and let out a deep sigh.

Sitting in a booth was the group of teens that many in the town referred to as the Hexsquad. Eighteen-year-old Willow Park, twenty-year-old Hunter Deomonne, sixteen-year-old Gus Porter, eighteen-year-old Vee Noceda, seventeen-year-old Luz Noceda, and their baby sister, eighteen-year-old Amity Blight, conversed about some sort of event. Seeing the six of them hanging out was normal, especially after the….incident with the mayor that nearly killed them all.

But what was a recent event was their sister.

Their darling little lavender-haired rebel recently realized after the chaotic last year at Hexside that she was deeply in love with the town's hero and couldn't keep her hands off of her. Not that she was aware of her crush on the literal ball of sunshine named Luz.

But Edric and Emira knew better.

Amity didn't allow anyone to touch her, except for Luz. And their little Mittens went out of her way to avoid touching everyone else but Luz. Not even her childhood friend, Willow Park, wasn't touched as much as Luz.

For example, while the group of six chatted away, Luz sat on Amity's lap, with Amity's hand pressed flush against the brown-eyed girl's bare stomach.

"Oh lord," Edric groaned as he covered his face with his right hand.

"Do they often do that?" Viney asked from beside Edric.

Edric snorted at this and answered, "Every time we see her, she has her hands on Luz. And Luz, god bless her, doesn't even mind it."

"Hm, that explains why I saw Amity massaging Luz's ankle yesterday when I came over," Viney commented.

"Okay, this cannot keep going. I can't watch this sickening sight any longer," Emira told her girlfriend and twin with a cross of her arms. "We dealt with this for a month now and I can't take it any longer!"

"Uh-oh," Viney and Edric said in unison.

"I can't believe Eda is really going to try to marry them both at the same time."

Amity Blight couldn't help but smile at the excited tone of her best friend, Luz Noceda, as she recounted the tale of Eda Clawthorne, Luz's other Mom, proposing to both Camila Noceda and Raine Whispers. She had even gotten them matching rings and everything.

She supposed it was fitting. Facing death like she, Luz, and Luz's little brother, King Clawthorne, had done really put a lot of things into focus.

And as Amity felt the scar on Luz's bare stomach, that rang even more true for her.

"But isn't Polmory relationships illegal?" Gus asked, his dark blue eyes glittering with curiosity.

"Knowing Eda, she'll make it legal somehow," Hunter snorted with a grin on his face. "So, tomorrow is officially your birthday, Luz. What do you have planned?"

"Hey, hey, it's both of our birthdays," Luz corrected, referring to Vee, who flushed and drank down a bit of her grape soda. "And I can't wait!"

"Neither can I," Willow calmly agreed, a gentle smile on her face. "I found the perfect gift for you both."

"You didn't have to do that," Luz said with a kind smile on her face. "At least, not for me. Just having you all as friends is more than enough."

Amity watched as Willow shook her head and said, "Oh no, you are not going to be humble about your birthday."

"Seriously! After everything we've been through with Belos, those days are over!" Gus exclaimed with a wide smile.

"Seriously," Vee softly said. "If anyone deserves a thunderstorm of gifts, it's you, Luz."

Gus, Vee, and Willow had a point. Before Luz moved to Bonesborough, everyone's lives were going nowhere. Willow and Gus were being bullied by her and her old friend group, Vee was basically a slave in the Belos mansion, and Hunter was, in Luz's words, a "Bad but Sad Boy."

Luz had changed all of their lives.

"They're right," Amity softly admitted as she held Luz closer. "Accept the gratitude, Noceda…."

Luz made a soft sound of protest before she nodded. And Amity didn't have to see her face to know that her friend was deeply flustered.

"Hey, Mittens!" Emira called out. Amity peeked over Luz's shoulder to see Edric and Emira waving her over.

"I wonder what they want?" Amity muttered with a grimace.

"You should get over there, Amity," Hunter said. "If you don't, you know what Edric wi—"

"AMITY! AMITY BLIGHT! PLEASE REPORT TO YOUR SIBLINGS THIS INSTANT!" Edric shouted.

Amity groaned and shouted, "DO I HAVE TO?!"

"NOW!" Emira yelled back.

Luz laughed and to Amity's dismay, the shorter girl slid off of her lap and said, "Hunt's right. You better get over there."

Amity stood from her seat and said, "Keep my spot warm, okay?"

Luz gave Amity her beaming smile that never failed to cause butterflies to flutter about in her stomach. "Yes ma'am," Luz happily replied with a crisp salute. Amity noticed that Luz's dark purple overshirt was sliding off her shoulder, leaving her left shoulder bare.

Without thinking, Amity reached out, slipped the overshirt back into place, and said, "I'll hold you to that."

Before she could hear Luz's reply, Amity marched across the bar, ignoring the amused stares of some of the patrons, and stopped in front of her siblings and Viney. "What is it?" Amity asked. "Can't you both see that I was hanging out with my friends?"

"Oh, we saw, Mittens. We saw," Edric confirmed. "We also saw that Luz made herself very comfy on your lap, too."

Amity flushed and stammered, "T-There wasn't any seats on our side of the booth and Luz is still having some slight trouble standing so I o-offered my lap. I didn't want her to strain herself. That's all."

"You offered another girl your lap to sit in?" Emira asked while Viney snorted behind her. "Because there was no room? Why not pull up another chair?"

Amity blinked.

She sincerely didn't think about that.

"And even if you offered her your lap, your hand was mighty comfy on her bare stomach," Edric noted. "And what about when we got here? Your hand was on her lower back."

"I was helping her keep steady," Amity defended.

"And what about yesterday?" Viney spoke up.

Amity groaned.

Of course, Viney would bring that up. Viney had come over to her mansion and happened to see Amity on the couch with Luz's feet on her lap, with Amity massaging her left shoulder. "Her left ankle was hurting. That was the ankle that Belos broke. I had to give it a massage to soothe the wound," Amiry defended.

"And did you need to pull her overshirt back over her shoulder?" Edric questioned.

"It's freezing in here and she gets cold easily," Amity weakly replied.

"And what about—"

"Look," Emira interrupted Edric before he could bring up another example. "We didn't call you over to interrogate you—"

"—Much—" Edric interjected.

"—Much," Emira corrected. "But we came over to….propose a challenge."

Amity blinked.

"A challenge?" Amity asked.

"Yeah. A pretty simple one, I think," Emira confirmed. "Twenty-four hours, Mitten," Emira challenged. "For twenty-four hours, you can't touch Luz. Not for any reason."

"Every time you do, that's twenty bucks you owe us," Edric said. "And for every hour you succeed in keeping those mittens to yourself, we'll pay you fifty bucks."

Amity wanted to laugh.

"That's twelve-hundred dollars that you both want to just give me?" Amity asked.

"Give you?" Edric chuckled. "You think you're going to win this that easily?"

"Of course," Amity answered. The money really didn't matter to them. They were loaded thanks to their parents' business but still, that was a pretty chunk of change. If she could win that, she would be able to gift something special to Luz for her birthday tomorrow.

She even had the perfect item in mind.

"Twenty-four hours, Mittens," Emira challenged. "No touching Luz at all. And each time you fail, that's twenty bucks. And for every hour you resist, that's fifty bucks."

Amity didn't even have to think twice about this bet. "Challenge accepted," Amity calmly accepted.

Chapter 2: The Bet (Part One)

"You want us to carry around a jar to take money from Amity every time she touches Luz?" Willow asked with disbelief in her voice.

Edric and Emira nodded in unison. "Is it so surprising that it's come to this?" Edric smoothly asked the members of the Hexsquad, sans Luz and Amity, at 1:35 A.M of December 23rd, aka, Luz's birthday in front of Blight Manor.

"Admittedly?" Gus questioned. "Not even remotely. Matter of fact, Hunter?"

Gus held out his left hand without staring at Hunter.

Hunter groaned as he dug into his pockets and slapped a twenty-dollar bill in Gus' hand. "Pleasure doing business with you, partner," Gus smirked while he slipped the bill into his pocket.

"And what was that?" Edric asked as he moved his right hand from Gus to Hunter.

"I bet that with how much Amity has been crushing on Luz, one of you two would get fed up by it by December," Gus answered, his eyes glittering in delight. "Now, to take Celine out to the movies tomorrow."

Vee giggled at her boyfriend's annoyed expression and kissed his cheek. "He gets so smug when he's right," Hunter grumbled but he couldn't help but smile at Vee's kiss.

"I know you don't," Vee agreed.

"Back to the conversation at hand," Willow interjected with a small frown. "I'm not surprised by you two wanting to butt into Amity's love life. But did you have to put money on the line? You know how Amity gets about competition."

"That's true," Emira said.

"But Willow, this is Luz," Vee defended. "Didn't Amity also purposely lose a playoff hockey game because she heard Luz had been in a fight? A game she had been nervous about for two weeks to the point of nervous vomiting."

Willow grinned at the memory and said, "Boscha was so mad at her. She couldn't stop ranting to Skara and I after they lost that game."

"I still can't believe you three are together," Emira commented. "The way Boscha bullied you was rough….Then again, that's what happens when someone takes a bullet for you."

"Hey, let's not bring that up," Willow urged with a frown. "That day is not something I want to remember….Luz and Boscha nearly died from that incident."

While Gus looked upset, Vee and Hunter looked confused. "Wait, Luz got shot before the last time? Luz and Boscha both?" Hunter asked.

"It was during the whole—We can talk about that later," Willow told them before she turned her attention back to Edric and Emira. "The point is, don't you think this could backfire?"

"Not at all," Emira confidently answered. "So, you guys in? You all get a cut of the profits?"

"We're in," The group immediately answered.

Edric and Emira smirked. "Alright, we got a team. Now let's get back to the mansion so we can watch them before they wake up," Emira told them.

Let the games begin.

Amity could feel warm breath hitting the base of her neck when she slowly stirred to life. Without opening her eyes, she smiled and pulled the sleeping Noceda to her chest. Amity didn't know when Luz had drunkenly climbed onto the bed with her, but it seemed her body knew because her arms were wrapped around Luz's shorter frame.

She opened her eyes and stared down at Luz's face and marveled at how the sunbeams from the window above her bed softened Luz's already soft features. Without thinking, she closed her eyes and pecked Luz's forehead.

"Ahem," Emira's voice cut in.

Amity's eyes flew open to see an empty jar with a sticky note that had "Touch Jar" written on it. "That's forty bucks," Emira announced in a whisper as she shook the jar. "You're holding her and you just kissed her forehead."

Amity looked confused for a moment before realization appeared on her face.

The bet.

Damn it.

She had completely forgotten about that. "But she came into my be—" Amity started but Emira shook her head.

"Yeah, but you're still touching her. Forty bucks. Twenty for hold and kissing forehead. Pay up, Mittens."

Amity narrowed her eyes and motioned to her desk. "My wallet is on it. But trust. That is the only time you'll be getting money from me."

8:25 AM

"Wow, you guys made me breakfast?" Luz asked with a touched expression on her face, her hazel brown eyes glittering with joy as she stared at her group of friends.

"Of course, we did, Birthday Girl," Gus replied. "We got Mangú Tres Golpes, coffee with all the sugar we can add along with Irish and hazelnut crème and even Dominican Arepa."

"Camila gave us the recipe last week before she, Eda, and Raine left town," Vee explained. "I made the Mangú Tres Golpes with Willow, Gus made the coffee, and Hunter and Amity made the Arepa."

Hunter and Amity smiled as Luz sniffled as her eyes watered.

"Oh, I really do have the greatest friends and sister ever," Luz gushed as she limped over to the table using the forearm crutch on her left arm to keep her balanced. Seeing her coming, Amity quickly got off her chair and pulled an open seat back for Luz to sit in.

"Here," Amity said with a smile to Luz, who flushed in response at the action.

"Thank you, Amity," Luz replied as Amity offered her hand. Luz placed her hand in Amity's, allowing the taller girl to help her into the seat. "It'll be such a dream when I can stop using this thing," Luz grumbled.

"I know you don't like it, Luz, but Belos shot you in the hip," Amity said as she placed a hand on Luz's forearm. "Give it time, I'm sure it'll heal. And until it does, I'll be there every step of the way." Amity squeezed Luz's forearm, not aware that Edric and Emira exchanged a look before Edric walked around the table and past her, and said, "Now enjoy your breakfast, Luz. We have a big day today."

Luz nodded with a smile and turned away to drool over the delicious-smelling food but then blinked. "Oh! Amity, do you mind grabbing my Lactaid pills? I need to take it before I dig into this fried egg and cheese."

Amity nodded and walked toward the exit of the door, only for Edric to jingle the touch jar with a grin. Amity paused at the sight of it and hissed, "Hold on, she needed help getting into the chair."

"Oh, that's not for being a gentleman. No, the forearm squeeze," Edric whispered. "You thought I wouldn't see it. But I did."

Amity growled, dug into her pocket to pull out a twenty-dollar bill, and tossed it into the jar. "Okay, this will be the last time I put money in here."

9:50 AM

"Amity, you did not!" Luz gasped out.

Amity flushed as she scratched her cheek.

Amity, Luz, and Willow stood in front of the Bonesborough Movie Theater, which had a sign that read, "Now Showing: The Good Witch from Mercury. Only showing for Luz Noceda."

Willow was on the phone conversing with Skara regarding something while the others were already inside the movie theater.

"You rented out the whole movie theater on the release day of The Good Witch from Mercury?" Luz asked her. "How did you even do that?"

"My mother may be in prison, but us Blights still have a lot of sway," Amity explained with a haughty tone. "Besides, this is child's play to what we have pla—"

Amity was interrupted by Luz wrapping her right arm around her in a tight hug, which made Amity blush hard. "I never had anyone do that for me before…." Luz whispered against her neck. Amity closed her eyes and savored the hug for a moment and then pulled away.

"You're worth doing that for, Luz," Amity told her as she reached up to rub her thumb against Luz's left cheek, wiping away the tear that fell from Luz's eye, unaware that Willow had seen this. "Happy tear?"

"Happy tear," Luz confirmed with a wide smile.

"Come on, Let's get inside, Don't want to miss those trailers," Amity said as she walked to the door and opened it. Luz hobbled into the door, with Amity placing a hand on the small of Luz's back to lead her inside.

Amity was about to follow inside when Willow walked up beside her and held out her hand. "That's forty in the jar," Willow announced.

"What? They got you in on this?!" Amity exclaimed.

"Of course they did," Willow said. "However, I am willing to knock twenty off for wiping away Luz's tear if you give it to me."

Amity sighed and handed Willow the forty. "Take the other one. I don't need the jar to have one hundred of my dollars in there," Amity surrendered.

"Understandable," Willow chuckled. "And to think, it's only nine in the morning."

"Almost ten," Amity weakly defended as the two entered the theaters.

The Good Witch from Mercury was in the middle of a tense scene of Azura Mercury standing in front of Hecate Rembran with her right hand held out to her. Luz watched, enraptured, as Hecate reached out and connected their hands.

She sniffled as she dipped a nacho chip into the nacho cheese and popped it into her mouth. Getting a little nacho cheese in the corner of her mouth. Seeing this, Amity reached over and whispered, "You got a little something here," and wiped the cheese off with her thumb.

"Gracias," Luz murmured with a small blush.

She could have done it herself and was about to get a napkin, but Amity always seemed to get to her messes before she could clean them. Luz turned back to the movie, unaware of Gus, who sat next to Amity, holding out his hand.

11:30 AM

"I can't believe they got married!" Luz cheered as the movie ended."After all these years, those cowards in Hollywood finally bowed to Mildred Featherwhyle's whim."

"Personally, I would have liked a kiss, but knowing they are married is well enough for me," Amity commented as she stood up and held a hand out to Luz. "I wonder if they'll have any children."

"Like adopt or by magic?" Luz asked as she took the hand, allowing Amity to lift her out of the seat.

"Either or, really," Amity answered as she carefully helped Luz out of the aisles and to the stairs. Without thinking, she hook her left arm around Luz's right and helped lead Luz to the exit of the room. "I bet when the book picks up where the movie left off, Azura is going to be pregnant."

"Oh really?" Luz asked.

Amity nodded as Vee and Hunter slowly came up to her right with matching grins. "Hecate once told Azura that she had a life plan. Get married by twenty-five and have a child by thirty. And Azura loves children and even had a few dreams of her being pregnant."

"Dreams or visions?" Luz asked with a coy smile.

"I bet it's a little from column 'A' and a little from column 'B.'" Amity answered as the group made it outside to the long hallway.

"Oh, I have to go to the bathroom, brb," Luz announced as she untangled her arm from Amity's and limped to the bathroom.

Vee walked up to Amity's left while Hunter strolled up to Amity's right and without any word spared, the couple held their hands out to Amity.

And without any words, she placed a twenty in both of their hands.

The two walked ahead while Emira walked up to Amity and slung an arm around her shoulders. "So, how much have you lost so far?" Emira asked.

"One hundred and forty dollars," Amity answered with a growl.

It's possible that Amity may have overestimated her self-control or underestimated Luz's touchability.

Or both.

"And it's not even Noon yet. I don't know how you're going to handle tonight," Emira commented as she slowly shook her head. "I don't know why you won't just give it up already. All you have to do is tell her how you fe—"

"No," Amity immediately interrupted. "I'm not going to risk our friendship, Em. No matter how sure you are that she feels the same, I can't hinge my hopes on that…."

"Welp. I tried," Emira shrugged as she patted Amity's shoulder. "The bet is still on though. Let's see if you can reign yourself in."

Emira walked off while Amity glowered at her back.

Chapter 3: The Bet (Finale)

"This birfday—"

"—Birthday—"

"—Birfday has been the best," Luz smiled as she popped a piece of orange chicken in her mouth. The Hexsquad decided to stop off at the Bonesboroguh Mall to grab some food from the food court before they continued showering Luz with appreciation. "And it's barely even started."

Gus looked around and asked, "Has anyone seen Willow?"

"I thought she was talking to Skara over by the Chicken Express," Luz answered.

Amity looked over by the Chicken Express and found that both Skara, who worked there, and Willow were gone.

Where did they go?

Skara's back hit the wall as her legs wrapped around Willow's hips, Willow's lips on top of hers as they engaged in a rather heated kiss. Willow had to admit it. But seeing Amity bumbling around with her adorable crush on Luz had awoken a craving in Willow that she had to fix.

Starting with her first girlfriend.

"How long do you have before y-you have to go back?" Skara moaned against Willow's lips, her face flushed.

"Five minutes," Willow breathily replied as her lips found Skara's neck, making the girl shiver. "Gives me enough time…."

Hopefully, she did miss anything while engaging in one of her favorite hobbies.

"I'm sure they'll be back," Amity shrugged as she twirled her noodles with a fork and placed the food in her mouth. Just what she needed. Lo Mein….

"I'm back with some Yakisoba Pan," Hunter happily announced as he sat down in between Vee and Gus.

"What is that?" Vee asked as she stared at the concoction.

"Concoction? Oh no, Vee, this is….Yakisoba Pan," Hunter introduced with stars in his eyes. "Yakisoba noodles with diced chicken and pork, Yakisoba sauce, which adds spice and sweetness, and within a hot dog bun. It's a gift from the Gods themselves." Hunter's eyes widened in remembrance. "Before I forget," he lifted the bag of food and said, "I also got your Dango and Gus' ramen and Willow's Dakgangjeong (Sweet Crispy Korean Fried Chicken)…Where is Willow anyway?"

Gus and Vee shrugged as the two reached into the bag and pulled out their respective foods."Ah, smell that? That is the smell of Beef Uzumaki Ramen. The best ramen of all the Bonesborough."

"I'm more partial to the Urameshi Ramen," Vee said. "But Uzmaki Ramen's dango is certainly a treat," Vee munched on the first colored ball of her first stick of dango. "So good…."

Hunter rolled his eyes with a smile and said, "Amity, when I went to KSF to grab Willow's Dakgangjeong, I also grabbed your Ddakkochi (Korean Chicken Skewers) and your Kkwabaegi (Twisted Korean Doughnuts)."

"Thank you," Amity replied as she grabbed her carton and placed it beside Luz's good, which was a carton of Chicken teriyaki with fried rice with a small carton of orange chicken.

Luz eyed one of her chicken skewers and asked, "Mind if I have a little bit of the chicken from your Ddakkochi?" Luz then blinked and said, "Such a tongue twister. Ddakkochi."

With a grin, Amity eyed the amount of chicken in front of Luz and asked, "Don't you think you have enough chicken, Luz?"

"I do. But I wanted to compare my own chicken with your chicken, since you often said it tastes sweet. In return, I'll give you some of my orange chikky."

"Did she really say "Chikky" instead of "Chicken?" Please tell me she didn't," Hunter grumbled while Vee and Gus snickered.

"You can even go first," Luz said as she plucked a nice-sized piece of chicken from her little container and held it out to Amity. "Say "Ah!" Please."

Amity looked at the expectant look on Luz's face and let out a soft, but pleasant sigh. "How can I say no to you?" Amity asked. She opened her mouth with a tiny, "Ah."

Luz popped the chicken into her mouth and pulled it back just as Amity closed her mouth, her lips barely grazing Luz's fingertips.

"That one was just blatant," Vee grumbled.

Amity chewed on the food and said, "Sweet. But no spice. Reminds me of you, Luz."

"Well, I do try," Luz chirped. "Your turn. Ah!"

Luz opened her mouth as Amity reached over and pulled a piece of chicken off of one of her skewers and held it up.

"Good girl," Amity replied as she popped the chicken into Luz's mouth but for a split second, Amity could have sworn Luz blushed. Amity moved her hand but Luz's lips closed, inadvertently kissing Amity's index fingertip, causing Amity's ears to burn.

"Yep, completely blatant," Hunter agreed.

Amity could hear Vee and Hunter grumble and when Luz wasn't looking, she handed Vee, who sat to her left, forty dollars.

She knew she was busted.

Willow approached the table, combing her hair into place as she calmly announced, "What did I miss?"

Vee and Hunter motioned to Amity, who decided now to eat in silence alongside Luz.

Luz limped out of the bathroom at the mall with a pleased smile on her face. After the rough few months that she had, everything seemed to be lining up perfectly. Hunter and Vee were finally together, Vee was officially her sister, Gus, and Celine had finally admitted their feelings, Willow, Skara, and Boscha were going strong, Masha had bit the bullet and flown out to California to reunite with her three girlfriends, and Boscha and Luz forged a tight friendship after the torture they endured at Belos' hands.

But the biggest light Luz had in her life was Amity….

Amity had become her lifeline while she had been recovering. Luz didn't know where she would be without her.

She was such a great frie—

Luz was interrupted from her thoughts when a hard shove from behind sent her crashing to the ground.

"Ow! What the hell?" Luz groaned in pain as she struggled to turn around.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Nerd-ceda!" A voice exclaimed.

Luz sighed and slowly turned around to see her arch-nemesis, the blonde and pink-haired girl, Victoria Rockwaller, Amity's ex-girlfriend, standing with her group of friends, all of them wearing their Bonesborough Banshee cheerleader uniform.

"Victoria," Luz greeted as her hip burned in pain. "Can you not be a jerk today?"

"Sorry, Luzer, but we're alright ten minutes late past due for our scheduled meeting," Bria, Victoria's new girlfriend, announced. "I gotta say though, that crutch matches the general aesthetic you've had since we were fifteen. Slow and lame."

Luz's face burned as Victoria, Bria, and their group of hyenas cackled. There was a point in time when Luz would have stood up and fought the girls, but thanks to the bullet Belos put in her hip, it left her unable to fight.

"The only reason you're doing this now is because I can't beat the hell out of all of you," Luz commented with heat in her voice.

"Best time to do it, Nerd-ceda," Victoria hissed as she walked over to Luz and stomped on her wounded hip, causing Luz to scream in alarm and agony. "All these years, you walked around like you were a badass and I'll admit, you played your role well. But Belos shattered that air of invertibility you had. Now, you're back down here with the rest of us. Mortal."

Victoria added pressure to her foot, causing Luz to writhe beneath her as the dual-haired girl bent down and hissed, "I promised that I would make you pay for taking my girlfriend away from me…And today is that day."

Luz barred her teeth and tightened the handle on her crutch, getting ready to swing it at Victoria, only for Amity, from out of nowhere, sailed over Luz and land a flying kick at Victoria's face, sending the cheerleader flying back into her group of stooges.

"Amity?" Luz said, alarmed as Amity stood at her feet.

She hadn't even heard her.

"Well, look who it is," Victoria taunted through gritted teeth as Amity stood in front of her, and while Luz couldn't see her face, Amity's body language told Luz that she was pissed. "Nerd-ceda's lavender guard dog."

"Victoria," Amity coldly greeted. "You've gone too far."

"Not far enough," Victoria replied as her friends helped her to her feet.

"Amity, what are you doing here?" Luz asked.

"I was going to go to the restroom when I saw them push you," Amity replied, keeping her eyes on Victoria and her crew. She took her eyes off for a second and looked back at Luz. "Are you alright?"

"I'll be fine," Luz said, not wanting to worry her friend.

"Good," Amity said as she turned her attention back to her ex and her friends. "Just sit there and watch the show because I'm about to teach them to never touch what's mine again."

Luz blinked and felt her heart race at Amity's comment.

"We'd like to see you try!" Bria yelled.

A dark grin formed on Amity's face.

"Wow," Willow breathed as the ambulance finally loaded up the last member of the Hexside Banshee cheerleaders into it. "Yeesh Amity, I know they deserved it for hurting Luz, but you kind of went too far."

"I don't care," Amity responded. "No one touches my Luz and gets away with it. Especially while she's still hurt."

Willow slowly turned her head and asked, "Your Luz?"

Amity flushed and looked down. "How much?" She asked.

"Considering you didn't touch her but acted all possessive over her? Twenty," Willow announced as she held out the jar.

Amity slipped the bill into the jar and said, "Let's head over to Luz's. She said she was fine, but I doubt she was being honest and I want her to rest a bit before the party."

Willow nodded.

Amity was proud of herself.

She had avoided touching Luz for two whole hours. Well, technically, one hour and eight minutes, but who was counting? She had managed to resist the urge after blatantly failing during lunch. The group was at Luz's place now, With Amity and Vee hanging out in Luz's room while Luz herself was showering.

"Wow, you actually lasted a little over an hour this time. Color me impressed," Vee commented as she lay on Luz's bed, tossing a baseball up into the air and then catching it.

"I do have some self-control," Amity noted as she sat in Luz's bean bag chair.

Vee hummed and sat up from Luz's bed. "Can I ask you a personal question?" Vee asked.

"Wow, you haven't asked that since we were fifteen," Amity said. "Ask away."

"You've spent one hundred and eighty dollars since you woke up this morning," Vee started. "All because you can't stop touching Luz. Why not just tell her that you like her?"

"I can't," Amity replied. "I just….I don't know…"

"I think you do know, " Vee replied. "Are you afraid that Luz will not like you? Because I can tell you, you would have nothing to worry about. Luz doesn't let people pamper or help her at all. She doesn't even like people touching her outside of Mamá, Rain, Eda, and us. And even then, she can only handle so much. She lets you touch her a lot, Amity…"

"That could mean anything," Amity brushed off. "Even if she doesn't like people touching her, she's always super friendly."

"That's true but my question is, why is she extra friendly to you?" Vee asked.

Amity opened her mouth to respond but Vee held up her hand. "Nope. You think on that one for a bit."

"Hey, Amity?" Luz called out from the bathroom. "Do you mind coming in here, please? I need a little help!"

"Sure!" Amity called back.

"And with that, I'm going to head downstairs," Vee announced as got off the bed and made her way to the door. "At least think about what I said," Vee said before she walked out of the room.

Amity got up from the beanbag chair and made her way to the bathroom.

She placed her hand on the doorknob, opened the door, and quickly moved into the bathroom before she shut the door behind her. "So, Luz, how can I—" Amity's voice gave out as she turned around to face Luz and realized two things.

One, Luz was holding her wounded hip while sitting in the tub.

And two, she was only in a lavender bath towel.

Amity felt her whole face turn scarlet but at the discomfort on Luz's face, her blush immediately faded. "Are you alright?" Amity asked as she rushed to Luz's side.

"I couldn't get up," Luz murmured with an embarrassed blush on her face.

"Hold on, I'll help you," Amity announced."And scoop!" Luz shrieked in surprise and immediately wrapped her arms around Amity's neck as Amity held her in her arms.

"That startled me," Luz admitted with a shaky breath. "I-I forgot how strong you could be."

Luz paused and then gave Amity an amused look. "Oh, is this payback for that hockey game?"

Amity blinked and flushed as she remembered a fifteen-year-old Luz scooping her off the ice after she had broken her leg with an ease she shouldn't have had.

"And scoop!"

"Maybe," Amity slyly replied.

Truthfully, she hadn't thought that at all.

But no sense in letting Luz know that, right?

"And here I thought you were going soft on me, Blight," Luz teased as Amity carried her to the door.

"Meanwhile, you have gotten soft on me Noceda," Amity commented, trying hard to not think about Luz's soft body in her arms.

Or how her hair clung to her face due to the wetness, giving Luz a look that made Amity's knees weak.

Or the intoxicating pina-colada scent that covered her barely-covered body. Oh how she wanted to bathe in her scent…

Luz hummed and tucked her head beneath Amity's chin and murmured, "You make it easy for me to be this way, I guess…"

Amity's gaze softened as she used her right foot to open the bathroom door and carried Luz to her bed.

She sat Luz down on the bed and patted Luz's leg as she murmured, "I'll go get you some pain medication from the medicine cabinet in the all for your hip, okay?"

Luz stared at her for a moment and then nodded.

Amity turned and was about to walk away when Luz grabbed her wrist, stopping her in her tracks. "Amity?" Luz whispered.

Amity turned to face her friend, only to feel Luz's arms around her neck in a hug. "Thank you….For saving me," Luz whispered.

Amity tried to say anything, but all she could feel was the softness of Luz's curves melding against her body.

All she could feel was Luz's face against the crook of her neck. It left Amity unable to do anything but move her arms around her and hold her as tight as possible, achingly aware of the towel that separated her body from Luz's naked one.

Slowly, Amity forced herself from Luz, their faces just inches apart. And it was here that Amity understood what Vee was talking about. Luz's eyes couldn't hide the naked desire and it made Amity's quiver with need.

"You don't have to thank me for that," Amity replied, her voice flickering with ravenous hunger as the grip on Luz's hips tightened.

But she quickly became aware of the door opening and Gus' voice. "Hey, Willow wanted me ot check o—Whoa, I'll come back later," Gus announced as Amity broke away from Luz.

"Y-You should get dressed," Amity stammered.

"R-Right," Luz murmured.

Was that…disappointment in Luz's eyes?

"Well, I-I'll leave you to it," Amity hastily declared and then walked out of the room, where she saw the touch jar, unguarded with a hastily scribbled note that had "Sixty bucks for ALL of that" written on it.

For a moment, she wanted to just walk past it, but she was an honorable person, and the fact Gus had seen it, she decided she would do what was right.

Sixty Dollars entered the jar.

But as Amity walked away, the door cracked and brown eyes peered at the jar in confusion.

After seeing the jar of money, Luz decided to be observant for the next few hours and after using her special eyes, she realized, with surprise, that the jar was because of her.

Well, she concluded that it wasn't just for her. She was the catalyst for the jar but Amity had to be the reason why the jar existed.

From 3:28 to 7:30, Luz watched as every time Amity touched her, one of her friends would approach her with the jar, and depending on the severity of the touch, Amity would pay a various amount of money.

4: 25 PM. – Amity touched the curve of her back as they got into Hunter's truck = twenty bucks.

5: 07 P.M. – Amity held her hand as she led her to the Bonesborough National Park for their entire trek = forty bucks

6:17 P.M. – Luz accidentally twisted her ankle, which prompted Amity to carry her around in her arms bridal style every time Luz needed to go somewhere = sixty bucks.

But all Luz wanted to know, as Amity lead her to her house was why? Why did Amity fork over so much money for touching her? Luz wanted to understand but she didn't want to ask because admittedly….she liked when Amity touched her.

She came to that startling realization after their near kiss in her bedroom earlier in the day. For that split moment, she wanted Amity's small and dainty hands to move over her bare body. She ached for it. And that realization also led to another more crucial one.

One she didn't realize she had until she thought about it.

From the moment they met, Luz had been drawn to Amity. It was that weird draw that led to Luz saving Amity's life when Belos' hitman tried to carry out her contract.

It was that weird draw that had Luz fighting after various people in keeping Amity safe while the two became friends.

And it was that draw that led her to save the town.

Somehow, someway, Luz had fallen deeply and irrevocably in love with Amity Blight. And that thought had kept with Luz, even while they sat in Amity's mansion, celebrating her birthday, with all of her friends, Sans Masha and the California trio.

"Yo! Noceda, you in there?" Boscha asked as she snapped her fingers in front of Luz's face.

"Huh? What?" Luz asked as she focused on Boscha.

"I've been talking to you for like five minutes," Boscha informed with a frown on her face. "What's up with the money jar?"

"Money jar?" Luz asked, her eyes focus on Amity, who was speaking to Willow and Skara with a pout on her face.

"Yeah, Noceda, the money jar. Skara and I noticed that every time Blight touched you, Willow would collect money from her. What is that about?" Boscha asked. "I asked Willow, but she only kissed me on the forehead and told me not to worry about it."

Luz grinned and said, "That is so cute."

"That's not cute," Boscha grumbled with a blush. "She's been really affectionate today. I nearly ran late because she couldn't stop making out with me."

"And you're complaining?" Luz slyly asked.

"No. There was a time I didn't think she would want to be with me. She and Skara both," Boscha sighed as she slumped her left shoulder.

Boscha's right shoulder and her arm were in a cast due to Belos shooting her in both places, with the bullets shattering bones in her shoulder and forearm. "I couldn't get enough of it…But that's beside the point. The money jar. What is it about?"

"I don't know," Luz admitted. "I know as much as you do. Every time Amity touches me, they shake that jar and she puts money in it."

Boscha narrowed her eyes in thought. "That's a lot of money in there…She really must like you if she touches you that much to fill that thing…." Boscha commented as she rubbed the bottom of her chin.

Luz blinked and looked at Boscha. "You think so?" Luz asked.

"Duh!" Boscha exclaimed. "That thing is bursting with money! I may not have the full picture but I do know that Blight is pretty stingy with money. Did you know last year, Coach implemented a swear jar?"

"She did?" Luz asked.

Boscha nodded and explained, "Amity cursed like a sailor and loved it. She cursed more than I did, and you know how fucked that statement is because I love cursing. The second Coach told her to pay a dollar for every curse she let out, she never cursed again. At least not at school."

Boscha looked at Luz and concluded, "So if her stingy ass is willing to put money in a jar because she can't help but touch you, what does that tell you?"

Luz realized what Boscha was trying to say and nodded in agreement. "And truthfully, I find it pretty pathetic that she's paying to touch you instead of just admitting that she likes you," Boscha commented. "Then again, Amity's never been the one to act on her feelings."

"I know," Luz murmured. "Which means I may be the one to act on it."

"Godspeed, Noceda, godspeed," Boscha said as Luz lurched forward from Boscha clapping her on the shoulder. "If you need me, I'm taking Willow to the backyard. Keep everyone inside so I can go mack on her."

"Gross," Luz laughed. Luz then glanced at the Money Jar with a grin, a plan already forming in her head. "Before you go over there, can you grab the money jar and take it to Amity's room?"

"You owe me," Boscha replied but Luz watched as the taller girl snatched the jar from the dining room table and stealthily went upstairs.

After a few minutes, Boscha walked back downstairs and gave her a nod. Luz smiled and mouthed, "Thanks."

Boscha winked and then walked toward Willow, grabbed a handful of the girl's ass, and motioned for Willow to follow her. Willow socked Boscha in the left arm and then dragged her away, potentially to the backyard.

But not after both Boscha and Willow kissed a blushing Skara on each cheek.

Once Boscha was gone, Luz hobbled her way to Amity and whispered into her ear, "I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Mind helping me upstairs?"

"Sure," Amity replied with a smile.

Amity was confused.

Oh so confused.

She helped Luz upstairs to her room but the minute they got there, Luz asked for Amity to wait outside her own room while Luz went inside to do who knows what.

She had been waiting for ten minutes, and Amity was growing concerned.

"Hey, Amity," Luz called out from behind the door. "Can you come in? I need you!"

"Coming!" Amity called back as she entered her bedroom, only to find that it was completely dark. Through the dark, she could see a silhouette standing in front of her bed. "Luz? What's going on?" Amity asked as she reached for the light switch.

"Don't turn that on," Luz softly instructed.

Amity blinked and closed the door behind her, blanketing her in darkness. "I want to tell you something," Luz said. "I want to thank you. Not just for the great day today, but for all you've done since the whole Belos saga."

"You don't have to thank me, Luz," Amity sincerely told her. "You did so much to protect me from Belos. All of this is the least I could do to even start making it up to you."

Luz was silent for a moment but Amity could hear Luz tapping on something. "If I ask you to be honest with me, would you?" Luz asked.

"Of course, I would," Amity answered. "We promised each other after our big fight after you saved me…."

Luz went silent again but Amity felt something roll against her feet. Thanks to the light from the cracked door, Amity could see that it was the Touch Jar. "What is the jar about?" Luz asked.

Amity stared at the jar as her heart quickened. "Luz, you have to believe me. It wasn't my idea. It was Em and Ed's idea," Amity hastily explained. "They made a bet that if I didn't touch you, I would win twelve hundred dollars. I don't know why they wanted this bet but I accepted because I didn't think it would be so hard to not touch you."

"Looks like it was really hard," Luz giggled. "Why was it so hard?"

Amity took a deep breath and opened her mouth to answer, only for Luz to say, "And remember. Be honest with me. Please."

Amity could hear the soft, almost vulnerability in Luz's voice, something she had only heard once before. "I'm scared," Amity admitted. "If I tell you why, you may…turn me away."

Amity could see Luz's dark silhouette walk toward her until she could see Luz's face. Luz grabbed her hands and moved them to her hips, and it was then Amity realized something. Luz's hips were naked. "Boscha told me something interesting. She told me about the swear jar your coach tried to push on you."

Amity was suffering from some severe confusion.

"She told me that you are pretty stingy with your money. Truthfully, I haven't seen that but Boscha never pegged me as a liar or embellisher. Not since our friendship started at least," Luz explained. "But when he did that, you never cursed at school again. Is that true?"

Amity glowered at the thought of Boscha. "It's true," Amity replied.

"You refused to curse at school and yet, you paid so much money because you can't help touching me," Luz softly continued. Amity felt Luz's bare arms fall around her shoulders and Luz's bare chest pressing against her own. "And why is that, Amity?" Luz whispered.

Amity could feel Luz's breath against her lips as she licked her lips. "I-I've been in love with you since the day you saved my life…."

She felt Luz's body heat up against her palms, letting Amity know the girl was blushing. "Well, looks like we have something in common then," Luz whispered as Amity let out a sharp gasp.

"Y-You…" Amity couldn't even get the rest of her sentence out.

"I do….I realized it after what happened in my room…." Luz divulged. "For the rest of the night, you don't need to worry about paying anything more. So touch me to your heart's content."

Amity did not have to be told twice.

Two Years Later…

Somehow, someway, Eda Clawthorne figured out how to marry both Camila Noceda and Raine Whispers.

It involved a lot of paperwork and blackmail on Eda's end, which included the president of the united states, but in the end, in the eyes of the law, Camila and Raine were now Camila Noceda-Whispers-Clawthorne and Raine Whispers-Noceda-Clawthorne.

"I still can't believe she pulled it off," Willow noted with a small sigh as she stood in between her partner and best friend, Skara, and Luz, respectively. "I should have never, ever doubted that woman."

"Your fault that you did," Luz replied. "Hey, where is Boscha anyways?"

"She's been talking Eda's ear off over there," Skara answered as she motioned to where Boscha sat. Luz couldn't help but smirk.

She knew exactly what Boscha was over there trying to get. Hopefully, she was able to pull it off. After the chaos two years ago, they all deserved any sort of happiness they could grab in this short life. "Speaking of missing friends, I hope Gus, Celine, Edric, Jerbo, Viney, and Emira are able to make it," Willow said.

"I hope so too," Luz said as she gripped the small box in her suit pants pocket. "I don't want him to miss it…"

"I reached out to Emira. They are literally five minutes away. They should be here right when you do it," Willow told her.

Luz let out a small breath. "Okay…." She said.

"So, you're really going through with it?" Skara asked.

Luz nodded with a fond smile on her face.

After Luz's bold actions on the night of her birthday party two years ago, everything fell into place for her.

Things weren't easy, of course.

During the court case of Philip Belos Wittebane, the corrupt man managed to escape custody and kidnap King, CL, the newborn baby of Viney and Emira and Celine, who was watching over the kids, which nearly took Luz's, Eda's, Boscha's, Edric, Gus', and Hunter's lives when they went to rescue him.

And to make matters worse, Luz and Gus actually did die for a few minutes, which started another year of intense therapy. But like before, she managed to walk out of it alive, but with a new perspective on life.

Boscha walked over with a grin and stood to Luz's left. "Eda said it's time," Boscha told Luz. "You ready for this, Partner?"

"More than anything," Luz breathed as she stared across the room at Amity, who was speaking to the recently married Hunter and Vee Deamonne, who had come back from their honeymoon just two days ago before the wedding, and her aunt, Lilith Clawthorne.

"Then get to it, girl," Skara encouraged.

Boscha patted Luz on the right shoulder while Willow kissed Luz on the cheek and whispered, "Go set the final scene. I'll go tell King to set the song…."

Luz grinned and walked ahead.

A fourteen-year-old boy with brown skin, bright pink irises, and short white hair stood behind the DJ table. The young boy had vitiligo, which made a peculiar skull shape in the middle of his face.

Like everyone else at the wedding, he wore a black suit with a maroon silk tie.

"Man, all I've been playing is slow songs all night, CL," King complained to the teen by his side.

His fourteen-year-old best friend had tan-yellow skin, bushy white hair that stretched to the middle of their back and bushy eyebrows, an upward-pointing nose, reddish-brown eyes. Like King, the teen had vitiligo, which manifested as a large pale white blotch that eclipses the left side of their face, giving the right side the appearance of a crescent moon shape.

And they wore a button-down black shirt with a maroon bow tie and a black dress.

"You complain too much, Clawthorne," CL teased as they poked King's face, causing the teen to grunt, but not without a faint blush. "You know deep down you're happy with doing this. Especially since all of your parents are officially married. Like a big old family! But enough about that, you promised me a dance. When will that happen?"

"As soon as Luz hurries her slow butt in getting Amity to dance," King answered with a slight grin. Truth be told, he was rather nervous. After the whole incident with Belos kidnapping two of them and Baby Elric a year ago, he had grown a crush on the teen beside him and despite being all about cool, he was beside himself.

How in the world did Luz ever deal with this feeling?

"Hey King," Willow greeted as she approached the DJ table. "It's time."

"Finally!" King exclaimed. "Partner, do you mind getting their song?"

CL smiled, grabbed King's cell phone, and searched for the song, "Man in a Movie" by Day6. Once they found it, they said, "Got it."

"Alright, let's play it!" King exclaimed.

"This is been the most magical night of my life," Camila Noceda-Whispers-Clawthorne said with a wide smile on her face as she sat in between her wife and spouse, Eda and Raine respectively.

"After so long and many promises from Eda, it finally happened," Raine giggled as they rested their head on Camila's shoulder. "And to think, none of it would have happened without Luz and Eda…"

"Damn right!" Eda cheered with a wide smirk as she wrapped her left arm around Camila's shoulders, allowing her hand to rest on the top of Raine's head. "If not for Luz, I doubt we finally would have this little shindig. And to think, it's not even over yet."

Camaila nodded as she watched Luz cross the room toward Amity. "Manny would be so proud to see this if he were here," Camila whispered.

"I know," Raine sighed. "He was a good man, Camila, and a fine partner. But we avenged him. It took a few years, but we did it."

"Yeah," Eda whispered. "I just hope I can keep my promise to him and keep everyone happy…."

"Manny didn't just have you keep that promise, Eda," Raine said. "I made the same promise to him too."

"As did I," Camila said as she took both Raine's hand and Eda's hand into her own. "My love, you have to stop shouldering his promise on your shoulders."

"I know," Eda sighed. "It's just hard, you know? He should be here with us. It should be all four of us married. But Belos cost us all that."

"He is with us," Camila told her with a soft gaze.

"In every action we take," Raine continued. "And with Luz's carrying his heart, Manny's never far."

Eda chuckled. "And this is why I married you two. To keep my head out of that ocean…." Eda said with a choked-up voice.

"And we always will," Camila and Raine replied in unison. Camila sniffled a bit and eyed her daughter as she held out her hand to Amity. "Now, let's watch Manny's heart finish off the night."

"This venue is quite beautiful," Lilith Clawthorne stated as she observed the large room. "It must have been made in the Edwardian era."

"Auntie, you really can't turn off your mind out of class, can you?" Vee teased.

"I can," Lilith replied. "But considering how busy the day has been and what is coming up, I need to calm my mind before it gets noisy again."

"I can understand that," Hunter said as Luz led Amity away as a song began to play. "Dad is going to kick himself in the ass when he realizes he missed his stepdaughter being proposed to."

The doors behind the trio opened to reveal the last of their group Gus, Edric, Emira, Viney, Jerbo, and Celine. "We're back with the food. Did we miss it?" Celine asked.

Celine was a nineteen-year-old girl with pale-yellow skin, bright white hair that seemed to naturally slick back and long white bangs that framed the sides of her face, and lavender purple eyes. "It's about to start," Hunter answered.

"Whew, that was close," Jerbo sighed as he moved to an empty table and sat the bags of food on the table with Edric's help.

"You know, I hope when the wedding happens, Amity writes in her speech that we caused this to happen," Edric said once he placed the last bag on the table.

"Technically, I would be the one to be thanked since I came up with the idea," Emira said as she held her eleventh-month-old son, Elric Blight, in her arms.

"You thought of it?" Viney asked with an amused tone. "And here I thought I came up with the idea to charge her money every time she failed."

"And if anything, it would go to me because I clued you both in on her crush in the first place," Gus said.

"Wasn't I the one that told you, August?" Celine asked with raise of her eyebrow.

"Wait, Celine was the one that told you?!" Edric, Hunter, and Emira exclaimed.

Gus flushed as Celine questioned, "Would you believe me if I said that he thought they were really good friends?"

"Roommates even?" Vee followed up.

"You little brat!" Edric exclaimed while Gus sheepishly laughed. "All this time, you took credit for being the first out of all of us to know Amity had her crush when it was actually Celine!"

"So, in short, it was a team effort that got them together," Lilith finalized. "Now hush, children. We have something to watch."

"You know, Luz, it's usually the people getting married that have the first slow dance," Amity laughed as Luz led her to the dance floor.

"Yeah, true, but Eda said she needed to conserve her energy for carrying Mamá and Ren into their honeymoon suite tonight, so I asked if we could have it," Luz replied with a grin. "Which was TMI but you know her."

Luz then held out her right hand to Amity, who accepted it and placed her left hand within it. She then placed her right hand in Luz's left and with Luz leading, the two began their slow dance as Amity heard a familiar song.

"Us?" Amity asked. "I suppose it would make sense, considering we're dancing in their place."

Luz gave a secretive smile, revealing those familiar dimples that made Amity inwardly swoon.

As Luz lead them in their slow dance, Amity couldn't help but remember the first time they became close like this. It was the night of Luz's birthday two years ago. Sure, right after that, the two of them had become a lot closer, but it was the first time they had been close in a romantic sense.

They had plenty of storms since then thanks to Belos, but that love for Luz only grew and never once faltered.

Luz meant everything in the world to her and she never wanted that to end.

Slowly, Luz's arms moved around her shoulders, causing Amity's hands to move down to her hips while swaying to the music. "Amity, from the moment I met you in that museum, I couldn't help but be drawn to you," Luz admitted.

"When I was staring at the Temple of Dendur?" Amity murmured, surprised.

Luz hummed in confirmation and said, "I came there with Willow and Gus to work on a school project. I saw you staring at it with such reverence, it's where I got my idea for my art class…."

"So the painting you made with the woman in the lavender hood…That was me?" Amity asked, her voice catching. She had seen that painting so many times in Luz's room, that she never put the image together.

"You were so pretty, Sweet Potato, I couldn't help it," Luz replied.

"Please….Don't move…." Amity softly recounted.

"I wanted to take a mental picture of you, so I could never forget you," Luz revealed as she rested her head against Amity's chest. Amity felt her eyes watering at Luz's words. "You were so beautiful that I wanted to keep you with me for the rest of my life."

"I didn't understand why I wanted that back then," Luz whispered. "But the moment I saw that red dot on your chest when we went outside coming from that car, I knew that I couldn't let someone like you be erased from my life. I didn't know it then, but that moment was when I became yours…."

"Luz…" Amity breathed as Luz stared up into her eyes. They were glistening with tears.

"I don't regret any of it. Fighting Belos, getting shot, the grueling rehab, none of it," Luz admitted. "Because I have you in my arms now….And I want you to remain in them. I want to always be yours, and for you to be mine."

Amity felt her heart thundering in her chest as she whispered, "What are you saying?"

Luz licked her lips and then smiled with a confidence Amity had never seen in her before.

Tears fell from Amity's eyes as she was rendered breathless from the question. Unable to say anything, she nodded with a wide smile.

Tears finally fell from Luz's eyes as she let out a happy gasp moments before she got on the tips of her toes and claimed Amity's lips in a kiss.
