Chapter Text
Protag took a step into the break room. And head over to the coffee machine, he really needed the energy. Ever since he’s gotten into [ ???? ] corp its been so draining for him as a “newbie” Suddenly he heard a familiar annoying voice
"hey newbie!" Coworker called placing his hand on Protags shoulder,
Protag flinched, almost jumping at the hand on his shoulder before turning to face the tall man. He looked up at him, crossing his arms over his chest. "What do you want?" He said, irritation already beginning to show.
Protag let out a low grumble. He knew this man. He always stuck by him, somehow finding a way to annoy him. Despite how hard he tried to get him to leave him alone, he never would, for some reason.
"Sooo~ I need you to do me a small favor!" Coworker spoke with a sheepish smile while Protag gave him a deadpan look
Protag raised a brow in both curiosity and annoyance, already thinking of a way to get out of this one. Why him of all people?
"And what is this.. 'favor' that you need?.." he questioned, his stance staying firm and his arms still remaining crossed.
"will you do it though??" Coworker asked rubbing the back of his head
Protag narrowed his eyes, thinking for a moment. The man was persistent, and it was annoying, but he decided to give it a go.
"What's in it for me?" He shot back, leaning back against the break room wall as he looked up at the taller man with a doubtful look.
"hm.. a promotion maybe" Coworker smirked, placing his hands on his hips. He nearly choked when he heard the word 'promotion'.
his previous scowl softened into a look of shock and surprise. A promotion? That's what the man was hinting at?
Finally, he spoke up. "..What do I have to do?" He asked, looking up at the man with skepticism.
"Oh nothing! Just take care of my child for a week!"
Protag once again froze, his eyes widening at the man's words.
..
Babysitting? He would be on babysitting duty for a week?
He nearly groaned in protest, pinching the bridge of his nose as he looked down in disbelief. This man was going to be the death of him.
Babysit? He'd never babysat before in his entire life, not once. He never had any siblings at all, he just never had to.
He stood still, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at the man with shock. "I... what? Babysit your.. your child?" he sputtered out, trying to comprehend what he just heard.
The taller man nodded with an innocent smile on his face while Protag looked like he was ready to pounce on him
Protag took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. "And how old is this.. child, exactly?" He said slowly, hoping it wasn't any young age that was hard to deal with.
"He just turned 6. I'm sure you can handle it!"
Protag nearly choked. A mere 6-year-old? Dealing with a child that young for a whole week?
He let out a low grumble, running a hand through his hair. "Why... why don't you just get an actual babysitter?" He protested, raising a brow at him.
"The usual one is uh- in the hospital" Coworker averted his eyes. His usual loud voice slowly fading into a mumble but Protag could still hear it
Protag exhaled. Typical, and just his luck. Of course the usual one just had to be in the hospital.
He let out a defeated sigh, knowing he was getting himself into something he probably would regret. The promotion was so close he could almost reach it, and he wasn't backing out now. It's just a week anyway. How hard could it be?
The man grumbled to himself, finally speaking up. "...Fine. I'll do it."
"atta boy!" The blondes face lit up again and wrapped his arm around Protags neck
"The business trip is next week! And it'll be a day off for the whole 2 weeks. Here's my address!" The taller man smiled and gave a piece of paper with his address written on it
Protag grumbled as the man wrapped his arm around his neck, almost flinching at the sudden touch. He took the paper with the address, stuffing it into his pocket before pushing away from the man.
"And be sure to hold up your end of the deal as well." He warned, giving him an icy glare as he rubbed his neck where the man's arm had been. "So I'll definitely get a promotion as long as I do this, right?"
"Of course! Just make sure to actually come! We wouldn't want a 6 year old alone in the house right?" The blonde pointed out a hint of worry in his tone
Protag exhaled, the words slowly sinking in and making him more worried. A 6-year-old alone in a house..
He nodded his head firmly, trying to compose himself and appear more confident. "I'll come, don't worry. Just.. make sure I get the promotion, alright?"
"Of course! And make sure to not get his little friend angry or else it'll bite your arm like the last babysitter and oh! Look at the break times over byeee!" Coworker spoke in a rush and before protag knew it the man was gone in the blink of an eye
"Wait, what?!" Protag called after him, but it was too late. The man was already gone, and break time was over.
He let out a low groan, his shoulders slumping. What the hell did he just agree to? A child biting?..
He let out an exhale, already dreading the week to come.
