Chapter 1

The popcorn ceiling was really boring to look at in the dead of night.

Clem sighed, rolling over.

This often happened. Staying up way too late, waking up way too early. Today it was the latter. Sleep never came easy, it seemed.

She closed her eyes, begging to whatever gods may hear to let her fall back into unconsciousness.

 

”I mean, I’m hearing, but I can’t really help you there.” A voice in the back of her mind spoke, echoing and loud. Holy, even.

Clem grumbled.

”Oh shut up, you know I wasn’t talking to you.” She replied, words just as internal. ”Why isn’t Tommy doing this? He’s the host.

”The boy needs his rest. You can handle just a night, I’m sure.” Prime’s wings expanded, their form shifting and bubbling, just as it always did. It’s a marvel what a body can be when imagined through the mind.

”Still. I don’t want to do this.”

”I’m sure he doesn’t either, dearie.”

Clem groaned, reaching forward and blindly patting around for the system’s phone. ”If I’m going to be awake for all this, I might as well have fun.”

Prime hummed in the back of their mind, almost disapprovingly, but chose not to comment.

Lovejoy, (or Wilbur, his actual name) was an online friend the system had made a while back. They met through bedwars, and decided to trade discords to continue chatting.

They weren’t that close. At least, not close enough to be out as plural to him. Instead of being true, they just went by ‘Theseus’ to him.

Still. A friend was a friend.
