Work Text:

Dazai stared down from the bridge into the water. The water looked even more inviting than other days. He didn’t understand why, but today felt different. The urge to jump off that bridge and greet the water below was too much to bear today.

Maybe because Dazai had a stressful week. He had mounds of paper work that kept piling up. New cases to take up. And having to do deal with the aftermath of the Decay of Angels incident.

With all that being said, he had no intentions of doing any of that. It was not out of laziness, but out of simple exhaustion. Dazai was tired. Exhausted, even.

Alcohol has always been his go to stress reliever but it has been deemed ineffective this week. The problem is that he hasn’t been able to get drunk enough to block out his thoughts. Hell, his thoughts have been getting louder and louder.

So that’s why Dazai was there. He was there to clear his head the best way he could.

Dazai slowly climbed over the bridge’s railing and loosely held one to it. He looked out onto the water as if it was the most beautiful thing in the world. He took a deep sigh and nearly let go of the railing until he felt someone’s gloved hand.

Dazai quickly turned to see the culprit who stopped him only to see a red slug. It was Chuuya. Of course it was.

“What the hell are doing shitty Dazai?!,” Chuuya yelled. Dazai looked at him with pure confusion. “What was chibi doing here?, Dazai thought. Dazai turned his body toward Chuuya and looked him in his eyes.

“What brings the hat-rack here? Did you miss me or something? Come looking for your master like a good dog? ,” Dazai chuckled to himself. He seemed to try to shift the conversation elsewhere, but Chuuya wasn’t having it. “Oh try and change the subject! Answer my question. What were you doing,” Chuuya bluntly said.

This took Dazai aback a bit. Usually chibi fell for that trick. “I guess a dog like him can learn some new tricks,” Dazai thought to himself. “I was just taking a stroll and I wanted to look at the water. So mean to assume I’m up to no good, Chuuya!,” Dazai dramatically exclaimed. Chuuya was unamused by Dazai’s shitty explaining, but he knew better than to push the issue.

Chuuya stared at him for a second until he decided he had enough of Dazai’s antics and dragged him from the other side of the railing towards him. “Ow! Chuuya, that hurts! Don’t you have any manners??!!, Dazai yelped. Dazai tried to escape from Chuuya’s grasped until he felt a warm sensation on his cheek. He looked over to Chuuya in shock. Did chibi just kiss him?

Chuuya had flushed expression on his face, but had a tenseness to him. “Don’t dare leave me Dazai,”Chuuya grumbled. Dazai was still frozen from the kiss so Chuuya had to drag his sorry ass away from the bridge railing. Dazai finally awakened from his daze when Chuuya gave him a hug. “If you leave me, I’m gonna find you in the afterlife and punch you in your dumbass face!,” Chuuya said into Dazai’s coat as he still clung onto him.

Dazai slowly hugged Chuuya back showing him how reciprocated his feelings. They stayed there hugging each other tightly until Chuuya broke the silence saying “C’mon mackerel, I wanna go eat I’m starving,”.

Before Dazai knew it, he was being dragged by a slug to get some food. Maybe being with the slug wasn’t that bad.
