Work Header

May I offer you an impromptu movie night on this autumn evening?

Summary:

The cold weather never sat well with Phoenix.
He couldn’t wear his normal style of clothing, the chilly weather didn’t mix well with tube tops and similar fashion choices
It always made him feel rather sluggish too, not even having the motivation to partake in his hobbies.
How miserable.
Lucky for him, a certain someone had an idea to cheer him up a little!

Notes:

It’s just a simple fluffy story about two of my original characters!

If you take the time to read this, thank you so much! It means a lot to me <3

Work Text:

It was a cool Saturday evening, moonlight enveloped the outside as chills dashed through the air.
The cold wasn’t too appealing but It was a quiet night at least.

Even if the night was nice and peaceful, Phoenix was annoyed.
It was freezing. He had resorted to wearing his best friend’s oversized jumper to deal with the lowering temperatures since all the blankets (they only actually owned one) in the home were in the wash and he did not want to go through the effort of dragging is quilt downstairs from the top floor.

With all the problems, it was at least quiet.

But, of course, it didn’t last long when the sounds of someone knocking at the door interrupted the former quiet atmosphere.

To Phoenix it was surprising when upon opening the door he saw his boyfriend standing there.
He was wearing his regular outfit, cropped sleeveless jacket with matching sleeveless shirt and shorts (all in black, white and orange), those were definitely not suited to the weather.
In his arms was a blanket, it looked fuzzy! At least those are suited for the season.

“Ricky! Hon, I wasn’t expecting you. Come in!” Exclaimed Phoenix, flicking his blond hair out of his right eyes way.

He hooked an arm around his newly arrived partner, dragging him into the home.

As he hurried his boyfriend into his home, Phoenix peering into the main room, taking a look to see if his best friends/roommates were lounging in there.
Fortunately they weren’t.

Unhooking his arm, Phoenix flounced into the room.
Ricky trudged in behind him, kicking off his shoes as he went.

Throwing down the blankets onto the sofa, freeing his hands, Ricky turned to Phoenix. ‘Sorry for being here unexpectedly, I worried that the cold was making you sad’ he signed.

“Aw Ricky, that’s so sweet of you’” gushed Phoenix, “Surprise appearance from you are always welcome! Although, I didn’t think you owned any blankets. Did - by any chance - you borrow them from Marcy?”

With a strange, almost strangled sounding, chuckle, Ricky signed his reply, ‘Maybe, maybe not. She won’t notice. She has a pile of 10 that she never uses.’

“I am sure it’ll be fine! I need one at the moment, thank you for bringing it”

‘You’re welcome, I knew you’d be happy about it. And, it even has lemurs on it

Sometimes Phoenix wondered how he ended up with such a thoughtful partner, he remembered his favourite animal; he only mentioned it once in passing!, “That’s what makes it so much better,”

Flopping down next to the blanket, Ricky signed with a soft sigh, ‘I was thinking we could watch a movie,’ earnest smile on his face.

With a matching grin in return, Phoenix jumped down next to Ricky, “Sounds absolutely wonderful,” he grinned. He grabbed the blankets from the other side of Ricky (good for Phoenix that he was a lanky guy), throwing them over them both, blocking out the lowering temperatures of the autumn season.

It took a good few minutes of debates between the two before they finally chose a movie. The couple settled on something simple that would make them laugh. It was an animated film, Madagascar to be more specific.

It didn’t take long for the jokes to make Phoenix burst with laughter

Ricky silently laughed along with his boyfriend.

Shuffling a bit lower, in an attempt move to the same height as his shorter parter, Phoenix cuddled into Ricky’s side while wrapping his arms around him in a big bear hug - giving him a kiss on the cheek as he did.
Naturally he received one in return.

Time flew as the movie played on, it was entertaining to them both and the blanket kept the two warm. Near the end though, only one of them was actually watching the film.

Still snuggled into Ricky’s side, arms still around him, Phoenix’s soft snores filled the room.

Ricky yawned. His partner’s gentle snores were almost like a lullaby.

It had been a long day for Ricky, he only just got back from a dangerous all-day mission before coming round to see Phoenix. All he did before coming over was use the bathroom, make himself look presentable and steal borrow a blanket from Marcy’s room.
So now was a perfect time to rest.

With a soft smile and another quiet yawn, Ricky stroked Phoenix’s hair. It seemed like he his plan to cheer him up worked? Well, if him falling asleep means that he was cheered up.

Looking up to find the remote with hopes to stop the film, Ricky’s eyes glazed past the doorway, where he spotted a head and pair of eyes looking back at him.

Lucky for him, it was just Marcus, another occupant of the house (and Phoenix’s best friend), he whispered to Ricky, “I’ll message Rupert to let him know that you’re staying here tonight”

Ricky nodded, grateful expression etched onto his face. Nodding in return, Marcus left.

Stopping his stroking of Phoenix’s hair, Ricky made himself comfortable, pulling a bit more blanket over himself before closing his eyes and happily letting sleep engulf him in its comforting arms.

Notes:

I’ll probably write more for these silly gays and their friends at some point if anyone cares to read about them
