Chapter Text

“The loneliest girl” they called her. She’d spend all her time in the library, constantly reading books about magical worlds with princes and princesses, witches and warlocks, knights and gnomes. She talked weird, and had a funny tone. She was only interested in fantasy, never reality. Her only friends were her own toys and the librarian, Lisa who was always impressed in the condition and time she brought her books back in. Always turned in early, never tattered, and somehow  the strange girl always had so much to say about the books. What a peculiar one, she was.

Not everyone called her “The loneliest girl” though, in fact her parents called her Amy! But she called herself Fischl, Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort. And tomorrow was her 14th birthday! How exciting!

Fischl sat on her bed reading a new series called “The Pale Princess and the Seven Pygmies”. She picked up all seven of the volumes from the library earlier that day and was already on the third volume! Perhaps she’d finish it before her birthday even arrived… She was a fast reader since it was all Fischl ever did. Though alone most of the time, she could fall into a world of magic and feel as if she was the main character, going on adventures, with her closest friends, and even finding a handsome knight or prince to make for a very wonderful love interest. No one else understood her love for books, in fact not only did they not understand, but thought it was weird. Many of her parents fellow adventurer’s at the guild stuck up their nose around the strange child, or ignored her entirely.

No matter she thought, for a true Prinzessin shouldn’t have only the people to confide in, perhaps it was part of her story!! Yes, it must be. Every Prinzessin has a somewhat interesting past, this must be a sign! Now all she’d need is a prinz and she’d be able to start her story, isn’t that wonderful!?

Suddenly, her reading was interrupted by a knock on her bedrooms’s door. It was her mother, and her father too! She entered the room holding a small black box, with a beautiful purple velvet ribbon, knotted carefully into a bow. It was about the size of a single roof tile. Though,  it seemed very precious by the looks of it, so carefully crafted.

“Amy dear, may I come in?” Her voice in a soft calm tone, Fischl’s father standing closely behind.

“I heard about the uh.. comments about you today while I was picking up lunch at good hunter today and I just wanted to.. check in on you.” Fischl’s mother was very well with her words, but she seemed to be tripping up at the moment.

Fischl’s face fell flat, her eyebrows slightly furrowed as her mouth went straight, her cheeks being pushed every so slightly pushed closer making a dimple appear on her right cheek. It wasn’t recognizable unless she made that face or laughed really hard for some reason. She’d forget she had it from time to time.

Fischl’s father sighed, looking down at the two girls sitting upon a small bed, “Amy, I know that you love your books and all but you’re 14 tomorrow, and you’ll be old enough to work for the adventurer’s guild and I think that.. it’s time you should grow out of this silly thing, yeah?”

Silly thing? Reading books was a silly thing? Or was it the way she talked, or dressed, or avoided contact with many of the other kids her age because they’d just make fun of her? What was so silly about being interested in books? It was the same as liking to adventure, or sing, or even enjoy Monstadt’s dandelion whine, why could everyone else like things but she couldn’t like books? Lisa likes books, and she’s one of the most beloved people in Mondstadt, let alone the Ordo Favonius!

“I’m… I’m not sure what you mean father..” Fischl spoke and a confused yet saddened tone.

“Well, this whole ‘Fischl’ thing is something I’d expect from a child.. But you’re no child, in fact you’re quite the opposite, Amy. You’re a teenager now and should start taking things more seriously, many kids your age have already started to ponder whether they want to work for the guild, or the Knights of Favonius, or the cathedral, or even the Fatui. You only care about your books I’m afraid, and that’s not going to land you a spot anywhere except a seat right in that library where you always are!”

The room went silent. Her father always “played along” with Fischl’s acts and suddenly he turned against it just because she was growing.

Fischl’s mother sighed, looking up at her husband, both with a painfully obvious look of guilt in their eyes. With a weak smile, her mother handed Fischl the small box. She put her hands together and rested them on her lap, “Go on dear, open it.”

Fischl, still upset opened the beautiful boxe’s lid to reveal a small handbook with a bow and arrow symbol indented into a brown leather cover. It had golden rims on each corner, and noticeable stitching across the edges.

“Your father and I noticed that you like archery,” Her mother still spoke in a soft tone, “so we picked up this book from Katheryne with some tips and instructions to practice. It will come in handy when you’re exploring and come across hilichurl camps. They’ve been gathering outside many busy places in Mondstadt so we just thought it would be nice to know how to protect youself.”

Fischl held the small book in her two hands, and opened the first page. It had a pen on a string attached to the text block. The very first page was empty and only read “This Book Belongs To” and a space to write the holder’s name. Picking up the pen, Fischl wrote out “Amy” and showed her parents, putting on a smile that was painstakingly obvious to be insincere.

Yet, both of her parents smiled at the book, “Very good dear,” Fischl’s father nodded and gave her a kiss on her forehead, “We’ll see you in the morning, goodnight.”

Her parents exited the room and Fischl blew out her candle beside her bed. She put the new archery book right on her nightstand and noticed the book she’d been reading earlier was still on her lap.

Fischl sighed and tucked the book behind her archery guide carefully. Choking back tears she laid her head down and rolled to the other side of her bed, too embarrassed to even look at her nightstand.

“Maybe, if I had a friend this could be different. Perhaps I wouldn’t be so odd if someone else was like me.”

Chapter Text

When Fischl awoke the next morning she was still upset from the night before. Rolling over, she glanced at her handbook and sighed.

It was her birthday today, she should be acting like a grownup now. Though she wasn’t old enough to go to the taverns yet she could still visit the library, perhaps she could spend her birthday there. After all, spending the day doing the thing she loved most was an excellent birthday activity! Too bad she wasn’t going to be able to spend it with the people she loved most.

Still, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of sorrow. Maybe her father was right, Fischl never had any real friends. The kind adventurer’s and the maid she would run into time to time at the library weren’t really friends. She’s never had a real conversation with people by herself, never shared an interest to explore, and most definitely never told anyone about her favorite books. No one really understood how she spoke, so maybe she should change; for her own sake.

The thoughts racked her mind, trying to be positive, she grabbed her bow, her archery book, and headed straight for the library. The less time she could get there in then the less time she’d spend feeling sorry for herself.

The library is such a wonderful place to visit, the quiet environment surrounded by hundreds— even thousands of books for anything you could think of ties together so well.

Unfortunately, it’s easy to overlook the setting of anywhere when your upset. Especially when your seconds from tears on your birthday. So it’s not surprise that when the tired, saddened, overwhelmed lass layer down her head, trying to hold back her tears at the sight of her favorite books series, “Flowers for Princess Fischl”.

Amy was not Fischl. Amy was just an ordinary girl, lonely yes, but no princess. Maybe Amy would make friends, but that would be Amy’s story, not Fischl’s. If Amy joined the Adventurer’s Guild and made a friend, Fischl would still be the lonely girl she always was.

She dug her head into her arms and closed her eyes, trying to be silent. It wasn’t often she was in this bad of a mood, usually when she was she’d distract herself by reading or practicing archery, never did she think either things would bring her so much dread so suddenly.

Her head still buried, a small violet glow gleamed through the cracks of her arms. Curious, she lifted her head to find the mysterious light was coming from across the room, right next to the shelf with “Flowers for Princess Fischl” was on.

Fischl squinted, then stood up from her chair. The library was empty aside from her, or so she thought; because in the direction the oddly eerie glow was coming from she heard a voice of man. The voice was low pitched and assertive. She couldn’t make out exactly what it was saying either, it sounded like muffled… squawks? This couldn’t be right.

Confused (yet intrigued) the young girl started towards the direction of the murmurs and strange glow. The closer she got, the more she realized how little she knew what was happening. Nothing seemed to be moving in the library and it was completely dark excluding the purple hue. Usually Lisa would be in the library, always kindly creating Fischl, sometimes even attempting to spark a conversation with her. But today, she was no where to be seen. Perhaps she was with Jean, the current acting grand master for The Favonius. Though, even is Lisa wasn’t there was always atleast someone else in the library. Sometimes it was Mona, Fischl had run into her a few times and noticed she was a mage just like Lisa; she was usually there studying astrology of practicing magic. Or sometimes there was a girl, (maybe about Mona’s age) constantly reading books about Khanri’ah and Hilichurls. Her mint green hair and huge glasses stood out from the library’s mostly brown and other dulls colors atmosphere. But that wasn’t even all either! So many people visited the library every day, some going with friends like the weird calvary captain for the knights and the chief alchemist (though the captain really only talked the poor alchemist’s ear off, not letting him do anything productive in his time spent there). Some people went alone, like Mona, the Hilichurl girl and even the acting grand master, Jean, herself!

But today the library was empty. No Lisa, no Jean, no Mona, neither the calvary caption nor the chief alchemist. It was just Fischl and the squawking creature.

The noises got closer and the little light became brighter until finally, Fischl was there. She stood face to face with purple stone and a…

Chapter Text

A bird?

Stopping in her tracks, Fischl backed away a bit. She rested her hand upon her cheek. She must have been sleeping, she hadn’t woken up yet. Or perhaps she was hallucinating, oh yes that must be it. Fischl pinched her cheek.. ouch.

So she wasn’t asleep. She was awake, this was real! Come to think of it, squawking birds in big libraries weren’t the strangest thing to happen in.. well anywhere in Teyvat honestly. Fischl had heard stories of citizens in Mondstadt who had encountered Feild Tillers in Stormberror Mountains, or Eyes of the Storm at the thousand winds temple.

Fischl took a deep breath, and started slowing walking towards the bird. It was a mostly black (with a small tint of purple) raven. It was beautiful. The most beautiful bird she’d ever seen, it’s feathers all had a beautiful shine to them, almost like how a rainbow lights up a gray sky. It’s shimmering violet streaks complimented the black feathers very nicely. As a matter of fact, the bird was Fischl’s favorite colors too!

“Hello,” the raven said. Fischl jumped a bit at the sight of hearing a bird talk, “I don’t know where I am.”

The raven lifted its wing, almost like a vampire covering it’s mouth with their cape.

Fischl stood silently for a moment to collect herself before she spat out a sentence.

“Why how couldn’t you? You are in.. uhm.. My own fragment of a reality, magnificently crafted by my own two hands!”

“Oh.. Okay. But.. who are you? Why am I here, miss?”

Fischl didn’t know why it was here! She didn’t even know why she was in the library to be honest. All her memories leading up to this exact moment were a distant blur of a picture painted across her mind, but the paint was smeared and unrecognizable now.

“I am the Prinzessin der Verurteilung of course! I created you to serve me as my right hand man and to be guided through the unwritten ways of this world through my words!”

Fischl knew she sounded silly, she couldn’t believe what she was saying to be frank. But the raven seemed to understand her perfectly.

“Oh, now I understand! But what will you call me, miss? I can’t serve you without a name to bear.”

Thinking back, Fischl remembered the name Oz. It meant “courage” and “strength”, neither of which Fischl had, but it was a nice name, and surely the bird didn’t know that behind the figure she perceived as a godly being was just a lonely little girl waiting for someone to play with her.

“I shall call you Ozvaldo, Ozvaldo von Hrafnavins! But I suppose one can shorten it down, so your name will be Oz. You may refer me as miss, or Fräulein if you please.”

Silence fell between the confused girl and the small bird. Almost as if nothing was said at all, until the Oz flew off the shelf and near Fischl’s side, as if to be a bodyguard for a world renowned celebrity known in every depth of Teyvat.

“As you wish, Mein Fräulein.”

As Oz exited his position on the shelf, the familiar purple mist around them was uncovered, revealing a purple stone with the symbol of the element of Electro indented into the middle of the stone. Fischl knew right away what it was, it was a vision! In the many times she visted the plaza or library she had seen many people with visions, gifts from The Devine and only bestowed unpon the most worthy of creatures in Teyvat. Electro visions represented potential and seeking the world differently from the rest, just as the goddess of electro, Beelzebul, herself saw the world.

Fischl reached for the small stone, her hand shaking. She grabbed it and held it in her two hands, mesmerized. A real vision, she actually had a vision! One for herself to keep and flaunt to the rest of the world.

Weird as she might be, she was acknowledged by the gods because of it. Appreciated and loved enough to be gifted the greatest thing anyone could ever ask for.

Fischl took the vision in her palms, and wielded it carefully, attempting to be gentle as she ran out of the library. She needed to show her parents immediately! The young girl quickly made her way up the stairs and outside the library. She peaked around the humungous library doors and exited the empty Favonius Headquarters only to be treated by a large crowd of people outside. Infront of the doors were two adventureres from the guild along with the Acting Grand Master Jean and Lisa, the two of them displayed a sign to join the adventurer’s guild. The two adventurers explained the benefits of joining the guild whilst walking around Jean and Lisa. Fischl gulped. Where did all these people come from? And how did they get here so quickly?

She tryed to escape the crowd and run home only to find her parents standing in the crowd.. right infront of Fischl’s face.

“Amy! Where were you? Good heavens you’ve been gone all day dear!” Fischl’s mother took her by the shoulders with a worried expression upon her face.

Gone all day? How could that be? Fischl had only been in the library for 30 minutes! She’d only left right after she woke up, how could she have been gone all day?

Glancing up at the sky she noticed it was almost sun down, the sky had turned from a bright blue to a beautiful orange and purple shade colliding together. This couldn’t be right. She was only in the library for a few minutes,

Right?

Chapter Text

Fischl nervously chuckled, “Sorry ma.. I lost track of time again..”

Her father and mother looked at eachother concerningly. Fischl could feel sweat running down her face as she stood there, smiling awkwardly.

The silence was loud, far too loud for Fischl. Breaking the awkward silence, she cleared her throat and reached into her bag.

“Oh uh- guess what.. Mom and dad?” Fischl dug through her bag to find her vision. It had stopped glowing so brightly, but in the darkness of her cramped sachal full of books you could see it very well, like a moon lighting up the night’s sky. Carefully, she lifted the jewel up and held it up for her parents to see, “I found it in the library!”

~~~~~~~~~
It had been one week since Fischl was gifted her vision. Every single day since her birthday she woke up and spent hours outside practicing how to use it. On the first day, she didn’t know how to use it at all, she even dropped it by mistake and thought she damaged it. By day two, she’d figured out how to harness electro powers and was able to make a couple of aimed shots charged with electric energy. From then on, she got better and better and more used to using her vesion, and what came with it as well!
Oz grew quickly, by the time Fischl awoke the morning after her birthday he was already the size of a pigeon, when the day before he was barley the size of a sparrow.
Fast forward to today, he was the size of a normal raven now. Fischl spent all her time talking to Oz when she wasn’t using her vision, for the first time in a long time Fischl was able to have a full conversation with someone, and get a positive response too! She found Oz to be one of her best friends ever, though he’d only been around for a week.
With Fischl’s newfound friend and vision, she finally agreed with her parents and decided to join the Adventurer’s Guild. She never was against the idea, but one of the first things you have to do is find a team and well.. It was painstakingly obvious on how that might be an issue.
However, according to her parents there was rumored to be an adventure team falling apart! Member’s kept leaving due to unfortunate encounters, they believed they all had something to due with the team’s captain. He’s said to have really bad luck, almost like a curse.
How strange.
At this moment, Fischl was making her way to the plaza of Mondstadt to check into the guild. Nervous, but eager she stepped up to the front of the guild’s head quarters.
“Ad Astra Abyssosue,” Katheryne, the reciptonist of the guild greeted Fischl warmly, just like all of the other adventurers who visited, “Welcome to the Adventure’s Guild, how can I help you?”
Fischl cleared her throat, “One hath come to claim a commission, thee suggested to arrive at once to assist and attend upon thy troubled adventurers and their less fortunate comrade, yes?”
Katheryne’s lifeless eyes turned to a handbook, full of commissions and who they were claimed by.
“Hmm.. Oh yes. You’ve arrived just in time, we need you to go sub in for a wounded adventurer on a commission. It shouldn’t be too difficult, only two pyro slimes, one samachurl and a couple of hilichurls. They were spotted at a camp near The Statue of the Seven in Windrise. There is a creek leading to your destination, follow the water and you’ll get there easy! If you can do that then we can get you officially recognized as an adventurer for the guild and sign you up!”
“Only a few hilichurls?” Fischl thought to herself, “I haven’t even defeated one hilichurl before.. let alone multiple.”
No matter though, Fischl in the books was fearless! She could take down any beast with ease, so surely this Fischl could handle a few small monsters.
“At once, I extend my gratitude upon thou, madam Katheryne.” Fischl placed her hands upon her hips and knodded, before turning around and leaving for the commission.
In all honesty, Fischl was more nervous the closer she got. Occasionally, she’d stop and consider going home. But she knew she wanted to do this, why was she stopping herself? Maybe it was Fischl who wanted to carry through and commit to the guild, and Amy who wanted to leave.
But Fischl was the one who was gifted a vision, right? Fischl is the one who decided to agree with Amy’s parents and take the opportunity. Fischl was the one who was walking with a river to find a commission. All Amy was doing was setting her back, and Fischl couldn’t afford any of that right now.
Alas, Fischl arrived to her destination. Mondstadt’s common breeze shook the leaves of it’s most beloved tree, The Symbol of Mondstadt’s Hero. It was said to be a tribute to Vanessa, the founder of The Ordo Favonius. It was the biggest tree in Mondstadt, and maybe even one of the biggest in Teyvat. Undoubtedly one of the oldest aswell. It was a breathtaking view, as right beneath it was a statue of the seven, its graceful glow illuminated everything around it, as if to be the center of an attraction.
Breaking from her short lasting trance, Fischl turned around to see three adventurers fending off hilichurls. She counted six hilichurls in total, but the adventurers had only managed to fend off one so far.
Fischl hurried to the scene, bow in hand and aimed for one sitting atop a makeshift tower, made out of scrap wood and old rags. She let go of her bow as it flawlessly struck down the hilichurl and caused it to fall onto the ground, to where she aimed again and it evaporated into dust almost immediately. Fischl couldn’t deny she felt a small sense of guilt, but they were getting closer and closer to where people lived and even harder to get rid of.
Without much time to think Fischl aimed for another one, this one was on the ground. It was near a red barrel fighting with an adventurer who looked to be struggling. He had good foot work and was quite handy with his sword, the only problem was this specific hilichurl was dancing, as if to taunt the young latter about the fact he couldn’t slash it. Upon inspecting the boy Fischl lost grip and hit the oddly colored barrel and it exploded, sending both the young adventurer and hilichurl flying.
The hilichurl was immediately killed, its mask covered in ashes hit the ground and cracked. The boy on the other hand seemed to be fine, other than the fact he had taken a hard fall… and landed right on top of his wrist.
Fischl gasped in horror, “Oz! I, Prinzessin order thou to wend and tend to the fellow!”
Oz appeared and immediately flew into action, “At once, mein fräulein.”
Fischl helped fend off the rest of the hilichurls while Oz and another adventurer guided the wounded latter to sit beneath Mondstadt’s beloved tree.
The boy didn’t seem too worried, he chuckled and said he was fine, in attempt to make a thumbs up gesture his hand fell completely down, almost like it was a loose limb.
Fischl felt awful, but also somewhat confused. Her aim was always on exact point, even before she got her vision. Getting caught off guard was so rare for her she was almost dumbfounded. She barely lay her eyes on the boy, and she still somehow messed up an electric charged shot she could’ve easily made with her eyes closed?
The boy sat on the steps leading up to a statue of a seven and groaned. He looked to be used to this sort of ordeal, as he took put away his sword and took out a handbook. It was completely falling apart, the cover seemed torn and burnt. The boy didn’t care, he took out a pen and started jotting down his thoughts with his good hand and resting the other on his lap.
The fight ended quickly and the commission was effortlessly, but that was the last thing on Fischl mind at that moment. The second the final hilichurl evaporated she sprinted to the wounded boy to apologize, she was so embarrassed she even forgot to talk in her usual, formal manner.
“Oh my goodness are you alright—! I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to hit that barrel, I was aiming for the monster but then I ju-“
The strange boy giggled, “Hey don’t worry, I’m sorry for throwing you off guard, I didn’t mean to mess up your shot.”
Messing up her shot? What was he on about?
Fischl suddenly remembered that she was talking to a real person- and that she hadn’t even been speaking in her polite manner she was known for. Her face flushed red, how embarrassing to forget your emote persona after breaking someone wrist!
Fischl cleared her throat, “Enlighten me young sir, but I seemed to hath been at the fault for your… uhm.. that injury! Hast thou a mingled wrist.”
The latter stared in confusion for a moment before breaking into another chuckle, this guy laughed a lot.
“I like the way you talk miss!! What’s your name?”
“I am Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort, Prinzessin de Verurteilung.”
“Oh cool!! My names Bennett!”
Chapter Text
Bennett is a strange character, maybe even stranger than Fischl. He trips over rocks and his jagged teeth cause him to talk in a lisp. He’s friendly though, and he hasn’t given Fischl a dirty look even once; which is odd considering that she literally made him break his wrist.
He talked a lot, similarly to Fischl, but around him she felt herself falling silent. The boy out talked Fischl by far- with more nonsense than herself.
On their way back to the guild, Fischl followed closely behind Bennett. At first, she’d figured he was talking to himself, like how she would before Oz started to acompany her, but when he turned his head around and was to confused to why he hadn’t gotten an answer from her, she realized he had been talking to her this entire time!
“Uh.. are you okay miss? You haven’t been answering me..” Bennett tilted his head in confusion.
“Ah, young man, I indeed give ear to thine. Thou strike me intrigued.”
Bennett grinned brightly, his face was bruised and he had two black eyes, but his smile was sincere and brought a sense of dopamine to Fischl, she couldn’t help but crack a small smile back at the strange, beat up latter.
After what seemed like forever, the adventurers were waking across the stone bridge to enter the main city of Mondstadt. The city has a rather pleasant aura, many bards infuse the air with joyous tunes and the scent of wine dances in the wind as if to be waves of a romantic essence, guiding you towards the town’s plaza.
The Mondstadt Adventurer’s Guild is a small building that sits almost exactly infront of the gates to the city. Most adventurers that aren’t from Mondstadt drop by letters and mail from other branches of the guild. Currently, a messenger from Fontaine was dropping off a box of Belle fruits to be given to be delivered to a house from Springdale. A guild member with nothing to do gets to run small, simple errands such as that when they have no commissions for complete.
Just before the band of adventurers were about to head into the city Bennett tripped over a huge rock that Fischl was positive wasn’t there just a minute ago. On their short walk from the big tree to the city gates, Bennett had tripped on multiple rocks and gotten multiple rocks thrown at him that seemed to come from nowhere.
“Ughh are you serious,” Bennett grumbled, standing back up and dusting himself off, “What’s that even doing here?!”
He sighed and made his way through the gates and stood next to Fischl as the oldest adventurer claimed their commission rewards and marked it finished. Oz perched himself onto Fischl’s shoulder, she dug put a small pouch of valberrys and allowed him to snack on them while Fischl waited to talk to Katheryne about becoming an adventurer.
“Where did you get him, miss?” Bennett turned to Fischl with the same friendly grin he’d worn since they completed the commission, his emerald eyes sparkling against the orange and pink hues of a Mondstadt sunset.
“Well every Prinzessin has their trustworthy steed, no?” Fischl replied, “Oz was crafted with extraordinary sorcery from Immernachtreich. Only the regal and their most beloved sworn art capable to master it.”
“Immernachtreich?” Bennett blurted out, confused and yet invested.
“Mine home world, surely thou art familiar with the one and only Prinzessin de Verurteilung’s kingdom?”
“No miss,” Bennett said, “I’ve never heard of Ima- inner— aranch- your home world before. We should go explore it sometime, it sounds really cool!!! I want to learn that cool magic-y stuff that made your bird! Maybe I could make a friend for me, like a porcupine— Ooh! Or a lizard that can fly!”
Fischl couldn’t help but let out a small giggle at the boy’s description of how he’d make a companion.
A flying, jelly breathing lizard with the breath of sweet madame? She thought, Perhaps being a princess from another world wasn’t so crazy.
As the other adventurers left the guild’s stand, Fischl and Bennett made their way up the steps and Bennett waved— well, more like shook his broken wrist in a back and forth motion that could only be perceived as waving by himself.
“As astra Abyssosque, welcome to the adventurer’s guild. How may O help you?”
“Greetings Katheryne,” Fischl curtsied, “I’ve completed the tasks thou requested.”
“Oh yes! Welcome back, Fischl! I see you’ve already met the leader of the team you’re going to be assigned to, so if you’re ready please sign your name here and here and.. here!”
Katheryne turned and reached for a stack of papers at the desk she was standing at, every move she made you could hear a faint turning of gears going on inside of her robotic body. It was a little unsettling considering how real she looked, but most adventurers don’t pay it any mind.
Fischl glanced over at Bennett (who was picking at dry mud on his good arm) and gave him a small smile once she signed her name on all the papers. Until then, she hadn’t quite understood why he’d been acting so strange and why the whole world seemed to be throwing stones in his path, until he grinned right back at Fischl, and then to Katheryne; his bright, beady eyes full of joy and his both rows of his crooked teeth were stacked atop the other, that even with the gap in between his front teeth it was obvious that this was the most happy he’d been in a while.
With that, Bennett started to jump around on the steps, paying no mind to the mud he’d just splashed in or the wrist that was flailing in the air as he balled his fists and held them close to his torso.
“Thank you so much miss Katheryne- I promise that this time I won’t let my bad luck get in the way of my adventure team- I pinky promise, swear on Barbatos!!!!”
Bennett continued his triumphant happy dance for a moment and then turned to Fischl and gave her the tightest hug she may have ever received, she could barely breath, and the small spikes on Bennett’s clothes were poking her, but it didn’t matter.
Because now, for the first time in her whole entire life not only did she have something to do other than read, but she had a friend. A human friend, a human friend who didn’t think she was weird for the way she talked or dressed, but a human friend who hugged her tight and was equally excited to have someone to explore with.
“We’re gonna make the best adventure team ever, miss princess!!”
“I agree.”
