Chapter 1: Welcome to H.E.L.L (Highschool Enamored by Lying Lila)
Chapter Text
Felix hadn’t been at school more than a few weeks and he had already learned alot. He knew that Marinette Dupain-Cheng was very cute, he knew his cousin Adrien Agreste was spineless and would do anything to make his dad happy, and he knew the classmate of Lila Rossi was not to be trusted.
She had come up to him on his day of school in Paris and seeked to befriend him. He saw through it immediately. He’d seen her before they’d gone to class. Saw how she had a group of people gathering around her like minions, listening to her tell stories that made no sense.
He’d seen her sneak away when he had gone to place his things into his locker and heard her speak to Marinette, a girl with blue pigtails and a bubbly personality. He heard her threaten and tease her. He’d waited until they both left, leaving with both a book and a lasting impression of Lila in his mind.
So during class when she had greeted him the moment he sat down, offering her hand and companionship, Felix had laughed in her face.
“I’m not stupid.” he said. “I don’t want your two faced self anywhere near me.” and with that he started reading, ignoring the brunette's false cries of offense. The class all gathered around and began comforting her.
“Felix that was uncalled for.” Adrien told his cousin. Felix ignored him and simply flipped a page.
“Adrien your cousin’s a menace!” a girl with glasses said angrily, rubbing Lila’s back in comforting circling moments. “She was just trying to make nice with him!”
“And that's not something I'm going to bother reciprocating.” Felix muttered, not giving Adrien a chance to speak. “Besides, I've heard her insult a girl already. Not interested in that kind of ‘making nice’.”
“Lila would never!” a short girl in pink said.
“Marinette. Were you or were you not insulted by this girl this morning?” Felix looked up, his eyes narrowed in annoyance. His eyes were pointed at Mari who sat in the back all alone. She was glaring at Lila.
“Yes. But it doesn’t matter. They won’t believe me for a second. Right Alya?”
“Should’ve figured you’d get Felix to lie about Lila too!” the glasses wearer, or Alya, snapped.
“I’m not lying and neither is Felix! But you refuse to believe me!” Marinette stated, crossing her arms and looking away. Alya yelled at her again, but this time Marinette didn’t even bother looking over. She looked like she was going to go off on Felix again, but then the teacher, ms bustier, came in to start her lesson.
The next day Felix knew he’d need to pick a new place to sit because he had foolishly sat near the front of the class. Maybe he’d sit with dupain-cheng the next day. Speaking of who he snuck a glance at her only to find her staring at him strangely.
When their eyes met she quickly looked away, her face flushing red. He could feel his own also burn, but no one noticed or cared enough to take notice. Felix didn’t quite understand why his face was reacting but he figured it was an after effect from the morning confrontation.
When the class was dismissed to lunch Felix found himself waiting everyone out until everyone had left the room. He picked up his book and exited only for an arm to yank him aside.
It was Lila.
She was smiling at him, but her smile was much more forced than it had been that morning. Her eyes were narrowed and her hand didn’t unclench from his shoulder.
“Hey felix. I think we got off on the wrong foot this morning.” she said sweetly. Felix thought it was like honey with something more unsettling stirred inside.
“No. I don’t think we did.” Felix said to her glaring. Lila stopped smiling, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. Felix thought she reminded him of a fox of some kind. All calculating and mischievous.
“Ok then. Lemme make this clear.” Lila was no longer playing nice. “You’ve got two choices. You can either be my friend and we can all just get along..”
Lila stepped closer and Felix felt his space get very much so disregarded.
“Or you can stand against me and ruin your own life.”
“Please. You think I'm scared of you ?” Felix asked. He wanted to laugh in her face again but something about her expression made him refrain.
“I have the power to ruin your life.” Lila replied, her smile replastering over her face. “All at my own leisure. Just a few words and everything will crumble.”
“I don't take well to threats.”
“Then I guess you’ve given me your answer.” and with that Lila stalked off, heading to the cafeteria and her army of loyal followers. Felix waited a few moments before also heading to the lunch room. He spotted Marinette sitting down by herself so he headed over to her.
He wanted to ask about sitting next to her for their next class, that's all. He’d just sat down and Marinette had just looked at him in surprise when someone called out angrily.
“Felix!”
Felix looked around and spotted Alya stomping up to him.
“How could you say that to Lila!”
“And what did I say to her?” Felix asked glowering.
“You know what you said! You told her she didn’t deserve your friendship or any of her other friends!”
“No. No, I didn't.”
“Don’t lie! She was right in front of you!” Alya snapped at him. Felix noticed Lila stealthily smirking at him from her table, a group of people surrounding her protectively. Alya stood there and yelled for a long time before she gave a final glare and left.
Marinette sighed and gave Felix a sympathetic look.
“She talked to you. Didn’t she?”
“Yes.”
“Thats what she did to me. Trust me..its gonna get worse.” marinette said sadly.
“Joy.” Felix muttered sarcastically as his gaze wandered to the sky. “What misery i can’t wait to endure.”
Marinette looked at him and offered a small smile.
“Whats that saying? Misery loves company?” she asked. Felix nodded with a small smirk.
“I see your point. Having said that, care to share a desk with me next period?”
“Sure!” Marinette said, smiling genuinely this time.
The shared another look before the bell rang and the two headed off to their next class, where Lila would surely be waiting to make them miserable.

Chapter Text
The next few days were certainly worse, even with the light that was Marinette Dupain-Cheng by his side. Lila showed no remorse in her quest to crush Felix into the dirt, just like she had the blue-nette. After being verbally accosted during lunch, he and Marinette sat together during their science and history, ignoring the dirty looks aimed at them. During P.E they ignored the whispers being directed at their backs when people assumed they couldn’t hear.
To everyone else’s face, Lila pretended to be above it all, weakly pleading for the others like Alya to let it go. Of course, much to Felix’s eye-rolling dismay, they declined, with some like the little blonde (who Felix begrudgingly learned was named Rose) quickly jumping to comfort whilst Alya only grew angrier at him, spouting anger and rage.
In some ways he guessed, maybe because he was new and had no ties to them, they were meaner to him than Mari. That being said, Lila tended to be more likely to ‘accidentally’ harm Marinette in some way, like tripping her or shoving her to the side. And of course, any point that it was pointed out, mostly by Felix cause Mari was sadly quite used to it, it was quickly swept under the rug because
“Lila didn’t mean to!”
It made Felix nauseous to even think about.
But besides school being a VERY toxic place to be, Felix found comfort in hanging out with Marinette outside of it. She’d taken the role of tour guide and shown him all the places in paris there were to see. The eiffel tower, the Louvre, even some lesser visited places that were a favorite to Marinette specifically. One of those places was a strange ice cream cart, resting along the bridge over one of the canals.
And it was there for the first time since he arrived that Felix finally relaxed. That was, after the awkwardness of the ice cream man eyeing them both with interested pride, hinting at something to Marinette while she collected their cup while felix watched from the edge of the canal.
Maybe it had to do with his ice cream combination for the two of them to share (which they didnt ask for by the way!) being blackberry and matcha. Felix figured he was using them as test dummies for new flavor combinations, but Marinette’s face was quite red when she sat down after their little ‘chat’ so he was beginning to wonder if there was an outside joke he just wasnt getting.
“I-its nothing!” Marinette said to his prompting. Her face got redder and she quickly distracted herself by fiddling with her spoon.
Still, icecream, no matter how strange or oddly specific, was icecream. Felix would never admit it, but he had a VERY big sweet tooth, so ignoring the strange feeling of sharing an icecream with a girl he knew for at best a week, he took his spoon and quick took a bite. The combo was unexpected, but quite delightful.
“Marinette…you have to try this.” he muttered, already scooping up a second bite. Curious, the bluenette did as well, and they both placed the spoons in their mouths at the exact same time.
“This is amazing!” Marinette cheered, taking a second scoop while Felix took his third.
“Agreed. I didn’t realize such flavors could do so well with one another.”
Marinette got that look on her face again. The really red one.
“R-right.”
Another bite of ice cream from them both. Then another, and another. Soon there was nothing but an empty cup. The sun above them shone brightly, and Felix felt the urge to lean back and lie down. To his surprise Marinette beat him to it. She pushed herself up and stretched out so that her whole body was resting in view of the sun.
“It feels so good out here.” She said smiling. Felix decided he liked her smile. Not the smirk she had when slighting Lila ever so quietly, or the misery toned one she wore at school when faced with her classmates. But this smile, this one was just for him now.
“Indeed it does.”
Felix laid down beside her and the pair watched the few clouds in the sky drift on by them. It was peaceful in a way that school just wasnt. Silently he wondered if the class had always been this hateful, always ruining such a nice girl’s life.
“Hey…Felix?”
“Yes?”
“Can…Can i ask you something?”
“Sure.” Felix turned his head to look at her. Mari stared into the sky with a sad look in her eyes.
“How come….how come you didn’t befriend Lila?”
Felix silently gagged at the idea.
“Besides the fact she’s a revolting pig who’s stink clings to her outside her pen?”
Marinette laughed softly before shaking her head.
“Before she introduced herself to you. Before she started lying…How come you didn’t wanna be her friend like everyone else?”
Felix sat up and stared at the water.
“There are many reasons I suppose…One being that if my cousin Adrien is tolerant of her…well simply, i don’t trust his judgement.”
Marinette softly nodded to let him know she was still listening as she closed her eyes.
“Then there is the fact people…are rather naturally opposed to my company. I’ve learned to keep my distance as most…grate on my nerves. And I grate on theirs.”
Marinette smiled at him.
“You don’t grate on mine at all…Do i make you annoyed?”
Felix shook his head and shifted uncomfortable.
“No..you seem to be the only sane person at our school however, so perhaps-”
“-The bar is low?” she giggled.
Felix smirked and nodded. The smile faded as he explained his final reason however.
“And…there is the matter of..I’ve heard what she’s said to you during one occasion before i started class. Within the locker room.”
Marinette’s eyes went wide.
“You heard that?”
“Yes. And I couldn't ever allow myself to sink so low as to befriend someone so clearly undeserving of support.”
Marinette looked away. Felix felt like he’d said something wrong, but he couldn’t understand what. The two were suffocated by silence for a very long time, with the sun getting closer to setting. Had he justed ruined his relationship with the only decent person at their place of learning?
“....Aren’t I undeserving?”
The question was quiet and Felix could barely hear it. He sat up and stared Marinette down, only to find with surprise she had tears in he eyes.
“What makes you think that?”
“Because!” she exploded. “Everyone, all my friends…they all abandoned me! They took Lila’s side over mine even after everything we went through. They won’t even look at me unless they want something…If no one i’ve known for years will stay…Nino…Rose..Mylene…or people I thought i’d become so close to…Alya… Adrien ...”
She paused, sniffling as she wiped at her face.
“If they all left me…why would you stick with me?” she hiccuped. “Aren’t i undeserving of company?...of friends?”
Felix, even though he wasn’t one for human contact, quickly but gently pulled her into a sitting position, giving her a hug she could easily escape if she wanted. Instead she buried her face in the crook of his neck and sobbed.
“You are deserving. Don’t let them trick you into believing your not. They’re all stupid. People listening to HER can’t have been that bright to begin with anyways.”
“You think s-so?”
“I do. And…” Felix took a deep breath. “..I’ll do whatever i can to protect you from those who make you think this way.”
Marinette squeezed him tight and pulled back, a big wet smile on her face.
“And i’ll try and protect you to!”
Felix smirked.
“Lets not get ahead of ourselves now.”
Marinette stuck her tongue out and stood up, Felix following her lead.
The two walked off as the sun began to set, side by side until they reached a street that would split off into two. Marinette went one way while felix began walking the other.
“Hey felix?”
He stopped.
“Yes?”
“...You know, you deserve company too, right?”
“...Sure.”
Marinette smiled at him.
“You do! If i’m not as bad as they think…then your not as bad as you think.”
“Whatever you say Marinette.”
“Your not…at least not to me.”
With that they headed home, unaware of the storm that would brew in the coming weeks, a storm that would change everything.
Notes:
My fricking laptop stopped charging cause my brother decided to put the pretzel salt from his damn pretzels in my charging port and instead of being a good effing sister Riley wouldn't let me use hers. Also i'm still not putting stuff for season 4 or anything past unless i feel like it, cause this is me fixing my old story and i dont want to have to rewrite my plot since nothing was wrong with it. But dont worry, i should be able to start posting once a week now, unless that dickhead ruins this computer too. I'm have to use my school chromebook then, so hopefully he leaves my shit alone. But on the bright side, i might start posting my rewrites of my other stories too, so people who like Felix, be prepared!!! <3 <3
Chapter 3: Why Ruin the Vibe
Notes:
Mhm Me again with another chapter! Lila sucks so much its not even funny. I heard later seasons she's like the main villain now? Makes sense. Cause she's a BITCH. and yeah, anon person pretending to be Lila? Guess what, that means YOU. Hah.
But yeah Lila sucks. Marinette and Felix are in for a lot more! I tagged that stuff for a reason. So like future triggering warnings in the next chapter!
More stuff about my life AND my other stories at the end <3
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The next few days at school wre the same. Lila would say a white lie and the class would follow her example. Felix tried to stick to his promise to protect Marinette, but there was only so much he could do. Especially with his constant intervening getting Lila all upset. It quickly started to get bigger than the mutters that came before that. It was bad all around. One day however, a supposedly regular Tuesday, marked the beginning of the worse.
It was during their lunch period. Marinette and Felix had decided it wasn’t worth the effort heading to the courtyard for lunch, and instead hung out in the empty classroom. Mari would bring sweets from her family bakery and Felix would supply drinks, normally something fancy he’d swiped from his cousin’s house where he’d been staying.
Maybe he would’ve told Adrien about it, if only so he’d not be caught off guard if Natalie or someone else noticed the stock being lower, but honestly, he was still pissed off at Adrien for letting Lila do what she wanted to marinette, so he wasn’t speaking to him. So it was just him and Mari, and that was fine with him. He got to see her laugh and smile and considering they were at school that was good enough for him.
That day they were having perfectly baked baguette’s with small sides of crisp fruit and savory cheese. Marinette had also brought a large package of fresh strawberry macarons for them to share, and to Felix’s delight, they were even better than the ice cream they’d shared a few days ago. It was quite peaceful, with Marinette telling Felix about some of the activities that have happened around Paris, such as akuma attacks. Felix was very intrigued to learn more about the darkness that plagued the city, and about the heroes would tried to keep it at bay.
Considering what happened last time he was here, he didn’t have the highest opinion of ‘Ladybug’ and ‘Chat Noir’ as there were, considering they’d been rude to him. But Marinette seemed to think highly enough, even if she grumbled about how everyone seemed to think they were a couple instead of friends, but Felix decided that if he ever met them again he could give them a slight benefit of the doubt.
Anyways, Marinette and him were talking about heroes.
“...Yeah, but you’ve only met the main ones.”
“There are more?” Felix questioned, taking a bite of bread. It was perfectly crafted adn Felix idly wondered if marinette was responsible for its creation. It was quite perfect. Then again, her family ran a very succuccful bakery so it made sense for her talent to have come from somewhere.
“Mhm! Sometimes the akumas are really tough so they have to get others to help.”
“How many others?”
“There’s been….Rena Rouge…Carapace…Queen..Bee…Pegaesus...”
Marinette frowned for a second, and that real sad look she got all the time shown up for a second. Then she went back to smiling. It made Felix think she knew yet another thing that he didn't.
“There was also Ryuko and Viperion.”
“So..a Ladybug, a cat, a bee…a turtle..a horse..a fox?” Felix paused as Marinette nodded at every correct answer. “A snake and..?”
“A dragon. She was really cool.”
“...Why a dragon?”
“Cause dragons are awesome!”
“But they’re not real.”
“Mayhe they are!” Marinette said, giggling as she wiggled her fingers in a ‘dazzling’ motion. Felix rolled his eyes but smiled at her antics none the less. The smiles fell as footsteps echoed from the hall. Heads turned to see Lila, smiling her fake cheerful smile in the doorway. She took a couple steps in the room and then shut the door, causing Felix and Marinette to get up and share a suspicious look.
“What do you want.” Felix muttered, already annoyed that she ruined their lunch.
“Awww Felix…I just wanted to talk to you two..” Lila sweetly said. Marinette raised an eyebrow.
“...About what?”
Lila looked to her and smiled again.
“About how this..tension between us is just a huge misunderstanding of course!” she took a step closer. “I know you miss your friends Marinette..They miss you too. And i’m sure they’d love to get to see the ‘nice’ felix that you see as well.”
“What. Do. You. Want.” Felix said again, glowering at Lila while Marinette ducked her head. Lila turned to him again and inched closer.
“I wanna offer you two a second chance! You guys apologize for being so ‘mean’ to me..and i’ll let you back into the class.”
“Why offer this now?” Marinette asked, back in her correct headspace. She wasn’t buying it. Lila pouted.
“Because Marinette..I think you’ve been punished enough..dont you?”
Felix rolled his eyes as Marinette narrowed her gaze.
“If you want me to take your deal, you could at least tell me the truth just this once.”
Lila’s smile dropped.
“Don’t get bitchy with me.” she snapped. “I’m giving you an out. A chance to get back your actual friends instead of hanging out with him.:
Felix raised his eyebrows. So that's what this was. A cheap attempt to somehow get Felix alone while also getting Marinette to ‘behave’?
Marinette seemed to have come to the same conclusion because she’d turned her back to Lila entirely now.
“I’m good.” She said coldly. “I’m not interested in people who defend jealous possessive liars.”
Lila scowled and her gaze turned to Felix. Felix scoffed.
“Thats a no from me as well.”
Lila sucked in a breath and suddenly smiled. The two frowned at the sudden shift in demeanor.
“Oh. Ok. Thats alright then.”
Then Lila slowly sat down on the floor. She looked up at them. Batted her eyelashes. Send them one last smile. Then she hollered at the top of her lungs.
“MARINETTE PLEASE STOP!!”
To her undeserved credit, the scream sounded as real as it could get. She sounded like she was being beaten within an inch of her life. False tears fell from her eyes and Lila cowered before them.
Marinette and Felix were frozen in shock, surprised that she would do something like this.
“GET AWAY FROM ME! SOMEONE HELP ME!”
Dozens of footsteps echoed from downstairs in the cafeteria, followed by voices echoing up the stairs. The door slammed open and in spilled their classmates, eyes wide.
“Get away from her!” Alya yelled. Marinette took a few steps back in alarm. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
“I didn’t-”
“Back up.” Kim demanded, taking a intimidating step in Marinette’s direction. Felix glowered and stepped in front of her.
“I-I-I just wanted to i-invite them to our p-picnic this a-a-afternoon.” Lila wailed while rose squatted down and comforted her.
Alya snarled.
“I knew you hated her. Always calling her a liar and shit just because you were jealous. But this? Attacking her? What is wrong with you!” she snapped. Marinette shook her head, eyes wide.
“I didn’t attack her! I never even touched her! Look at her! She doesnt even have any bruises.”
“Everyone knows Lila has a medical condition that prevents her from being able to bruise!”
“Thats not even a real medical condition!” Marinette argued back. The class seemed to be in unison at glaring at her until she shut up. Adrien took a few steps forward and raised his hands as if to calm the chaos.
“Marinette calm down.”
“But she’s lying about me again!”
“Don’t escalate things.”
Felix glared at his cousin.
“How about you tell that ‘she-devil’ to calm down then”
Adrien wilted and suddenly Nino was stepping up, determined to defend his best friend against the slight.
“Don’t be an asshole dude!”
“He already is one.” Alya hissed. “Doesn’t take a genius to know he was helping Marinette out.”
Adrien winced.
“Guys-”
Lila let out a loud false sob and the yelling only increased. Kim took another step and Felix growled.
“Back the fuck up.”
Kim clearly didn’t like being talked to like that and he shoved at Felix, who due to being smaller, slammed into the ground. Marinette glanced up at Kim in shock and anger.
“What is wrong with you!”
“Hypocrite!” Alya called.
“I haven’t done anything!”
“Liar.” hissed Alix, stepping up as well.
Felix got to his feet and slammed his foot down on Kim’s as hard as he could. Kim yelped and Felix used the opportunity to slam into the mans side, clearing a way for him and Marinette to get to the door.
“Pyschopath!” Alya yelled as Felix slid through the door. Lila’s crying only got louder. It was starting to grate on him. Marinette ran out a second later, heavy breathing escaping through her lips. Footsteps indicated they were being followed and the two rushed for the stairs. Lila had gone past no return. Now that she had been ‘attacked’ violence was clearly now on the table.
As if hearing those thoughts Alix came skating after them, stopping at the stairs just as they’d both started their descent.
“Marinette!” She snarled. Mari glanced at her, as if hoping against all odds she’d realize this was all a rouse. Instead Alix kicked down, and Marinette was suddenly slammed into Felix’s back, sending them both crashing down the stairs. Felix groaned as he felt a pain in his leg while Marinette clutched her left arm to her chest. They both looked up again.
“That was for Lila. Don’t bother coming back.”
Marinette and Felix didn’t know what that meant, until one of the doors upstairs slammed open, clearly alarmed by the commotion. The teacher, ms bustier came rushing out, the principal right behind her.
Alix claimed their attention before they could even notice the two at the bottom of the stairs.
“Ms Bustier! Mr Damocles! Lila was assaulted!"
The two rushed into the classroom as Felix gently pushed Marinette off of his injured leg.
“Oh god..” Marinette whispered, eyes wide. “Felix..She’s..”
“Gone too far? Absolutely..” he agreed, checking his leg over. The two stood up, and Felix winced as he put pressure on his injury.
“The whole class thinks I hurt her.”
“Surely there are cameras or something to disprove her lies?”
Marinette shook her head, holding her arm tighter.
“I’m going to be suspended again..”
“Again?”
Marinette nodded just as Mr Damocles's outraged voice echoed into the courtyard.
“MS. DUPAIN-CHENG AND MR FATHOM TO MY OFFICE AT ONCE!”
“..Shit.” Felix muttered.
“A-at least we’re together…right?” Marinette sniffled. Felix nodded gravely. At least there was that…
