15 Days (I Still Hate It)

Summary:

Midnight approaches, but not everyone's looking forward to it.

Chapter 1: 1 Hour

This is stupid.

There isn’t any good reason, and he knows he isn’t supposed to be. Kids everywhere are so excited, while here he is, getting anxious. He can't even push his feelings aside to just simply enjoy the moment. He’s gonna get all stuck up inside his head and ruin the night.

All because Bonnie doesn't like the sounds of fireworks.

Maybe talking to Gregory about it would at least get his mind off of it.

Bonnie sees Gregory on the couch, just sitting down idly. The kid might have something on his mind, but he doesn't mind the company as Bonnie sits next to him.

“Hey, kiddo, you excited for tonight?” Bonnie asks.

“N- no. Not really.” Gregory sadly replies.

“Oh, why not?”

“I-” Gregory thinks even harder, like he doesn't want to say it. “Nevermind, it's stupid.”

“Nah, it's okay.” He doesn't want to pry, but he does want to reassure the kid. “But if you do wanna tell me, I promise it won't be stupid at all.”

Gregory nods. They sit together in silence until he speaks up, “Bonnie… I'm… not really excited for the fireworks. It'll be too noisy.”

Oh. “Wait… really?”

“See? I told you it was stupid.”

“No, no, that's not what I meant! I mean… I'm scared, too, actually.”

“But, aren't you…”

“A big ol’ robot who isn't supposed to be afraid of anything? Yeah… I guess it's ‘cause of my sensitive rabbit ears, y’know?”

Gregory nods again.

“So it's okay, I get it.”

“Yeah. I thought I'd be over it by now, but I'm still really not looking forward to all this loud stuff yet.”

Bonnie understands. It's been just over two weeks since the kid was stuck in the place hunted all night by infected animatronics. Even though now it's the least of their worries, as everyone safely resides in Cassie's house, Gregory's still plagued with nightmares and panic attacks. “But hey, at least we're going through this together, right kiddo?” He places his paw around the kid’s shoulder, and Gregory leans in.

“Yeah. Thanks, Bonnie.”

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I'm still writing! I just get distracted by lots of stuff, like the idea for this fic, which I got like right after the new year happened for me

Chapter 2: 40 Minutes

The two sat together for a while, talking about what they did throughout the day. Gregory and Cassie just chilled together, playing lots of video games, and Bonnie was yet again explaining to Freddy that “you don't need to call Cassie's dad anything fancy, like with ‘Mr.’ or ‘Mechanic’, just 'Casey’ is fine.”

Actually, speaking of Freddy, he walks into the living room, excited at spotting where the two are sitting and holds up sparklers. “Hello, I was looking for you two! Look at this, Mister- I mean Casey got us these to play with outside! Do you want to join?”

Gregory shakes his head, and Bonnie answers, “Sorry, Freddy, we're not really up for it right now.”

“Oh, alright,” Freddy replies, “But I promise to come back inside before it is midnight!”

A few minutes later, to Bonnie's and Gregory's surprise, Monty comes inside. They see the gator enter a little panicked; he seems to be relieved as he closes the front door.

“Hey, man,” Bonnie greets, concerned for his friend. “You doing alright?”

“Hey, guys,” Monty quietly replies, as if he's out of breath. “Yeah, sure, fine… I just… wanna stay with you guys? If that's okay?”

“Oh, uh… yeah!” Gregory answers. He asks Bonnie, “That's fine with you, right?”

He takes a bit too long to answer. “Um… yeah! Yeah, it's fine.”

Bonnie regrets hesitating as he sees Monty look away, defeated. “Oh… nevermind, I'll just leave y'all alone, I get it-”

“Wait, Monty! No, I-” Bonnie quickly interrupts. “I, uh- stay with us! Please?”

“You really sure guys? I thought you two are still scared of me.”

“Yeah, but, we're trying not to be! It'd be nice to start the new year off with you. You're still one of my best friends.”

“But… I've hurt you guys…”

“It wasn't your fault!” Gregory argues. “We've told you already that it was that stupid virus… thingy… whatever that controlled you. And it's already gone, so like… stop being dumb and hang out with us already!”

“Okay, okay, I'll sit with ya guys,” he chuckles. “But I don't know if I'll be able to do the ‘stop being dumb’ thing.” Monty ruffles Gregory's hair as he sits down.

Chapter 3: 20 Minutes

Later, Foxy walks in. “Hey there, mateys,” he greets, but not as excitedly as he usually does, “would ye mind if I… if I… stayed with ya tonight?”

“Yeah, of course!” Bonnie answers.

Foxy slowly and awkwardly walks over to the middle of the couch. “Could I… uh… in between the… sit?” He attempts to ask.

Monty, losing his cool, just awkwardly stares, and eventually nods. “Yeah, you can… uh…”

Bonnie and Gregory give each other a look, clearly knowing about those two’s crush on each other.

Then another wave of explosions come and rumble the house.

Monty and Bonnie both make a yelp and jump up a little, but they notice Gregory and Foxy aren't handling it as well.

Gregory clung onto Bonnie noticeably tighter, and Foxy had his paws clutching his head as he crouched in on himself and made small whimpers.

Monty carefully slid closer and gently laid his hand on Foxy’s back. “Hey, man, ya good?”

“I… I'm sorry, matey…” Foxy mutters. “The, F- fireworks…”

Monty immediately pulls him into a hug. “It's okay, man… I'm scared too, y’know?”

Foxy then hugs him back. More quietly, he says, “Thanks.” His trembling slows down, bit by bit.

While Bonnie is gently embracing Gregory, who is fiercely holding on to him, he looks over and appreciates how Foxy and Monty have each other for support.

“Monty?” Foxy asks, a bit more calm. “I'm glad I get to start the new year with ye, lad.”

“Yeah?” Monty replies. “Me too, man. Thanks.”

Notes:

Not sure how clear this comes across, but Foxy's fear of fireworks is because he's basically a dog

Chapter 4: 240 Seconds

Foxy joined in on tending to Gregory, sitting next to him and Bonnie while talking to keep his mind off of the night.

“I know the storm be scary, but we be here to sail through it with you, lad. Yer goin’ ta be okay.” He tells Gregory as he gently pets the boy's hair. Even if Foxy himself is still a little shaken, it's nice he can help calm the boy down.

“There you are!” Freddy says as he walks in from outside. “It has been fun playing with the sparklers, but I could not miss out on spending the New Year with you two.”

“Freddy!” Gregory pops out from behind Bonnie's shoulder.

As Freddy joins the sofa, he ruffles the boy’s hair and gives Bonnie a kiss.

“I am looking forward to spending the new year with you back, Bonnie,” Freddy says, giving him and Gregory a big embrace. Foxy pulls away to give them room.

“And with you, my superstar, I am so grateful I met you,” Freddy nuzzles and kisses the boy’s hair.

Then Freddy places his paw on Foxy’s shoulder, “And you too, Foxy, we are incredibly lucky we get to have you back. I am grateful to see you every day.”

“Thanks, matey,” Foxy then rejoins the hug.

“And with you, Monty,” Freddy says, making Monty look up at him with surprise.

“Wait, really?” He asks. “No hard feelin’s?”

“None at all, Monty! You are still one of my best friends.”

Monty smiles and joins into the hug. “Thanks, guys. Y’all are the best!”

A short moment later, the fireworks ramp up in intensity and the countdown quickly approaches. Bonnie mentally prepares himself, but then he feels Gregory cling on as tight as he can.

The poor kid is shaking, and maybe even crying at this point.

“It's okay, kiddo,” Bonnie murmurs. “You're gonna be safe.”

“We're here for ye, lad,” Foxy tells him.

“We've got ya, tough guy!” Monty cheers.

Freddy promises, “Everything is going to be okay, superstar.”

The roaring voices begin counting down from ten, but Bonnie and Foxy are both hugging onto Gregory tight and keeping him safe, surrounded by Freddy and Monty as well.

They all prepare for the worst, but as the last seconds of the year run out, they all know they'd be okay.
