Ambushed with Kindness

Summary:

Shouta Aizawa loves his husband! A sentence he never thought he’d ever say, let alone mean with all his heart. Years of working as an underground omega hero had shown him the seedier side of life and perhaps jaded him to the idea of happily ever after. But then Izuku Midoriya had crossed his path and suddenly Shouta was surrounded in love, kindness, and compassion from the younger alpha. Now Shouta is happily married to Izuku and they’re even expecting a child! It’s days like this that Shouta can’t help but feel just how lucky he is.

Notes:

This is a Secret Santa gift for: Spelled_with_a- K on the EraserDeku discord channel that this will eventually be collected to. But right now, I'm allowed to post, and I couldn't wait to give K their present! I hope you like it.

This was my first time writing Omegaverse, and I had planned to just write it without writing it, but then the pregnancy happened and well...that threw out that plan (as babies coming are wont to do). I hope I gave you all the fluffy omega and alpha softness you were looking for K.

Much thanks and appreciation to FailxMonster, Madkat, and LakasGatas for helping beta this for me. Their help and support was beyond valuable. They are jewels and I can't thank them enough.

Work Text:

~*~

Shouta woke slowly, for once not being jolted from sleep by some kind of emergency with a quirk gone wrong, or one of his teenaged students doing something ill-advised or borderline illegal, and certainly not by a nightmare of his or Izuku’s. No, this morning he awoke to the soft sounds of his companion’s deep breathing near his ear, with a solid warmth on his left side and an arm resting across his chest.

As he pried his eyelids open and blinked the sleep from his eyes, a glint in the sunlight drew his attention. Seeing the golden band practically glowing on Izuku's finger still made Shouta feel giddy. They'd been dating for three years before Izuku would even consider seriously discussing the M-word. It took another two to convince Izuku he was sincere in his proposal of spending their lives together.

Shouta had been ready to propose the first time he laid eyes on Izuku after graduation. Specifically, two years later, when they worked a child trafficking bust together. What can he say, his sweetheart had done some serious maturing in their time away from each other. Not that Izuku hadn't already been mature beyond his years, with how his childhood had been riddled with quirk prejudice. His sweet little partner had grown taller than Shouta, by just half a centimeter , but it was enough to have it lorded over him if Izuku was feeling particularly petty. Izuku had also grown into a formidable underground hero in just those few years.

Unfortunately, Izuku was less willing to be guided by his alpha instincts than Shouta was to listen to his inner omega, or they'd be celebrating their fifth anniversary rather than just coming up on five months of married bliss.

One of the drawbacks of Izuku’s considerable intelligence is his tendency to second guess and overthink things. While his instincts as a hero had been honed for springing into action in any emergency without hesitation, his unfortunate upbringing made him analyze and hesitate in social situations. He often waited for new acquaintances to drop him as soon as they heard the word ‘quirkless’; and unfortunately, nine times out of ten, they would.

Shouta frowned slightly. How could people be so blind to the brilliance that was his Izuku? They didn't know what they were missing out on! A little hum from his still-sleeping husband brought the smile back to Shouta’s face. Their loss, he supposed. It meant he got to spend most of his free time with Izuku instead of them. Take that, stupid people.

Fortunately, Izuku was now surrounded by so many good friends, both his own and Shouta’s, and their coworkers. Shouta’s eyes traced over the arm laid across his chest, Izuku’s hand protectively guarding his heart, and his fingers soon skated up that strong arm to Izuku’s broad shoulder.

Of course, Izuku had been brought into the UA faculty as soon as Nedzu managed to convince him of the benefit of having a teaching certification, and even before Izuku had been signed into a contract with any agency, Nedzu had him come in as a guest lecturer. Nedzu was never one to let true talent leave his pack.

Shouta’s hand glided up Izuku’s neck, carefully tracing the bite mark that showed to all that they belonged to each other. He spent a few moments reveling in the memory of their honeymoon, when Izuku had claimed him and their bond had finally snapped into place. It had felt as if he was finally breathing deeply after having been gasping for breath his entire life.

Shouta breathed in the faint scent that was uniquely Izuku, holding his breath for just a moment before exhaling. The smell of his favorite hazelnut coffee, spiced cookies, and that indescribable scent of an autumn day where snow was coming made him think of all those late nights together. Nights where they would meet up before patrol simply to chat, or find each other during it to exchange news or the latest gossip on their co-workers where they wouldn’t be overheard. Shouta loved those moments of snatched time as he gently pursued the young alpha.

He softly wound a curl around his finger, smiling at the memories of all those conbini coffees and skewers from food stalls. Izuku hadn't even realized they'd been practically dating for a couple of months at that point.

His Love was such a great husband and hero, but still lacked self-assurance where others were concerned. Almost all of Izuku's classmates in the infamous class A, and even most of class B, kept in close touch and called on his help for their major operations. He knew that Izuku and Nedzu met weekly for tea and chats that lasted hours (if not interrupted by some school emergency). And yet Izuku still fretted anytime he had to meet with parents or go to one of the many Commission-mandated hero events.

Even the Hero Commission, who had initially tried to bar Izuku from getting his hero license, now came crawling to his husband for help. And though Shouta felt he should make them grovel more, Izuku just wanted to help as many as possible and easily gave in to their requests.

Shouta gently traced the shell of Izuku’s ear with a finger. As much as his husband could ramble, it was always so special when Izuku listened to him. Whenever Shouta spoke, whether it had been as his teacher, a fellow hero, or his lover, Izuku drank in every word. He didn’t listen to ready his next rebuttal or to justify his actions, but to try to understand. And the people that actually tried to understand Shouta were few and precious.

Shouta gently caressed Izuku's forehead with his thumb and stopped to cup his cheek. The man was so beautiful as he slept! His mussed curls falling across those adorable, freckled cheeks, and his face smoothed from the worry and care his Starlight often wore-- simply stunning. And Shouta was the one that got to see it. The only problem Shouta found with the beauty of a sleeping Izuku was that he couldn't look into his husband's gorgeous green eyes.

Oh, Izuku's eyes were a subject that Shouta could go on and on about. Poor Zashi and Nem had heard him wax poetic about Izuku's gorgeous green eyes so many times before Shouta actually approached the younger man for a date. He really owed them for those months of pining after Izuku.

He gently caressed Izuku's cheek with his thumb before leaning in to lightly kiss his forehead.

“Izu, love,” he whispered, “it's time to get up.”

Izuku groaned and snuggled into Shouta as he murmured, “Ten more minutes.”

Shouta shifted away but brought his arms together around his lover.

“We have to get up today, love,” he reminded Izuku. “Or did you not want to know if the kit is going to be a girl or a boy?”

Izuku’s head snapped up and his hand instantly moved to the bump in Shouta’s abdomen.

“I’m up! I’m up!” he insisted. He kissed Shouta’s temple, then bent to kiss his stomach. “Good morning, baby,” he sang before kissing the bump again.

“I see how it is,” Shouta snarked. “You love the baby more than me.”

“Of course not, love,” Izuku said as he continued to rub circles on Shouta’s abdomen. “But since you’ve told me repeatedly that my morning breath makes your nausea worse, I figured I shouldn’t breathe directly in your face.” He winked up at Shouta before talking to his belly again. “We don’t need to make Papa sicker than you’re already doing, eh, Donut?”

“Don’t give me that logic this early in the morning,” Shouta pouted.

“How about I get up, brush my teeth, and then come back to give you a proper morning kiss?” Izuku suggested.

Shouta pretended to think for a moment, but soon nodded his agreement.

Izuku pressed up from the bed, but quickly bent down to kiss the baby again, “Be right back – you be good for Papa.” He kissed Shouta's temple as he exited the bed.

Shouta chuckled as he watched his ridiculous husband hurry into the bathroom to brush his teeth. Seriously, how did Shouta get so lucky to find such an attentive and adoring lover? He rubbed the growing bump as he felt the lightest flutterings of movements in his womb.

“Did daddy wake you up, kitten?” Shouta purred to their child. “Just keep that in mind when it’s his turn to change you, okay?” He began to hum a bit of a song.

“Hey, now,” Izuku’s voice came from the bathroom, “don’t start turning Donut against me before the pup’s even born.”

Izuku emerged from the bathroom smiling so brightly at Shouta.

“You know I have to start now,” Shouta said as Izuku neared. “As soon as our kitten looks at you, they’ll be wrapped around your little finger.” He leaned into a kiss. It was slow and gentle and perfect for this morning. “After all, that’s where you’ve got me,” he added as he pulled back.

“I think you’ve got that backwards, love,” Izuku said as he pressed more kisses into Shouta’s skin. “I am totally,” a kiss, “and hopelessly,” another, “in love with you.” He trailed kisses down one side of Shouta’s neck and up the other, making sure to lavish a few extra kisses on  Shouta’s mating bite. “You’ve got me wrapped around your little finger as you are wrapped around my heart.” He finished with another sweet kiss to Shouta’s lips.

“Mmm flatterer,” Shouta mumbled as he pulled Izuku near so they could rest their foreheads together. “As much as I love waking up like this-“ he began.

“-we need to get ready to go,” Izuku finished. He threw back the covers and scooped Shouta up into a princess carry. “Do you think Donut will actually let us find out if we’re expecting jelly or custard, this time?” he asked.

Shouta was laughing at his cornball of a husband. Every morning that they had a doctor appointment scheduled, Izuku would hardly let his feet touch the ground before they left the house. Shouta knew his alpha was strong, but there was something extra comforting to being cradled in his arms as they made their way to the kitchen. He felt perfectly protected and supported.

“Are you going to let me cook breakfast today?” Shouta asked as Izuku placed him gently in his chair at the table. “It’s my week after all.”

“Nope,” Izuku said with a smile. “Your job is to rest and relax so that your blood pressure stays in the normal range for your age and-”

“Izuku, I was in great physical condition before we started this family. I think I can handle making some breakfast,” he cut in.

His husband placed a hand on Shouta’s shoulder, not heavy, not restraining, but it still stopped him from rising.

“Please, love,” he begged. “Let me pamper you and our pup before we head to the doctor?”

Shouta stopped his objection as he recalled how much trauma Izuku had around medical… things . Being quirkless meant having the cheapest and usually the most terrible doctors and going to the community hospitals that had to treat you– always over full and understaffed. Even his hero status didn’t guarantee Izuku would get proper medical care.

“Okay, love,” Shouta said as he pulled Izuku’s hand from his shoulder to press a kiss into his palm. “We’ll let you treat us like royalty this morning,” he grinned up. “Donut is demanding…” he rubbed his stomach as if consulting a crystal ball, “French toast this morning. Do you feel up to the challenge?”

“Got it,” Izuku said with a relieved look on his face. “One plate of French toast with fresh strawberries for my beautiful babes.” He dropped a kiss on the top of Shouta’s head before moving to pull eggs and milk out of the fridge.

Shouta watched Izuku as he danced through the steps of making breakfast. He did allow Shouta to cut up the strawberries after he’d washed them and tried to find other ways to let Shouta be involved without him moving about too much. Shouta was both touched and exasperated with his husband. They both took delight in sneaking pieces of the chopped-up fruit when the other wasn’t looking, though there was very little time when Shouta wasn’t watching Izuku.

Soon enough, they were sitting down to plates of French toast piled high with strawberries topped with a bit of powdered sugar and whipped cream. Izuku had scrambled the remaining egg batter and mixed in a bit of baby spinach and some cheese to give the pregnant omega extra protein and iron. Glasses of orange juice (and in Shouta’s case a couple of specialty vitamins) rounded out their breakfast. Normally, they’d have coffee or tea to help them wake up, but since Shouta was abstaining from coffee for the duration of his pregnancy, Izuku kindly made sure he only drank the elixir of the gods where Shouta wouldn’t be tempted to swipe it from him.

As they ate, they discussed their plans for what to do after the doctor’s visit. The baby shower Hizashi threw for them last week had left them with a lot of items, some of which neither one knew the name let alone function of. They planned to get an extra set of shelves for the nursery on the way home instead. Shouta wanted to assemble it right away, but Izuku insisted they wait for Mei to come help him put it together in the evening. That just meant sorting through the presents, and maybe writing thank you notes while they waited for the mad inventor to get off work.

Izuku sighed and Shouta was immediately on alert.

“What’s up, Zu?”

“Nothing,” Izuku answered as he softly smiled across the table. “It’s just that-” he gestured to the room, the table, between the two of them, “this is so much better than I ever dreamed it would be.” He reached out a hand and Shouta immediately reached back. “When I was young, and isolated, and hurting, I would think of the family I would have some day.” He squeezed Shouta’s hand. “I would live in a huge house with my pretty mate, and we would have the most adorable children.” Izuku kissed the back of the hand he was holding. “And here I am in a medium sized apartment with my gorgeous, stunning, brilliant mate-” he kissed Shouta’s hand again, “and we’re about to have an adorable kid and it’s-” he had to take a deep breath. “It’s not what I had imagined— it’s so much better!”

Shouta felt tears in the corners of his eyes. “Oh, you sweet sap,” he said as he swiped his napkin across his eyes. “How dare you do this to me? You know the hormones are making me cry like I’m actually a Midoriya by blood and not by bond.”

Izuku laughed at his husband’s words. “Face it, Shou, you’re never getting away from tears in this family.”

They both chuckled.

“Give me a moment to clear this all up, and we can go get dressed,” Izuku said as he jumped up to take the plates to the sink.

“Yes, my minion,” Shouta said as he stuck his nose in the air and clapped haughtily in Izuku’s direction. “The grand Highness Donut demands to be carried to the bedroom and swathed in our finest robes and tiara before addressing the masses.”

Shouta tried to maintain a pretentious expression, but the pleased scent rolling off his alpha made him break out laughing.

“You ridiculous, wonderful, kind man,” Shouta said as Izuku scooped him up from the chair. “How will our child ever learn to walk if you insist on carrying them everywhere?”

“Isn’t it a little early to be worried about them walking?”

“You, Mr. ‘Ten-year-plan-with-backups-A-B-C-and-D’, are asking me if it's too early to worry about walking when I know for a certainty that you were looking at college applications for our unborn child just last night?”

Shouta’s question was met with a huff and Izuku dropping him back on their bed.

“I was just looking at the average college tuition to see how much we'd need to save now so that we could support our children when they-”

“Zuku, the Donut and their siblings will obviously take after you. They're going to be brilliant and wind up getting full scholarships, or be captured for staging a global uprising,” Shouta murmurs as he changes into the clothes he'd laid out last night knowing Izuku would be disinclined to let him rummage through the closet or their drawers today.

“No child of mine will be arrested for trying to take over the world,” Izuku informs Shouta's stomach. “If you're set on world domination, you've got to do it right . Do you understand, young dough ball?” Shouta broke into a laugh at Izuku's serious face. “Aaaaand, you will not fight a sibling for control over any parts of the land, sea, or air space. You hear me?”

Shouta shook his head and gently soothed his child. “Do you really think you could stop our children from fighting? Especially when they’ll be growing up around Bakugou and his brood?”

Izuku laughed at that as he reached out a forearm to gently scent Shouta. “You've got me there,” he admitted. Shouta eagerly rubbed the inside of his arm across Izuku’s offered wrist. “But Nedzu's offered to be the kids’ godparents, so-”

“Izuku Midoriya, did you give our child away to Mother Gothel? Have you sold our child's soul to the devil? Are you telling me-” Shouta forgot whatever his next objection was going to be as Izuku pressed warm lips to Shouta's while cradling his face between hands that were already working to turn Shouta boneless.

Shouta pulled away.

“Nice try Mis-ter Midoriya,” he said with a pout. “But I haven't forgotten that you've promised our first born to Rumpelstiltskin.”

Izuku laughed as he knelt to put Shouta's socks on the omega’s feet.

“I haven't promised our child, or future children, to Nedzu,” he assured as he gently worked the sock on, a teasing smile on his face. “You know as well as I do that Nedzu merely allows us all to exist on this earth. All humans are subject to his will.” He pressed a quick peck to Shouta's knee before moving to the other foot.

Shouta chuckled, “Too true.” He ran careful fingers through Izuku's curls. When his husband kissed his knee again, indicating he was done with the sock, Shouta tightened his hold on those precious green curls at the back of Izuku's head.

His husband's eyes widened briefly before focusing intently on Shouta's face.

“Have I ever mentioned,” Shouta purred as he slowly pulled Izuku closer, “just how sexy it is when you take care of us like this?”

The smell of coffee and arousal flooded the room as Izuku willingly let Shouta guide them together.

Izuku cleared his throat, “You, uh, you may have um, mentioned once or twice.”

Shouta held Izuku in place, barely any space between them. “And yet, you would,” he paused as he breathed in Izuku's scent, “ tempt me like this before we need to leave?”

Izuku closed the gap between them as he captured Shouta's lips. One arm came round Shouta's shoulders while the other traveled up Shouta's thigh. Izuku carefully lowered them back to the mattress, showing off his great dexterity by making sure they ended up on their sides. Izuku's hands were under Shouta's shirt tenderly caressing his sides, back, and abdomen, while his lips were devouring Shouta's mouth and neck. Shouta began gently kneading Izuku's shoulders, pausing to run his fingers through those luxurious emerald locks as he returned kiss for kiss with Izuku.

They were a tangle of limbs for only a moment, or so Shouta thought, but his eyes caught the clock. He tapped Izuku's shoulder twice, and Izuku froze immediately.

“As much as I enjoy being ravished by you,” Shouta said, “if we don't leave in the next three minutes, we will be so late they'll make me reschedule.”

Izuku looked at the clock then back down to Shouta. “We'll pick this back up later today,” he said as he started straightening his clothes.

He reached to pull the hem of Shouta's shirt back down and said to the baby bump, “Your papa's lucky he's already pupped right now, or we'd be working on making your new brother or sister.”

Shouta groaned and couldn't help the flare of desire that escaped him.

“It's that kind of talk that got us in this situation in the first place,” he reminded his husband as he gently stroked his stomach.

Izuku picked him up to carry him to the front door.

“What can I say,” Izuku said as he kissed Shouta's temple. “You look so beautiful like this-- full of love and life.”

“Funny how you don't tell me I'm beautiful while I'm puking my guts up every morning,” Shouta grumbled sarcastically while slipping on his shoes.

“That's because I'm not a fool-idiot,” Izuku said as he carefully placed Shouta's capture weapon over Shouta's head. “I know very well that saying something like that, no matter how beautiful you are all the time, will get me killed-- or worse, exiled to the couch.”

“Damn straight,” Shouta muttered into the familiar weight around his neck.

He watched as Izuku strapped on his “civilian” utility belt. It contained some emergency supplies as well as a few of the concealed weapons that neither of them felt safe going without, especially when out of their hero uniforms.

“Come on, gorgeous,” Izuku said as he threaded their fingers together, “we have a date with destiny.”

Shouta snickered. “You know that Destiny is on vacation and won't be our technician this month,” he reminded him as he opened the door.

Izuku subtly rubbed their wrists together to mix their scents before leaving the house. Shouta rolled his eyes as he pulled them out into the walkway.

“Zu, don't you think all that rolling around on the bed we just did thoroughly scented me?”

Izuku grinned at his husband. “I can never be too careful with you, my Opal.” He brought their hands up to kiss the back of Shouta's hand. “Some thieves might try to claim what is mine ,” a low growl came from deep in his chest, “and I don't particularly feel like chasing down a villain on this important day.”

Shouta huffed a laugh but didn't suppress the shiver his mate’s growl sent down his back. “God, you're so gorgeous when you're protecting us,” he whispered.

Izuku snorted. “You've got to stop being this distracting,” he complained even as he pulled Shouta nearer. “We'll never make it there if-”

“If we don't get a move on,” Shouta agreed. “But I am holding you to that promise of trying to pup me again when we get home, despite the fact that’s not how any of this pregnancy stuff works.”

“It's a deal,” Izuku said as they hurried to the car.

~*~

Forty minutes later they were sitting in the doctor's office when Shouta got called back to the exam room.

“How are you feeling Mr. Aizawa?” the sonogram tech asked as the appointment got under way.

“Pretty good, for a pregnant person,” was Shouta's reply.

They measured his blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate before Shouta laid back and got prepared for the warm gel and the ultrasound wand.

“I'm so glad you guys have the gel warmers,” Shouta said as the tech started moving the wand and clicking buttons.

“Oh, me, too,” the woman said. “They didn't exist when I had my kids, and it was the part of the visits I dreaded the most.” She smiled and pointed to a place on the screen. “You want to hear some heart beats?”

Both Shouta and Izuku nodded excitedly as they grasped each other's hand. A click and then a rhythmic whooshing sound filled the air. Shouta looked up to see Izuku with tears in his eyes.

“Sorry, Shou,” he said as he swiped at the edge of his eye. “But this always gets me.”

“My big, tough alpha, taken down by a heartbeat,” Shouta said with a smile.

“You got me-” he broke off. “Does that sound just a bit…um…off?” he asked their tech obviously trying not to worry Shouta.

“Oh, yeah, Baby B is certainly interfering with getting a clean sound from Baby A,” she said distractedly.

“Baby B?” Shouta asked at the same time as Izuku said, "There's two?”

The tech nodded. Looking at their stunned expressions, she started clicking away as she moved the wand to get a good shot of both babies. She used the mouse to outline two separate blobs of white against the black of Shouta's womb.

“Baby A,” she circled the one on the left. “And Baby B,” she circled the right.

“But no one said…” Shouta trailed off, trying to think if anyone had mentioned twins or two babies before.

“How could this be?” Izuku was sitting, stunned.

Their tech was quick to pull up the sonograms in Shouta's file and gave them all a thorough look over while nodding her head.

“Well one, or both, of your babies is very good at stealth,” she replied. “I don't see any indication of two babies in any of your previous pictures.”

“Good at stealth, eh?” Izuku smirked over at Shouta. “Taking after Papa already, hmm?”

“Zu, you're underground, too,” Shouta chuckled. “They could very well be taking after Daddy.”

“Would you like to know if you're having boys, girls, or one of each?” the tech asks.

“Yes,” they answered together.

“Well, Baby A is… a girl,” she said after moving the ultrasound wand around for a bit. She glided over to the right and did more clicking before pronouncing, “And Baby B is a girl, too. Congratulations!”

Izuku swooped in to kiss Shouta soundly.

“We're having girls,” he whispered as tears fell from his eyes.

“We're having girls,” Shouta confirmed as he wiped the tears from Izuku's cheeks.

The tech gave them a moment as she cleaned off Shouta's stomach and printed out copies of the sonograms.

“I'm so happy for you two,” she said as she handed the pictures over to Shouta, “but you'll have to celebrate elsewhere, I'm afraid. We need the room for the next expectant couple.”

“Of course,” Izuku said as he took Shouta's hand to help him down from the table. “We'll get out of your hair. We have other plans to get to.” He refused to let go of Shouta.

“Thanks for these,” Shouta said as he held the pictures up.

“You're welcome,” she smiled at them. “Now get,” she shooed them away playfully.

Izuku laughed as he pulled Shouta from the room, their next appointment already scheduled.

“Okay, I have an idea for sharing this news,” Izuku said as they walked back to their car.

Shouta nodded, not really listening, focused more on the pictures in his hand.

“You're just gonna let me do what I want?” Izuku was delighted, but wary. “Shou?”

“We're having girls — two girls,” he said as he stopped at the side of their car. “Zu, I think I could handle one girl, but two?”

Izuku immediately pulled Shouta into a hug. Shouta buried his face in the crook of his alpha’s neck, nuzzling against his mating bite.

“Hey, you're not alone in this,” Izuku crooned as he gently ran a hand up and down Shouta's back. “And remember, we have a lot of backup we can call in. My mom and Yagi both moved close by as soon as we told them we were going to try for kids,” he softly recalls. “And Nedzu already has Cementos and Power Loader creating the best nursery and day care at UA. I hear he wants you to be there when he interviews the staff for the center.”

Shouta sniffs, and tries not to cry at the love and care Izuku is surrounding him in.

“We can do this, Love,” Izuku murmured in his ear. “Please,” he kissed his temple, “let me help you…help us.”

Shouta took a deep breath and held it. He pulled Izuku tighter as he exhaled.

“You're right, Zu, we can do this.” He pulled back enough to look him in the eye. “I can do almost anything as long as we're doing it together.”

“That's my Precious Prince,” he kissed Shouta's forehead. “Do you want to save the trip to the furniture store for another day?” he offered. “We could go home, cuddle, take a nap, maybe watch a movie and unwind.”

“Yeah, let's do that,” Shouta said as he held onto Izuku.

After a moment Izuku spoke up

“You'll have to let me go if you want to get in the car, Shou.”

Shouta laughed. “You've got me there.” He slowly pulled away from Izuku's hold, pausing only once to dart back in to peck his husband's lips. “Okay, let's go home.”

Izuku helped Shouta into the car, before scurrying to the driver's side. “How would you feel about one quick stop?” he asked Shouta.

“As long as it's quick,” he answered with a yawn.

“I'll be fast,” Izuku assured him as he patted Shouta's knee.

~*~

Shouta woke up to Izuku opening the door to the back. He put a bag and two balloons in the back seat, then took up his driver position to get them home.

~*~

Their afternoon was spent cuddled on the couch watching a few of their favorite movies. Shouta eventually fell asleep while Izuku ran his fingers through his silky black hair. Izuku had tried to move him to the bed, but Shouta sleepily insisted he stay on the couch. Izuku was fine with that; it gave him time to finish the craft project he was working on while keeping an eye on Shouta.

The sizzling sound of hot oil and the smell of stir-fried vegetables woke Shouta several hours later.

“Something smells good,” Shouta said as he followed his nose into the kitchen. He broke out into a smile as he watched Izuku check the rice cooker while keeping the vegetables moving.

He moved into the room and gave Izuku a hug from behind. Making sure to nuzzle the nape of Izuku's neck, Shouta covered his husband's neck and shoulder with kisses.

“You play dirty, Shou,” Izuku said through giggles even as he tilted his head to give Shouta more room. “Tickling me and tempting me when you know I have my hands full and can't stop.”

“You could stop,” Shouta smiled into the bite on Izuku's neck, “but the food would burn.”

“You know I can't stop,” Izuku said even as Shouta felt him shiver against him. “I have to take care of my family, and that means making sure you and the girls eat.”

The love and gratitude he felt toward Izuku welled up inside of Shouta. He'd thought he loved his husband with all his heart this morning, but now he feels as if it's at least doubled.

“Thank you for taking such good care of us,” Shouta murmured into Izuku's ear. “Such a good alpha, protecting and nurturing our pack.”

“Shou,” Izuku's voice was strained, “please go sit at the table so I can finish this food and not abandon it to turn around and ravish you.”

Shouta had never been so torn in his life, on the one hand he wanted to do the very reasonable thing Izuku had asked of him, on the other he wanted to tear his mate from the stove and take him on the table. Only the very real threat of starting a grease fire while naked got him to back away from his husband.

“Can I at least set the table?” Shouta asked.

“Yes, please,” Izuku was adding in some soy sauce followed by a little cornstarch slurry. “Keep those hands busy, and away from me, because I cannot be held responsible for my actions if you touch me again within the next five minutes.”

Shouta laughed and Izuku pouted.

“We have all night, Zu,” Shouta purred. “I even had a nap.” He wiggled his eyebrows at Izuku, which made the man break out in laughter. “And neither of us have work tomorrow.”

“Fine,” he chuckled. “Get the rice and we can eat.”

Dinner was full of laughter, especially as Izuku explained his idea for their baby announcement. They talked through a few of the finer details, but they had already been on pretty much the same page from the beginning. In fact, Izuku had set up almost everything while Shouta slept.

While Izuku did the dishes, Shouta searched through the baby clothes to find two particular onesies. He found them just as Izuku called down the hall that the camera was ready and waiting for their stars. Shaking his head over how sweet his husband was, Shouta went to join Izuku in the living room.

"Aaaaand, Sent!" Izuku pressed an icon on his phone, then quickly turned it off.  "Now," he swept Shouta up into a bridal carry. "I do believe we have some business to return to,” he began pressing kisses into Shouta's forehead, cheek, and jaw as he walked them toward their bedroom.

All across Japan people were receiving a long-anticipated announcement from Izuku. It showed Izuku and Shouta sitting on their couch. The wall behind them was decorated with a “Welcome!” sign with pink, blue, and purple balloons and streamers on each end.

On either side of the couple was a balloon proclaiming, “It's a Girl!”. The balloon next to Shouta was being anchored by a stuffed Nedzu doll, complete with a soft, fuzzy teacup. Izuku's balloon was anchored with a Ryuuko plushie showing the hero in her dragon form.

Both men held picture frames decorated with stickers of cakes, pies, and ice cream sundaes. Each frame contained one of the sonogram pictures, surrounded by more of the dessert stickers.

Shouta's frame was labeled “Donut” while Izuku's was labeled “Eclair”.

Beneath each frame they also held a baby onesie of official hero merch. Izuku's well known penchant for collecting merch led all of their friends and co-workers (most of them heroes with their own merchandise lines) to gift the couple at least one or more items of clothing to keep the kid in officially licensed clothes. Although, with the revelation of twins, they may still need more.

Shouta held a tiny onesie that was obviously based off of Midnight, while Izuku was rather proudly holding the Uravity onesie under Eclair’s picture frame.

Lettering at the top of the picture said: Debuting in November, the newest underground heroes of the AizaDoriya agency. Smaller lettering at the bottom read: The twins are due around the 20th. Shouta and our girls are doing fine.

Shouta's phone began to ping with notifications and calls. They didn't hear however, as they were…otherwise engaged until the following morning.
