Work Text:

It was 4:00am on a Tuesday, and Ron was awake.

Hermione was curled up on his right side, hands tucked up under her chin and legs intertwined with his. Harry was sprawled out on his left, one hand resting on the top of Hermione’s head and the other flung off somewhere outside of his peripheral vision. Ron’s own arms were wrapped around each of his lover’s, right hand resting over Harry’s on top of his wife and the other over his husband’s shoulders.

He could be trying to fall back asleep but instead his eyes were trained on Hermione’s left hand, which was laying on his chest. Her wedding ring caught the moonlight just right. It was palladium, white-silver contrasting gorgeously against her dark skin. Lightweight and durable, just like she wanted it, with two small diamonds perched closely to the band so as to not get in her way too much. He remembered how excited she was when they’d got it fitted, quite pleased with herself and her ideas coming to fruition so neatly.

Harry’s was a bit different. Ron slowly wrapped his fingers around his husband’s hand and tilted it slightly so he could see the ring better. It was black titanium, with two thin lines of inlaid gold and silver. It was sleek and modern, something that Harry had hinted that he potentially preferred the designs of when they had first been looking into buying them. The only thing he really asked for was a clear display of both his partners, which were the gold and silver lines respectively.

Ron gently placed Harry’s hand back down, and lifted his own. He held it in the air just above his head, so the window’s light glinted against it just so. It was the most simple of the three, just a gold band on his ring finger. People often teased him for it, looking at how expensive and lustrous his partner’s rings were compared to his own. But he liked it this way. He was always a bit of a traditional guy at heart. It’s why he was the one to stay at home and take care of the kids while the other two worked. It’s why he was the one to cook dinner most nights. It’s why he was the one to get a simple band. Really though, it was so much more to him. The inside curve of the ring had been engraved. Ours, it said in Harry’s handwriting. Together, it said in Hermione’s. Realistically it was very finely cut, but he swore that he could feel the words against his skin. It was a constant comfort, ensuring that he never took them or this life for granted.

He felt Hermione’s head shift against his side, and he glanced down. She was awake, watching him stare at his wedding ring like he was a lovestruck fool. Like he was a newlywed, and not a husband of nearly ten years. She wasn’t much better though, she looked like she’d fallen in love all over again.

“Such a sap,” She whispered, leaning up to gently kiss the underside of his jaw.

Ever the light sleeper, Harry sighed a deep breath into Ron’s chest. “You both are.” He mumbled sleepily, not even lifting his head.

Ron smiled, pressing a long kiss to the tops of each of their heads before snuggling back down into the mattress and settling his head back onto his pillow. He closed his eyes, but he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. “Sue a man for being sentimental.”

Notes:

I'm actually so incredibly proud of this one. I love these three so much, I've got a lot left in store for them and have some works upcoming - But no one will ever be able to convince me that these three are not soulmates in some way.

I'm also a slut for house husband Ron, he is a stay at home dad in my personal agenda ALWAYS!!!
