Chapter 1: The start

Chapter Text

Shinazugawa Sanemi and Giyuu Tomioka was sent on a duo mission together. Lets just say for the simple part, none of them were happy about it. They both seemed to dislike each other so much. But they were still sent on a mission together.

(A/N)... I suck at writing their names so when i describe them and stuff i will call them “Sanemi” and “Giyuu” bc it's easier but when they talk i will try to use “Shinazugawa” and “Tomioka” hope that won't bother you, good read!

Sanemi was waiting at the start of the forest. He had been standing there for a good 20 minutes.
“Where the hell is he?!” Sanemi was quite known for his short temper, he did not like to wait for others. He looked around expecting to see the half red and half green patterned haori walking towards him. but he never saw it. Until he heard a voice behind him.
“Where were we supposed to go again? My crow seems to have forgotten the name of the village.” Giyuu’s voice was behind him. Sanemi quickly turned around grabbing his blade, he was going to strike until he recognised Giyuu’s voice. Sanemi got even angrier when he saw Giyuu, his unemotional gaze. It looked like he wouldn't care even if he came 1 hour late. That just made Sanemi even more angry. but he tried with all his might not to lash out at Giyuu. He tried to control his anger.
“Just follow me. I know the way.” he said coldly. “And you should ask Master for a new crow… Yours is way to old.” Sanemi knew that Giyuu was quite fond of his crow to insulting his crow would be a way to let out a small amount of anger. Giyuu just ignored sanemis remark and started following him into the woods.

Giyuu Tomioka was never the person to start a conversation. He liked the quiet better, not like he deserved to speak with the other hashira anyway. He wasn't worthy of talking with them when they had fought so hard for their position, and he didn't. Sabito was more worthy of becoming a hashira.

“Tomioka! TOMIOKA!! Are you stupid or something?!” Sanemi was standing in front of Giyuu. They were in the village. Giyuu had been zoned out on the way to the village, an he had apparently been zoned out when they got to the village as well because Sanemi was shouting at him.

Giyuu blinked a little. He was confused. When did they get to the village. Didn’t they just enter the forest? Sanemi then looked at him as he raised his hand. he was about to slap Giyuu to make him snap out of it.
“What is it Shinazugawa?” Giyuu asked looking at Sanemi. Sanemi felt his blood boil.
“What is it? WHAT IS IT?! YOU WERE JUST STANDING HERE STARING INTO NOTHING AND NOT ANSWERING ME!!!” Sanemi shouted at giyuu for not being more aware of his surroundings.
“Oh…Sorry” Giyuu said in a low voice. He weekly walked past Sanemi into the house where they were supposed to be sleeping. If Sanemi didn’t know Giyuu he would have thought that he ran off to cry like many people did when he shouted at him but he knew that Giyuu was not the person to cry easily. He sighed as he walked into the house as well.

As he walked in he saw an old lady looking a little apologetic and Giyuu who had the same unemotional face but he had a small hint of anger and awkwardness about him in a small moment until it all disappeared when he saw that Sanemi had walked in looking a little curious.
“What? What is it?” Sanemi asked as he walked ut to the two others.
“I know that you were supposed to share a room with two beds but when we had other visitors in that room one of the bed broke. We are working on fixing them but meanwhile I am very sorry to say that you two have to share one bed.” The old lady looked a little sad as she continued.
“But I really have to go help the others so…” The old lady grabbed some keys from her drawer and handed them to Sanemi.
“Here are the keys. Your room is up the stairs and to the left.” The old lady scurried out the room to help someone in another room.

Now there was only Giyuu and Sanemi left in the room. The tension in the room was very high now. Giyuu’s face was almost unreadable. But Sanemi could notice that he seemed a little embarrassed. Of course Sanemi was also embarrassed.

Sanemi and Giyuu walked into their room and quickly taken their surroundings. There was a window with its blinds covered and a bed next to the window. The bed had two bedside tables on each side and there was a door to what both Sanemi and Giyuu thought was the bathroom.

“Well it is just to get comfy… we are going to be here for the next week.” Sanemi walked over and put his bag down next to one of the bedside tables. He sighed again.
“if you want to I can sleep on the floor” He was feeling extra nice today but Giyuu should definitely not get used to this nice Sanemi. It was just because he was tired. But Giyuu seemed to have other thoughts.
“Can't we just share the one bed?” Giyuu asked timidly. He didn’t want to sound weird or anything but it just felt wrong forcing Sanemi to sleep on the floor when Giyuu got to sleep on the bed.
“W-What?” Sanemi was shocked at Giyuu’s question. Why didn't he think of that? I’ll tell you the reason. He didn’t want to sound like a total weirdo but maybe Giyuu didn’t care about how he sounded like? Anyway Sanemi had to play it off cool to make sure that he didn't seem to happy about it.
“Uh…Sure? If you insist.”
