Chapter Text

Emily sat on the cold, wet ground, drenched from head to toe. The rain poured down relentlessly, mirroring the tears streaming down her face. Her once radiant halo was shattered, a cruel reminder of her fall from grace. Her wings, which were once pure and majestic, now appeared twisted and tattered.

In the midst of her sorrow, Lucifer, the fallen angel himself, stumbled upon her. A look of shock and concern crossed his face as he approached her. "Oh, sweet baby Jesus!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine compassion. In a swift motion, he took off his coat and wrapped it around her trembling form. "I just... wanted to help," Emily choked out, her voice barely audible through her sobs.

Without hesitation, Lucifer pulled her into a tight embrace, offering solace in his arms. "We all just want to help," he whispered softly, his voice laced with a hint of bitterness, "but in the end, we ruin everything."

Emily continued to cry, her tears merging seamlessly with the rain that fell around her. Through her despair, she mustered the strength to ask, "But... but my sister, Sera, will come to help me... right? Sera will come... right?"

Lucifer's heart sank as he shook his head gently. He knew the pain of loss and abandonment all too well, and the thought of breaking such news to the fragile Seraphim shattered what was left of his own wounded heart. "I'm sorry, kid," he said, his voice filled with sorrow. "Sera won't be coming. It's just... just us now."

Lucifer guided Emily to her feet, his grip firm yet gentle. "C'mon, kid, follow me. It's not a safe place here," he urged. Without a second thought, he lifted her up and held her hand tightly as they walked away from the despair that consumed her.

Emily's confusion was evident as she looked around, trying to discern their destination. "Where are you taking me?" she asked, her voice filled with uncertainty.

"Home," Lucifer replied simply, offering her a small, sad smile. Emily's confusion only deepened. "B-but I was kicked out of Heaven. I don't think they want to see me again."

Lucifer chuckled lightly, his voice tinged with sadness. "Your new home," he said, as they approached a grand palace. "We, exiles, have to help each other. We're all we have now."

As they entered the palace, Emily's eyes widened in awe. Rubber ducks of all shapes and sizes adorned every corner, their colorful presence bringing a sense of childlike whimsy to the place. "A lot of ducks... neat," she stated, unable to suppress a giggle. Lucifer blushed, clearly embarrassed, muttering quietly to himself, "Ah yes, depression is a bitch."

Emily found herself a cozy spot on a couch adorned with more rubber ducks and sunk into its soft embrace. Lost in her memories, she absentmindedly picked up one of the rubber ducks, squeezing it gently. To her surprise, she noticed that it bore a striking resemblance to her sister, Sera. "Did you make all these?" Emily asked, Lucifer smiled from kitchen and there was a hint of sadness in his smile

"It's a way to keep myself occupied, to distract from the pain. And if it brings a smile to someone's face, even just for a moment, then it's worth it."

Emily smiled, holding the Sera duck closer to her chest. "Thank you, Lucifer. For saving me, for bringing me here." She sighed softly, her voice filled with a mixture of gratitude and sadness. "I miss her, you know. Sera was my everything. Without her, it feels like I've lost a part of myself."

Lucifer placed a hand on Emily's shoulder, offering her comfort. "I know," he said softly. "Loss can be unbearable, but we find ways to carry on. Sometimes, it's through the kindness of others, sometimes it's through our own strength. And sometimes, it's through rubber ducks."

Emily couldn't help but chuckle, tears still glistening in her eyes. "You're strange, Lucifer, but in a good way. Thank you for reminding me that even in the darkest moments, there's still hope."

Lucifer nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "You're welcome, Emily. We're all broken in our own ways, but in this palace of rubber ducks, maybe we can find solace, and maybe, just maybe, we can heal together." A timer dings and Lucifer goes into the kitchen then calls Emily into it, "what are we having?" Emily asked, Lucifer handed her a plate of meat. It looked appetizing enough "what is this?" Emily asked "food...I know it's not like what Heaven has, oh boy do I miss the food there...but this is what we have in Hell" Emily looked at what she hoped was not sinner flesh.

She begrudgingly stabbed it with her fork and ate it, "it doesn't actually taste that bad! This is really good" after dinner Emily was given a room to stay in. "This is Charlie's old room but she's off running her 'Hazbin Hotel' anyways sweet dreams kid" Emily looked at Lucifer feeling awkward to ask this question "do you have any spare clothes I can wear? Like pajamas and stuff?" Lucifer gestured for Emily to look in the dresser.

"Charlie kept most of her pajamas here when she moved out months ago" Emily smiled happily and hugged Lucifer "thank you Morning Star" Lucifer blushed it had been eons since someone called him the 'The Morning Star' it felt nice. "Good night Emily, in the morning the two of us will bond or something...I haven't decided yet" Lucifer bounced up and down as he left the room for his own.

This was his second chance and he wouldn't fail.
