Chapter Text
“Why can’t I come?” Teddy asked, his bottom lip pushed out in a pout as he kicked his legs against the side of the tub.
He was perched on the edge of it, watching as Sirius was getting himself ready. Sirius had pulled his hair up into a ponytail, studying his face in the mirror. He was pondering whether or not he should add some eyeliner or if that would be too much. He would have to leave in a few minutes if he didn’t want to be late. His heart was fluttering happily in his chest as he thought about the evening.
He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been on a date, and he felt quite out of practice. He used to be pretty good at them, but as with everything it seemed to become more and more daunting the longer he put it off. The last one he’d been to had been well before Teddy had come into his life.
He’d hooked up with some guys since then, of course. It had usually happened when his friends (with James at the forefront, cheered on by Dora) had dragged him to a club. It had never turned into anything more than a casual hook-up though, and Sirius knew that was mostly his own fault. He hadn’t felt ready for a relationship, everything with Dora and Teddy had just felt too complicated.
This was different though. Remus was different, and Sirius felt comfortable admitting that to himself now. Remus was already a part of his life, of Teddy’s life. He was someone who was already there and would be there, regardless of what Sirius thought about it. That was a thought that both thrilled and terrified him.
It was a gamble, of course, because so much was at stake, but it still felt like it made sense. Asking Remus out had been a spur-of-the-moment thing, he was floating high in post-orgasm, but the light in the other man’s eyes had told him immediately that it had been the right thing to do.
For a while he had thought that the fight between Remus and James would get in the way, but as Sirius had learnt a long time ago it was impossible to stay angry with James Potter for more than five minutes. Remus had tried his best, Sirius had to admit that much, but in the end nothing ever stood in the way once James Potter had set his mind on something. For the past week he had put every little bit of energy into making Remus forgive him, and by the way he had turned up to celebrate a couple of nights ago he had finally succeeded.
Remus had admitted as much, too. He had said he’d forgiven James for not telling him straight away, and that they’d had a good conversation about it. Remus hadn’t told him any details though, and neither had James, clearly set on keeping his promise to Remus not to spill any more of his secrets. It was okay, Sirius thought, because he figured Remus needed someone in his life that he could trust. Someone aside from Sirius, that was, because he had promised himself that he would be one of the people that Remus could depend on from now on.
Sirius had asked Harry to come over and watch Teddy while he was gone, and that had seemed like a winning concept up until just now, when Teddy had suddenly changed his mind. Once he had clocked that Sirius was going to meet up with Remus, he had been nagging Sirius’ ear off about being allowed to tag along. Sirius loved Teddy, and he was happy that the boy clearly wanted to spend time with him and Remus both, but had really been looking forward to having some alone time with Remus.
“Padfoot!” Teddy’s impatient voice yanked Sirius out of his thoughts. “Why can’t I come?”
“Not this time,” said Sirius before deciding he might just as well go all in, and he carefully applied the eyeliner before smoothing it out with a finger. “You can see Remus tomorrow.”
“But I wanna see him now ,” Teddy pouted, and Sirius smiled a little as he turned around to look at the boy.
“I know, but me and Remus are going to have dinner alone tonight.”
“But why ?” Teddy demanded with a frown.
“Because,” Sirius replied, and this time he grinned as Teddy gave an unimpressed huff.
“That’s not a reason,” Teddy complained. “You always tell me that’s not a reason.”
Sirius laughed, “Well, this time me and Remus want to have some time alone, we have…adult things we need to do.”
It was the truth, Sirius thought, because he had a feeling he’d spend most of the evening picturing how Remus would look bent over various surfaces.
“What adult things?” Teddy demanded, but Sirius was saved by the knock on the door.
“That’s Harry,” Sirius said. “Go let him in, I’ll be down in a bit.”
Sirius chuckled to himself as Teddy stomped down the stairs, and when he heard the front door being yanked open he went into his bedroom to check himself in the mirror. He smoothed his shirt out, half-turning to check his arse in his jeans. He looked pretty good; he knew that he cleaned up well but it was nice to see that he hadn’t lost it even if he was out of practice.
He slipped his silver rings onto his fingers before throwing one last look at himself and then venturing downstairs. He found Harry and Teddy in the living room, and he had a horrible feeling that he blushed faintly as Harry let out a wolf whistle at the sight of him.
“You clean up good, Padfoot. Hoping to score?” he smirked, and he looked so much like James just then that Sirius very nearly flipped him off before he remembered that it was, in fact, not James but his seventeen-year-old godson and he was sitting next to an eight-year-old.
“Watch it,” he said instead, but Harry simply laughed at him before he turned back to the television.
“What are you scoring?” Teddy asked, his bright eyes firmly on Sirius before he gave him an accusing glare. “Are you going to play football?”
Sirius pointedly ignored Harry’s snorted laugh.
“I promise you that we’re not playing football,” he said instead before throwing his godson a pointed look. “Haz will take you outside to play though.”
Harry sobered up instantly at Teddy’s cheer, throwing a horrified look out through the window where it was dark, cold and drizzling with rain.
“Shouldn’t you be leaving?” he said instead and Sirius threw a quick glance at his watch, realising Harry was right.
“Shit, yes. I left money on the table for pizza and we’ve stocked up on snacks,” he said. “Bed no later than ten, alright?”
“I wanna be up until you get back,” Teddy protested.
“Ten,” Sirius said, kissing the top of Teddy’s head, ignoring his huffed protest. “Call me if you need anything.”
The last thing was directed towards Harry who nodded, a genuine and a little softer smile on his face.
“We’ll be fine, won’t we Teddy? Go and have fun, say hi to Remus.”
Sirius hovered a moment longer before he did as he was told, leaving the boys in front of the television. He wasn’t worried, Harry had already been babysitting Teddy for years and even if it rarely was at night, Sirius was sure that it would be okay. He also knew that Harry would call him if anything were to happen, so he forced himself to concentrate on the evening ahead instead.
He pulled the hood of his parka up to protect his hair, deciding on a brisk walk rather than an Uber, but about halfway to town, he regretted his life choices. It was just over half an hour's walk and normally that wasn’t too bad, but in the darkness and rain it wasn’t ideal and Sirius felt a little frazzled once he reached the restaurant.
Once he got there, Remus was already at the table, and Sirius felt something warm in his chest at the sight of him. He looked a little flustered, his usually rather unruly curls momentarily tamed. His cheeks were a little pink, and he looked relieved as he saw Sirius approaching.
It was a fancy restaurant, not really a place that Sirius would normally choose but he could admit to himself that he had wanted to impress Remus a little. The room was rather dim, flowers lining the walls and white tablecloths on each table. Remus looked slightly awkward, and Sirius felt a prickle of regret as he second-guessed the choice of restaurant. Too late now though, he decided, as he strode towards the table.
“I’m sorry,” he said hurriedly, then added as Remus made a move as if to stand. “No, don’t get up. I decided to walk here which wasn’t the best idea, in hindsight.”
“Wet?” Remus asked with a lifted eyebrow and Sirius laughed as he handed his coat to the waiter and sat down on the other side of the table.
“A bit, yeah. Did you wait long?”
Remus shook his head, “I was a bit early.”
“Okay, good,” Sirius said with a small smile. “So, drinks?”
“Absolutely,” Remus nodded, handing him the menu. “I’ve got a gin and tonic on the way.”
“That sounds good,” Sirius said as he flagged down the waiter. “Same for me.”
“Teddy and Harry okay?” Remus asked as they were alone again, and Sirius half-smiled.
“Yeah, but Teddy wanted to come with me and he was pretty upset that he wasn’t going to get to see you.”
“Really?”
Remus’ whole face lit up and Sirius couldn’t help but find his surprise and delight endearing.
“Really,” Sirius chuckled, smiling as the waiter brought over their drinks and he raised his glass. “Cheers.”
“Cheers,” mumbled Remus in return, a delightful little flush dusting over his face and Sirius felt something hot squirm in the pit of his belly.
Remus was dressed in a dark green shirt and, Sirius had noticed earlier, a pair of black slacks. He looked like he had put an effort in, and it made a little thrill dance along Sirius’ spine. And going by how he was eyeing Sirius over the rim of his glass, the glitter in his eyes, Sirius thought that his own clothing decision had met Remus’ approval.
“I’m glad you asked me out,” Remus said suddenly, and Sirius was a little surprised by the directness but he grinned at him.
“I’m glad you said yes,” he chuckled lowly. “Doubt you would’ve a couple of months ago.”
Remus snorted softly, but there was a smile hinting over his face.
“You wouldn’t have asked a couple of months ago.”
Sirius inclined his head slightly, “Fair enough.”
They exchanged another smile across the table, silence stretching a little before Sirius reached for the menu.
“So, food?”
“Please,” Remus nodded as he picked up his own menu. “I’m starving. What’s good here?”
“I have no idea,” Sirius said with a laugh. “I’ve not been before but it’s a fancy place, isn’t it? Everything should be decent.”
“Right,” Remus said, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards.
A good ninety minutes later, Sirius had to admit he had been wrong. He caught Remus’ gaze across the table as he punched in his code, and the other man had his lips pressed together into a thin line, as if trying to stop himself from laughing.
“Thanks,” Sirius said stiffly as he handed the card reader back to the waiter. “This was…an experience.”
“Thank you, sir,” the man replied, Sirius’ tone of voice clearly going over his head and Sirius heard Remus disguise his laugh into a cough.
Remus followed him out of the restaurant, and as they got back out on the sidewalk Sirius barked out a laugh.
“Fucking hell,” he said, turning to look at Remus and the other man’s eyes were dancing in the light spilling out of the restaurant.
“You weren’t wrong in that it was an experience, I just don’t think it was the kind he thought you meant,” Remus laughed, his cheeks tinged with pink.
“I thought I was in one of those hidden camera shows,” Sirius snorted.
“I don’t know what my favourite was,” Remus mused. “You picking four bottles of wine of the list that they didn’t have, or the teeny-tiny portions.”
“Yeah, what the hell was that?” Sirius groaned. “No-one told me they were going to be bite-sized, how could they not tell you that?”
Remus grinned, “They could’ve told us we’d do well to order sides at least.”
“I know what my favourite thing was though,” Sirius grinned. “It was your fucking dessert.”
Remus sobered instantly, pulling a face, “Fuck’s sake, how the fuck can they put popping candy in that thing without listing it in the menu? I thought I’d broken a bloody tooth when they started going off.”
“Your face was priceless though,” Sirius laughed, and there was something very endearing in the look of embarrassment that pulled over Remus’ face. “C’mon, let’s go get a pint and some chips. I’m bloody starving.”
“Please,” Remus agreed, falling into step next to Sirius but he made sure to keep a slow pace so that Remus would be able to keep up without straining his leg. “It was a nice thought though, the resturant.”
“Honestly don’t know what the fuss is about,” Sirius muttered, and he felt a flare of embarrassment in his chest but it lessened slightly as he felt Remus nudge against him.
“I appreciate the gesture.”
Sirius glanced at him, at the half-smile on Remus’ face, the gleam in his eyes, and his heart did a little stutter in his chest.
“Lucky me, wouldn’t want to scare you off.”
“Nah,” Remus half-smirked as he pulled the door to the pub open. “I don’t scare that easily.”
Sirius opened his mouth and then he closed it again, following Remus into the pub. They managed to find a booth in a dark corner, and Sirius made a split decision to slip in next to Remus rather than take the chair opposite him. He didn’t miss the small smile on Remus’ face, nor the way he shifted over to make room but still stayed close enough so that their thighs remained pressed together.
Sirius ordered them two pints, some chips and the glazed camembert, much to Remus’ amusement. After a bit of hesitation he added the dark chocolate brownie, which the other man eyed suspiciously as it arrived.
“I think I’ve been put off chocolate forever,” Remus complained. “Can’t trust anything not being stuffed full with popping candy anymore.”
Sirius laughed as he grabbed his spoon, “I’ll try it for you.”
“Such a gentleman,” Remus snorted but Sirius merely smiled sharply at him.
He held Remus’ gaze as he closed his lips around the spoon, carefully licking it clean from chocolate and ice cream, making a low noise in the back of his throat. He couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching upwards into a half-smirk as he heard the little intake of breath.
“It’s good,” he said, innocently, and he didn’t miss the little flash of hunger in Remus’ eyes as he scooped up another piece of brownie. “Want a taste?”
“Sure,” Remus said, and he didn’t look away either, not even as Sirius leaned a little closer, and his voice was gloriously husky.
Sirius flashed him another quick smirk, feeding him a taste of chocolate from his own spoon, and there was a spark of heat in his belly as Remus leaned in. This time it was his turn to close his lips around the spoon, holding Sirius’ eyes as he let it slip from his mouth again.
“See, no pop rocks,” Sirius said, but his voice came out a little hoarser than he’d planned for and he thought he saw something hinting behind Remus’ eyes.
“Yeah,” Remus said, and something about the way he was watching Sirius made him seriously consider just abandoning the food altogether and climbing on top of him right there in the booth.
Sirius thought he should receive some sort of award for getting through the next few hours without doing something inappropriate. He did find, however, that the longer the night went on the harder it was to keep his hands to himself. He shifted a little, an excuse to let his knee knock against Remus’ and their fingers brushed together as they ‘accidentally’ reached for the same chip.
When the pub called for last orders, Sirius glanced towards the bar and then over to Remus.
“I should probably– I told Harry I’d be back before midnight.”
“Right,” Remus nodded, and Sirius thought there was a hint of disappointment in his voice. “Of course, I should probably get back home too.”
“I don’t– I mean,” Sirius said, his gaze flickering around the crowded room for a moment, his hand brushing against Remus’ thigh under the table. “Come with me?”
“Back to yours?” Remus asked, one eyebrow lifting slightly.
“Yeah,” Sirius smiled, then he added haltingly. “If you want?”
Remus looked to be hesitating a brief moment.
“Is that– is that okay?”
The corner of Sirius’ mouth pulled up, “I asked, didn’t I?”
Remus flushed gloriously, “Yeah. I mean, yes. I’d like that.”
“Great,” Sirius grinned, his fingers slipping a little against the inside of Remus’ thigh, and he felt the other man shift a little against him. “I’ll get us a car.”
“We can walk,” Remus said hurriedly, but Sirius shook his head, already with his phone in his hand.
“Don’t think I didn’t see the way your leg cramped when you went to the loo. I’ll get us a car.”
Remus opened his mouth as if to protest but then he closed it again, and Sirius winked at him as he slipped his phone back into his pocket.
“You should let people spoil you occasionally.”
Remus’ mouth twitched, but Sirius wasn’t sure if it was a smile or a grimace as the other man stood up.
“I’m not very good at that.”
“I can tell,” Sirius said fondly, putting a hand on the small of Remus’ back as he guided him outside.
They didn’t have to wait long for the car to arrive and only minutes later they pulled up outside Sirius’ house. He took the lead inside, finding Harry planted on the couch in front of the TV in the living room.
“Hey Hare-bear,” he said cheerfully, ignoring the murderous glare Harry sent his way at the nickname. “Good evening?”
“Not as good as you it seems,” the teenager replied sassily as he caught sight of Remus behind him but Sirius merely smirked at him.
“Teddy went down okay?”
“Yeah,” Harry said as he stood up. “But it was closer to eleven than ten, he claimed he wasn’t tired.”
“He never is,” Sirius deadpanned, turning to Remus. “Get a bottle of wine from the kitchen while I see him off?”
“Yeah, sure,” Remus said, and Sirius thought he looked a little flustered but he held it together fine as he sent Harry a smile. “Good to see you, Harry.”
“You too,” Harry said, grabbing his coat from the hallway.
“I’ve got you a car,” Sirius said, pulling the boy into a hug. “You text me the minute you’re home, alright? And I’ll be able to tell because I can see your journey on my phone.”
“Yeah yeah,” Harry said, his voice muffled by Sirius’ shoulder.
“Thanks for your help, kid,” Sirius added quietly before releasing him, giving his godson a fond little smile as he squeezed his arm. “I appreciate it.”
“You’re paying me pretty well,” Harry teased before adding with a wink. “Anyway, I think Dad would’ve killed me if I’d stood in the way of your date.”
Sirius huffed out a breath, rolling his eyes.
“You shouldn’t listen so much to your father.”
Harry grinned.
“I’m kidding, I’m happy to help, Padfoot. Me and Teddy have fun and, well, frankly, I think it’s about time you’re dating,” he paused for a moment before adding under his breath and a nod towards the kitchen. “I take it went well? Think you’re gonna, y’know, get lucky?”
“Alright, that’s enough out of you,” Sirius interrupted, swatting the boy lightly over the back of his head as he waggled his eyebrows suggestively. “Off you go before I change my mind about paying you.”
“I’m going, I’m going,” Harry laughed. “Bye Padfoot. Bye Remus.”
He left with a wave at them both and Sirius shook his head as he locked the door behind him. He turned around to find Remus in the hallway, a bottle of wine and two glasses in his hands.
“Little shit,” he muttered, but Remus merely laughed.
“He loves you, it’s obvious.”
“Yeah, he’s still a little shit though,” Sirius said affectionately. “I’ll go up and check on Teddy, make yourself comfortable.”
Teddy was fast asleep in his room, and Sirius returned the stuffed dog that had fallen off the bed, but otherwise he didn’t want to disturb him. When he came back down, Remus had already opened the bottle of wine and poured them both a glass each. He was standing and watching the photographs again, Sirius had found him doing that on more than one occasion before.
“Find anything interesting?” he asked when he stepped up behind the other man, and he smiled crookedly as Remus turned around, a flicker of something across his face as he realised how close they were.
“I like the photos,” Remus murmured.
“I like the new ones,” Sirius said, indicating the few he had added since Christmas.
“I didn’t see those,” Remus said, reaching out to take one of them. “That’s me?”
He sounded surprised as he studied the photo. It was of him and Teddy in front of the tree at the Potters’, carefully applying the stickers that Teddy had given him on his cane.
“It’s a cute photo,” Sirius said, his eyes on the side of Remus’ face, and he felt a flare of affection for him suddenly, for his genuine surprise at being included.
Sirius gently took the photograph from him and put it back on the shelf before he put a hand on Remus’ hip. He put a hand at the back of Remus’ neck, turning his head slightly so that he could capture his lips in a soft kiss.
“Been wanting to do that all evening,” he said as he pulled back, his eyes darting down to Remus’ mouth as he licked his lips.
“Why haven’t you?”
“I don’t know,” Sirius admitted, the corner of his mouth pulling upwards. “Got distracted by the shit restaurant, I think.”
“Makes me like that place even less,” Remus mumbled as he surged forward, kissing Sirius with more intent.
“How about we move this upstairs?” Sirius asked as they broke apart again.
“What about– what about Teddy?”
“He won’t wake up,” Sirius assured him.
“But tomorrow– I don’t have to stay the night.”
“It’ll be fine,” Sirius assured him. “I’m not throwing you out in the middle of the night.”
“Yeah, but–“
“Fuck’s sake, Remus,” Sirius half-growled, pushing him up against the bookcase, feeling a flare of heat through him at how easily Remus went, at how his posture relaxed, his body pliant. “I’m trying to tell you that I really, really want you in my bed within the next five minutes. D’you have a problem with that?”
“No,” Remus admitted, his head tipping back slightly, invitingly, the knot in his throat bobbing as he swallowed thickly. “No problem.”
“So then why are you arguing?” Sirius asked as he leaned in, his teeth grazing the base of Remus’ neck before biting down at a particularly inviting spot.
“I really don’t know,” Remus admitted through a moan and fuck if Sirius didn’t live for that breathlessness to his voice, the way arousal had wrapped around the words and when Sirius shifted a little closer he felt a hardness press against his leg.
“So stop it,” Sirius ordered, his voice low, and he swore he could feel a shudder running through Remus and he flashed him a sharp sort of smile before kissing him again. “Upstairs.”
Remus’ mouth opened and closed a couple of times before he apparently found his voice, something heated in his eyes as he looked at Sirius.
“Right, yeah, upstairs.”
Sirius laughed, nudging to get him to move before handing him their glasses.
“I’ll be right behind you.
Remus felt almost dizzy as he climbed the stairs, and he was fairly sure it had nothing to do with the alcohol he’d consumed. He’d felt on edge all evening, and he had a feeling he’d done a terrible job at hiding it. Truth was that he’d wanted to rip that ridiculously expensive silk shirt of Sirius since the first moment he laid eyes on him in the restaurant.
It had been a perfect evening as far as Remus was concerned, despite the slight miscalculation on dinner. Remus hadn’t minded though, the way they ended the evening in the pub was much more his style anyway. He had definitely not minded the way that Sirius had chosen the seat next to him in the pub, and Remus was fairly sure that the way Sirius kept touching him was far from accidental.
He took a sip from his wine before placing both glasses on one of the bedside tables in Sirius’ room. He escaped into the bathroom, taking a moment to splash some water onto his face before he adjusted himself in his jeans. Their little interaction in the living room had been enough to get his blood pumping, heat pooling in his groin.
“You’re still wearing clothes, I’m disappointed,” Sirius grinned at him as he came back into the bedroom and Remus huffed out a laugh.
“Sorry,” he offered, tugging a little at the hem of his shirt. “You mean I should take this off?”
Sirius eyed him for a moment, and something in his gaze made Remus’ insides squirm in anticipation and excitement.
“Let me,” Sirius murmured as he stepped up close, and Remus dropped his arms to his sides.
Sirius took his time, carefully unbuttoning Remus’ shirt, his fingers slipping against Remus’ exposed skin. He looked thrillingly focused as he pushed the shirt over Remus’ shoulders. He slid a hand lower, to the waist of Remus’ jeans, fingers toying with the button there as he looked up at his face.
“Tease,” he exhaled, and the coy look Sirius gave him sent heat chasing through Remus’ body.
“You have no idea,” Sirius murmured, and Remus wasn’t sure he wanted to know, he felt like he was already way too desperate considering how little had actually happened.
“Does this feel good?” Sirius asked innocently as he rubbed a hand over Remus’ crotch, and Remus could feel himself harden further, straining against his trousers.
“I think you know it does,” replied Remus, but he failed miserably at keeping any sort of heat in his voice, instead it sounded feeble and far too desperate for his own liking.
Sirius smirked at him, not answering as he opened the rest of the buttons, yanking the jeans down over Remus’ hips. He cupped him through his underwear, rubbing lightly at the wet patch that was already forming there, holding Remus’ eyes as he edged a hand inside to touch him skin on skin.
Remus could feel the blush blooming over his whole body, his dick hardening further in Sirius’ clever hand. He couldn’t stop his hips from pushing forward, and he felt rather than heard Sirius’ quiet chuckle as he attached his lips to the base of Remus’ neck. Remus groaned softly, his head tipping back and he opened and closed his fists, his knees going a little weak as Sirius’ fingers circled the base of his cock to tug at him firmly.
“Bed,” Sirius murmured against his skin, gently pushing Remus backwards until the back of his legs hit the edge of it and Sirius urged him down onto his back.
Remus had to force himself not to squirm as Sirius looked at him, a predatory glint in his eyes that sent sparks of arousal dancing through Remus’ body. There was a wicked sort of smile on Sirius’ face, a glint in his eyes that made Remus flush hotly all over again.
“You’re hot,” Sirius said, but that only had Remus flush deeper and Sirius’ mouth twitched, as if he knew.
Sirius smirked at him as he kneeled, carefully stripping Remus of the rest of his clothes and he thought it would feel ridiculous being undressed like this by someone else but it didn’t. It was hot, really, feeling all of Sirius’ focus being only on him. He moved further up the bed as Sirius nudged him to, and the way that he so carefully made sure that Remus’ leg was okay sent a different kind of heat chasing through his body.
“ You’re hot,” Remus mumbled when he found his voice again, and it really wasn’t a lie.
Sirius looked amazing, still dressed in his silk shirt but with a few more buttons undone than he’d had when they were out. His hair was still pulled back in a ponytail but some hair had escaped and curled around his face in a way that looked accidental but Remus thought might not be.
His cheekbones looked even sharper in the dim light of the bedroom, the dark eyeliner around his eyes brought out the silver of his eyes and the muscles in his arms flexed as he slowly unbuttoned his shirt. He kept eye-contact with Remus as he shimmied out of his jeans, kicking them away together with his socks. He slid a hand down his own chest, fingers trailing along his tattoos, brushing through the coarse hair at the base of his cock before he took himself in hand.
He gave himself a slow stroke and Remus could see him hardening in his hand, a squeeze around the head, just as he’d done to Remus earlier, and he felt his own dick twitch with the memory. Sirius grinned almost wolfishly as he gently nudged Remus’ legs apart, kneeling on the bed between them.
“I wanna fuck you,” Sirius murmured, running his hands along Remus’ legs, up to his hips. “Can I?”
“Please,” Remus murmured, his legs falling open even more. “I think that sounds like a fucking brilliant idea if you ask me.”
Sirius laughed quietly, leaning over him as reached for the drawer in the bedside table and he rummaged around for a moment before he sat back up with a triumphant sort of expression, clutching a tube of lube. He made short work of it, coating his fingers in the gel before he reached down, slipping his fingers over Remus’ cock and then lower, cupping his balls briefly and then he nudged his hips slightly.
Remus bent his good leg, planting his foot against the bed so that he could lift himself slightly, giving Sirius better access. The other man took advantage of it immediately, two fingers pushing into Remus and he couldn’t help but tense briefly at the intrusion.
“It’s good,” whispered Sirius, his voice not much more than a low purr as he used his free hand to rub soothingly over Remus’ thigh. “You’re good, just relax for me. That’s it, perfect Remus, fuck, that’s perfect.”
Remus allowed his eyes to flutter closed, Sirius’ voice washing over him, and he slowly felt his body relaxing. It didn’t take long before he was shifting back on Sirius’ fingers, stars dancing behind his eyelids as the other man added a third finger, crooking them, searching for Remus’ spot.
It was obvious when he found it, Remus’ body jerking and his eyes snapping open, and he caught Sirius watching, eyes dancing as he did the same thing again. Remus moaned helplessly, his own cock twitching against his stomach and he hissed out a low moan.
“Perfect,” Sirius said again, encouragingly, the praise going straight to Remus’ dick. “You’re fucking perfect for me. Fuck, I could watch you come like this, on my fingers, would you like that?”
Remus gave a jerky sort of shake of his head, one hand twisted into the sheets underneath him while the other one reached for Sirius to grab his free hand.
“Want you–“ Remus started, but it died in a moan as Sirius twisted his fingers again, a teasing sort of tilt to his grin and Remus made a helpless noise in the back of his throat. “Fuck, Sirius.”
“Mhm,” Sirius purred, shaking his hand free from Remus’ hold, using it to curl around his cock instead. “What do you want? I wanna hear you say it.”
“Sirius,” Remus exhaled, a wonderful twisting feeling in the depth of his belly that only made him pulse and leak in Sirius’ hand, his hips grinding down on his fingers almost out of his control.
“Tell me,” Sirius murmured, his voice like liquid and Remus exhaled a little shakily.
He didn’t know why it was so hard for him to ask for what he wanted, but the thought of it was arousing and scary all at once. It wasn’t even that he minded talking dirty, he had done that before and he quite enjoyed it at times, but something with the way Sirius was watching him so intently, the way he kept touching him, the way he had three fingers buried deep inside of him made it so intimate that it almost made him lose his breath.
“I want–“ Remus started, a soft keening noise escaping him as Sirius gave his dick an encouraging sort of squeeze. “Want you inside of me. You–“ he stopped, swallowing thickly as Sirius gave him a glorious smile and Remus threw caution to the wind. At that moment he felt as if he would agree to anything, do anything Sirius might ask of him. “Want your cock,” he said, forcing himself to hold Sirius’ gaze as he added, with a flick of his tongue against his bottom lip. “Please.”
Sirius inhaled a little sharply, and Remus felt a tug in his gut as he realised he was the reason for that. He felt Sirius shift back a little bit, and he groped around for the bottle of lube again before he managed to find it, coating his fingers once more. It didn’t take long before Remus felt the familiar blunt pressure against his hole, and moments later Sirius was shifting inside him.
Remus groaned deeply, his back arching off the bed as he shifted further down, taking Sirius deeper. The other man grunted lowly, placing one hand on each side of Remus as he buried himself to the hilt with a shift of his hips. It didn’t take long for Sirius to find a pace, and Remus knew immediately that he wouldn’t last very long.
The build-up had been too intense, the pressure was already building inside of him, the beginning of his orgasm licking its way through his body. Sirius was looking down on him, teeth worrying at his bottom lip, each slide of his cock inside of Remus made jolts of pleasure dance up and down his spine.
Before Remus knew what he was doing, his head surged upwards until he could claim Sirius’ lips in a fierce kiss. He moaned into Sirius’ mouth, swallowing down the noises that Sirius was making in return. It was awkward, sloppy, and their teeth kept knocking together but it didn’t matter.
He could feel Sirius’ thrusts going a little more erratic, and he had a feeling that the other man was close too. Remus reached down to wrap his fingers around his own erection, stroking himself at the same pace that Sirius was thrusting into him.
“Close,” he gasped against Sirius’ lips, licking hungrily into his mouth as his free hand came up to settle at the back of Sirius’ neck, fingers tangling in the ponytail there, pressing them together. “So fucking close, Sirius, fuck.”
“Yeah,” Sirius nodded, murmuring between bites and licks at Remus’ mouth. “Let go, love.”
Remus came not long after that, stroking himself through his orgasm, squeezing around Sirius until the other man tumbled over the edge with him. They stayed like that for a moment, until Sirius slowly lowered himself on top of Remus, mindful of his bad leg, and the only sound audible in the room was both of their heavy breaths.
“Heavy,” grunted Remus after a while and Sirius rolled off him with a low chuckle.
“Sorry,” he said, kissing Remus’ shoulder softly.
“That’s alright,” Remus murmured. “I need to go clean up.”
“Do you really?” Sirius muttered, sniffing lightly across Remus’ skin, his breath tickling. “I think you smell good.”
“You do, do you?” Remus mumbled, unable to keep the smile out of his voice and he felt a happy little flutter in his chest. “I think I smell like you.”
Sirius didn’t reply straight away, instead he pressed his nose against the crook of Remus’ neck and he took a deliberately deep breath before exhaling.
“My point exactly.”
Remus laughed quietly, slipping a hand down Sirius’ body, feeling his muscles flex underneath his touch. He slipped it lower, over the curve of Sirius’ arse, squeezing it lightly.
“Come with me.”
“Alright,” Sirius said while stifling a yawn before rolling out of bed. “A quick one.”
It wasn’t a very quick one, but Remus blamed Sirius for that. It was virtually impossible not to touch Sirius when he had the chance, and to be fair Sirius seemed to have trouble keeping his hands to himself as well.
“I should go sleep in the guest room,” Remus murmured against Sirius’ lips as the other man tugged him back into the bedroom. “In case Teddy wakes up.”
“Yeah,” Sirius agreed, his hands roaming over Remus’ back. “Yeah, just– not yet. Lie down with me for a bit.”
Remus looked at him, Sirius’ silvery eyes looking pleadingly at him before flickering over towards the bed. It looked hopelessly inviting, and Remus knew that it would smell of Sirius.
“Okay,” he mumbled, allowing for himself to be pulled back down. “Just for a little while.”
“Just for a little while,” Sirius agreed, stretching languidly next to him before curling into him, their bodies slotting together perfectly and Remus thought it should be impossible that they fitted together so perfectly but somehow they did.
Remus had every intention to only stay for a moment, and he was barely aware of closing his eyes before a loud noise woke him up.
“Padfoo–“
Teddy didn’t have time to finish the word before Remus felt Sirius jerk awake next him, sitting up abruptly and pulling some of the duvet with him.
“Fuck,” Remus exhaled under his breath, grabbing his side of the duvet to keep it in place as he lifted his head slightly to look at the boy who was hovering by the door to Sirius’ bedroom.
“Oh,” the boy said, his bright eyes shifting between them.
“Teddy!” Sirius said with an exuberance that sounded slightly forced to Remus’ ears. “Morning, sprog!”
Teddy didn’t reply straight away, merely watching them both with narrowed eyes and Remus felt his heart thundering in his chest.
“What time is it?” Sirius continued, scrambling to grab his phone from the bedside table where both of the glasses from last night remained untouched. “Nine! Well, that’s…early.”
“I’ve been awake for ages !” Teddy said before he pressed his lips together tightly as he looked between them.
“Look, kid, we–“ Sirius started but Teddy huffed out a breath as he strode further into the room until he came to stand by the foot of Sirius’ bed.
“Are you having a sleepover?” Teddy demanded and Remus felt rather than saw Sirius straighten his back.
“Er, yes– yeah, we’re having a sleepover, me and Remus.”
He turned to give Remus a pointed look and Remus found himself nodding quickly.
“Right, yeah, a sleepover. Good morning, Teddy.”
“Good morning,” Teddy mumbled a reply, and Remus could see the pout forming on his face even before he’d properly expressed it. “Why didn’t you tell me there was going to be a sleepover? I wanted a sleepover too.”
“Uh, it was a…it wasn’t planned,” Sirius mumbled, and Remus had to resist the sudden and desperate urge he had to laugh.
“I never get to have a sleepover,” Teddy complained dramatically, scuffing his foot against the floor.
“That’s not true,” Remus said once he trusted himself not to burst out laughing. “You and I have had sleepovers too.”
“That’s not the same,” argued Teddy with a sulk and Remus had to admit he had a very good point.
“You had one with Zach before Christmas,” Sirius reminded him, but Teddy threw him a scathing look.
“That was a really really really really long time ago!”
“Right,” Sirius said, and this time Remus was sure that Sirius was trying hard not to laugh as well. “Sorry, Tedster, next time I promise we’ll plan it well before so that you’ll know.”
“Yeah,” Remus agreed quickly, the corner of his mouth twitching. “Sorry Teddy.”
“Alright,” Teddy huffed, as if he was granting them a favour and, Remus figured, in his mind he probably was. Then he added, brightly. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Er,” Sirius said, sending Remus a sideway glance and he quickly cleared his throat.
“How about I make some pancakes?” he suggested quickly, and Teddy seemed to mull it over before he gave a decisive nod.
“I like pancakes.”
“Great,” Sirius said resolutely, clapping his hands together. “Why don’t you, er, wait for us in the kitchen, Teddy? We’ll be right down.”
The moment the door closed behind Teddy, Sirius dropped back against the bed with a groan and Remus couldn’t help but laugh, his chest feeling surprisingly light despite the fact that Teddy had all but walked in on them.
“What’s so funny?” Sirius bit out but it lacked any real ire, and Remus merely grinned at him.
“So much for keeping it on the low, huh?”
Sirius gave a slow, reluctant smile, shaking his head.
“I thought you were sleeping in the guest room,” he muttered, but his eyes were dancing in a way that showed he wasn’t really upset.
“Sorry,” Remus smirked, dragging his gaze down Sirius’ body, lingering momentarily at the bruise he’d sucked into Sirius’ skin. “I must’ve fallen asleep. It’s your own fault for having such a comfortable bed.”
“Oh really,” Sirius murmured, pulling Remus down on top of him, searching out his mouth for a slow and languid kiss that sent heat chasing through Remus’ body. “So you’re just going to blame me?”
“Yeah,” Remus mumbled against his lips, unable to stop himself from shifting a little on top of him. “A right menace, you are.”
Sirius grinned against him, running his hands slowly up and down Remus’ back.
“Guilty,” he purred, arching up against him a little before he sunk back down against the bed with a sigh. “Okay, we can’t do this now, we need to go downstairs or Teddy will be back up soon and I’m not sure we can use the sleepover excuse then.”
Remus chuckled lowly, pulling back reluctantly.
“Right, breakfast it is.”
He swung his legs off the bed, rummaging around to find his underwear and he could hear Sirius doing the same on his side of the bed.
“We need to tell him something though,” Sirius said eventually, and Remus turned to look at him as he pulled his shirt over his head.
“Teddy?”
“Yeah,” Sirius nodded. “I mean, we should tell him something, I think. I want him to…I think he should know, don’t you?”
“I guess,” Remus said, a nervous little stutter in his chest before he dared to ask the question that prickled at him. “What…what should he know, though?”
Sirius smiled slowly as he walked around the bed to Remus, his eyes sparkling with something as he stepped up close, putting a hand at the back of Remus’ head to pull him in for a kiss.
“That I like you,” Sirius firmly. “That I’m really– that I really like you. That– that you…like me?”
There was a little quiver over the last question, and that quiver sent a spark through Remus’ body. There was something vulnerable with the way Sirius watched him, and Remus wondered if Sirius’ heart was beating as hard as his right then. He nodded once, firmly.
“I like you,” he said, and he sealed the words with a kiss before he let their foreheads rest together as he repeated the words with a small smile. “I like you very much, Sirius Black.”
Sirius gave a radiant smile, a slow and glorious thing that made warmth bloom in Remus’ chest and he had to resist the urge he had to push Sirius back down on the bed.
“That’s all there’s to it,” Sirius said plainly. “That’s all we need to know, for now. We can figure out the details as we go, but I’d like to do that. With you.”
Remus felt himself smiling, unable to stop himself, and he had a feeling that he looked ridiculous but maybe it didn’t matter all that much because Sirius looked a bit ridiculous himself with the way he was grinning.
“Yeah,” he rasped, clearing his throat. “Yeah, I’d like that too.”
“And we’ll tell Teddy…I don’t know. We’ll tell Teddy that; we’ll tell him that we like each other and that we’re…dating? No, wait he won’t understand dating. We’ll tell him–”
Remus smiled fondly, slipping his arms around Sirius’ waist, pulling him close.
“Don’t overthink it. I’m sure we’ll figure it out.”
“Okay,” Sirius said, an embarrassed little pull at his mouth as he leaned in to brush their lips together again. “Good, because I don’t want to hide it, and I don’t want to lie to him. I won’t lie to him.”
“We won’t,” promised Remus. “I don’t want to lie to him either. We’ll figure it out. Together.”
“Together,” Sirius repeated, kissing the corner of Remus’ mouth. “Okay, come on, you’ve promised pancakes.”
Remus dutifully followed Sirius out of the bedroom and down the stairs.
“Alright, Tedster, pancakes and–“
Sirius stopped so abruptly that Remus walked straight into him, making them both stumble slightly and Remus felt Sirius’ hands on his hip to steady him.
“Good morning!”
Remus’ head jerked up at the sound of the voice, and he felt his body flush hotly as he saw James sitting at the kitchen table. He had a mug of what smelled like coffee in front of him, his brown eyes dancing merrily behind his round glasses. He was grinning like the Cheshire Cat, and Remus felt Sirius stiffen next to him.
“What the–“ he started faintly, then his eyes darted over to Teddy who was sitting next to James, drawing something on a piece of paper. He seemed to compose himself slightly as he released Remus, striding over to the coffee pot to fill the two mugs next to it. “Prongs. What are you doing here?”
“Breakfast,” James replied brightly before he turned to Remus, his eyebrows waggling suggestively. “Good morning, Remus.”
“Er, good morning,” replied Remus as he stepped into the kitchen, and he glanced over at Sirius, trying to read the other man’s expression.
“Who shows up for breakfast at…9.30 in the morning?” Sirius huffed.
“I do,” James replied, unnecessarily, and Sirius snorted sharply.
“You have serious boundary issues,” he muttered, but James seemed unfazed.
Remus had a sudden flare of panic. Maybe Sirius would change his mind, maybe everything he’d said upstairs looked very different in the daylight, in the kitchen, in front of his kid and best friend. He forced himself to take a deep breath, to focus on not letting his head spin out of control.
“Padfoot and Dad had a sleepover,” Teddy piped up, and Remus was so stunned by the fact that Teddy so freely called him dad that he immediately forgot his panic, and he almost missed James’ smirk.
“I can see that,” he replied sunnily, his gaze shifting between the two of them. “Nice hickey, Padfoot.”
Sirius turned around, a haughty sort of look on his face as he levelled his best friend with a stare that would’ve made Remus recoil but James simply grinned wider.
“Fuck off, Prongs,” he said airily.
“Padfoot!” Teddy exclaimed. “That was a bad word.”
“It was,” Sirius agreed, his voice softer. “Sorry, sprog, but sometimes they’re necessary.”
James barked out a laugh as he leaned back on his chair, but Remus was momentarily distracted as Sirius stepped up close to him, their fingers brushing together lightly as he handed him his cup of coffee. Remus felt a little jolt as they touched, and his gaze flicked up to Sirius’ face, the other man giving him a little smile and a wink that lessened something of the pressure over Remus’ chest.
The rest of the pressure all but disappeared as he felt Sirius slide an arm around his waist, the brush of lips against his jaw and when Remus’ eyes darted in James’ direction he saw him watching. There was a soft and fond sort of expression on his face that Remus hadn’t seen before.
“I believe someone promised pancakes,” Sirius said, and Teddy gave an excited cheer.
“Pancakes!”
“Right,” Remus said, gently disentangling himself from Sirius and pretending he wasn’t blushing as deeply as he was. “Pancakes.”
“I’ll help,” James offered, and he didn’t wait for Remus to reply before he got up.
Remus half-expected James to say something else, to comment on the kiss, on their sleepover , on him and Sirius or on anything at all but he didn’t. He merely went on as if it was just the most natural thing in the world.
“You should come to dinner,” James said moments later as he handed Remus three eggs. “Tonight. Sirius and Teddy are coming and Lily will kill me if I don’t invite you too now considering, well…”
He trailed off, glancing over at Sirius with a pointed sort of look before winking at him and Remus found himself unable to stop the corner of his mouth from twitching upwards.
“Yes,” James mused, a smug sort of pull around his mouth. “Exactly that. Just for the record, I called this months ago…” the smile faded suddenly and he looked momentarily worried as he looked at Remus. “Or is that too soon to joke about?”
Remus laughed quietly, shaking his head, “Nah, you’re okay.”
“Good,” James said, the grin immediately back in place. “Dinner it is, then. Tonight.”
“Yeah,” Remus said, before adding a little hesitantly. “I mean, that’d be great. If I don’t…I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not intruding,” James replied easily, firing off another one of his patented smiles as he flung an arm over Remus’ shoulder. “You’re one of us now.”
Remus gave him a small, grateful smile as the other man turned back to the batter and he shifted his gaze over to Sirius and Teddy by the kitchen table. Sirius was leaning down, listening intently to something Teddy was explaining about his drawing, his expression focused before he said something which made the boy laugh delightedly and Remus felt another swoop in his chest.
James’ words echoed in his head as he watched them, and he felt lighter than he had in a long time, his chest expanding with what he could only describe as love as he listened to them joke and laugh.
Yes, he thought to himself as he watched them. He could definitely get used to this.
