Chapter Text
It was late in the evening when Jeongin had finally made it back home after a long day at work. He dropped his bag by the door, shrugged off his jacket, and hung it on one of the hangers by the entrance. He slipped on his bunny slippers that his friend Minho had gotten for him as a joke when he had moved into his new place. He had told Minho back when he got them that it was a silly gift and he probably wouldn’t end up using them, but when he had tried them on, he couldn’t deny that they were incredibly comfortable and had stuck to using them.
He shuffled further into his apartment and flopped onto the sofa. He contemplated whether or not he should try and make some dinner himself or if he should just order in. He looked at his phone and noticed a notification from his favourite streamer.
Well, that decided it for Jeongin. He opened up the take-out app and started scrolling through the options. He ended up ordering some bibimbap and fried chicken. He got up, walked over to his computer, turned it on, and pulled up twitch, so it was ready for when Chris went live.
Jeongin had stumbled upon Chris’ streams on a lonely night during the pandemic, when he couldn’t sleep and was deprived of any type of human connection that wasn’t related to work. And, as much as he loved his friends, he just couldn’t handle being around Minho and Jisung when he was feeling lonely and missing that special someone in his life. He just needed something to distract him from his everyday life and how he still hadn’t found his soulmate.
The world that Jeongin lived in everyone was assigned a soulmate, a person that was specific for them and would allow them to see the colours of the world, as everyone only saw the world in black and white until they met that special person. A lot of people would walk through life without finding that special person and would settle with another person who hadn’t found their person, but there was the constant understanding that if you found your person, no relationship was 100% safe.
But for the colours to fully develop and show up, you had to meet the person face to face, There had been many cases where people have found their soulmate through live streaming or video calls and especially after COVID and the pandemic, but when you met your soulmate in that way, the colours would be muted and the world looked like it was in washed out sad colours and not the vibrancy that everyone else was talking about.
Jeongin had heard all about this through his friends, Minho and Jisung, who had been so lucky to meet each other all the way back in elementary school. They hadn’t started going out until high school as their families hadn’t approved of them at first and also didn’t feel it was appropriate for two 10-year-olds to start a romantic relationship, which Jeongin honestly could fully understand.
Jeongin really did love Minho and Jisung or Minsung as he and their other friends lovingly referred to them as, he also felt jealous of them and wished he had that person and even though he knew that he had all the time in the world to find the person, he still longed for it.
Though there was one thing that he hadn’t told his friends and that was that he was pretty sure that he had already found his person, but not in person. No, Jeongin was certain that Chris Bang, yes, the streamer, he had been watching for the last 2 years, was his soulmate, as his world started changing right after he started watching him and he started to see the world in muted colours and the only thing that had changed was that he had started watching Chris’s live streams. There hadn’t been any new people at work and he hadn’t met anyone in person as the colours weren't vibrant.
Which had led him to watch Chris religiously and followed him everywhere and even created a stan account for him.
Jeongin rolled his eyes at his moot and continued to scroll through his twitter. He retweeted a few tweets and replied to some of his moots here and there, until he got the notification that Chris was going live.
He opened the stream and joined the chat. He was pretty well-known in the chat as that one delusional fan, because he at one point had said that he thought that Chris was his soulmate through a text to speech message, but the other regular chatters were mainly clowning him about it, as he had become close to a fair few of them.

The start screen was still running and suddenly Chris's voice cut through.
“Hey, hi everyone, just wait a moment, I totally forgot to set my keyboard and mixing board up. So have some patience as I get it set up,” he said.
Jeongin smiled at it and continued to interact with people in the chat.
Iyenaaahbang: jusst take your time, my sweet man

“Hahaha, oh my gosh, Iyenabang, you are being a bit delulu there, not going to lie,” Chris' voice came through as the web camera finally turned on and Chris was there on the screen in all his beautiful glory.
Jeongin looked at Chris and just admired how effortlessly beautiful he was. He silently rejoiced as Chris had refrained from straightening his hair today and had let his curls free and wild around his head. He looked over at chat and saw that everyone else was also going crazy over how Chris was looking.

Jeongin was giggling at his antics in the chat and how everyone else was joining him in the screaming.
“Oh my, chat, please, relax. It really isn’t anything special that I haven't straightened my hair today. Wait, hold on,” Chris said as he got up and went off somewhere off screen to get something. Jeongin was hoping that he hadn’t gone to get some sort of hat to cover up the curls. He groaned in annoyance when Chris returned with a beanie on. He looked over at the chat that shared his disappointment in the offending clothing.
The chat completely exploded with everyone shouting about how he should ditch the hat and that the curls were perfect and he shouldn’t be hiding him and lots and lots of crying emojis. Chris laughed at the chat and shook his head at their antics. Jeongin couldn’t understand why Chris seemed so against accepting any of the compliments that the chat was throwing at him.
“Chat, you guys are going to have to stop your shenanigans. We gotta focus on what we are here for, the music and not you guys complaining about what I decide to wear,” Chris said in a joking tone as he glanced over at the chat.
Iyenaaahbang: but it did look better without the hat.
“Maybe another time, IN. I just don’t feel comfortable with my curls out as it has been a sore spot for me my entire life,” Chris replied with a sigh.
“But that is beside the point. Now to music,” he continued and pulled up the mixing programs on the screen.
Jeongin felt himself blush and the butterfly fluttered around in his belly as he was being noticed by Chris, even though it wasn’t even the first time he had been noticed. Everytime it happened it was the same feeling, which is also one of the reasons that Jeongin was sure that Chris was his soulmate.
Just as he was getting comfortable in his chair to enjoy the stream, the doorbell rang at his door.
“Oh shoot, my food,” Jeongin exclaimed and got up and walked to the door. He opened it, greeted the delivery guy, and thanked him when he handed him his food. He closed the door quickly after receiving the food and hurried back to the stream, hoping he hadn’t missed anything.
When he sat down, it looked like Chris had started to mess around with mixing random sounds and was humming some melody. Jeongin settled into his chair again and started to eat his food as he just enjoyed the random noises coming from the stream and the mindless chatting from Chris. He honestly couldn’t imagine spending his evening in any other way.
As the stream progressed and it seemed like Chris was slowly getting some sort of beat and sound together and Jeongin couldn’t help being impressed by how talented he was and wondering why some company hadn’t scooped him up yet as either an idol or a producer, Chris announced that he would be ending the stream shortly.
“I’m sorry, it is a bit shorter tonight, but I do have a big meeting tomorrow morning about something exciting coming up in the future, that I can’t share yet. So I probably won’t be streaming tomorrow either. I might join Felix for a bit of Minecrafting on his stream tomorrow evening, so tune in to him tomorrow on his stream,” Chris said as he started to wind down the stream. Jeongin jumped straight to the chat to express his disappointment together with everyone else.

“So bye for now and have a lovely evening everyone. Big hugs and bye bye,” Chris said as he leaned forward and pretended to hug the web camera and sat down again, waved one last time and turned off the stream.

Jeongin chuckled at the chat and closed down twitch. The stream had been really good and the song that Chris had been working on sounded so good, but Jeongin also felt he was incredibly biased on that opinion as he loved everything that Chris made and he could do no wrong in Jeongin’s head.
Jeongin got up, stretched, and started to get ready for bed.
As he laid down in his bed, he noticed that he had a new notification on his phone. He opened it up and saw it was a tweet from Chris.
Jeongin smiled and wrote out a reply to the tweet before he put his phone in the charger and laid down to sleep with a smile on his face.
What Jeongin didn’t notice as he fell asleep was the notification that popped up on his screen.
