Chloe and Laela Go Into Business Together

Summary:

A couple of drawings standing in for the fanfic that I've never written (and likely never will), about the titular concept (no doubt utterly amazing fic, uh-huh, truly). Takes place some 20 years after the events of the finale. Chloe and Laela are prospering and living their best lives.

Notes:

The Concept: Chloe finishes her time as one of Attolia's attendants, but doesn't fancy a life of churning out heirs to secure her family's position. She takes her money and makes her way to the exotic Mede Empire, teaming up with former slave Laela to cater for the terribly underserved feminine population of the Mede capital. It's very successful.

Chapter 1: Chloe's Shop

Chapter Text

In the front, there is a shop. Chloe runs this shop, which features cosmetics, incense, jewellry, perfumes, some lovely stones, the usual sort of merchandise.
In the world of the Mede Empire some 20 years in the future, though, Eddis is hot stuff. Anything Eddis is in fashion, overlaid with the mystique of a lost country tragically buried under the lava of its Sacred Mountain's eruption. Chloe does a very good line in lumps of Genuine Lava Rock from the Slopes of the Sacred Mountain Itself, and emollients mixed from Real Eddisian Goat's Foot Oil (TM)

Chloe has prospered over the years, and she is always ready to spin (more-or-less true) stories to the rich and impressionable about her own past in Attolia and serving Attolia herself. She dodges making the obvious connection with Attolis, though.

Chloe's shop gets the good stuff from her favourite unassuming travelling merchant. As well as exchanging all the good gossip, Chloe and Laela's shop becomes a safe haven when Eugenia needs to lay low for a while. It's a very satisfactory relationship.
