Silken Flowers Still Have Thorns

Summary:

When a mission goes wrong, you end up left behind by the 141 with the promise of their return to rescue you. But they don't come, instead salvation comes from a very different place.

"Consider it a kindness for the soldier who refused to die when her injuries should have killed her."

Notes:

Me? Deliberately putting off playing MW3 to write this instead? Yes.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

"No! No! " Soap screams, fighting hard against Ghost’s strong grip. "We can't leave 'er like this!"

Price yells, insists they have to go, that they can't risk taking you along as you choke on your own blood. You didn't blame them, why would you? After all, it's not their fault you got shot, at least, not in your book. You'd put yourself between the bullet and your team on your own, something that was sure to get you a hell of a lecture when- if -you made it home.

"We'll come back for you," Ghost says, dark eyes filled with promise. "I swear, I will come back for you!

Ghost has to drag Soap through the rubble, the Scotsman fighting the whole way, his voice broken and hoarse through the comms. You hear them argue with each other until you're out of range, leaving you in the silence of an empty battlefield. Your grave.

Your vision starts to go hazy, but you force yourself to move, crawling across the ground, blood trailing after you. They were coming back, you needed to find shelter, medical supplies, help.

You didn't expect to find it in the way you did.
