Chapter Text
Silence crept through the empty clearing, dried scarlet droppings blanketing some spots of the camp, leading up to a dark den in a shadowy corner. Below a large rock, a female cat sat, her silver fur shining blue in the moonlight. Her eyes shone blue, yet clouded with grief and worry as she stared up at the sky. A scar dulled by time went against her blue color scheme, dragging from the tip of her left haunches and across her back, ending right at her right. A light ‘blue’ star marked her forehead, matching with both her underbelly and spots on her eyes.
A traditional colored calico cat trotted towards the grief stricken cat, taking a place beside her. She stared up at the same patch of stars the blue cat did, before sighing. The cat spoke in a gentle and hushed tone, words filled with worry.
“Blue’star…Many warriors have been injured, and many more killed. I fear we many not make it to newleaf…Not without losing many valuable—”
“The brave warriors that fought for the clan are just warriors, and will be remembered as such. This is no time to grieve Spotted’leaf. We must focus on making sure the rest of the clan survives, and that the RiverClan cats keep their drenched paws off our territory.”
Spotted’leaf stood up with a shocked expression. She quickly hissed her response, scolding her leader for such thoughts.
“Each life here is filled with joy and wonder! The cats of ThunderClan are not ‘Just Warriors’, their lives matter! We mustn’t keep fighting so recklessly. Only the bravest and strongest warriors should be sent out Blue’star! And if they cannot take the fight, they retreat, not carry if fighting. We cannot bear to lose any more important lives.”
The blue cat sighed, dragging her gaze to the sandy ground.
“Spotted’leaf—”
“Blue’star.”
Silence fell over the two, Spotted’leaf calming herself and taking a seat. She gazed back up at the patch of stars with a hopeful expression. Her eyes shone brighter for a second, before she gasped and sprung to her paws once again. Blue’star turned to her with a concerned gaze, an eyebrow arched.
“It’s StarClan…They come with a new prophecy…”
The blue cat tilted her head, her eyes twitching with anticipation.
“When all is lost, and survival has come with an unpayable cost…A burning flame in the configuration of fur will rise to explore new lands. By then, only fire can save the clan. ”
