Mango hummed cleaning a glass at the bar occasionally making small-talk with the patrons while mixing together drinks. He was a bartender, quite a good one in fact. He glanced over at the newly installed karaoke section, the person running it, Seafoam if he recalled correctly, had just finished setting up and was asking for a volunteer to come up and sing. A red hand shot up immediately and they all but skittered onto the stage when Seafoam called them up, almost like a spider. They had long red hair that looked quite messy, they laughed shaking their head once they climbed up the stage. Mango raised an eyebrow but otherwise continued what he was doing as a regular of the bar sat down.
“Same as usual Vir?” Mango asked Viridian. “Mhmm..?” Viridian confirmed trailing off at the end glancing over to the karaoke section “Huh karaoke, forgot they were adding that.” Viridian mused. Mango slid Virdian’s drink over to them at the same time the person on stage had chosen a song. They cackled grabbing the mic and flipping down their flame sunglasses that were on their head previously. The music started up and the red stickfigure started to sing. Mango absentmindedly cleaned a few glasses watching the stickfigure on stage dance and sing. They were quite animated making exaggerated motions to match the song, possibly just from the alcohol though. They threw their hands up the crowd watching them sing throwing theirs up too and they crouched down at the edge of the stage before jumping backward a lively energy unlike almost anything Mango had seen.
Mango forced himself to look away turning his attention back to the bar realising Viridian had moved spots talking with a different stick now. Mango hummed listening to the red stick figure sing as he made a drink for another stick that’d just walked in. The music was a nice background noise as he worked and made small talk with a few sticks ordering drinks. After a little while the music changed and a new singer was on stage, Mango was puzzled where did the other singer go? They were just h- “Heya!” Mango jumped looking in front of him to see the red stick figure sitting down positioned so that they were viewing him upside-down.
“Ah, hello.” Somehow Mango had just noticed the stickfigure in front of him was a hollowhead, huh not every day you see that. “You were the stickfigure on stage just now correct?” “Yep!” The red hollowhead popped the p at the end, shifting to face him normally. “The name’s Dark, what about you?” Dark rested their head in their claw-like hands with a smile across their face. The slight movement they had suggested they were kicking their legs underneath the table. “Mango, would you like something to drink?” He asked pulling out a glass.
Dark hummed for a few seconds “What about the Mango Passion Cocktail, that one seems nice~” Dark tilted their head their smile showing off dangerously sharp teeth. Mango raised an eyebrow at the slight change in their tone, but thought nothing of it starting to prepare their drink. Dark hummed idly kicking their feet and watching Mango prepare their drink. Mango slid the drink across the table to Dark who gratefully took the glass taking a sip. “Ooh! This is really good, how long you been working here Mango?” Dark asked. “Couple of months.” and only a couple of months ago since he tried to destroy Minecraft, but he really shouldn’t mention that. “Really? Well, you’re really good at this!” Dark chuckled taking another sip of their drink. Mango hummed “Well, thank you.” “Do ya have a favorite fruit?” Dark asked and Mango raised an eyebrow. “Right- mine is raspberry,”
Dark said. “Sooo…is there anything you like to do in your free time?” Dark asked. “Ah well I used to like engineering, but I’ve been taking a break from that…” His voice was a bit strained, but Dark didn’t pry farther which Mango appreciated. “I’ve been learning to bake I can make bread, but I haven’t really made anything else.” Dark hummed “Personally I like coding a lot, I’ve made a few little games before.” Mango nodded with a smile tugging at his lips. Dark finished the last of their drink as their phone buzzed. Dark pulled out their phone checking their notifications. “Ah, I gotta get home.” Dark put the payment for the drink on the table leaving a note on top of the money. Mango raised an eyebrow as Dark winked playfully at him and left. Mango put the money away and opened the note. Inside the note was a string of numbers and a doodle presumably of Dark in the corner going ‘:3c’. Mango pieced together that the string of numbers was Dark’s number. Mango put the note away in his suit pocket as he picked up Dark’s discarded glass of Mango Passion-
Oh, oh. He felt his face warm up as he muttered under his breath “ Well, shit... ”
