After you stumbled and almost fell you held Ominis sleave at the last second "My love, I know you are used to this but you have to warn me for steps" You tried to take off the blindfold he had put on you when the two of you arrived to the castle.
Ominis guided you around the castle for an eternity, but mostly because you had been taking small steps and crashing with some walls and armor. You didn't know where he was taking you, maybe the Astronomy tower? He took you up a long flight of stairs.
"I'm so sorry darling, but please don't take it off. We are almost there" he grabbed your hand to stop you.
"All right. Just don't let go of me, please" he laughed.
"I promise" he gave you a quick kiss that caught you off guard. It made you wonder if he felt that way each time you kissed him.
You walked the last stretch for a few minutes and heard the Undercroft clock.
"Oh I was so wrong" you mumbled.
"Did you say something, darling?"
"Can I take this off now?" you didn't wanna talk about your awful sense of orientation.
"Not yet. Come inside" he pulled your hand to guide you inside, and after some steps, he stopped without warning you, so you collided with his back and laughed "Sorry darling. You can take the blindfold now"
You obeyed and stood there in shock for what you saw. The Undercroft was unrecognizable decorated with candles, tapestries, blankets, and cushions on the floor. Ominis had set up a small indoor picnic just for you, with your favorite food and a couple of wine bottles.
"Ominis, this is beautiful" You looked at him and he offered you a glass of champagne.
"Happy first anniversary my nightingale" he got closer to you and kissed "For the best year of my life" You blushed.
"And for many to come, cheers" You clinked your glass with his and drank.
You sat and noticed your glasses refilled themselves, so you made a mental note not to drink too much champagne.
"How did you prepare all this on time?" while he answered you took out two dishes and served the food.
"Well, since the love of my life planned such a lovely evening at Hogsmades, Sebastian and Anne helped me"
"No way. They helped me plan my surprise too" You both laughed "Reminded me to buy them something pretty as a thank you"
"Technically you already did" he grabbed a wine bottle and poured it into two glasses. "I bought them a huge supply of chocolate frogs earlier and sent them by owl on our behalf. They are probably devouring it right now." you both laughed imagining the scene.
"This deserves a toast" you raise your glass "To our lovely friends, and to my thoughtful and gorgeous boyfriend"
"And a special toast for you, my love." He approached you and kissed you on the lips. "Thank you for giving me the love I always crave, I love you so much" You clinked your glasses and drank
"Ominis you are making me blush" You put down your glass and coddle him " You have always deserved love, my dear. But I'm so happy that I'm the one giving it to you" You kissed him again, more passionate this time.
"You give me so much more, my dear" he said in the middle of a moan and kissed your neck, making you tickled.
"Ominis please stop" You tried to push him away playfully but he was persistent and made you laugh "I love you, but I'm really hungry. Can we eat first?"
He laughed as well and stopped kissing you.
"All right darling. I hope you like it" You tried the food, and the first bite made you moan at its deliciousness. "I'll take that as yes"
After a few bites you decided to start a conversation, you liked to listen to Ominis talking while you ate.
"My love, can I ask you something?" there was something you had been wondering for some time, and especially that day you couldn't shake it out of your mind.
He wiped his mouth delicately before answering "Anything darling"
"Since it is our anniversary, I was just wondering if you know when exactly you started to have feelings for me?" you expected him to take a few moments to think of an answer, but Ominis already knew.
"It... it is not as happy as I wish it was" he confessed.
"When was it?" you were intrigued, so you listened and had another bit of your meal.
He sounded melancholic, probably reliving the moment in his head "It was the day of Solomon's death. When I found out what Sebastian did I felt like I had lost him, I was mad and needed to blame someone for what happened, and the first person that crossed my mind as the causer was you. "He paused and took your hand gently, letting you know he didn't feel that way now
"I believed that if you hadn't encouraged Sebastian things would have turned out differently, so I looked everywhere for you until I found you in here and... "
He couldn't bring himself to finish, so you helped "And I was crying myself out"
"Yes. Do you want me to keep going?" you knew it wasn't the prettiest moment you had, but something good came out of it and you wanted to hear his side of the story.
"Yes, please." you moved closer to him and cuddled.
"I didn't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. Hearing you weep made all my anger go away, and it was replaced with concern. I remember I came closer and when you noticed my presence you moved away from me and tried to talk but the only thing I could understand was I'm sorry over and over." He tightened his grip on you "It broke my heart. It still does when I remember it. Hearing you mourn made me feel like... I would have given anything to take that pain away from you." Your eyes got watery, you didn't like remembering that pain either, especially since a part of you still felt it was your fault. "After you calmed down a little bit and we could talk I felt embarrassed for trying to blame you for what had happened. Then I hugged you, and you hugged me back and I felt like I never wanted to let go. Darling are you all right?"
Some tears ran down your cheeks and Ominis cleaned them with his thumb.
"Yes, I'm sorry" you took his hand and kissed it "It's just... that is the same day I thought I loved you for the first time."
Ominis looked confused.
"Loved me? So when did you know you liked me?" he stretched a little bit to grab his glass and sipped wine.
"Does the phrase Did you just come from the Undercroft? rings any bells?" Ominis almost spit out his wine and you laughed.
"You are joking, right? Please tell me you are joking". You laughed harder, he was turning red.
"I wish I was, truly" he covered his face with his hands, embarrassed. "I mean, I thought you were rude and a brat, but you weren't intimidating at all, you were adorable. My only thought was Please don't hate me. So yes, I have liked you ever since." you uncovered his face and gave him a little kiss on the nose.
"Merlin, I can't believe you." he laughed and you kept talking.
"When I thought I loved you for the first time was that day." you took his hand and rubbed it with your thumb "I felt like I was the worst person alive... Sometimes, I still think that all of you would have been better off if I never came to Hogwarts. But you came in and took me out of that spiral. I don't know how but for a moment you took the guilt out of me and made me feel so safe when I thought you hated me. Then you hugged me and in all that darkness I felt happy for the first time in I don't know how long. Then you said It's all right, I'm here now and I thought I love you so much Ominis, but wasn't brave enough to admit it, but I knew it was love."
Ominis hugged you tighter.
"I've told you before, I'm glad you came to Hogwarts, and I meant it. You coming here was the best thing that ever happened to me. So please do not ever regret that.
"It's just an intrusive thought" You put your hand on his cheek and he leaned to it "Coming here was a dream come true. Well... with a bit of a nightmare in the middle but I can joke about it now." you laughed and Ominis quieted you with a kiss.
"So this means you fell first and I fell harder" he said after breaking apart.
"How on Merlins' name did you fall harder?" you said faking indignation.
"Because I'm still falling, every moment I spend with you, I keep falling deeper for you.
You ran your hand through his hair and caressed his ear.
"All right, I will let you win this time." he laughed. You took his hand and placed it on your chest. "How about we continue where we left off before dinner?" he kissed you, slow at first and then passionately.
"Gladly my love." his fingers unbuttoned your shirt, and you wished to stay there with him forever.
