Ant POV:
16:50 (4:50 pm)
Ant limped down the pavement, there was an eerie chill in the air- the sky was gray with rainclouds and he felt a couple of raindrops dropping on his skin occasionally, the trees bare of leaves, leaving a blanket of red and brown leaves on the ground. Ant stepped off the pavement and onto the grass, leaves crunching underneath him as he kept on walking. He kept on going until he saw a glimpse of Spider's Manor on the horizon. His heart jumped at the thought of Spider, with his slick blond hair, his eyes, always fixed on Ant like he was something worth looking at.
His clothes stuck to him as the wind picked up, reminding him why he was even here. He could feel it caked on his arms, legs, and face. The blood. It made Ant want to rip of his skin and shove it up his parent's ass. How stupid had he been, thinking they would accept him, because who would ever love him for being him? Probably Spider. He was the only one who understood him, who comforted him all the times his parents got mad at him, or hit him. He was always there.
Before he knew it, he stood infront of Spider's Manor's doors. He suddenly felt very aware of the state he was in. What would Spider do when he saw Ant like this? Ant couldn't think about that right now, and knocked on the doors. The doors opened and he stepped inside.
"Spider?" He asked softly, he couldn't bring himself to yell, his voice was already hoarse from screaming. No answer came. He could feel fresh tears forming but he bit them back. Spider would come for him. He always did.
Spider POV:
16:50
Spider had smelled him before he'd seen him. Well he hadn't smelled him, but his blood. There was too much of it, more than there should be, and it was intoxicating him. His mind was spinning, hung on the smell of Ant's blood. He felt the need to taste it, to get so drunk off it until he couldn't be able to stop himself.
Spider was pacing around his room, unable to help himself, when he saw him through his window. Ant, in all his greatness, and completely covered in blood. He was absolutely beautiful. Spider couldn't keep his eyes off him. He wanted to lick every last drop of blood staining Ant. He watched as Ant entered his house, unable to keep his eyes off him.
"Spider?"
Fuck.
He knew if he went downstairs and saw Ant covered in blood, he wouldn't be able to resist the need to taste him. But what else was he supposed to do? Ant needed him. He pushed the desire down and stood up, using the windowsill to steady himself before walking down to the first floor.
He'll admit that he took the long way, he wanted to put this off as much as he could, but coming face to face with Ant was inevitable. Before he knew it, he was at the top of the stairs staring down at Ant. Ant had not noticed him yet so Spider took the time to look at him, really look at him. His hair was a mess, he looked exhausted and had cuts all over his face and arms, where Spider saw blood still pooling out from. Spider swallowed hard and cleared his throat. Ant whirled around, and the look of relief on his face made Spider want to hold him until he didn't hurt anymore. He also wanted to taste him. He could feel his fangs poking through his gum and it took everything in him to push them back.
Ant POV:
17:00 (5:00 pm)
Ant wanted to cry. He wanted to scream and cry and kiss Spider. He couldn't bare Spider looking at him like that, like he wanted to eat him whole.
"Uh- sorry for showing up like this, it's just- can I stay here? It'll just be for a couple days, I promise."
Spider looked taken aback. He made his way down the stairs, stopping short at the bottom before responding, "Of course you can stay here," He breathed out, "Um, did you- what happened?"
Ant could feel the stupid tears coming back, he looked down at his feet, "You know what," he said a little too softly. He thought Spider hadn't heard him, but he felt Spider stepping closer. Ant looked up. Spider eyes were traveling all over his body, lingering on where his cuts were.
"I'm so sorry, I'll go get cleaned up." He said taking a step forward as Spider took one backwards immediately. "Spider? Are you okay?"
Spider nodded stiffly and brought his eyes to Ant's. "Yeah. I mean what about you? You're the one coming here covered in blood," He said lightly.
"I know. Look, my clothes are sticking to me and it feels really fucking disgusting, I'll get cleaned up and I promise I'll tell you everything, just-" He swayed a forward, stumbling over himself. He had not realizing how much blood he had lost, he had been more focused on staying alive, but now he felt lightheaded and his arms we're starting to tingle. Spider caught him with one hand and he heard him take a sharp inhale.
"Okay sunshine, you clearly won't be able to do this by yourself, so let me help you, yeah?"
He nodded absentmindedly and let himself be guided by Spider, who was keeping his distance even while holding him firmly with one hand- Ant didn't know how he did it, but it was extremely attractive. He kept on losing consciousness as Spider led him to the nearest washroom and had to steady himself a couple of times before arriving in front of a door.
They entered the washroom as Spider turned the lanterns on. Ant tried to take of his shirt, but failed miserably.
"Stop." He heard Spider say as he sat Ant down on the edge of the tub, "Here, let me." And so he did. He watched as Spider took of his shirt, his eyes lingering on his chest. Ant realized he had a huge claw mark through it.
"Did your mother do that to you?"
Ant dropped his head and nodded. He felt ashamed, Spider seeing him like this.
He heard Spider inhale, and suddenly felt his fingers tracing the scars on his arms.
"What about these?" He asked softly while running his fingers down Ant's arms.
Ant nodded again, forcing himself to look up at Spider. Spider's hand went up to his face and traced the gash that travelled from his left eye to the right corner of his mouth. Spider's touch felt euphoric, making Ant forget about the pain coursing through his body.
"That one was my dad." He found himself saying. Maybe it was the blood loss, or Spider's touch, but he felt the urge to just tell him everything.
"I'm going to fucking kill them." Spider murmured under his breath.
Ant's head snapped up, "Spider no."
"Look at what they did to you!"
"It's not their fault, I'm-"
"Not their fault? Are you fucking kidding me right now? Come on Ant, don't fucking tell me they did this because they 'love' you."
"Spider, I deserved it."
"What did you just say."
Ant looked up at Spider, and he honestly looked like he could go kill someone right now.
"I'm- I can't-"
"What? You can't what?"
"I can't transform." Ant said looking down at his lap.
Spider's mouth hung. "You're fucking kidding me. They did this because you couldn't fucking transform? Do you realize how fucked up that is?"
Ant looked up, "Don't you understand? I'm basically a disgrace- now I have no pack because they kicked me out-"
"No they left you for dead. No one cares if you can't transform or not-"
"I care!"
Spider closed his mouth and ran a hand through his hair, "You do realize how stupid that is? Werewolves are the so fucked up, the minute you can't transform you're a disgrace? They're all about family until you're not like them. Shows how fake it all is."
Ant shook his head, "Spider you don't understand- I'm basically an abomination- I shouldn't even exist-"
"Well thank fuck you do. Listen, I don't care if you can or can't transform, I don't care if you don't have pack, you are still Ant. The same Ant that deserved to live last week because he thought he was going to transform. You lost your pack, so let's make one, you and me."
"I didn't lose my pack they kicked me out, besides that not how that works."
Spider rolled his eyes, "I don't give a fuck, we're forming a pack weather you want to or not."
"You're not a- you're human."
Spider rolled his eyes, "Ant for once please just forget everything your parents brainwashed you to think and think for yourself. You and me, we stick together, yeah? Thick and thin, I don't care if you can't transform or if I'm human, I just care about having you around. Now, shut up, we need to get you cleaned up."
Spider POV:
17:55 (5:55 pm)
Spider helped Ant up and started to undo his belt.
"Spider?"
He hummed in response, taking off Ant's belt before moving on to his pants.
"Why?"
"Why what?" Spider asked, not looking up, focusing on undressing Ant. The though made his chest warm. Now undressed, the smell of his blood was even stronger, and he kept on leaning towards Ant. He was well aware that his fangs were out, and he tried to focus on hiding them from Ant.
"Why me? Why are you so nice to me? Why can't you just be like everyone else and reject me for the abomination I am?"
"Stop being stupid. You're my friend, why would I not be nice to you?"
Ant shrugged, swaying harder, making difficult for Spider to take his pants off. He looked up at Ant who was staring at his mouth. Fuck, can he see my fangs?
"Besides you're not an abomination."
"Yes I am."
Spider rolled his eyes again and led Ant to the tub, "You're parents are crazy if they told you that, you are perfect, okay? Transformation or no transformation."
He saw Ant start to cry.
He sighed, "Alright lets get you cleaned," he said as he helped him climb into the tub.
He forced himself to ignore the urge of wanting to drink Ant's blood. Ant was still covered in it and it was distracting Spider. He started to feel lightheaded as he turned the water on. Better to start washing it off before he did something he would regret.
He washed the blood off and watched as it went down the drain. What a waste. He started to wash Ant's hair, scrubbing until the water came out clear. He moved on to clean the big gash on his face when he saw that Ant had passed out. Fuck.
"Ant? Hey? Ant!" He gently slapped his face, shook him, but he wouldn't wake up. "Shit, shit, shit." He saw that he was still bleeding from his chest. "Fuck! Ant!" He looked around in panic before looking back at Ant. Beautiful Ant who would always cheer him up, who would force Spider out of his stupid manor so he would go outside for once, Ant, who always knew the best places, Ant, whose blood intoxicated Spider every time he got too close, leaving him dry and dizzy.
He had always wanted to taste Ant's blood, he reckoned he could get high off it, but he was too scared that once he started he wouldn't be able to stop.
Some selfish part of him told him to let Ant die, let him so he could finally find that euphoric feeling, finally, after all these years, he would finally taste Ant, but he pushed it down. Instead he bit his wrist and brought it to Ant's mouth.
"Come on Ant," Spider kept his wrist in place forcing Ant to swallow his blood. He sighed in relief as he felt Ant stir under his wrist.
Suddenly he felt Ant's tongue move across his wrist. His breath hitched and he pulled his wrist back, watching in awe as Ant slowly woke up.
"Hey sleeping beauty."
Ant blinked a few times before looking up at Spider and wiping his mouth. He made a disgusted face, "Is there blood in my mouth?"
"Uh- yeah. You passed out, are you okay?"
Ant nodded.
"Okay, lets get you dressed."
Getting Ant out of the tub and into a room was challenging, but easier than before. He seemed to be feeling better, and he hadn't noticed that most of the small cuts on his arms were completely healed. Spider had no idea how he was going to explain it to Ant once he realizes it, for now, he was more preoccupied with getting Ant dressed. Except that he was arguing with everything Spider was saying, which was starting to really irritate Spider.
"Ant. Just wear the goddamn shirt."
"Have you seen it? That is the ugliest shirt I've seen, I don't even know how you own this."
Spider rolled his eyes, "Ant. I love you, but you're being an ass."
Ant smiled from ear to ear, "Thank you," He said before taking out a brown shirt, "This is better."
"That's way to small for you."
Ant shrugged and put it on. It was indeed small, but in the way that it hugged his body and came up short just above his hip bones. Spider stared at the strip of skin that was showing. He wanted to bite him.
"So?"
Spider's head snapped up, "Huh?"
"How do I look?"
"Really good."
Ant raised his eyebrows, before softening in a smile, "You think so?"
"Yeah, you look nice." Spider said casually. He was dying inside.
"Thanks. For everything." Ant said waving a hand around.
"It's nothing," Spider said, grinning and put an arm around Ant, "You owe me though." He said winking. Ant laughed and shoved him off.
"Wanker."
Spider liked making Ant laugh. If he had a purpose in life, it was to make Ant laugh. Like really laugh, not the fake kind you do when someone tells an unfunny joke and you don't want things to be awkward.
"Hey are you hungry? I'm fucking starving."
Spider shook his head, "No, but I'll make you something." Spider was hungry. He was extremely hungry. He was hungry for Ant.
They started moving towards the kitchen. "I can't believe how you have such a huge house but no one to clean or cook you food."
"Yeah? Why don't you do it, you'll see if it's enjoyable."
Ant rolled his eyes, "No thanks, have you seen your house?"
They entered the kitchen and Spider got to work. He actually didn't have a lot of food in here- most of it was for when Ant came over, and he was a shit cook, but he had practiced so much so he could perfect Ant's favorite meal with his eyes closed.
He started cooking the steak as Ant looked around in the fridge, before taking out a bottle of water. He sat down at the table and drank directly from the bottle. Spider didn't mind, it's not like he drank that water anyways.
"You want some?" Ant asked, gasping for air.
"No thanks."
Ant shrugged before chugging half of it.
"You know, I actually feel like really good. Is that weird? I mean I basically lost half of my blood, I feel like I should be more tired."
Spider froze, "Well, as long as you're feeling better, right?" Ant nodded while drumming his fingers along the table.
Spider finished cooking the meat and added extra seasoning on top. He brought the plate to Ant and sat down across from him.
"Ugh, thank you, I am starving." Ant absolutely devoured his steak. It was a little concerning, but given he had lost so much blood, he decided it probably did more good than bad.
"Do you want another one?"
Ant shook his head, licking his fingers. Spider wanted to lick his fingers for him. He shook the thought from his head as he watched Ant gulp down more water.

Chapter Text
Ant POV:
21:35 (9:35 pm)
Ant felt good, he felt more than good. He felt amazing. He kept on thinking back to the conversation he and Spider had, and couldn't help but smile. Spider had said he was perfect , and that he loved him. On top of that Spider had undressed him- granted he knew it had only happened because he hadn't been able to, but that didn't matter.
He was walking around in Spider's Manor while Spider was showering. He practically knew the Manor like the back of his hand, but he had always enjoyed looking at the antiques and paintings. He especially liked looking at the paintings of Spider's family line. Apparently, everyone in his family had had their painting done when they turned 18, meaning Spider will have his done in a couple months. Ant thought it was absolutely ridiculous and kept on teasing Spider about it, but now, staring at the line of paintings, he reckoned Spider's face was made to be painted, to be kept behind a frame for everyone to look at.
His favorite painting to look at was Spider's grandfather's. He resembled Spider the most, and it had a nice touch to it. The frame was gold and had what looked like drips of blood swirling down to the bottom. At the top, there was a person carved in gold, the blood coming from them. Ant squinted, he had never really noticed the frame, or at least not the person at the top, but now that he was looking, it looked like the blood was coming from the neck's of each carving. There were two little dots in the crook of their neck. Huh, that's a strange design, He thought. It was cool though, like a vampire theme. Maybe Spider's grandfather had been a vampire, Ant didn't know how he had died, and there were no dates at the bottom of the painting, but then why had Spider never said anything about it? Ant put the thought in the back of his head and looked at the painting of Spider's father.
He had the same pigment skin as Spider, but his eyes were slightly lighter- not that Ant looked at Spider's eyes. He looked over at the frame, it was gold and silver, with two sets of triangles at the top and bottom.
As Ant kept on walking, he kept on getting the feeling that he was being watched. He walked a little faster through the hall of generations- as he called it. Before eventually reaching the last painting.
He had never actually gone all the way to the end, there were just so many paintings that eventually he would run out of time, or Spider would get bored, but now here he was, looking at the face of the first of Spider's line. At least the first recorded. Ant scanned the painting and noticed a name and date at the bottom:
Thomias Veltor White;
1100-1340
Thomias bad been a vampire. Either that or he had been a witch. But he sure as hell hadn't been human. He looked around at the paintings next to Thomias', none of them had years, but a few had names.
"Ant.." Someone whispered. Ant whipped his head around, but no one was there. That sensation of being watched came back again as he started fidgeting with his hands.
"Ant....Ant..."
He looked around, but there was no one. He started walking, fast. Why had he come here in the first place? Why was this hallway so damn long?
"Ant!"
He bumped into someone and reflexively pushed them off. "Ant? What the fuck!"
He looked up at Spider. "Fuck. Sorry, I was just." He stopped himself, would Spider believe him if he told him he heard someone call his name?
"You okay?"
Ant looked at Spider, and realized he wasn't wearing anything, just a towel around his waist. Ant's face started to heat up, "Yeah- I uh, was just looking at the paintings." He said waving in their direction.
Spider held his gaze and Ant forced himself to look away. "Okay..." He said slowly, "If your ever feeling bad, you tell me, yeah?"
Ant nodded stiffly.
"Okay. Cool. Uh- are you sure you okay?"
Ant looked up at the ceiling, refusing to lay eyes on him. He felt very hot and needed Spider to go . Him standing half naked in front of Ant was making him very much not okay.
"Yeah. Can you- Can you get dressed. Like now. Please."
Spider frowned while smiling, "Okay? Am I, bothering you?" He asked while smirking.
"Shut up."
"No wait, seriously?"
"Just leave it Spider." He finally looked over at Spider. They stared at each other for a couple of minutes before Spider sighed.
"Okay," Spider said raising his hands as if to surrender.
Ant shoved passed him.
"Ant! Come on man, talk to me!"
Ant kept on going. When he usually stayed over, he slept in Spider's room, even though he had his own room that Spider had given him a long time ago. Now, he wanted to be as far away as possible to anything Spider related, and made a B-line for his room. He made a right and opened the door. The entire room was red and black from the wallpaper to the bed sheets. The room was bigger than the room he had back at home, and it had three times as more windows. The ceiling was domed and high up making Ant dizzy. He sat down on his bed, What just happened? A knock came from the door making Ant jump.
"Fuck off." He called out.
"Ant! Hey can we talk?"
Ant sighed, "Yeah whatever" he mumbled. He didn't know how Spider heard him, but the door opened and in walked Spider. He was wearing a black vest with a dark red shirt underneath and black pants.
"How the hell did you get dressed so fast?"
Spider ignored him, "I didn't mean to upset you earlier."
"You didn't upset me." He paused, "Also, I think you're house is haunted."
Spider snorted and went to lay down on Ant's bed, "Tell me about it."
"No seriously, I heard someone whisper my name and everything."
Spider turned his head, "I'm being serious too, I have like this great great great great great great great grandmother named Amelia. Apparently she died before she tur- uh, before she uh- I don't really remember but, rumor has it she haunts the manor." He shrugged.
Ant frowned, Spider never stumbled over his words unless he was hiding something. This whole situation was making Ant really uncomfortable.
"She's chill though."
"Yeah okay but why did you never tell me?"
"Well, I don't know, I mean it didn't seem like something you'd want to know."
"Fucks sake can you stop lying to me for like two seconds? I hate it."
"I'm not lying!"
"I can tell when you lie Spider."
"What, is that a werewolf thing?"
"No. I just know when you lie. I know you Spider."
Spider eyed him before sighing, "It's just some stupid family lore. You know like stories parents tell their children when they're young."
Ant looked at him before responding, "Okay."
They sat in silence for a couple of minutes, Ant fidgeting with the covers of his bed, occasionally looking over Spider.
"Will you sleep in my room tonight? Please?"
Spider was looking up at him with those dark blue eyes that Ant loved so much. The way Spider was basically begging for Ant to sleep with him was making his stomach churn. He did want to sleep in Spider's room, but his mind was all over the place that he was scared he would do something he would regret later.
"I think I need some space. Just for tonight. If that's okay."
"Yeah. Of course that's okay." Spider said, but Ant could tell he was disappointed, "I'll leave you." He stood up.
"Spider-"
"It's fine Ant, really." Spider left without saying another word.
Ant groaned in his pillow. If Spider was going to make him feel like this during his stay, he would lose his mind.

Chapter Text
Spider POV:
22:00 (10:00 PM)
Spider's skin itched. His fingers twitched. He needed blood now.
He looked outside, the moon was a crescent, high in the sky. He wondered if Ant was awake, was he thinking about his family? He understood why he felt the way he felt, werewolves were conditioned from birth to honor their family and go through with their tranformstion at 18 years old. Doesn't mean he hated them any less.
Spider felt something crawl on him and lifted his arm. Webs, his spider, was making his way up to Spider's shoulder.
"Hey Webs." He whispered in the night as his spider crawled up his arm and settled in the crook of his neck. Spider sighed. If he was going to eat, now was his chance. He cupped Webs in his hands and settled him on his shoulder.
Spider got up and made his way to the door. Thats when he smelled him. Ant. His hand hovered in front of the handle, were his senses betraying him or was Ant actually standing outside his door. He rested his hand on the handle and turned it slowly, the door hinging as it opened. He found himself face to face with Ant. Fuck. Ant looked up at him in surprise, his hand in the air, like he was about to knock.
"Spider. Hi." He dropped his hand to his side.
"Ant. Uh- What are you- what are you doing here?"
"Oh. Uh. I couldn't sleep. It feels weird, being alone."
"Oh."
Ant rocked back and forth om his feet, before abruptly stopping, frowning, "Wait, what are you doing?"
Spider cleared his throat, "Uh- I was just, you know, going out."
"At this hour?"
Spider opened his mouth and closed it. "I couldn't, sleep either." He said looking down at his feet. It wasn't technically a lie- but it wasn't the truth either.
"Oh." Ant breathed out, "Can I," he paused, "Come in?"
Spider wanted him to leave. He wanted him to stay. He was too hungry to have Ant in his room, but whay was he going to say? No sorry Ant, I'm actually about to go in town to just drink blood from a couple people, yeah don't worry it's like super normal for me. Yeah, not a chance.
"Uh yeah, go ahead." He stepped aside to let Ant in, "I'm just going to go to the washroom, really quickly."
Ant nodded.
22:15 (10:15 PM)
Spider was going crazy. He looked at himself in the mirror, yep, his fangs were definitely out, his only hope was that it would be too dark for Ant to notice. He ran a hand through his hair. The way he saw it, he had two options: stay in this washroom for the night, or go out. Spider feared that if he stayed here, Ant would go looking for him, or worse, Spider would go looking for Ant. Suddenly Spider heard a knock followed by the door opening.
"Spider?" He heard Ant say, "Are you okay? I can go back to my room if you want."
Yes, he wanted to say, leave so I don't hurt you. But he didn't say that.
"No no, it's fine Ant. Come on let's go, you need to rest."
He saw Ant look at him wearily, he decided not to dwell on in too much. The walk back to Spider's room was excruciating, filled with silence, making Spider restless. Webs had wondered off into the cracks of the Mannor; Spider had never envied him more. They entered his room and Ant stood awkwardly next to his side of his bed as Spider got in.
"Are you waiting for an invitation?" He asked sarcastically.
He heard Ant sigh and felt the bed dip as he got in. Spider turned on his side. He could make out Ant's silhouette in the dark, but couldn't quite see his features.
"How are you feeling?" Spider whispered into the night.
"I don't know."
Spider kept his eyes on him. Even though he couldn't see him, Spider had memorized every last feature of Ant's face. He could picture him perfectly in his head.
"My-" He took a breath, "My cuts, they aren't hurting anymore."
Spider breathed out, "Oh, well, that's good right?"
Ant shrugged, "I guess."
Silence fell over over them. He felt Ant move onto his side.
"Spider?"
"Yeah?"
"What are you hiding from me?"
Ant Pov:
22:29 (10:29 PM)
Ant could see the shock on Spider's face. He could see it so clearly.
"I- what do you- what do you mean?"
Ant swallowed. He could see Spider's panick as clear as a day.
"Nevermind."
Silence fell over them.
"Ant?"
"Yeah?"
"What happend?"
Well that was straightforward.
"It- I was supposed to go through the transformation a couple days back."
Spider nodded.
"I didn't- obviously. But I, I lied about it. I told my parents that I had just gotten lost during the night. I don't know, it felt like I was lying about who I was, but obviously I couldn't tell them because, well, you know... Anyways, I think they had suspected it for a while, and they started asking me questions about that night. I panicked and told them. You know what happened after that."
He stayed quiet and saw Spider run a hand through his hair, letting out a breath.
"Fuck Ant... I'm so sorry."
"It's not your fault." He said soflty.
"I know, I know. It's still wrong though. And I don't know, maybe I could've done something."
"What were you supposed to do?"
"I don't know, but Ant, you could've told me."
He moved onto his back. "If you're keeping secrets from me, I don't see why I can't keep secrets from you."
Spider sighed, "Ant, I-I'm not keeping-"
"Don't bullshit me Spider."
"I can't- I can't tell you."
Ant turned his head to face Spider. "Why." He challenged.
"'Cause you'll hate me." Spider mumbled.
"Spider. Nothing you could do would ever make me hate you."
Spider looked at him with a sad look in his eye, "You don't know that. If I told you- if you knew the thoughts I've been having- Ant, you would hate me. You would hate me or you would be terrified of me, I don't know, but there is no way you would stay." He said, then added softly, "I can't have you hate me."
Ant ran his hand through Spider's hair. Spider's eyes fluttered shut and he covered his mouth reflexively.
"You don't scare me Spider."
Spider opened his eyes, and looked up at Ant.
Ant couldn't take it anymore. What more did he have to lose? Sure, if Spider rejected him, he would have no place to go, no one to help him, but he didn't care. If he was going to stay here, there weas no way he would be able to contain himself.
He shuffled closer to Spider, keeping his hand in his hair. He saw Spider inhale, his eyes flicking down at Ant's lips, his hand still covering his mouth. They stayed inches away from eachother for what seemed like forever before Ant finally spoke.
"Spider," He whispered, "Can I kiss you?"
Spider gave a small nod.
"Are you sure? 'Cause I-"
Spider interrupted him by bringing their lips together.
Ant's mind went blank. He had dreamt for this moment since he had layed eyes on Spider, and now it was really happening.
He felt Spider's hands on his face bringing him back to the present. He was kissing Spider. Spider was kissing him.
He brought his other hand to the back of Spider's neck before moving on top of him, putting both of his legs to the side of Spider's hips. He heard Spider whimper in his mouth and melted into the kiss as Spider sat up, without disconnecting the kiss. Spider's hand trailed down Ant's back all the way to the back of his head.
Suddenly, Spider pulled back, Ant following his lips like he couldn't get enough of him. Spider was covering his mouth and looking at Ant with fear. Had he done something wrong? Did Spider regret kissing him? He was aware that he was basically in Spider's lap and started to panick. He just wanted to kiss Spider again.
"Did I- did I do something wrong?"
Spider shook his head, "No, I- I don't know if this is good idea,"
Ant took his hands off Spider, "Are you fucking kidding me?"
Spider sighed dropping his hand, "It's not you- I want to kiss you, but-"
"But what? Do you... not like me?"
"No! I do, I like you, like a lot, sometimes I think maybe a little too much but-"
"What?"
Spider licked his lips. His eyes kept on lingering on Ant's neck.
"What, Spider?"
Maybe Ant was imagining things in the night, but he swore Spider was crying, "I really don't want you to hate me."
"What could you possibly do to make me hate you?"
"I'm afraid I won't be able to stop."
"What if I don't want you to stop?"
Spider didn't say anything. He looked at Ant's neck, then his lips before bringing his eyes back on Ant's, "Can I, can I kiss you again?"
Ant sighed. He should say no, he knows that, but kissing Spider had felt so good and perfect and well, he was already in his lap. Ant leaned in and kissed him. Spider took a moment before kissing him back, but caught up as his hands flew straight to Ant's hips.
"Ant." Spider breathed out in between kisses, "Ant, please."
Spider started to kiss Ant's jaw, making his way to Ant's neck. Ant tilted his head backwards giving Spider more skin to kiss as Spider brought one of his hands to Ant's neck, the other staying at waist. Ant rolled his hips making Spider bite down on his neck. He heard Spider inhale sharply before kissing him harder. He felt the hand at his waist moving up his body settling around his neck.
Spider POV:
22:42 (10:42 PM)
Spider could not get enough of Ant. How had he bit him without drawing blood was beyond him, but he wasn't focused on that. He dragged his teeth along Ant's neck making him whimper, and oh, Spider was this close to biting him again. At this point, he had lost all control over his body, sure he could usually controll himself, but that couldn't erase who he was, and Ant's neck was right there. He felt his fangs dig out of his gums as he bit into Ant's neck.
He had warned Ant. He had told him, but foolish Ant had been dumb enough to trust him. Ant inhaled as Spider's teeth pierced his flesh, holding on to him. The first drop of blood Spider tasted had him yearning for more. Unable to control himself, he started to drink. It was a drug, as soon as he finished, he wanted more, needed more. He needed to feel it on his tongue, in his body. He felt Ant squirm in his lap, softly crying out.
"Spider? Spider you're hurting me." Spider could hear the panick in Ant's voice, but he was too far gone to stop. As long as blood kept on coming out of Ant, he wouldn't stop.
This was what he had been missing his entire life. He bit down harder and felt Ant's blood dripping down his neck. He dragged his tongue down the side trying to capture every last drop. With his teeth no longer in Ant's neck, he felt Ant try to get out of his lap. He tightened his hand around his neck enough to keep him in place but not enough to choke him. Ant looked beautiful. He had two very obvious bite marks with blood pooling down his neck. He was covering his neck with his hand, and Spider realized he looked scared. Spider's head stopped spinning. Ant looked at him with those beautiful eyes of his, but this time, they didn't want Spider, they were scared of him.
What have I done .
Spider began to panick, he was torn between his urge to just keep drinking, and his feelings torwards Ant. Beautiful Ant who looked so terrified. All because of him.
Spider lossened his grip on Ant's neck and he immediately scrambled out of his lap, his hand still covering his neck.
Spider wiped his mouth, he had blood all over him and he couldn't stop himself from licking his lips. He stared at Ant.
Silence fell around them as they stared at eachother, both too scared to speak. Spider felt his ears ring from the silence, he spoke first,
"Ant, I'm-"
"No."
"Ant ." Spider begged as he moved to the edge of his bed.
"Stay. away. from. me." He said, backing away from him.
"Ant, let me explain-"
"Explain what? That you're a fucking vampire? That you just tried to kill me? God how stupid I had been, thinking you liked me." Ant laughed, "All this time, you were just waiting, for-for what? For me to throw myself at you so you can get a snack?"
"Ant no-" Spider reached out.
Ant flinched backwards, "Stay the fuck away from me."
"If I had wanted you dead, I wouldn't have saved you earlier!" He cried out.
Ant's eyes widened in disbelief, "Keep you and your creepy vampire shit away from me."
"Ant."
"Don't fucking 'Ant' me."
"Where are you even going to go?"
"Anywhere is better than here."
Spider wanted to cry. "They'll kill you."
"Yeah I bet you'd be really bummed out, not being able to kill me yourself."
"Ant-"
"You know, after everything, I thought you trusted me."
"I do trust you!"
Ant shook his head, "Goodbye Spider." He started walking torwards the door as Spider stepped in front of him.
"Get out of my way."
"No."
They stood their in silence before Spider said softly, "I tried to warn you. I told you I wouldn't be able to stop."
Ant scoffed in disbelief, "I'm sorry was I supposed to catch the memo that that meant you were going to fucking drink my blood?"
Spider swallowed, "Do you hate me?"
Ant shut his mouth abruptly.
"I'm sorry. I knew that I wouldn't be able to stop myself, and I did it anyways. I never meant to hurt you, I never want to hurt you."
Ant stared at him. "Well you did. Why didn't you tell me?"
Spider gave him a pleading look, he took a breath before responding, "My parents always told me to keep it a secret, it was a family tradition, you get turned three months before your 18th birthday. You don't understand-"
Ant ran his hand through his hair, "Then make me understand."
"I swear I'll tell you everything-"
"How am I supposed to know if you're going to tell the truth? You've already lied to me once."
"Look, I know it may be hard for you to trust me, I mean I get it- but I really like you, Ant. And I wanted tell you, I really did, but I didn't want you to hate me or be scared of me. Or leave me. Please don't leave."
He heard Ant curse under his breath before putting his hands on his hips, "I'll stay."
Spider released a sigh of relief.
"But, I'm going to need some space to process this."
"Okay, yeah, yeah, that's understandable."
They looked at eachother for a couple of moments before Spider spoke.
"Sorry for biting you. Does it hurt?"
"What do you think?"
"I'm sorry."
"Do you regret it?"
"Uh..What part?"
He saw Ant blush, "The biting."
"No."
Ant nodded. "What about the..kissing then?"
"I don't regret that either."
He saw Ant surpress a smile, "Okay," He breathed out. "Uh..I'm.. going to go."
"Yeah, of course." He stepped aside and let Ant exit his room.
Spider shut the door and fell into his bed. He didn't care that the blood on his mouth was staining his bedsheets. He felt amazing. He felt horrible. Ant's blood had made him feel something no other human's blood had made him feel before. He had felt stronger, more euphoric. On the other hand, he had drank Ant's blood. Ant, his bestfriend since they were 9. Spider was still coming down from the high and could smell Ant's blood all the way from his room. His body was telling him to just go, go and drink and finally find the high he had longed for, but his body wouldn't move. If Ant needed space then Spider would give him space. He could do that.
Ant POV:
22:59 (10:59 PM)
Ant shut his door. He stood there trying to process what the hell had just happened. Spider was a vampire. He had just tried to drink Ant's blood. He had kissed Spider. Ant knows he should be more concerned about the whole vampire thing, but Spider had kissed him. He ran his hands through his hair and let out a sigh.
He saw himself in the mirror and saw the two bite marks on his neck. There was blood smeerered around them. Spider had done that to him. A million questions came to his mind. How long has spider been a vampire? Was he safe here? Or would it just be a matter of time before Spider killed him?
Ant let out another sigh and fell into his bed. He still couldn't sleep and now he was even more distracted then before. He looked outside and saw the moon through one of the windows. He felt tears coming so he turned around, feeling the sting of the bite press into his pillow.
He should probably be more scared of Spider than he was, but he wasnt. He was just shocked, and a little hurt he hadn't said anything to Ant.
Ant tossed and turned all night. His sheets felt scratchy, the matress too soft, and his pillow too hard. He kept on thinking about Spider, and his lips on Ant's. Spider's hand around his neck, and his waist, grounding Ant. Spider's body pressed against him. He would never say this out loud- but Ant reckons he would give Spider all his blood just for him to hold him like that again. He heard a door hinge open, followed by a set of footsteps. He sat up slowly and listened. It hadn't come from Spider's room.
He froze as he heard the voice. That voice.
"Ant....Ant...Ant."

Chapter Text
Spider POV:
23:00 (11:00 PM)
Spider heard footsteps coming from down the hall, they sounded like they were coming from Ant's room, but they didn't sound like Ant-not that he knew how Ant's footsteps sounded, he was just very observant. He considered getting up and checking up on Ant, but Ant had said he needed space, and seeing him right now was probably not the best idea.
He tossed and turned, he needed to sleep. He looked up at his ceiling as his mind wandered. He didn't feel hungry anymore, almost like Ant's blood had fulfilled him, even if there was still a tiny tug in him wanting more. There was this legend, passed down his family through generations, that vampires had a bond with one other person, basically destined to be their soulmate, and that once managed to drink their blood, they wouldn't need to feed off anyone else; that's why vampires were always lusting for blood, they were trying to find that bond, even if it meant drinking every human dry on the planet. Spider never believed in the legend, it seemed silly that one person could stop his blood hunger for the rest of his life, only having to occasionally drink out of them, but after tasting Ant, he didn't seem so sure. For the first time in a long time, he didn't feel hungry. If the legend was true, did that mean that he had bonded with Ant? That would mean that they were basically soulmates (Spider decided not to think about this too much or else he'd lose his mind). He smiled at the thought before wiping it from his mind, Get a hold of yourself, it's just a myth. He heard a shuffling coming from Ant's room before complete silence.
He sat up, it was a little too quiet. He listened, but he couldn't hear anything, in fact he couldn't even hear Ant's deep breaths he took when he slept. He crept out of bed, before opening his door as quiet as possible, treading down the hall. He heard Web's patter roaming down the halls as he walked down the hallway to Ant's room.
Ant's door was slightly ajar, and Spider pushed it open. He tried to adjust his eyes to the dark, but it was quite literally pitch-black. He tapped around, looking for an oil lamp, fumbling with a match before lighting it. Spider almost dropped the lamp as his eyes adjusted, seeing Ant floating slightly above his mattress. He stood their in shock before rushing over to the side of the bed. Ant's eyes were rolled in the back of his head, and his body was slightly shaking. There were whispers that Spider couldn't quite make out, but they sounded rushed and heavy. He tried grabbing Ant's arm but it was so cold he flinched back involuntarily. He then tried to bring Ant's body back down but it was as if there was a force keeping away from the bed. The whispers started getting louder and blood started pooling out of Ant's eyes, ears, and nose. Spider took a sharp inhale, as he looked around the room for something, anything, that could maybe help him. Hadn't Ant been on his death bed almost 5 hours ago? This was way too much stress for Spider for just one day. He looked back at Ant who was had started shaking even more, as blood dripped down on the bed.
There was nothing Spider could do but watch his love one die at the hands of death himself. He thought back to the conversation him and Ant had had a couple of hours previous, about Amelia, the rumored (Spider swore it was true and that he's seen her walk around on full moons) ghost that haunted his manor, but she wasn't doing this. Was she? No, Amelia had always been rumored to take care of the residents in the manor, and Ant had been over before and this had never happened.
Ant's skin had turn a suspiciously concerning shade of pale, as more blood started running down his cheeks. Spider began to truly panic, was Ant really going to die? Suddenly, Spider froze as he remembered what had happened earlier this day. The blood. He had given Ant blood in order to save him. Spider was hit with a wave of relief before extreme panic again. Yes it would be wonderful that Ant wouldn't die, but taking in the fact that science still exist, it would mean that Ant would turn. Into a vampire.
Ant POV:
23:13 (11:13 PM)
Ant felt nothing but pain as he was plunged in utter darkness and couldn't find out where he was.
What am I doing here? What am I doing here? What am I doing here? He kept on thinking. "Where is here?" "Where is Spider?" "Where is Spider?" "Where is he?"
He felt tears sliding his face, thick and sluggish, running down his checks. The pain from his scars were burning into him, itching themselves into his soul, with the rest of his scars, the one he kept hidden behind a veil, the ones that stroke harder than the others but never left any proof. The sharp cut of words, his mother's tongue sharper than any claw or blade. His body felt cold, and waves of memories started to come back, of those dark nights out in the middle of the woods, trembling under a pile of leaves, hiding from each snap of a branch, each whistle the wind blew through the thick leafage, each ruffle of bushes, hiding, and waiting to be killed. How when the sun finally rose, and his parents would come out to see if he had survived another one of their 'trials', and be disappointed that it was him, Ant, that had survived the night rather than another sibling from his pack. He remembered how, even though the sun was up and finally warming his body up, he would still feel cold, knowing that he had lost another sibling, knowing that it could've been him, knowing that he could've let it be him, that he would've let it be him, if he wasn't such a coward. He felt more tears running down his face, as the darkness started creeping in the sides of his mind.
He started to forget.
His family.
The woods.
The screams of his siblings being torn apart while he sat there, covered in leaves, trembling and cowering.
The cuts of his parent's words.
The cuts of his parents claws.
He started to forget.
What was he forgetting?
What had he forgotten?
Had that light always been there?
He started to forget.
The light at the center of town.
The light where he had met a strange boy, with pale white skin, and sleeked-back blond hair.
The walks they had.
The jokes they shared.
He started to forget.
Why was he forgetting this?
The soft laughter bubbling out of his mouth on nights where he would sit on 'The Light' boy's floor, candy wrappers scattered around them, witch and ghost stories hanging in the air.
The big manor that became more like home than his house could ever be.
The pond they would sit at in silence for hours, staring at the water ripple through the autumn breeze.
The boy he had fallen in love with.
Spider.
Time does not exist here
Ant has been here before. He knows he has, but he's never been on the complete other side.
He didn't quite exactly know where here was, but he knows he's been here.
All of a sudden, he felt a force tugging at him, egging him on backwards. His body wanted to fight it, to protest it, this wasn't natural, there shouldn't be doorway out of here, so why was one appearing all of a sudden? He knew he had to stay here, after all it was against nature to leave, but as his body was fighting back, his mind was pulling him forward. He couldn't help but think about the light.
His light.
His boy.
He reached out, desperate to get any shred of light before it leaves. Slowly, he felt himself coming back, bit by bit, pieces joining together to form a puzzle.
His memories came back first. The good and the bad. The soft and the harsh. But he let them, if it meant being with his light then he'd let them come back.
Then, everything went blank.
Ant was cramped in between 3 walls. Slivers of light were seeping through the wooden door in front of him, and he could hear faint talking in the distance. He was six years old.
The voices started getting louder as his senses became sharper.
His mom had been fighting with one of his sisters. She had been screaming at her, and Ant had been too much of a coward to stand up for her. Even as the words had struck down on her, or when their mom had started pushing over tables and chairs, or when she had finally struck down as her claws came out, making sure to leave a mark so their other siblings would see this as a lesson; that they had to transform, or they would end up dead.
Ant hadn't come out of the cramped cupboard even as his mom had yelled out for him, knowing that if she had found him, he would've gotten a worse punishment than his sister had gotten. He hadn't come out of the cupboard when his mom had started to to grab his sister, digging her claws in her arm screaming at her to tell her where Ant was. Their mom had sent his sister off saying 'she was lucky she wasn't a disgrace like Ant'. He hadn't understood what that meant then, he had only been six.
He didn't see his sister again for a whole month, and when she came back, everyone in the pack had chosen to ignore the bruises and cuts on her.
His sister had transformed a week later, and his mom had lavished her with kisses and gifts, repeating over and over 'I never doubted you'.
Ant hadn't understood why his sister had cried later that night, shouldn't she be happy and proud to finally be a part of their pack?
He understood now. He understood all of it.
Ant was seven. He had gone out in the village and lost his brother a long time ago. The sun had started to go down, a soft hue of pink and orange settling down on the hill he had been standing on. He had started making his way back home, when he had noticed the light that stood at the center of the village, or rather, the boy sitting down next to it. He had sleeked back blond hair and Ant had wondered how it would feel to run his hands through it.
He had approached the light carefully, trying to not scare the boy, before plumping down next to him. The boy had startled and yelped, before glaring at him, and eventually going back to normal.
Silence had fallen over them, and Ant had started to tap his fingers against the pavement.
"Can you stop that." The boy had spat out at him. Ant had looked over at him before moving his hands off the pavement.
He had been looking straight ahead when he felt the other boy's glare on him.
"Who are you?"
Ant had turned to look at the boy.
"Anthony." He had replied simply, shrugging.
"That's a boring name."
"Yeah? Well what's your name?"
The boy had closed his mouth before answering quietly, "Spencer."
"What?"
"Spencer" The boy had repeated louder.
Ant had snorted, before covering his mouth, trying not to laugh.
The boy had an annoyed look on his face, and had kept glaring at Ant- Ant noticed he did that quite a lot.
"I'm sorry," Ant had said once calming himself down, "And you said my name was bad."
The boy had shrugged, before answering, "Yeah, well, I never said mine wasn't."
Ant had thought for a moment, "Let's make new names."
The boy had looked at him like he was crazy before smiling broadly. He had looked over at the ground and pointed at an ant trying to crawl on Ant, "Your name can be Ant! That way if people ask you can say it's short for Anthony! Plus Ant is so much cooler than Anthony."
Ant had wrinkled his nose, "But ants are bugs," He had said, to which the boy had looked at him like he was crazy.
"Yeah, that's the point. Bugs are cool."
"Hm, I guess they are. So what about you?"
"Oh, right."
"You could do 'Spence', short for Spencer!"
Now it had been the boy's turn to wrinkle his nose, "Ew no, that's boring, and super unoriginal, besides, I want it to match yours."
"You do?" Ant had answered softly.
"How about Snake?" The boy had said a little too excitedly, ignoring Ant's comment. Ant was okay with bugs, but he drew the line at snakes.
"But that's not a bug."
"Huh, you're right. Okay, how about Scorpion?"
"What about Spider?"
The boy's mouth had hung before he had stood up and shook Ant with a smile on his face, "Ant you're a genius! I mean technically they aren't bugs, but, I mean still super cool."
Ant smiled at the his name coming out of the boy's-no Spider's- mouth.
Spider had sat back down with a smile on his face, "Spider" He had said, smiling to himself.
"Spider." Ant had repeated back to him, gazing up at the sun-setting.
"Ant and Spider. Hm, no, Spider and Ant. That's better."
Ant had snorted, and they had sat there for 15 minutes, before Ant's brother had found him, pulling him off the ground and dragging him back to their house telling him how furious their mother was going to be. Ant hadn't had the chance to say goodbye to Spider, but Spider had later told him that that meant that they were meant to see each other again.
Ant was 10.
He felt the breeze on the back of his neck. He felt it on his feet. He was in the woods again.
He had heard a bug scatter around him, and even though it had been pitch black, Ant had looked around and had saw a centipede crawling a little too close to his hand. His night-vision had been one of the only qualities that had showed up so far, and it had been above average for a 10-year old. Ant had spent so much time in these woods that he knew which bugs and which plants could hurt or kill him, and where the best hiding spots were. Slowly, he had inched his hand away from it, trying to make as little sound as possible.
In the distance, Ant had suddenly heard a scream. He had recognized who it was immediately. Preti, his sister, who was only a year younger than him. It had pierced in his ears, ringing as he had tried to ignore her screams as she had cried out for help.
Ant had never felt more like a coward, but his 10 year old self had stayed put, not moving an inch. Suddenly, the screams had stopped. And he knew. He knew. She was gone. Preti, who would always try to cheer him up, who was too innocent for this world, who had never understood why their mother was so strict, and why she would receive these punishments. Ant had felt his body stiffen, and even though it was silent now, it was too loud. He had felt his body shake as tears had fallen down his face, his hand covering his mouth trying to not make any noise.
Ant had felt something crawl on his arm and had found a wolf spider making it's way up. Ant had picked it off and held it in his hands, letting it crawl over his hands, letting it comfort him. He had known it could've bitten him, but somehow, spiders never found the interest in biting him, which was good, since he loved picking them up. It reminded him of Spider, like he was there with him. Ant had fallen asleep soon after that, with the wolf spider still crawling on him, and when he had woken up, it had been settled in the crook of his palm. Ant had named it Preti, after his sister, and had brought it home after his mom came out to retrieve him and the rest of his siblings from the woods. He had managed to keep her hidden for over a year, and had made her a little home in the corner of his room. He would talk to her at night, even if she wasn't there, bringing him the comfort of both Preti and Spider at once.
After that night, Ant had brought back a spider every time he had a trial out in the woods, for each of his siblings that he lost. One day, his parents had found over 10 different type of spiders crawling in his room, to which they had screamed at him before cleaning out his entire room, getting rid of them. It had felt like his siblings dying all over again. That night, he had fallen asleep with no spider to talk to, before he had felt something crawl on his arm. He had looked down, and found Preti, the first of many wolf spiders he had found in the woods. He cried that night until he heard the birds chirping, he cried for the spiders, for his siblings, for Preti, and for himself. He never brought back another spider from the woods again.
Ant was 14.
Ant had been walking over to Spider's Manor with a tarantula in a basket. He had found it in the woods and had decided to give it to Spider. He knew it wasn't technically a spider, but Spider never seemed to mind, as long as it had 8 pairs of legs, he associated it with his name.
Ant had let himself in, he knew Spider didn't mind, besides, his manor was so big that sometimes he wouldn't hear Ant knock, so they had agreed that Ant should just walk in instead of waiting outside in the sun waiting for Spider.
Once he had walked in, the first thing he had noticed was Spider pacing in the middle of the walk way. Spider had looked up, a nervous expression on his face, before visible relief settled over his face as he saw Ant.
"Hi."
"Hi," Ant had lifted his hand that was carrying the basket, "I brought you a present."
Spider had smirked, "Are you asking me out on a picnic date?"
"Fuck off. Just take it will you?"
Spider had smiled softly, before walking over and taking the basket and opening it. Immediately, the tarantula had crawled out and started making his way up Spider's arm, crawling up his neck and into his hair. Spider had taken the tarantula out of his hair and in his hands. It had tried to crawl up Spider's arm again, and he had laughed and played with it before he had let it crawl up his arm, smiling up at Ant. Ant melted, and had made his new secret mission to make Spider smile all the time.
"Thank you."
Ant had shrugged like it was nothing, "I just found him in the woods, I figured you would like him."
"Like him? Ant I love him," Spider had said as he had taken Ant into a hug. Ant had stiffen before loosing up in Spider's arms. He had wrapped his arms around Spider as his tummy did mini backflips and his heart felt like it was about to explode. Why was he feeling like this? He had hugged Spider many times before. Why did it seem like such a big deal all of a sudden? Once Spider had pulled back, Ant had felt like some part of him was missing.
"I'm going to name him Webs." Spider had declared, and Ant had agreed with him, although he thought he would've had probably agreed with anything Spider could've had said right there and then.
Ant had spent the rest of his day trying to figure out why he had felt like throwing up the sun whenever Spider had looked at him earlier that day, and only a couple of days later he had realized.
He was in love with his best friend. How could he not be.
Spider POV:
23:13 (11:13 PM)
Spider had been nervously bouncing his leg up and down waiting for Ant to wake up. He had cleaned up his face, from where the blood had run down, and then there had been nothing else to do but wait.
The first thing he noticed was Ant's breath hitching, and becoming uneven. The second was that his skin had gotten considerably warmer, where he was holding hand. He quickly let go of it, not wanting Ant to wake up to them holding hands. Spider watched as Ant's eyelids fluttered open, taking in his beauty. Suddenly Ant jerked up, a terrified look on his face, and started breathing hard. Spider reached to Ant, in attempt to calm him down, but Ant flinched back, before another look of terror crossed his face as he realized Spider was there. Spider saw tears forming in Ant's eyes and his breathing started becoming more and more scarce as he attempted to take normal breaths.
"Ant, Ant. Listen to my voice. You're okay. You're safe, okay?" He looked at Ant, not breaking eye contact, making sure that Ant was believing every word he was saying. Spider remembered his own transformation clearly, he had also been in distress when he had woken, only there had been no one there to help him. He was going to make sure Ant would het all the support he didn't have.
"Can I-" He paused looking at Ant, "Is it okay if I touch you?" Ant gave a small nod and Spider immediately closed the space in between them, taking Ant in his arms, "You're okay," He kept on repeating, stroking Ant's hair. He could feel Ant's tears soaking in his shirt, but he didn't care. All he cared about was making sure Ant felt safe.
They stayed like that in silence for a couple of minutes before Ant started peeling himself off of Spider.
"Sorry-" Ant started but Spider cut him off, "Don't apologize."
"Sorry." Ant said again and Spider glared at him.
"I know you probably have a million questions, but what the fuck happened?"
Ant stayed quiet.
"Ant?"
"I'm not really sure, but, I think I just died."
Spider rolled his eyes, "Yeah, no shit, but how?"
"I think," Ant paused.
"Ant?"
"I think your ancestor- Amelia- Just murdered me."

Amelia Vaughn White POV:
11:35 (11:35 AM)
Amelia was walking down the walkway made of cobblestones and gravel when the bell rang out in the village. She looked around as people started running North, where smoke had started creeping out in between the roof of the town house. She let people rush past her with buckets, some already filled with water and others empty. She could've gone and helped, but she had more pressing matters to attend to. She stepped off the path and made her way in between tiny passageways behind the houses. She heard a noise behind her and turned around, hand in her bag ready to defend herself, but she was met with Agatha, her cat. Well, he wasn't technically hers, but she had coined him when people started trying to kill him. These idiots in the village truly believed that black cats were bad luck. She knelt down to pet his neck as he purred.
"Hello, Agatha," She crooned as he meowed, "Come on, let's go home," She said as she picked him up, with arguing meows coming from him, and continued her way out the village. She thought about actually going home, but decided against it. She did not want to deal with her mother and father. She skipped down the paths until she arrived at the edge of town, stopping short in front of the forest. There had been rumors that werewolves would roam in these woods, but Amelia knew that it was only during full moons, and tonight was a new moon. The people in her village were fairly idiotic, she had noticed that -which was one of the reasons was she was the towns black sheep- she would provide factual information, but instead of listening to her they would believe the myths and legends that have been passed down through generations rather than her very factual facts. People often called her insane, and sometimes, even the word witch was thrown out, but she never let it get to her, if anything, they were just stating the obvious.
She had noticed that she was different at the ripe age of 6, when she had made it rain, but no one had believed it. So that night, little had been Amelia throwing a tantrum in front of her mom about how she had changed the weather, but none of the kids at church had believed her. Her mother had suddenly turned pale, and had told Amelia that she couldn't speak of this to anyone, for the Vaughn's were a pure family and wouldn't have a witch in the family, to which Amelia asked her if she was a witch and her Mother had slapped her- Amelia had understood later the real reason why her mom didn't want her to tell anyone, the only way for you to be a witch was for it to be genetically passed down. And no one else in their family had that gene, not even her mother.
She had kept it quiet, but that didn't mean she didn't fun either. She enjoyed messing with the town-people, especially with how idiotic their responses would be, always looking up to a God in a sky, begging for the drought to end, or for the water to stop being contaminated, while she was standing in the back of the room, spell casted over the village, watching God turn Their back on the people, all while she was holding Their hand in a deal.
Amelia marked the trees as she stepped through the woods. Agatha was walking next to her, occasionally climbing up the trees before running back to Amelia's side. As the woods got thicker, the light from the sun started dimming, so she had to take out her oil lamp from her bag. She lit it and kept on walking.
Before she knew it, she arrived in front of a log cabin. Today was the day. She was going to be immortal. Truly immortal, not one of her cheap tricks out of one of her spell books.
Tobias had told her to meet up with him here at 11:45, and even though she was early, she knew he was already in the cabin. He would always be waiting for her.
She walked up to the door, and rested her hand on the cracks in the wood, the cracks that she would fix over and over again, and when she had asked Tobias why he wouldn't want her to put a spell on the cabin so it never weathers, he had answered short and simple, 'I want it to be authentic, normal. Nothing like us, so we can be the only thing in this world that have power." She had smiled and kissed him, and promised to never ever fix the cracks again.
Amelia sighed, remembering that day, that was day Tobias had proposed. No, not the regular ring on finger proposal, their proposal was more... special.
She took the door handle in her hands and pushed it down opening the door, stepping inside.
"You were right Tobias, the fire real-" Amelia stopped mid sentenced, as she was met with the most horrific scene. She tried to wrap her head at the scene in front of her, Tobias, her Tobias, with another woman, both in the sheets of hers and Tobias' sheets. Those were theirs. The whore that was in bed with Tobias had two bite marks above her collarbone, with blood running down her neck. This wasn't real. Tobias had promised her. He was hers. Not some whore who got her blood in him. No. This was not happening. This wasn't happening, it wasn't-
"Amelia-" Tobias started but his mouth was sewn shut almost immediately. She had always had a talent for wordless magic. The whore looked in shock over at her and Amelia couldn't even refrain her snort. She wasn't frightened by a vampire but by a witch? Alright. Amelia could make her frightened. No. Amelia didn't want her to be frightened of her. She wanted her to be terrified of her. She wanted her to beg on her knees for Amelia's forgiveness.
"What did you do to him you witch?" The whore screamed.
Amelia smiled a cruel smile, "He won't need to talk for this," She walked over to the whore and tilted her chin up so she could get a good look like at her, "You're not even half bad," she tutted, "Shame you're face had to be stained by those freckles, you could've been actually worth something." She let go of the whore's chin a little roughly, but the whore caught her wrist in her hand.
The whore looked at her for a moment before she slowly let go of Amelia's wrist. Amelia smiled a fake smile, then went over to Tobias and cupped his face in her hands.
"Oh Tobias, I thought you loved me, you promised me, you proposed to me," Her voice started to get louder, "I was supposed to be yours, and now, you're here with this whore in our bed! Why? What did I do? Was I not good enough? I kept the cabin clean, Tobias! I kept us clean! I kept you safe! You would be dead if it wasn't for me! Dead!" Outside, the wind started to pick up, she felt through the air and pushed forward, allowing the wind to keep on screaming, echoing the thoughts she couldn't say. "I loved you Tobias." She said through tears. Tobias was muffling something. Amelia rolled her eyes and undid the spell on him. He gasped out loud before looking up at her.
"Amelia-"
Amelia tutted, cutting him off, "'Amelia, I'm sorry,' 'Amelia, you know how much I love you'," She mocks, "Amelia this, Amelia that, it just get's a little tiring don't you think?"
"You don't understand. I don't love you."
Amelia's whole world stopped. Her brain paused. She didn't understand, Tobias had proposed to her. He was supposed to love her.
"I don- I don't understand, what do you-what do- I don't understand. You proposed to me! You're supposed to love me! Why- why can't you- just love me! I don-"
"Look at yourself Amelia! You're insane! You. Are. Unlovable. What- did you really think I loved you? Come on, I know you're not stupid, who in their right mind would love you?" He gave her a look of false pity, "I never loved you, I just needed a way to walk outside in the day, and a fresh supply of blood, which I'll admit, you helped a great deal with that, but I found my bond, Amelia, I found love that you could never understand."
Amelia couldn't move. How had she been so stupid? She should've known. No. She didn't care. He might of had used her but that didn't mean she wouldn't still use him.
"Bond?" She asked, innocently.
"It's stupid vampire lore-"
"How come I didn't know about this?"
Tobias huffed, "I don't know Amelia, maybe because I was just using you?"
"So what, you bonded with this whore," She says not even looking at the girl on their bed, "And now your soulmates? That's so stupid I can't even begin to explain,"
"I didn't believe in it either, I mean nothing ever happened when it was you, but you know my family tradition, and ton-"
"No."
"What."
"No. You were supposed to turn me! Not some- some stupid whore you met two minutes ago!"
Tobias laughed, he laughed, "You call her a whore one more time and I will rip your neck out. You forget yourself Amelia. I could rip you apart in less than a second."
It was Amelia's turn to laugh, "I forget myself? Tobias I've forgotten who I was years ago. You however forget where you stand. In my shadow. I take off your lovely sun-proof spell and you're gone. I'm the reason you're alive. And I can make that change in less than a blink of an eye." Before he could say- or do- anything else she mobilized him. She smiled as the wind whistled outside, and soon enough, rain started pattering down on the roof of the cabin. Lightning cracked somewhere of in the distance and she let the electricity running through the air to run through her body, giving her more strength, as she started murmuring an incantation. She let her fury take over her, her sadness, her rage, her jealousy, her desire, her happiness, her envy. Any and every emotion that has passed through her body through her life. Love. Hate. Anger. Happiness. Stress. Excitement. She thought about her mother, who had always denied who Amelia was, always forcing her to be someone else, too ashamed of her own mistakes- including Amelia. She thought of her father, who had taken advantage of her ever since she was little. She was going to get her happily ever after. She was going to get the power she always wanted. She had sacrificed too much, gone through too much suffering for it to be thrown away by some stupid prolific vampire lore that was probably not even true.
She felt wind and rain in her hair and looked up, the roof of the cabin had been blown away, and items were flying around everywhere.
"Amelia! Please stop!"
She rolled her eyes, she hadn't sealed his mouth shut this time, and she tried to ignore his screams as he pleaded for her to stop. She murmured a spell under her breath and immediately, she had control of Tobias. She commanded him with her mind to walk over to her.
"This could've gone so much differently, Tobias, if you hadn't just gone and laid in bed with that whore. We could've been us. For the end of times." She sighed, of course he wasn't going to answer, she had him under her spell after all, "Alright come here," And she commanded him to bite his own flesh and watch in marvel as his own fangs pierced his own skin instead of hers for once. His brought his wrist up to her mouth, and she took it like she was cradling a new born baby, before pressing her lips to it, not breaking eye contact with him. She felt his blood run down her throat and she threw her head back, as her mind spiraled, "See Tobias?" She could feel his blood running down her mouth, "It was that easy." In the distance she heard a sob and turn to see the whore Tobias had laid with starting to choke. It seemed that she was choking on blood. She grinned from ear to ear and turned to Tobias.
"Tell me what you know about this vampire bond." She commanded.
"Every vampire has one," He stated with a monotone voice, "They spend eternity looking for them. Once they've drank their blood, they're bonded and have to turn the non-vampire into one by the next new moon, or else they'll both die." He said before stopping.
Amelia cackled. She quite literally cackled, before she realized that that meant Tobias was going to die as well.
"No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no- No!" She yelled as the rain started poring down harder. "NO!" She threw things, she pushed things off, letting them go out in storm, "This is all your fault!" She said, grabbing the girl by her neck, "Yours! You stole him! You killed him! You did this! All of you vampires and your stupid bonds!" Amelia let go of the girls neck and fell down on the floor, tears running down her face, "Why couldn't if be me? Why not me!? What did I do wrong?" She sobbed on the floor, then felt something sharp cut through her lower abdomen. She looked down, face stained of tears and saw a piece of wood sticking out her stomach. She looked up and saw that fucking whore holding the other end, before twisting the shard of wood. Amelia cried out in pain, rain mixing with her tears and blood. "You will pay for this." She whispered through a hoarse voice, "I will haunt you forever, and I will make sure you all die."
"You first bitch," The whore said driving the piece of wood deeper in her. Now that was just mean. Amelia felt lightheaded as she brought her hands in front of her. They were covered in blood, and with the rain slowing down, it wasn't washing off. And she knew. She knew what she would do. She wouldn't die like this, by the hands of a dirty whore, no, she would not die. It was risky, she had never done this type of magic before, but it could be the only way to save both her and Tobias. Blood magic.
She concentrated the amount of power she had left on the blood leaving her body, using it as energy to feed off, it was dangerous, one wrong miscalculation and she would just kill herself, but if things went correctly, she would win. She looked up at the whore and smiled, "See you in hell, bitch," She winked before driving her entire body forward, driving the other end of the stick into the girl's body. The thing about blood magic was that you could use your own blood, just not when you were bleeding out like she was. No in her case she would have to merge her blood with the whore's to make this work. The girl looked down at her before looking back up at Amelia, eyes full of betrayal. She's already dying, Amelia thought, good. Amelia put her hands on the piece of wood and twisted it, turning it inside the both of them, they both cried out in pain but she knew this was going to be worth it in the end, she would win.
Amelia concentrated as she felt the wind pick up again, if she lost her control spell on Tobias, he could attack her, but if she lost her weather spell, she wouldn't have anything to draw power from. She opened her eyes and saw girl had gone limp on the shard, not dead. Yet. She reached across and plunged her hand inside the girl, twisting her hand against her blood. Amelia started new incantations, mixed with the weather one's as she watched the girl's blood fuse with hers across the shard of wood impaling the both of them. Her incantations grew louder as the storm picked up again, giving her more power to draw from. She felt the electricity course through her skin as lightening stuck down around her. She opened her eyes and noticed that the cabin had caught fire. She closed them again and focused her energy on it, allowing it to grow through the forest.
She opened her eyes to the most spectacular scene, the cabin Tobias had built her for her, up in flames, the girl gone completely limp on the other end of the shard, head hung low, and Tobias, in a corner, surrounded by flames reaching almost as high as the trees in the forest that were also slowly catching fire. She raised her hands and continued her incantations while opening up an entrance the circle of flames surrounding Tobias so she could command Tobias to come forward. He marched slowly toward her before finally reaching her, his eyes flicked to the whore, and she commanded him to look at her. He brought his arm forward and cut it on the shard still impaling her and the girl, and Amelia had only a few seconds to marvel before she focused again and fused all three of their blood together. She whispered her final incantations as the wind and thunder screamed it back at her, before she plunged in darkness.
Present day
Ant POV:
23:13 (11:13 PM)
Ant chewed his lip nervously.
"What?"
"Amelia, your-"
"Yes I know, " Spider cut him off, "What do you mean she just murdered you? She's- I mean she's never-"
"Spider."
Spider's mouth shut and his eyes fell on Ant.
"I just don't understand." Spider whispered.
Ant sighed, "Too many things have happened in the span of one day," He said holding his head in hands. He heard Spider snort and peaked and eye at him. He was looking down at the floor, and Ant noticed he still had blood in the corner of his mouth. Ant raised his hand to wipe it off but stopped mid way when he realized that that was his blood.
He dropped his hand, bringing Spider's attention back to him. His eyes wandered over Ant before meeting his eyes to his.
"Ant, earlier today," Spider paused, looking worried, "When you, um, almost died," Spider started fidgeting with his hands and all Ant wanted to was to reach over and take them in his, but he couldn't bring himself to, "Well you know, I gave you my blood -'cause you were dying- and it healed you, I mean obviously that's what it's supposed to do," Ant furrowed his brows, Where was Spider going with this?, "And well, vampire blood stays in your system for 24 hours." Spider looked up at him with a guilt. Ant's frowned deepened, before grasping at what Spider was trying to tell him. Ant's brain stopped. His body went numb. This was not happening.
"Spider."
"Ant-"
"Don't say it."
Spider started at him before sighing, "Okay. But you are going to have to feed. Like soon."
Ant shook his head, "No. Spider stop."
"Ant I'm so sorry-"
"No. Don't you dare, you did this to me."
"I was trying to save you!"
Ant looked at Spider with sad eyes, he couldn't do this right now, not with the flashbacks fresh in his mind.
"Why? Why didn't you just let me die?"
Spider eye's widen in shock in disbelief, "Let you die? Ant did you not get the memo if me kissing and biting you that I've loved you ever since I've met you?!" Spider shut his mouth abruptly looking even more shocked than before, "Wait, Ant-"
Ant's heart stopped, before staring again twice as fast. Spider loved him. He loved him. Ant couldn't stop the smile from growing on his face.
"You love me?" Ant asked quietly. He tried meeting Spider's gaze but Spider wouldn't look at Ant.
Spider opened and closed his mouth before answering after a beat of silence, "I didn't mean to say that." He said so quietly Ant thought he misheard him.
They both stayed quiet for a while before Ant finally spoke.
"I, I also-"
"Don't. Don't. Because I know you're only saying that to not make me sad, but I can't have you say it when it's not true."
"Not true? In case you hadn't tell, but the kiss was a mutual thing."
Spider ran his hand over his face before standing up.
"Where are you going?" Ant asked, also standing up swaying from being lightheaded, he felt... hungry.
Spider turned around and looked at Ant for the first time since he told Ant he loved him, "Look, you're not thinking correctly, I remember my transformation- and no matter how much you don't want to talk about, you can't avoid for ever- but your brain gets foggy, I just," he sighed, "rest and then feed, you'll feel better." Spider looked at Ant one last time before turning and walking towards the door.
"Is it really that hard to believe that someone loves you?" Spider stopped short in his tracks, Ant took a breath before continuing, "I know you never had a loving family, or at least, they never showed it, considering the were never home. I know you think your unlovable, and that you cover it up with your cockiness and meanness thinking that if you gave people a reason to hate you, then your parents not loving you would be justified. But your not, unlovable, that is. Because, fuck Spider, I started to love you. So no, you're not unlovable because you're loved by me. And if nobody loved you then I would have to be dead, I mean, even then, I couldn't stop loving you. Even in death, my love for you would live on from the flowers that would grow from my rotting body. I could never not love you Spider, and to be frank, I'm thinking clearer than usually, and I may not know much much but I know you, I know me, and I know that I love you, and that I'm also really fucking hungry, and really tired of you telling me how I feel and I really really want to kiss you again."
Spider had turned around halfway though Ant's speech and he was now standing in front of Ant. No one talked for a minute and Ant felt his whole skin itching.
"Spider say something."
Spider looked at Ant sadly, "What do you want me to say?"
Ant felt tears in his eyes, "I don't know, just,"
"I- I'm sorry Ant, but, I can't-"
"So what, was it not true what you said about loving me?"
Spider huffed and threw his hands in the air, "No, I- It was, it's just, what are we going to do? Okay, we both like each other, but, I mean, what are we going to be together?-"
"Why not?"
"Ant. You don't want to be with me-"
"See! You're always doing this! You're always telling me how I should feel! If I want to be with you, then that's my decision. Not yours."
"I'm not a good enough for you! I mean you deserve someone so much better than me!"
"I don't want someone better! I want you."
Spider said nothing and for a moment Ant thought he was going to leave, but then he was in front of Ant, holding Ant's face in his hands, "Tell me to go." He whispered, "Tell me to leave. Please Ant."
Ant shook his head softly, "Stay."
Spider brought his face closer to Ant's, stopping just before Ant's lips, "Tell me to stop," He whispered against Ant's lips, "tell me to stop and I will."
"Don't stop. I don't want you to stop."
"You'll be the death of me," Spider said, and Ant was about to respond but Spider closed off the space between them, taking Ant's lips in between his. Ant's mind stopped, this was what he had needed his entire life. Spider, caught between his lips. Ant closed his eyes and let his hands run into Spider's hair, when he felt an urge to drive his teeth in Spider's neck. That's when he realized that he hadn't drank yet. Because he was a vampire. Yeah Ant didn't want to acknowledge it, but that didn't mean he didn't have a force in him driving him to drink blood. Ant pulled back and Spider made a whining noise in protest, following Ant's lips.
"Spider." Ant said sternly, and Spider immediately pulled away, looking concerned. His hair was completely messed up and his face was flushed. He looked beautiful.
"Oh shit, Ant, your fangs are coming out."
"No really." Ant said flatly, his eyes not leaving Spider's neck.
"Okay, hold on, we can go out in town,-"
"Spider."
"-And I'll find you someone, I'll help you, I know your first time is super stressful-"
"Spider."
"-But we'll get through this together, and I'll help you-"
"Spider."
Spider stopped talking, his eyes wandering over Ant's face.
"I can't wait."
Spider frowned, but Ant continued.
"Is this how you felt, earlier today, when you bit me." Spider's frowned deepened before his eyes widened as he got what Ant was trying to say.
Spider brought his body closer to Ant's, and tugged down on his shirt, revealing his flesh, shiny and silky and ready for Ant's fangs to pierce through it.
"Are you sure-" Ant started but Spider cut him off.
"Yes. It's only fair, after all, I did bite you first," He whispered.
Ant bit his lip, Spider was offering, and Ant was really fucking hungry. Without another thought, Ant bit in Spider's throat, feeling the first drops of blood tingle on his lips. He inhaled sharply as he licked the blood off Spider's neck, drinking as Spider's hands made their way to Ant's hair, tangled in between the strands of hair, tugging on them. The wind started howling outside, and somehow they ended up in Ant's bed, tangled in his sheets, their blood mixing as they gave their bodies to each other. Spider grounding him as Ant allowed himself to be taken above the stars, to a place where him and Spider could admire each other without the world crashing down on them, just the two of them, mixed in a sea of love and blood. As they both finished, Ant breathing heavily next to Spider, Ant looked through his window, the moon shone bright back at him. He closed his eyes trying to forget the memories that had resurfaced just a few hours ago.
He felt Spider's arm wrap around his waist, bringing him closer, "What's wrong?" He asked against Ant's skin.
Ant thought about lying, but he felt too tired and exhausted to even form a lie, "When I, died. I saw these," he paused, not sure how to word it, "Memories of sorts." He said, as he turned to face Spider. Spider looked so beautiful that Ant wanted to kiss him, but he felt as if the weight of the world was holding him down in place, or rather the weight of his mother.
"They weren't all bad, most of them were of you actually," He said, as Spider rubbed circles in the palm of his hand, "But, I, had some- they- it was just you know, the trials my parents would put us through. It's nothing really, I mean I'm over-"
But Ant didn't get to finish as Spider hugged him, tight and grounding Ant as he let himself be held, "I'm so sorry Ant. I am so, so sorry you had to relive that," He said as he held Ant, not letting him go. Ant felt tears come to his eyes as let himself lose himself to Spider.
"I miss her so much." He managed to get out, "I was such a coward that day- I could've done something, but I just stood there- It should've been me- my parents had expected it to be me, so why wasn't it me? Why did it have to be her?" He choked out, tears running down his face.
"None of you guys deserved that, but it's not your fault Ant." Spider pulled back, but Ant stayed close to him, "You did what you had to do to survive, I mean, fuck Ant- nobody should have to go through that, you're allowed to feel sad about it," He said as he ran his hand through Ant's hair, "You're allowed to mourn them. You're allowed to miss them. They didn't deserve that, but neither did you. I just- I hate that you blame yourself for their deaths, I know you can't help it, but it wasn't your fault."
Ant stayed silent listening to Spider's heartbeat like metronome beating just for him. He thought about all his siblings that he lost, and all the ones now that were suffering the same pain he suffered through the years, when he realized, his parents were never going to stop. They were going to keep on putting them through stupid trials, in order to get them ready for either life or death. And for the first time, Ant didn't feel sad, he felt mad. Mad at his parents, mad at himself, mad at life for putting him in that stupid family, mad at the woods, at his bedroom, at his siblings, at everything. He immediately felt ashamed, what was thinking, those were his parents, they had done what was his best for him. They had kept him alive. But then he thought of Preti, beautiful and innocent Preti, why hadn't his parents kept her alive? Why him? Why him? Why him?
"What are you thinking about?" He heard Spider say, taking him out of his thoughts.
Ant though for a minute, "I want them to suffer. I want to kill them."
Spider pulled back from Ant so he could look at him, "Are you sure?" He asked, but Ant noticed his lips curling upwards in the corner.
"Yes."
Spider grinned like a mad man, "Well, I thought the day was never going to come."
"Spider. How long have you been wanting to kill my parents?"
"You don't want to know. But hey, I'll help you, unless you want to do it on your own of course,"
"No, no, I definitely want to do it with you."
"Great. It's a date" Spider added grinning.
Ant laughed to himself and shook his head, "You're insane."
"But you love me." Spider said, kissing the top of Ant's head.
"Yeah, I do."
Spider grinned even wider- which Ant didn't think was possible- as he held Ant tighter.
Ant noticed that wind had picked up even more, and was growing louder, when he realized that it wasn't coming from outside. It was shrieking from inside. Ant recognized those shrieks. "Spider." He said, as Spider sat up.
"Ant do you hear that? It sounds like it's coming fro-"
"It's Amelia."

Tobias White POV:
12:45 (12:45 PM)
Tobias didn't know where he was. He knew his location. He didn't know where his mind was. Memories were a bundle, coming and going, some his, some he didn't recognize, other's felt like a distant dream. He knew who he was. He was Tobias. He knew who he was. He didn't know where Tobias was. Tobias had left, leaving the shell of his body, roaming around, an empty and hollow shell. His loved one, Amelia, was laying on his bed. He had found her passed out in the cabin he had made for her, but he didn't know why. He knew deep down something was wrong, like she was an illusion. His brain was telling him that he loved her, but he couldn't help but feel like he was loving a fake image of someone. But didn't he love her? Wasn't he going to marry her?
He was sitting by her, his hand in hers. In two days they were getting married, and the painters were coming tomorrow to add her to the family line of portraits. His body felt excited, but he didn't. Where was he? Where was Tobias?
19:45 (7:45 PM)
Time move slowly. Time moved fast. It moved in flashed of memories. What was today? Has it been tomorrow? Will it be yesterday? Where was he? Amelia had woken up earlier that day, and she had seemed as lovely as ever, never letting go of Tobias' hand, like if she did, he would run away. Maybe he already has. Maybe that's why he can't find Tobias. Because he ran away.
October 15, 1666
21:45 (9:45 PM)
Tobias had married the love his life. At least, the shell of Tobias had. His newly wife was standing before him, waiting for the final binding. The turning. She was piercing him down with her eyes, waiting for him. Tobias lifted his arm and bit himself. He watched the blood pool out from his wrist as Amelia quickly grabbed it and brought her mouth to it. He felt like he has been here before. Where was he? He felt like something was wrong. Something was wrong. But this was what he had to do. He could do this last thing. He would be free.
Amelia POV:
21:45 (9:45 PM)
Something was wrong. Amelia felt ill. Her insides were burning. What had gone wrong? She had done everything perfectly. Tobias loved her now. They were married. She was about to become immortal. Why was it not working. She crumbled to the floor in pain, feeling like every one of her veins were about to explode. Her spell had worked out, so why was this happening? It had been her first try at blood magic. There had always been rumors that it would consume you, burn your blood from the inside out, but how naïve had she been to ignore them. No. Amelia was not dying. Not after everything she's gone through. She was not fucking dying. All this was that whore's fault and her stupid bond. Curse every vampire bond out there, Amelia was going to make sure none of them would get their happily after. No one. If she couldn't get it, then no one would. She would forever haunt all of them, torment them, until they died a slow and painful death. As she felt herself slipping away, she casted one last spell, a curse on the soulmates of the rest of the White's heirs. They would all die. Every. Last. One. Of. Them.

Chapter Text
Present day
Spider POV:
24:37 (12:37 PM)
Spider was in complete darkness. He could feel Ant next to him, he could feel his body on Ant's bed, he felt himself in Ant's room, but he wasn't there. He couldn't see Ant. He couldn't see himself. Where the hell am I? He tried calling out to Ant, but no sound came out of his mouth, just the silent screaming of his mind echoing in the darkness. Did I do this? He thought. He tried to wrap his head around what Ant had told him, about Amelia. Was she doing this? If so Spider swore he was going to murder her. -Again. Spider had to think of plan to get out of this impetuous darkness. He tried to run around, to scratch at the walls, but there was no floor for his feet to carry him across, no walls for him to cling to, just emptiness. Where the fuck was he?
Ant POV:
24:37 (12:37 PM)
Ant couldn't see anything beyond his own two hands. He should've known, he knew what Amelia sounded like, he didn't know why he had ignored her first screams. Maybe if he hadn't, they would've never gotten into this mess. But Ant was not going to feel guilty for this, he had spent most of his life guilty for things that weren't his fault, and he's had enough. What was in the past was in the past.
Suddenly, he saw a light in the distance, his eyes narrowed, trying to get a better look, but he couldn't see anything more. Well, there's only forward now, although in the dark, he could've been going backwards and wouldn't have known it.
As Ant got closer, he realized he was walking towards a person. No, no a person. A ghost. Amelia. She was genuinely pretty, with soft brown eyes- kind of like Ant's- and freckles dotting around them as if she was touched by the sun. Her hair was long and braided into two braids that met in the middle, held together by what looked like vines, but Ant had never seen that specific type of plant. Ant felt like it was fake, gilded, almost as if something was rotten inside. Maybe it was. Amelia eyed him carefully, and Ant suddenly felt like he was standing naked in front of an audience of over 2,000 people. She pursed her lips as if contemplating something. Ant didn't know if he should talk- he didn't even know if he could, but any word that could've made it out his mouth vanished from his brain as she examined him. She grabbed his chin, twisting his face in an uncomfortable way, like she was trying to see something that wasn't there. Finally, she let him go, face twisted in disgust. She looked at him and he returned her gaze, two could play a game.
Amelia's eyes were hard and cold and her features were tight, like they had been pulled back and sewed messily.
"So, darling." She said, her voice high and even, not letting go of Ant's gaze, "You're the one that manage to evade my curse." It wasn't a question, and she said like she was surprised someone as weak as him actually achieved something- but this was not the first time Ant had received this treatment, and he knew all too well what it was like to expect nothing but failure from him, and be ignored when he succeeded.
"How did you do it?" She asked her voice cold and stern, but it didn't sound like she was asking, and Ant couldn't help the words tumbling out of his mouth before he could catch them and stuff them back in.
"I don't know." His voice felt raw, an his throat dry, he tried swallowing, feeling a little better, "I didn't even know there was a curse."
Amelia laughed, high pitched and mocking, like he had just cracked the funniest joke before catching her breath and looking at him again.
"Don't play stupid with me, Anthony, I want to know how you managed to do it."
Ant couldn't hide the surprise from his face at her knowing his name- he remembered though how earlier she had been the one calling him, but that been 'Ant', her saying his full name made him feel cold. It reminded him of his mother.
"I'm serious, I don't.. I don't know anything about a curse."
She seemed to consider what he was saying for a moment, before letting a breath of anger out, clearly being able to tell that Ant wasn't lying. She stated pacing back and forth, murmuring words that didn't quite reach to Ant's ears.
"You're Amelia. Aren't you?" Ant had no idea where the courage was coming from, but while he was here he might as well get answers.
She stopped and looked at him like he just broke one of her ancestor's artifact that had been passed down through generations. Her expression switched to amusement, and she answered waving her hand around, "Yes. Wasn't it obvious?"
"You look different." Ant said, "From the painting, I mean."
Her eyes narrowed like she was bewildered that he was actually initiating a conversation with her.
"I suppose. I wasn't.. fully myself, that day," she answered with a wicked smile showing all her teeth.
Ant suppressed a shiver, and nodded, staying silent, before another question popped into his head, "What are you?"
"What do you mean darling?" She asked, almost innocently, although her tone was nothing just.
"Well, Spider said-" He felt his mouth seal shut, almost as if it had disappeared, as he found that he couldn't speak anymore. Amelia's eyes had grown hard and she was in his face now, her face creased with fury.
"Do not speak his name! I don't want to hear about him, about your pathetic boyfriend, I don't want to here about any of them!" She screamed, her hair lifting slightly above her head, as if a lightning was about to strike down any moment.
Ant tried to respond, but all that came out were muffled noises, and she sighed, before backing away and waving her hand.
He felt the air touch inside his mouth and tried not to cough as regained his ability of speech- which he had apparently lost.
"He's not my boyfriend," He said hoarsely.
"What?" She asked as if she hadn't heard him.
Ant regain stability, his voice back to normal, "Spider," Her eyes narrowed, but he continued, "He isn't my boyfriend- well, at least not yet," He added smiling, looking down at his feet, feeling giddy like a little kid.
"Oh shut up." He heard Amelia snort, "What, you really think that he likes you?" She laughed maniacally, "He doesn't! Because why would he? He's probably going to find some fucking whore to bed and leave you all alone! It'll last a month, at least, and then, the fights will start, then the silence, then the secrets, and I will be happily watching from above." She grinned like a mad man, and for a moment, Ant believed her, believed everything she said, like he'd believed everything his mother has said. He looked at her, really looked at her, and saw another emotion beside her anger and fury- and insaneness- he saw rage, pure jealous rage.
"Oh"
Amelia's eyes bulged out, "What do you mean 'oh'?"
"Why? Why would he do that?"
"Because he's a man! That's what they do! They give you hope steal it back from you, because they're cruel, and evil, and they have all these fucking rules until it's someone else and then 'Oh no! Those rules don't matter anymore'! because that's what men fucking do!"
Ant thought about it, but he could not figure out what the hell she was talking about. He had one last question he needed to ask.
"Why am I here?"
He knew he wasn't dead- even though he was literally conversing with a ghost (maybe witch????)- because he knew what death felt like. He knew too well.
Amelia seethed and pointed a pointy finger in his face, "You- You should be dead! My spell should've worked! It should've worked and you should've been fucking dead by now! But my beloved great-great- whatever grandson decided to bond early! And now you're here, alive."
Ant cut her off- "Wait, wait, wait- What bond?"
Spider POV:
1:03 (1:03 AM)
Spider was pretty sure he had gone insane. One second he and Ant were in Ant's bed, and the next he was in utter darkness- and now he was being blinded by light before looking around and realizing he was back in Ant's bed. He guessed his body didn't go anywhere, but that didn't stop the fact that he had been in nothingness for- he looked at a clock on the wall- 26 minutes? He felt disoriented before he felt something move next to him- and he heard a groan like someone was waking up. Ant.
"Spider?" And oh, Spider could've listened to Ant's voice for the rest of his life, but for now, he just wanted to make sure he was safe.
"Hey," He rubbed his eyes, before looking at Ant, "I'm guessing you were just plunged into eternal darkness as well?" He joked as if he hadn't been this close to going insane.
"Yeah, you could say that," Ant said, running a hand through his hair.
Spider chewed on his bottom lip, "You okay?"
"Yeah. Sort of."
"Sort of?"
"I-I saw her. Amelia. We... talked."
"You talked?"
"Mhm, and- I might of-"
"Ant." Spider said, "What the hell did you do?"
Ant looked at him guiltily, and all Spider wanted to do was hold him tight, "I killed her- well, I know she was already dead, but she was a ghost and so she wasn't fully dead. I just, completed the process."
Spider sucked a breath in trying to understand, "Completed the process?"
"She was stuck, due to this spell, I don't know the legistics or anything 'cause I'm not a witch but, yeah."
"Huh."
"Sorry."
"For what?"
"Killing your great-great-something grandmother."
Spider couldn't help the soft laugh bubbling out of him, and before he knew it, they were both laughing.
"Well to be fair," He said once they had calmed themselves down, "She did try to kill you first."
"And succeeded," Ant added- which was not helping because Spider hated to think about how Ant had literally just died.
"Yeah well, you're here now," He said, grinning, Ant returning it. Spider took Ant's hand in his, "So, how are we going to kill your parents?"
Ant POV:
5:15 (5:15 AM)
Ant and Spider had been going over the plan for hours now. Spider had formulated a plan, Ant adding ideas and telling him certain entrances that no one bothered checking, and the overall schedule of the house, although it could've had changed since Ant left.
Now Spider was slightly dozing off on Ant's shoulder trying to stay awake.
"Spider?"
Spider hummed in response, moving his face into the crook of Ant's neck and Ant smiled to himself- he would've never predicted in a million years that Spider would've liked him back, and that they would be in like this- together, supporting each other physically and emotionally. Although Ant did have to remind himself the other situation they were in, and yeah, Ant wouldn't've been able to predict that one either.
"You should sleep."
"You should sleep." Spider mumbled back.
Ant laughed quietly to himself and guided Spider back to their bed- all while he whined about not even being that tired. Ant had to admit that he was also tired, after all, so much had happened over the span of barely 2 days- it felt like it had been years since he had ended up on Spider's door step covered in blood. He lay Spider down before going around the bed and settling in himself, pulling the covers over him and Spider. He turned to say goodnight- even though it was quite early in the morning- but found Spider already sleeping. Smiling, he let himself be pulled by the peaceful feeling of sleep, knowing that he'll be absolutely exhausted tomorrow, after all, he had almost died twice and succeeded one time, it was bound to catch up with him at some point. His eyelids fluttered close and he slipped into the night, Spider by his side.
Spider POV
12:45 (12:45 PM)
Spider woke up with someone stirring next to him. He smiled to himself, wrapping an arm around Ant's waist bringing him closer. He felt Ant turn against him, wrapping his arms around Spider's core, burrowing his face in the crook of Spider's neck. Spider smiled against Ant's hair, pressing a kiss to his forehead. He felt Ant murmur something against his skin. Spider smiled, peeling himself from Ant while he grumbled mindlessly, "What was that?"
Ant rubbed his eyes and looked up at Spider with big soft eyes, Spider was going insane.
"You sleep well?" He asked with a rough voice, Spider wanted to lock it up in the box so no one else but him could listen to it. Spider couldn't resist planting a kiss on Ant's lips. He had so much- too much love for him Spider thought he was going to explode, he didn't know how he had never noticed, the way his gaze lingered on Ant for a little longer than it should, the way he would always look for an excuse to constantly be touching Ant, weather it was just a soft touch behind his back when walking past him, or their fingers lingering too long on each other's when handing each other things. He had always been physically close to Ant, as well as emotionally- he never thought he would've confine so much to a person- his person.
Spider brushed Ant's hair out of his face, "Yeah, you?" Ant nodded, his eyes fluttering close for a moment. He felt Ant's hands run across his skin, like he was mapping out Spider's body and memorizing it. Something crawled in between his legs and he forced himself to untangle from Ant in order to not crush Webs. He heard Ant protest so he planted a quick kiss on his nose before lifting the covers and finding Webs crawling around his leg. He cupped his hands around him and he crawled in, climbing up Spider's arm.
"Remember when you got me him?" Spider asked barely a whisper.
Something distant flashed in Ant's eyes, soft and nostalgic, before a smile crept on his face as reached over to Webs- which gladly started crawling up Ant's arm, "Yeah." He paused, keeping his eyes on Webs, "That's actually when I realized." He finally said.
"Realized what?"
Ant looked up at Spider, "That I loved you." Oh. Love. That was a big word. He knows that he had already told Ant he loved him- and Ant as well, but it felt more intimate right now, more important. It made him feel all soft and fuzzy- Spider was not supposed to be feeling warm and fuzzy. But then he looked at Ant, with those big, brown eyes, looking up at him like there was no one else in this world but them, and Spider welcomed that feeling.
"Oh." Was all he managed to say, though he had so much more more to say, words that the human language couldn't form in order to express his love for Ant, and if he they didn't exist, he would carve them out out out of nothingness, forging them just for Ant's ears and he'll repeat them on end until he ran out of breath. For now, Spider could make Ant feel loved, he could tell him he loved him, do things for him that had never been done for him, and just be there.
"Oh?" Ant asked with an amused expression on his face.
"Well, I just didn't know you liked me for that long, why didn't you do anything about it?"
Ant looked at him like he was crazy, then pouted, "Well I didn't think you'd actually like me back."
Spider smiled, "With a pretty face like yours? How could I resist?"
Ant grinned, "Oh yeah? Go on tell me more about my pretty face."
Spider sighed quite dramatically, looking up that ceiling, "Well I would, but I fear we'd be here all day and night, and well, if I remember correctly, we have plans to do commit a couple of murders, and well I had personal plans to do keep you up tonight, so that won't be possible," He added with a wink.
"Well then, I guess we'll just have to do get it done quickly hm?" Ant said grinning. Spider smiled back at him before kissing him, soft and warm and everything Spider was the opposite of, fitting him perfectly.
They got up and got ready, going over the plan one last time before they both decided to finally get their things ready- they didn't actually need a lot of materials, just themselves, so eventually him and Ant were off walking down the pavement road, hand in hand. None of them were talking, as much as they had both gone over this and as much as Ant had told him that he was fine, Spider understood how stressful this was, how real.
As they started getting closer to Ant's house, he felt Ant slow his steps down, without thinking, like there was something literally keeping him from going back there, and Spider was patient with him, rubbing circles over his palm, not speaking, knowing how Ant was probably a turmoil of thoughts right now. He kept his eyes fixed on Ant the whole time though, so that if Ant needed anything, or showed any signs of a change in mind, Spider would be there and follow him through whatever path he chose.
Soon enough they arrived at the outer fence that surround the woods that surrounded the actual house. He glanced over at Ant and noticed him glancing over at the forest. Was Ant thinking about all those times he had been forced in these woods to survive? How did it feel being back? He hoped that him being here could offer as much support as it could. Ant looked at him, determined look in his eyes, before turning his eyes back to the fence. He said something under his breath before placing his hands on the fence, pulling it apart, it was actually extremely attractive, and Spider had to remind himself that they actually had a mission. Without even glancing at Spider, Ant stepped though the fence and into the woods. Spider followed shortly, understanding what Ant had murmured under his breath a few moments before.
For Preti.

Chapter Text
Ant’s POV
13:10 (1:10 PM)
It was quiet outside. Ant felt the wind coursing through the woods, softly whispering against his hair. His breathing was even, his lungs filling with crisp air as he inhaled and exhaled. He could feel Spider standing next to him, carefully watching him with those startling eyes of his as Ant stared at the house ahead of them.
Ant closed his eyes, letting himself feel. His mind wandered through all of those memories, the good and the bad, and he let himself sink into them. He thought of Preti, alone and scared in these very woods, before her last moments. He thought of Anna, who had endured so much at the hands of their mother, who had disappeared when she hadn’t been able to transform. He thought about how soulless she had been when she had finally come back, transformed in more ways than one. He thought about all of his siblings who had died, and all the ones who were suffering now. Ant opened his eyes. Sunlight was seeping through the branches, touching Ant’s face. He looked back at Spider, whose eyes were still locked on Ant. Ant never thought that he’d be lucky enough to have Spider look at him like that. He never thought he’d be lucky enough to have Spider. Ant breathed in, taking it in before finally turning back and making his way to his old house, Spider following behind him.
As they walked up to the house, Ant thought about his new transformation. Ant hadn’t been ignoring it, but he hadn’t really acknowledged it either. His entire life he’d been a werewolf, it had never occurred to him that he would even have the option of becoming a vampire. There were the most obvious changes: the fact that he felt stronger, healthier, his vision felt sharper- though that was the one werewolf trait that had predominantly developed for Ant- and his hearing was better. Besides that, Ant felt the same- different, yes, but not unfamiliar, like this was what he was meant to be his entire life. The only thing that irked Ant was how little he lusted for blood. He thought that he would’ve had more of a yearning for blood, but he was surprisingly tamed enough when it came to it. He didn’t have an uncontrollable urge to rip out someone’s throat just to drink their blood and satisfy his needs; though Ant couldn’t say he was upset about that. However, he definitely felt some sort of hunger when thinking about blood- which didn’t disgust him as much as he thought it would’ve. But Ant supposed that was his life now.
Ant had heard of hybrids; witches becoming vampires, a werewolf who was also a witch, but he’d never actually witnessed the phenomenon. There was very little known about them anyways, but it was common knowledge that each hybrid’s effects were different. Some werewolf hybrids reacted differently and were able to control their transformation, not being bound to the full moon anymore, others lost their ability to transform, and so on. Ant wondered how he would be affected. Maybe he’d be able to transform after all.
Ant looked up. They were now standing in front of the back door of his house. Normally, it shouldn’t be locked at this time of day, but Ant didn’t know what schedule his family were running on today. He placed his hand on the handle, pushing down. The door opened, creaking softly as Ant pushed it open. Ant’s breath hitched as his eyes fell on the old rooms and halls of the building. He felt his eyes sting as he assessed the inside of the house, memories threatening to invade his mind.
Ant felt Spider’s hand on his shoulder, grounding him to the present. Spider was at his side, looking at him. He nodded, as if to ask Ant if he was still up to the task at hand. Ant reached up to Spider’s face, admiring him before reaching up to kiss him. He felt Spider melt into the kiss, before Ant pulled away, much to both of their disappointments. But they had a job to do after all. Ant nodded at Spider. Together, they entered, shutting the door behind them.
Footsteps could be heard from the stories above, voices floating up and down, of children running and playing. To anyone else, it would’ve sounded joyful and carefree, but to Ant, it was another reminder of all of the awful memories he had endured in this house. Suddenly, Ant heard footsteps rushing down the stairs, coming towards his and Spider’s direction. He could tell that they belonged to someone young, but Ant didn’t have any time to react before he saw Rico run into the room he was standing in. Rico, his seven year old brother, stopped short in his tracks when he saw Ant, his eyes jumping back and forth between Ant and Spider. Ant stayed still, not willing to move a muscle, but before he knew it, he was being hugged tightly by Rico. Ant’s breath was knocked out of him momentarily as his brain processed what was happening.
“You’re back,” he heard Rico mumble against his stomach. Rico pulled back, tears falling down his face, “I thought you were never coming back.”
Ant could feel tears running down his own face. He knelt down to hold Rico better. Once it sounded like Rico had cried all his tears away, he pulled away, sniffing and wiping his face with his sleeve. Rico eyed Spider, but didn’t point him out.
“What are you doing here Anty?”
Ant had always liked Rico. He was kind and so innocent. He reminded Ant of Preti. Before Ant had left, he had always made sure to protect Rico in all the ways he hadn’t been able to protect Preti. Ant hadn't realized that leaving meant he had also left behind his siblings, like Rico, behind at the mercy of their parents.
“Rico I need you to listen to me carefully, okay? You need to get out, go to the woods, take our brothers and sisters and go hide in the woods and wait for me to come get you, okay? Everything is going to be okay, you’re going to be okay. I’m going to need you to be brave, just like when we play hide and seek on those nights in the forest.”
Rico nodded, sniffling. “But, Anty. Our siblings are in the woods already.”
Ant’s blood ran cold. He had known there would’ve been a chance that his parents had set up a trial today, but he had sincerely hoped not. It was okay though, he and Spider had planned for this.
Ant nodded stiffly. “Who?”
Rico wiped his eyes as he thought for a moment before responding, “Sam, Victoria, Liam and Antonio, Pamala, and Neema, I think.”
Ant cursed under his breath. He looked at Rico, with scared eyes.
“Which trial?” He asked. Part of him didn’t want to know.
“Adaptation,” Rico sniffed.
Ant let a sigh of relief out. Adaptation trials were mainly focused on surviving the environment and the weather. It wasn’t too cold outside right now, so they wouldn’t have to worry about any of his siblings freezing to death. It was rare to have a death during an adaptation trial. This was good, they could work with this.
“Okay, okay, good. How long have they been out there?”
“Five days, they’re getting released tonight.”
Ant heard Spider gasp, but that didn’t shock him. Five days was one of the shortest trial times they had, excluding the actual transformation nights. Ant didn’t want to think about those now.
Ant held Rico. “Listen to me Rico, I’m going to need you to be brave, okay? Can you do that for me?”
Rico nodded.
“Good, here’s what you need to do…”
Spider and Ant walked down the hallway in silence. None of them had spoken since they had run into Rico. Ant had explained to Rico their plan- not in its entirety, he didn’t want to scare him, just enough for him to do his part- and Rico had told them the schedule for today and where everyone was. Now, they were heading to the conference room. Between the two of them and Rico, they had managed to get most of Ant’s siblings out of the house and into the forest. Now, it was empty and soundless. Ant felt unnerved.
“How are you feeling?” Spider’s voice rang out in the quiet, almost startling Ant even though he had barely whispered.
Ant shrugged, “Better than how I’m about to when I see my mother.”
He heard Spider nod to himself next to him.
“Listen Ant-”
But before he could finish, they came face to face with Randy.
Ant didn’t even bother to stop the words from spilling out. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Randy was their parent’s favorite child. He was only twelve, and he was one of the most stuck-up person Ant knew. There was no doubt he would go and run to his precious mother and rat Ant out. They were screwed. Randy was staring at Ant, and Ant could tell he was calculating what to do. As much as he didn’t appreciate Randy’s cockiness or favoritism, Ant couldn’t deny the fact that he was very smart.
“Spider…” Ant started, slowly. He looked at Spider. He had seemed to understand what Ant was trying to tell him. Spider gave him one last look before running off in a flash to do his part of the plan. He had never been more grateful for Spider being a vampire until now.
Randy's eyes widened as he figured out the ladder, but there was nothing he could do about it now. Spider was gone. It was just Ant and Randy. If it came down to it, Ant would fight Randy. He would. He’s come too far to let Randy, of all people, stop him.
They stared at each other, for what seemed like hours, until Ant decided to try to talk to him.
“Randy,” he said, trying to keep his voice calm. At any moment Randy had the ability to run or scream and alert anyone in this house that Ant was here. “Please, listen to me.”
Randy said nothing, just looked at Ant.
Ant sighed. This was hopeless.
“Is it true?”
Ant’s head snapped up. He hadn’t expected Randy to talk to him, much less initiate a conversation when he could go and make their mother proud by turning Ant in.
Ant tried to stifle his shock. “Is what true?”
“What they did to you?”
For a moment, Ant saw how young Randy was. He was only twelve, for god’s sake. He hadn’t asked for any of this either. He had only survived in the only way he knew how.
Ant wanted to scream “Which part?”, but he simply nodded.
“But you deserved it?” It wasn’t an accusation. Ant could hear the doubt in his voice. He remembered when it started for him too, when he started to question his parent’s rules and mantras. Randy almost sounded like he wanted Ant to say yes, like he needed him to say yes, because if he didn’t then every sacrifice Randy had done would’ve been for nothing. And Ant knew that guilt like no one else.
“Randy. I need you to let me by.”
Randy looked like he was torn between an array of choices. Ant was starting to get impatient; he had to get by Randy before people realized that Spider was helping his siblings in the forest.
“I-I can’t do that.”
“Randy.” Ant warned.
“I can’t. I-” he paused, unsure, “I have to tell mother.” He looked up at Ant.
“Randy.” It was a plea this time.
“I’m sorry”
“Randy.”
Spider POV
13:21 (1:21 PM)
Spider had never been in Ant’s house before. Ant had told him many, many stories, but this was the first time he stepped on the property. It was eerie. Spider hated it. He felt like he was being watched everywhere he went, like he was being judged. He was holding two of Ant’s sibling’s hands- Sam and Neema, he remembered- and was leading three others to where the rest were waiting. Spider had been able to gather all of them, with the help of Rico and the older ones once he got them in on his and Ant’s plan. He hadn’t told them about how he and Ant were planning on murdering their parents, though, since he doubted that would make them agreeable to help. He just hoped that they would understand. But Spider could tell a couple of them already knew. Thankfully, they had seemed even more eager to help once they had found out. The only issue that he had encountered so far was Aden. He was the oldest. Spider recognized him from the first time he had met Ant. He had been the one to drag Ant away from him, before they even got the opportunity to say goodbye. Spider understood why Aden didn’t like taking orders or why he wasn’t enthusiastic on going against his parents, after all, he had endured their torture the longest, but Spider really needed him to cooperate with him right now.
It wasn’t that he was necessarily against what he and Ant were doing, it was just that he was thinking radically and imposing on Spider’s plan. He had almost straight up asked Spider what he and Ant planned to do once they’d kill his parents, and Spider had had to restrain the urge to slap him. He didn’t understand how he could say that in front of all of his siblings, even though it was a valid question to ask.
Spider heard steps running behind him and recognized them as Rico’s. He had never met Rico properly. He’d seen him hanging around Ant when they would go out into town, but Spider rarely went out, and it was also a rare occurrence for Ant and Rico to go out. He knew how much he meant to Ant, and vice versa. Rico ran up to him, walking alongside him, not speaking. Spider knew this was hard for him too.
They arrived at the hiding spot, and Spider gave Sam and Neema over to a girl- Victoria. She nodded at him in thanks before turning her attention to the younger children. Rico stayed glued to Spider’s side.
“Have you heard of Liam or Pamala?” Spider asked, “They were part of the trial, right?”
Victoria straightened up, whispered to her siblings to go on with the rest, before wiping her hands on her pants and turning to Spider. She was younger than Ant, he could see that, but she had a sort of maturity about her.
“You haven’t seen them?”
Spider shook his head. “No, I’ve done the perimeter twice too.” He paused, uncomfortable, “But I don’t know these woods. I wouldn’t know where one would… want to hide if they don't want to be found.”
Victoria had a sort of far away glance in her eyes. Spider knew this must be hard for her to talk about, or think about, but he also wanted to find them.
Victoria glanced at Rico, and seemed to remember something.
“There is… somewhere they might be. It’s at the heart of the forest, where the foliage is thickest, Rico can show you, I’m- well, I’m still not recovered from… you know.”
Spider nodded, thanked her and darted off with Rico. They walked out of the hiding place and set off, Spider following Rico. It was unsettling how familiar Rico was with them, to Spider they all looked the same; the only reason he hadn’t gotten lost yet, was because each tree had a distinctive smell, though they all blended together when they were close by.
He followed as Rico skipped down the path, occasionally bending down to pick up rocks or check his surroundings. The air was colder here, and Spider noticed the foliage was getting thicker as they made their way further into the forest.
Rico had stopped, inspecting a rock carefully. Spider stopped as well, looking around for any signs of Liam or Pamala. He tried to listen for their heartbeats, their footsteps, tried to smell their blood pumping, but he was getting nothing. He looked over at Rico who was really inspecting the rock. Spider wanted to ask him what he was doing, but they hadn’t talked since now and it felt too awkward to start talking now. After a couple seconds, Rico pocketed the rock and kept moving forward.
They kept that up for a few minutes, the air colder.
“He really likes you, you know?”
Spider startled at the sudden exchange of dialogue, but stifled it.
“Um, who?”
“Anty!” Rico answered, all excited.
“Oh, right, um, yes well, I really like him too,” Spider said, blushing a little.
Rico nodded as he kept on skipping ahead. “He talks a lot about you.”
“Oh?” Spider hadn’t expected that. He hadn’t even thought about how Ant liking him would mean that Ant would think about him, even talk about him to others, which sounds stupid now that Spider thinks about it, because of course for Ant to like him he would need to think about Spider. That made Spider feel all giddy. “What does he say? Good things, I hope.”
“Hmm, mostly yes, though sometimes he just starts rambling and rambling about how you annoy him.”
Spider’s eyebrows flew as he felt himself smile a little. “Me? Annoy Ant? Would’ve never thought,” he mused to himself.
“Mhm, like how he gets annoyed how good you look,” Rico paused, thinking, “though I don’t get how that’s annoying.” Rico shrugged, as if it was beyond him and kept on trucking along.
Spider felt his face heat up as he thought of Ant. He wished he was here with him. He wished that Ant never had to go through any of this, that none of his siblings had to go through this.
As they kept on walking, Spider started smelling a weird odor. Rico was picking up even more rocks, and stopping more and more. Suddenly, Spider stopped in his tracks.
“Rico.” His tone was sharp, and Rico stopped skipping immediately. He looked at Spider in confusion, but Spider was focusing his senses to make sure he had smelt correctly. Spider sent Rico a warning look and gestured for him to slowly come behind him. Rico understood despite Spider’s micro expressions and with alarming quietness, made his way next to Spider.
There was a thick bush surrounding a soft enclosure of a bundle of trees close together.
Spider nodded towards the area, “Is that it?” He asked quietly.
Rico nodded below him.
Spider heard shuffling. He could smell someone there. Not someone- three people.
“Rico.” he warned urgently, “Run.”
Ant’s POV
13:26 (1:26 PM)
Ant was shoved in the room by Randy. He fell to the floor, his hands tied behind his back. He heard someone step closer and his heart stopped as he immediately recognized his mother’s shoes. He held his breath, waiting to get picked up. Out of the corner of his eyes, Ant saw Randy place himself in a corner, quietly watching.
“Well, well, welcome back Anthony.”
Hearing his mother’s voice say his name like that made him freeze for a moment. But Ant had built enough armor over the years. It didn’t affect him anymore like it used to. She couldn’t reach him. Not there. Not when he had a reason to live now- not that he could die so simply anymore.
Ant felt himself get picked up, and he saw his mother’s face for the first time since he ran away. Her eyes were piercing just as always, bent in permanent disappointment. The only new thing was the gash running along her cheek. Ant had given her that when he had tried to defend himself that day. It had been the reason he had been able to run away. That pause of when his mother had been taken aback that he would ever hit her back. It had been enough for him to run.
Ant’s mother brought a chair and sat him down. She inhaled, then wrinkled her nose in disgust. She smelt Ant more closely.
“You reek of vampire,” she spat. She looked at Ant closely. Then her eyes widened. “What have you done?”
Ant couldn’t help the smile blooming across his face. This was the one thing he had against her. He’d turn the one thing she valued the most, the purity of the pack, of being a werewolf into her worst nightmare. It was no secret his mother hated vampires, but her own son becoming one? Well now that was the cherry on top. And it had come from Spider- whom she hated as well. She’d always tell Ant how much of a bad influence he was. Little did she know.
Ant stared right back at her. “What’s wrong mother? Scared I’ll hurt you? Maybe instead I’ll turn the rest of my siblings, that way your dream of us becoming the strongest pack will be all for nothing. All of your sacrifices. All of your stupid trials- all for nothing-”
His mother slapped him, cold and harsh, and grabbed his face.
“You know nothing of my sacrifices. You know nothing of what I’ve done for this family. You walk this earth as the biggest abomination, and you shall die as one.”
She released Ant, his face burning.
The door burst open, and Ant saw his father walk through. However he wasn’t prepared for what he saw next. His stomach dropped as he saw Spider being dragged along. Ant’s father shoved him on the floor next to Ant. He looked properly fucked up, though not too roughly. Spider looked up at him and nodded. He mouthed something to Ant.
They’re safe. I got them all out.
Spider POV
13:50 (1:50 PM)
Spider was exhausted. He was sitting back, watching Ant and the older bunch of his siblings talk about how they were going to move forward. So far, it sounded like Aden was going to become the leader of their pack, but it was hard to tell with all the bickering going on. Spider watched Ant as he spoke, blood still staining his face. He looked beautiful. Spider had so much love for this boy, he didn’t know what to do with it. But he knew that no matter what, they now had all of eternity to figure it out. Ant’s eyes slid over to Spider, and Ant smiled at him from where he was standing. Spider couldn’t stop the smile growing from his face. Spider’s eyes drifted to Aden, who was watching the both of them with intensity. Spider felt like a schoolgirl getting caught kissing a boy behind curtains, and felt a blush creeping on his face as he looked away.
Today had been a lot. But they had finally done it. They had finally stopped the cycle of death that Ant’s parents would’ve kept on spinning and spinning.
Ant’s POV
13:28 (1:28 PM)
Ant let himself relax a little, knowing that his siblings were all safe. He looked over at Randy who was still standing in his corner. An unreadable expression drifted across his eyes, and Ant forced himself to look back at his mother. She was staring at Spider in disgust. Meanwhile, he had the most shit-eating grin ever.
“You. You turned him.”
Spider simply shrugged. Ant’s mother was about to hit him when Ant spoke up.
“Mother! Don’t you dare lay your filthy hands on him! This is between you and me!”
His mother looked curious. “Oh, I see.” She knelt down to Spider, tilting her head.
“I see that you care for my son. But you see, he’s my son, and what kind of mother would I be if I let him be with a scum like you. But maybe, you turning him was a blessing. After all, imagine all of the things I could get away with now that I know there’s only one way to kill him. Maybe, I’ll let you watch, since you care for him so dearly. I’ll make you watch and then I’ll kill you in front of him, so that he’ll learn to never, ever, disobey. His. Mother.”
Spider looked truly homicidal. But there was another emotion hidden there: fear. As much as Ant had told and warned him about his mother, he’d never actually met her in real life, he didn’t know what it was like to slowly come to the realization that it didn’t matter whether or not you were her child, that you could die at her hands if she willed it. He didn’t know how scary that was. Not until now. And Ant hated his mother for making him feel that way. She cackled as she stood back up.
“Randy, darling, hand me the fire poker.”
Ant stayed still in the chair, feeling his binds.
“Randy?” his mother pressed.
But Randy wasn’t moving.
Ant watched with satisfaction as his mother placed the pieces together. How Randy wasn’t getting her the fire poker, how he wasn’t going to. How odd it was for twelve year old Randy- though strong for his age- to have taken down Ant, who was now a vampire, and bound him with thin fabric, and had been the one to bring Ant in.
“You see mother, you were right. Family is everything.” And he planted the knife hidden in his sleeve in her belly before she had the time to react. Ant twisted the knife deeper into his mother.
He could feel his tears falling as she slid down to the floor.
He briefly acknowledged that Spider had struck down his father, as he focused on his mother.
She had tears in her eyes.
“My son. I am proud of you.” she gasped out, her last words slipping out.
“Save it.” Ant gritted out, before pulling out the knife. He didn't want to stay in this room. He wanted to leave and never come back. He felt dizzy, and felt himself falling before being caught by strong hands.
“I’ve got you, I’ve got you.”
Spider held him as Ant finally let everything go.
13:51 (1:51 PM)
Ant looked at Spider in adoration. He had been there for Ant throughout this entire process. He had supported Ant through it all. Ant didn’t know how he had gotten so lucky. After Ant and Spider had killed Ant’s parents, they had walked out of the house, where Ant’s siblings had been waiting for them. Randy had left right as Ant had attacked their mother to go get them. Ant had been scared to see them, he didn’t know how they would feel about Ant coming back, especially to kill their parents. He didn’t know how they would feel about the fact that he couldn’t transform, or that he was a vampire now. Most of them took it well, hard, but well, but there were some that didn’t understand why. Some didn’t understand what had happened. Some didn’t consider him as part of the family anymore, but that was okay. He had found his own now. Him, Anna, Victoria, Alice and Aden had spent the last ten minutes trying to figure out who the pack should go to, after all they needed a leader. Ant had suggested Aden, much to Aden’s surprise, and Anna and Victoria had agreed. He was the oldest after all.
“I don’t understand why you felt the need like it was your duty to kill them,” hissed Alice.
She had been the hardest to convince.
“It didn’t feel like a duty. Maybe it wasn’t right, but we deserve a better life than this, and for once, we have the opportunity to create one for ourselves. I know Aden will be able to do that. Don’t you think our brothers and sisters deserve that? Don’t you think we deserve that? We already suffered, they don’t have to suffer anymore. We owe it to them.”
“You keep saying we, Anthony, but the moment anything goes wrong, you always go running back to your boyfriend.” Aden protested.
Ant was taken aback. Aden wasn’t wrong that Ant usually went to Spider when things were wrong, but only he had nowhere else to go. “First of all he’s not my boyfriend.” They all glared at him. “Look I’m sorry I found someone that I could run to.”
“We’re not saying anything against that, Ant, we’re happy you did-” Victoria siad, trying to comfort him, but Ant cut her off.
“Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it. But you cannot blame me for finding love someplace else when I couldn’t find it here. I ran to him because I had no one to run to here. And you have no right to tell me that that’s selfish.”
No one said anything for a while.
Aden finally sighed. “Well, seeing I have seniority, I agree with Ant. I should lead the pack.”
“It’s never been done before!” Protested Alice.
“Yes, well, that’s not my problem.” Aden retorted, “My problem is that I’m going to need all the help I can get, and that includes you. So I’d much rather have you with us than against us.”
Alice pursed her lips, “I’m not against you all,” she said after a while. “But I lost my parents, we all did, no matter how badly they treated us. That ought to matter to you.” she said to Ant. “But you just walk in here with him, kill our parents then get to dip out and evade the aftermath, that’s not fair!"
“She has a point,” said Anna, sending an apologetic look to Ant, “However, this is not what we should focus on. We need to focus on getting our pack back together.”
After a few minutes more of discussion, agreement and disagreement, they came to a conclusion.
Ant was walking over to Spider when Aden stopped him.
“Hey! Thank you.”
Ant frowned. “For what.”
“Having the pack’s back. Even though you're technically banned, though not officially, I still think you should lay low for a while, let me and the girls pick up the pieces and mend them. But I meant it when I said I’ll need all the help I could get. Stay in touch, yeah?”
Ant nodded stiffly, refusing to cry in front of Aden.
“Take care of each other.” He nodded to Spider, who was watching them with intense eyes.
“You too.”
Ant walked over to Spider and sat down next to him. Rico was curled up on his side, dozing off. It had been a tiring day for all of them.
“Hey.”
Ant hummed back, resting his head on Spider’s shoulder.
“How’d that go?”
Ant sighed. “Probably the best it could’ve gone, all things considered.”
He felt Spider wrap his arm around him before planting a kiss on his forehead.
“You ready to go home?”
Ant nodded.
Home. Ant never thought he would have one to call his own.
He never thought he would have Spider to call his own.
His boy.
His light.
