Gravity

Work Text:

Being an X-wing pilot and commander with a war going on meant that Poe should have his schedule full. Still, he always managed to find some time to hang out with Finn and make it seem like he had nothing better to do.
Was there a time maker somewhere in the galaxy? Possibly. And if it's possible, it's also probable that Poe had gotten his hands on it.
"I need to get out of here. Wanna go somewhere?"
"Sure," said Finn, half-heartedly chasing a noddle around his plate, thinking that Poe meant out of the cafeteria, out of the base maybe, but still on the same planet.
Apparently not, but that was alright with Finn too.

They went to a planet where in the bed of a canyon, a river of minerals was glistening in colors Finn had never never imagined possible.
He sat carelessly with his legs dangling off the cliff with Poe crouching a bit to the back. Finn's instinctual fears had been rooted out of him a long time ago. Just in case, BB-8 rolled up behind them and extended a metal pincer to hook onto Finn's jacket.
"I want you to show me everything," Finn said suddenly and Poe, startled, didn't have the time to reply before he continued.
"All the things I haven't seen, things I haven't done. There must be so many."
Poe picked up a rock and tossed it in his hand.
"I'm not that old, you know. There are things I haven't seen or done either."
Finn turned to look at him. Poe passed him the pebble. He turned it over in his palm, then flipped it into the canyon. They lost sight of it before it fell.

They went to a planet with a forest of trees with bark smooth as polished glass that absorbed almost all visible light, appearing as if the world glitched, empty voids where tree trunks should be.
Finn touched the bark hesitantly, enchanted by the phenomenon. A lighter hand joined his, its features enhanced - the shape of its fingernails, the lines on its knuckles. Finn spontaneously reached out, slotted his own fingers in the gaps. His gaze slowly trailed up the other hand's arm to finally meet Poe's eyes staring straight at him with an unreadable expression. He looked at their joined hands once again, the beauty of the contrast and the merge.
I need, I need, I need,
He looked at Poe again, pleading, hoping he'll understand something that Finn himself didn't.
Finn didn't know what he wanted to happen, but when Poe retreated, he felt the lack of it.

They went to a planet with grass tall enough to hide them both - swaying, whistling and whispering in the warm breeze.
They hooted and hollered, playing a game of chase that Poe initiated.
Finn couldn't see further than arm's length, he couldn't be seen either and it called to something primal inside him.
Poe tackled him from behind, his heavy breath washing over Finn's neck as he tried - but not really - to shake him off his back. Finally he turned around, grabbed Poe by the waist and pushed him to the ground. Poe put up a fight - but not really - so they ended up panting and smiling each to their own and at each other.
"Got you," Finn said, because he needed to say something, anything, because if he didn't--
"Yeah, you do."
Poe's voice was soft, small, and Finn wasn't sure if he really heard him or imagined it. He watched Poe wet his lips, watched him blink slowly, watched a flush creep up to his cheeks. Something drummed against his clenched teeth; he opened his mouth just a bit to let it out, and it pulled him down, closer. They stayed like this for a while, their breaths evening out and mingling, until Finn bowed his head and rested his forehead under Poe's chin.
Poe's hand went to Finn's hair and combed through it once before he flinched and threw him off in one swift move. Finn laughed, scrambled to his feet and disappeared in the grass.

They went to a planet empty and barren but for one tree that shot out of the cracked soil, its roots as wide as a man was tall.
Its branches stretched out above them and Finn reached up to pick one of its leaves - it was thick and waxy, when he broke it in half he was surprised by the gelatinous substance inside.
"It's actually a very common species," Poe explained, wiggling his fingers expectantly. Finn passed him half of the leaf. "This big guy just took being unique to another level," he finished and bit into the jelly. Finn raised an eyebrow, but followed suit. It tasted surprisingly pleasant, with a tinge of numbing sourness, so he grabbed a few more.
"Don't eat too much. They're a bit hallucinogenic," Poe said, grinning.
Finn, who was on his fifth leaf already, stopped with his hand in midair. Poe took a step forward, grabbed his wrist and leaned in to take the leaf between his teeth. Finn, mesmerised, pushed it in with his thumb until his fingertip rested on Poe's lips.
Gently, he pushed further and Poe let him, let Finn's thumb trace along the line of his teeth and his mouth. Then he let it slide out and placed an unhurried kiss on Finn's palm.
Before he could take his own hand back, Finn grabbed him by the wrist in turn, and pulled. Poe followed easily and met Finn's lips halfway.
Finn pushed in with his tongue like he did with his thumb, Poe's mouth pliant, warm and welcoming, almost active in his yielding, inviting Finn to take more.
But he didn't. He broke away and smiled. Poe smiled too and behind him, Finn could see a swirl of wind speckled purple and pink.

They went to a planet where days were long, warm and golden, always the last hour before sunset.
Poe was sprawled on his back, basking in the sun, while Finn sat nearby, reverently invested in him- the glint in his hair, his brow, relaxed at last, his lips that he could still remember the taste and texture of, the line of his neck, his hands, the shape of his fingernails. The lighting did Poe all the favors and he had to, needed to see more, all of Poe in all of his radiance, how the shadows danced on his skin, muscles moved underneath, hair stood up on their ends.
He knew Poe would let him. Unfold before and under him in a lazy, confident way.
He didn't even have to ask, because Poe pried open one eye to take a look at him and smile a coy, soft half-smile that Finn had never seen before but somehow knew that it meant come on, then.
Finn placed a hand on his shirt, took a steadying breath, and then slid it under the fabric to splay his palm on the skin of Poe's belly.
Poe sighed contently while Finn held his breath, stroking Poe's skin with his thumb. Finally he gathered the courage and a shadow fell over Poe's eyes, making him open his eyes. Finn was towering over him, expression worried. Poe reached out to smooth the creases on his forehead, then pulled him in for a kiss. He teased for a bit, encouraging Finn to take initiative. Poe had never been that passive by nature, but here, he knew that it should begin this way, that there was something Finn needed that Poe couldn't quite understand, but was willing to give.
Finn undressed him and drifted over his body with no destination while Poe watched through half-lidded eyes. Finally, his eyes fell shut and he gave himself up to the warmth of the sun and of Finn's hands and lips; safe.

They went to a planet bustling with life and Poe moved with ease through it, weaving through the vines, telling Finn about the animals and the plants on the way.
They reached a tree with a trunk so massive it made all the surrounding ones look like grass stems.
There was some kind of a rope ladder leading up, rarely used by the state of it.
"Up we go. Stand guard, BB-8."
The droid started beeping a question that was stopped by Poe's warning finger.
Over the treetops, the branches stretched into a crown, forming a one side open nook with a man-made platform and tired as he was, Finn couldn't help being stunned by the view.
The jungle seemed an endless tangle of green from below, but apparently they were just a mile or so away from the ocean, a bay surrounded by rugged, weathered cliffs. Down one of the cliffs, there rushed a bright orange waterfall. They way it glowed in the dimming light and raised clouds of steam on its descent made Finn realise that it was lava.
Poe stood next to him, hands in his pockets.
"Yavin 4 has quite a bit of volcanic activity and that kind of stuff happens, sometimes."
"Sometimes?"
Poe shrugged and Finn didn't bother to inquire. Up here, it wasn't as hot and humid as it was down in the foliage. The wind carried a faint smell of the ocean with an earthy tinge. So barely there that it could be in his imagination, reminding Finn of how he sometimes felt a scent that his mind recognized as Poe and how it made his head spin just a little bit and his heart long a bit more. Something he'd never felt before, something he would have thought of only as an expression before, the way his heart seemed to physically pull his body towards Poe, pushing against his ribcage. It was a good feeling and he let it lead him.
Poe's lips on Finn's neck, his thumb on the shell of Finn's ear, the tip of his nose sliding against Finn's jaw. Finn tried desperately to corral his thoughts and put a name to all the feelings inside him.
"I... there's so much I have to say to you, but I..."
Poe kissed him long and slow and finally Finn understood that he doesn't have to say it.
"Show me," Poe said, drawing him closer. "Show me everything."
