Chapter Text
In Tokyo exists the famous Ikebukuro division, known to be the paradise of the otaku culture and a really populated commercial district.
In one of the hidden alleyways there rests a shrine with the statues of three owls. Legend says, they were brothers that loved music and helping people. In exchange of their good deeds, the people built the shrine to thank them. Sadly, with time passing by, everyone started to forget about them, just remembering their story as a child's fairy tale, but they remain in the spirit world waiting patiently until they are called again.
Although, the story does not end that way. Rumors even say that the three brothers had angelical voices and could grant certain power if you were on their good side.
But now in a modern era, were the Party of Words banned the use of guns and now the microphones are the way to handle disputes and fights, these tales started circulating in the underworld and dark web, assuring that whoever gets the power of the owls will become the strongest rapper.
Nobody believes that nonsense right? Those are just rumors people spray just to make fun of others when they seem to believe every single word.
Nevertheless, that's not what Miyazawa Akihiko believed. He was a young blond boy in his thirties, black eyes and wearing black clothes with red combat boots. He walked among the dark alleyways following the directions on the map that was displayed on his phone.
One turn to the left, straight, another turn to the right, keep going straight... Bingo!
After thirty minutes of what seemed like nonsense walking he finally found what he was looking for. There in the wall of the ancient buildings was the famous shrine with the statue of the famous three owls. They were all different from each other, although they were a little deteriorated with the time, the one in the center was a little bigger and the one on the right was the smallest. But what really stood out was the eyes.
The three of them had one green eye, with the big one having a red one, the owl on the left had a yellow color while the last one had blue. So there was no mistake that the statues where the ones from the rumors.
What's left now is summon them. But how?
He examined the statues one by one, trying to see if there was some kind of inscription or anything that screamed out "Say my name, and I'll come right away!"
-There has to be something...- he murmured.
Growing impatient, and refusing to believe he was deceived, Akihiko grabbed one of the stones that decorated the shrine and checked his surroundings one last time before grabbing the smallest statue with one hand and smashing it with all his strength.
Just as he expected, the statue shattered in million pieces.
The blond guy waited for a few seconds expecting something to happen, kind of like the genie in the bottle... Now that he thought about it he should have tried to rub it before smashing it. Oops.
Well, he had other two chances to try.
Just when he was about to pick up the statue on the left he was surprised when an unknown voice was heard just behind him.
-Just what do you think you are doing?! Huh?!
Akihiko turned around and was surprised to find three boys that apparently materialized out of thin air. But he found it interesting how all them looked similar with their black hair, and each of them wearing ancient traditional Japanese robes, with the tallest using a red one, the one on his left with a blue one and the smallest with a yellow robe. What really stood out were the particular moles that each one had that seemed to increase its quantity depending on the order, but the eyes were the same colors the statues had.
He glanced at the statue that was shattered just a few inches of his feet and back at them. And boy, they did not look happy.
-I asked you a damn question!- barked the one in blue.- You have any business with us?!
-Calm down.- spoke the big guy to the younger before addressing to him.- I don't know who you are, but I believe that is not polite to destroy someone else's property.- the tone really matched his angry gaze.
-This yours?- asked Akihiko while pointing to the shrine.- Ha, no wonder.
-Wanna say that again, fuck face?!- that boy was about to land a punch any moment now.- Just who do you think you are to just come 'ere and destroy my lil bro's statue?! HUH?!
-Your lil bro's statue, huh? Who are you?
-You should answer us first.- the younger one spoke for the first time.- You can't just come here and break things like a brainless monkey.
-Just to be clear, this shrine is yours, correct? So can I assume that you are the so "famous" owls?
-We don't have any idea what you are talking about.- spoke the oldest one again changing into a defensive stance.- Whatever you are trying to do, I will recommend you to just leave.
-Oh, but he said that I destroyed his "lil bro's statue".- mocked the man. He even chuckled when he saw them flinch and the youngest glared at the culprit.
-... What do you want?- asked the oldest.
-Nothing complicated at all. You see, are you familiar with the hypnosis microphones?- the three of them exchanged confused glances.- I see that you are not.- he revealed said object that was kept on his coat's pocket.- Legend has it that you guys have some... Powerful voices. What I want is you to lend me your power.
-Huh?! What kind bullshit is that?!- yelled the second one again. Man, he was really loud.- The heck do you think you are to ask us such nonsense?
-Didn't you guys used to help people.
-Kind people.- intersected the oldest one.- And we can tell that whatever your goal is, it doesn't involve something good.
-Mhm, I see. Well, since you guys seem that you have no idea what a hypnosis microphone is, might as well show you in person what these can do.- Akihiko activated the microphone and the three brothers witnessed how it shaped it's form into a type of gun as well as a huge speaker with the shape of a black snake with red eyes appeared behind him.
The boys all took defensive stands.
-What the-?
-Pretty amazing, right? Now, if you accept my deal, then-
-Like hell we'll accept! That's a big no for us!
-I don't know what kind of technology you are using, but if you think you are going to use us, then you really are a brainless moron that has nothing better to do and decided to come catch fantasies.- spoke the youngest. And appearances really deceived, because he looked really young compared to the other two, but his tone was charged with full irony and venom.
-Wow, you really are a little shit, aren't cha?
-Do not insult my brother, you dick head!
-Well, if we are not going to do this the good way, then let's do it the bad way.- an awful sound came out from the speaker before the guy started rapping.
The three brothers were completely clueless of how a hypnosis microphone worked since it was the first time they ever heard of it or seen it, so their only reflex were to cover their ears while those awful lyrics pierced through and made them have a headache.
Just when the last verse dropped, the younger ones were pushed and thrown to the ground while the oldest almost hit the floor, but was barely able to keep himself kneeled with one leg to gain support. A quick white light flashed behind him and he turned around just in time to see both his brothers transformed into two small little owls. Consequence of their energy drained.
Although he was confused how that was possible and how he was still in his human form.
-You can't say I didn't warn you.- the oldest growled.- And now that you experienced it beforehand... I am going to take my reward.- the man chuckled and walked to where the two young ones where, picking, in a rough way, the little yellow owl.
-WAIT!- he screamed and launched to the man, but he fell straight to the floor now that he felt what was left of his energy disappearing.- You fucking bastard!
-You want him back? Then you better find me some worthy opponents. I want to test it out the all so rumored power that you guys have. But it is not fair that I do it with the weaker, right?- he smiled in a sinister way when he saw the anger reflected in the oldest eyes.- Bring me some real challengers, and maybe, maybe, I'll give 'im back. Sounds like a deal?
-Fuck... You...- he felt his body turning numb and his eyelids growing heavier.
-Don't disappoint me. Don't worry. I'll take care of this lil' fella. At least I'll let you keep the other one.- he laughed for the last time and turned his back to the brothers.
-Sa... Bu...- that was the last thing that the oldest could muster before he passed out hearing the faint footsteps walking away.
The moon was the only witness of the sorrow both brothers felt when they were unable to protect their youngest brother.
