Work Text:
“Nothing’s right! Every idea I have is terrible.” Marinette scribbled out her latest attempt at a design for Jagged, his requests were numerous and she couldn’t make them work well together- at least not in a way she was willing to put her name on.
“It can’t be that bad, what are the starting criteria?” Luka asked, looking over her tense shoulder and the remnants of her scribbles.
“He wants a suit- for special events. It has to be ‘rockin’, of course, and needs to feature purple and blue, and represent Fang somehow.”
“Sounds like him. Except for the blue, that’s new.”
Marinette looked at him, “He wants both his kids’ colors on it.”
“Huh.” Figuring out the new parental side of their relationship might be something that would always be a work in progress. “How about some kind of galaxy print with a space croc?”
“What? No!” It also needs to be something I can put my name on.” Marinette protested, looking offended at the suggestion.
“Purple croc-skin shoes and a blue suede suit?”
“Ugh.”
“Instead of traditional tails, put a single crocodile tail on the jacket.”
“Luka! You’re not helping.” Luka took in the relaxed set of her shoulders and the gleam in her eye that suggested she was amused and thought he was being very helpful.
“Wait! What if it’s all about the accessories? Start with a black suit, but put him in a collar that matches Fang’s spiked one. The pocket square should be crisp and white, and as pointy as Fang’s teeth. Line it in purple or blue and choose the opposite color for the croc-skin shoes, and of course, the suit should be pin-striped, so obviously those should alternate between blue and purple- to keep it fair.”
Marinette started chuckling at the collar and was laughing and wiping away tears by the time he got to the pinstripes and he grinned at her. “I hate it,” she declared when he finally stopped.
“No, you don’t. It made you laugh. Clearly, it’s the best idea yet.”
