It was an accident.
He’d never meant for it to happen. He wasn’t supposed to ever let it out because he knew Thomas didn’t feel the same way. Couldn’t feel the same way. It was okay. Aris thought he was an expert at keeping his feelings hidden under lock and key. Had thought.
He’d kissed Thomas.
Thomas blinked at him. Aris stared back, frozen.
Then panicked.
“Oh shit.” he ran his hands through his hair, looking anywhere but at Thomas. “Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit—“
“Aris—“
He darted into a different room before Thomas could finish speaking, locking the door behind him. Shit.
Thomas blinked again when Aris moved away from him so fast, he was practically a blur. One second he was in front of him, the next he was gone. He heard the door to the bathroom lock.
“Aris,” Thomas called, approaching the door and knocking on it.
“Go away,” Aris’ voice came back, sounding petulant.
Thomas sighed. “C’mon Aris, come out,” he said.
“No!”
“Then let me in.”
“No! Just, go away!”
Thomas couldn’t help his chuckle. This was ridiculous. “Aris, this is my house. You can’t stay in my bathroom forever,” he responded.
“Wanna bet?” Aris’ voice was laced with nerves.
Thomas rolled his eyes, then made a trip to the kitchen where he got a butter knife. He then returned and used it to unlock the bathroom door from the outside.
He opened the door to find Aris bolting towards the window. He acted fasted, grabbing Aris’ arm. Aris couldn’t look at him, panic in his eyes.
“Thomas, look, I’m sorry—“
Thomas didn’t let him finish. He cupped his face, making Aris’ startled gaze flash up at him, and kissed him.
Finally.
Aris’ jaw dropped when Thomas gently pulled away, hands still on his face. Thomas just smiled at him.
He swallowed. “You—“
“Yeah,” Thomas breathed, grin growing.
Aris needed a moment to process what had just happened. When he did, he swatted Thomas’ shoulder. “Why didn’t you say anything?!” he demanded.
Thomas balked. “Well, why didn’t you?!” he exclaimed indignantly.
“Actually, I did,” Aris said, crossing his arms. He flushed and averted his gaze downward at the memory of just a few minutes ago in the living room, clearing his throat.
Thomas smirked, taking his hands and stepping close to him again. “So it’s all good?” he asked.
Aris looked at him, gathering his nerve. “Yeah, I guess so,” he said, then leaned in, cupping Thomas’ face and kissing him.
Thomas kissed back, hands going up to hold his own face, preciously. Aris’ heart could melt.
Joy was in both their eyes, smiles on their mouths, when they parted.
“I can’t believe you tried to get out through the window,” Thomas laughed quietly.
Aris huffed, “Well it’s a good thing you stopped me.”
“You wouldn’t have even been able to fit through, it’s too small.”
“I was determined. I would’ve found a way.”
Thomas laughed, then kissed him and Aris smiled against his lips.
