Work Text:
“Kill it! Kill it! Kill it!” Buck shrieked as he adjusted his footing where he was standing on the couch.
Eddie smirked at him from the kitchen where he was trying to find the spider.
“Mr. Big Tough Firefighter is afraid of spiders, huh?” Eddie asked with a laugh.
“Why aren’t you?! Spiders may be small but grenades are small too! It could jump on me!” Buck yelled, which prompted Eddie to laugh even more. “Find it, please, Eddie.”
“I’ll find it. Don’t worry, scaredy cat,” Eddie said with a smile.
“If we don’t find it, I’m setting the house on fire,” Buck said.
“No. No. No you will not. This is my house,” Eddie said quickly.
“I’d be doing you a favor,” Buck said.
“Christopher lives here too so don’t set the house on fire,” Eddie said. He knew Buck wouldn’t set the house on fire if he mentioned Christopher.
“But Eddie, it’s terrifying,” Buck whined.
Eddie rolled his eyes amusingly and went back to searching. The two of them had been enjoying a nice quiet afternoon while Chris was out at a friend’s house. And then Buck shrieked and jumped on the couch after seeing the spider.
“It’s on me!” Buck yelled before tripping over his own legs and falling off the couch. He crashed into the coffee table and rolled onto the floor. “Fuck.”
“Oh my god, are you okay?” Eddie asked as he ran over.
“Fantastic,” Buck said sarcastically before he yelled out in pain. He held his side and groaned. “I’m fine.”
“Let me see,” Eddie said. He lifted up Buck’s shirt and made an uncomfortable face when he saw the bruises.
“I’m fine,” Buck said, his eyes watering.
“It could be worse than it looks. We should get you checked out at the hospital,” Eddie said.
“Eddie-“ Buck started.
“No,” Eddie said sternly with a glare. “No buts. Listen to me. We’re going to the hospital.”
“I’m fine,” Buck said. “Please.”
Eddie groaned and gave in. He rubbed his eyes.
“If you’re worse in the morning then we’re going,” Eddie said. Buck nodded. Eddie went to say something else but got cut off by Buck yelling.
“It’s back! Kill it!” Buck yelled as he started throwing random objects at the spider across the room.
“I’m getting you ice,” Eddie said as he ignored Buck.
Buck made a pained sound and Eddie whipped his head around and ran over.
“Okay, now I think we need to go to the hospital,” Buck said, holding his side in pain. Eddie helped him up and out of the house. “Eddie, I’m sorr-“
“Don’t apologize,” Eddie said, knowing immediately what Buck was thinking.
“But our dates always get ruined or interrupted,” Buck said miserably. Eddie helped him into the truck. He quickly got to the driver’s seat and drove off.
“I don’t care if our dates get interrupted or ruined or whatever. I care about you,” Eddie said. “Although I could go without the whole…ending up in the hospital thing.”
“Maybe I could write a letter to Santa and ask him if he could make it so that I stop getting hurt all the time. And so I can stop having so many near death experiences,” Buck joked.
“Go ahead and write that letter, Buck,” Eddie said, trying to distract himself from Buck being hurt. “Wait it’s July.”
“Remember when Santa showed up in that episode of Phineas And Ferb and it was the middle of July?“ Buck asked.
“Yeah I remember,” Eddie said.
“It was his summer run. Maybe the real Santa has a summer run too. And those robot versions of Phineas and Ferb were in that episode too,” Buck said. “If there were robot versions of me, how would you react?”
“I only love you. Any creepy robot versions of you I’d destroy,” Eddie said.
“You know we’ve never kissed,” Buck said suddenly. Eddie didn’t know where this was going. “I think I’m kinda traumatized from Buck 1.0. Like I can joke about him but…I don’t wanna mess up what we have. Are you mad that we haven’t kissed yet?”
“No, not mad at all,” Eddie said sincerely as he took a sharp turn, causing Buck to groan quietly. “I promise. I will wait for a decade or more before you’re ready. If you’re ready. You don’t ever have to kiss me ever if you don’t want to. It’s okay.”
“I want to kiss you but…I’m not ready yet. You’re so nice too, and understanding and I love you and Christopher,” Buck said with a smile. He went to close his eyes but Eddie whacked him gently.
“Hey, stay awake. Come on. Talk about Phineas And Ferb or something,” Eddie said nervously as he patted Buck’s shoulder a few times. “We’re almost at the hospital.”
——
Two cracked ribs. Two. Because of a spider. Buck was thoroughly annoyed at the moment. No internal bleeding, which was good. No concussion either, despite the bruises on his face.
Falling on a wooden coffee table and then falling on the floor afterwards sucks.
The hospital wanted to keep him overnight for observation. Buck was too annoyed to care. He did finally manage to convince Eddie to go pick up Christopher from his friend’s house since Eddie didn’t leave his side at all during the whole process of being in the hospital.
Buck had drifted off asleep in the hospital room a few minutes ago before getting woken up by the door opening. He expected Eddie bringing Christopher by to see him, but it was Bobby.
“Bobby? Hey,” Buck said, his voice raspy from not drinking much water today. “What’s going on?”
“I’m your emergency contact. The hospital called me and said you got hurt,” Bobby said with a concerned expression. “What happened?”
“Two cracked ribs and bruises,” Buck said.
“Okay, but what happened?” Bobby asked. Buck didn’t exactly want to say that he thought a spider was on him - because it was in fact a string that he got startled by - and that prompted him to trip and fall onto the coffee table. So he kept quiet for a moment.
“I fell,” Buck said softly, not quite looking at Bobby. He felt bad for lying, even though it wasn’t a lie because technically it was the truth.
Bobby went to say something but got cut off by the nurse walking in. She changed the IV bag.
“I’m dehydrated apparently,” Buck said awkwardly, gesturing to the IV. “Actually, I don’t think…I didn’t drink any water today. No wonder I have a headache.”
“Where’s your boyfriend?” The nurse asked Buck with a smile. Bobby stilled. “He wouldn’t leave your side earlier, would barely leave you alone.”
“He went home,” Buck said sheepishly. The nurse smiled back before she left the room.
“I didn’t know you were dating anyone,” Bobby said carefully. The nurse shouldn’t have mentioned anything about a boyfriend with Bobby in the room, because of patient confidentiality, but he was too focused on Buck having a boyfriend to think about that.
“I didn’t wanna tell you,” Buck said quietly. He stared at the blanket on the bed.
“It’s okay,” Bobby said as he walked over. He sat in the chair next to the bed.
“You’re not mad?” Buck asked, his voice cracking.
“No. Why would I be?” Bobby asked, his voice sounding sad.
“I know Hen has a wife and kid, and you don’t have a problem with that, but…I was still…scared to tell you,” Buck said nervously.
“I’m not mad,” Bobby said seriously. “I promise. What’s he like? Is he a pain in the ass like you?”
Buck laughed quietly before he sobered up.
“He’s…” Buck said before he froze. Anything he’d say about Eddie would tell Bobby that he was dating Eddie. Him and Eddie wanted to keep it a secret from everyone for the time being. So Buck tried to say basic things but they only came out in an awkward manner. “He’s great. He’s nice…really nice.”
Bobby awkwardly sat there as Buck tried to talk. Usually Buck went into everything in explicit detail. Bobby realized that maybe he was just uncomfortable talking about him at the moment.
“Are you happy?” Bobby asked, trying to ask something else but still wanting to stay on topic.
“Right now I’m not very happy because I have two cracked ribs,” Buck said with a huff. He winced slightly. “But uh…yeah, I’m happy with- with him.”
Bobby smiled.
——
“How do you ask a glass of water how it’s doing?” Buck asked himself quietly. Eddie snorted and rubbed his eyes.
“It’s a glass of water. It’s an inanimate object and can’t exactly respond,” Eddie said.
“Water you doing?” Buck responded.
Eddie rolled his eyes when Buck smirked. They both turned to see Christopher walk in the doorway.
“Dad, I got a pet snake. What should I call him?” Christopher asked.
“A pet what?!” Eddie shrieked as he jumped off the bed.
“William Snakespeare,” Buck said in a nonchalant voice.
“Where’s the snake?” Eddie asked in a panicked voice.
“In my room on my bed,” Christopher said.
Eddie quickly bolted out of the room and stumbled into Christopher’s room. He froze and slowly grabbed the stuffed animal snake on the bed. Eddie leaned against the wall as his heart rate started to go back into double digits again.
“Buck got it for me at the zoo,” Christopher said with a smile as he walked into the room. “Do you like it?”
“Yes, yes, I love it,” Eddie said before glaring at Buck. Buck smirked from behind Christopher.
“It even looks like Buck,” Christopher said with a smile. Eddie started laughing at Buck’s offended expression.
“Perfect resemblance. They could be twins,” Eddie said sarcastically. “You, time for bed because it’s way past your bedtime.”
“But dad-“ Christopher protested.
“Nope. No. It’s already nine. Bedtime,” Eddie said.
“But you’re awake too,” Christopher said.
“Buck and I are going to bed soon too,” Eddie said as he picked up Christopher and gently put him on the bed.
“Because you’re old?” Christopher asked. Buck burst out laughing as he left the room.
“Yeah, absolutely,” Eddie drawled before covering Christopher with the blankets and getting him situated. “Goodnight. Love you.”
“Love you too, dad,” Christopher said with a smile.
Eddie kissed him on the head before he left the room. He sighed as he closed the door.
“Buck?” Eddie called out as he walked down the hallway. “If you could warn me next time you get a stuffed animal that our son will treat as a real pet, I’d appreciate it.”
“Copy that,” Buck called out from the kitchen.
“Is something burning?” Eddie asked as he looked around.
“Only my love for you,” Buck said with a smile.
“The kitchens on fire,” Eddie said in a panicked voice.
“Shit!” Buck yelped before he quickly grabbed a towel to put out the smoke. He yelled again after managing to burn his arms.
——
“I’m fine,” Buck said as Eddie patched him up.
“Oh really?” Eddie asked, the bags under Buck’s eyes already forming.
“Yes. Because I have an amazing firefighter boyfriend who happened to be a combat medic too,” Buck said with a smirk.
“Is he good looking?” Eddie asked sarcastically as he continued patching up Buck’s arms.
“Very,” Buck said.
“All done. You okay?” Eddie asked.
“Yeah. I wanted to make a snack but…clearly that’s not gonna happen tonight,” Buck said awkwardly.
“You, bed,” Eddie said as he started to clean up.
“Bossy,” Buck said.
——
Buck rubbed his eyes as he took off his shirt. He yawned. Bobby instantly froze from the doorway to the locker room.
“What happened?” Bobby asked with a worried expression. He stared at the bandages on his arms.
“Oh, nothing. No big deal,” Buck said.
Buck yawned again. Bobby touched his shoulder, causing him to violently flinch as he whipped around. Buck crashed into the lockers behind him. Bobby stilled.
“Sorry, I didn’t…I’m just tired I guess,” Buck said.
Buck groaned internally at his exhaustion. Being touched by anyone other than Eddie always made him flinch, and being tired only made that worse. He got clingy with Eddie and jumpy around everyone else. Christopher would call him old for being exhausted at 10 o’clock, despite the fact that he got sleep last night, even after the whole ‘almost burning down the kitchen’ incident.
“Hey,” Bobby said calmly, him now a few steps away from Buck. “Buck? Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Sorry, Bobby. Just sleep deprived,” Buck said as Eddie walked into the locker room.
“Christopher called me old last night for wanting to go to bed at a reasonable time,” Eddie said. Buck was thankful for the subject change.
“Well you are kinda old,” Buck said with a smirk. Eddie glared with an unamused expression.
“Bobby, Buck called me old,” Eddie complained before he took off his shirt.
You don’t look that old without a shirt on, Buck thought to himself as he put his shirt on. He left the locker room.
Bobby left the locker room to follow Buck out.
“Buck-“ Bobby started.
“I’m fine, Bobby, really. I’m okay,” Buck said.
“What happened to your arms?” Bobby asked. “You’re hurt.”
“Just a little accident. It’s okay,” Buck said. He was so tired and he didn’t want to explain that he almost burned the kitchen down last night. “I don’t wanna talk about it. Please.”
Buck glanced back at the locker room to see Eddie walking out. He looked back at Bobby.
“Please,” Buck whispered. He was so tired and didn’t have any energy to explain last night.
Bobby slowly nodded and watched as Buck went upstairs.
“What’s going on with you, kid?” Bobby whispered to himself.
Bobby tried to go over all the information he knew. Buck got hurt a few times. Once when he had two cracked ribs, and now he had bandages on his arms. He has a boyfriend who was with him at the hospital. Buck flinched when Bobby touched him. He didn’t want to talk about what had happened either time.
Bobby thought back to the boyfriend part of the equation. Buck was really uncomfortable talking about his boyfriend in the hospital. He was weirdly quiet about this whole situation. The injuries that just seemed too…off.
Was…was his boyfriend hurting him? Bobby thought to himself.
——
“I’m so tired,” Buck said as he walked into his apartment. Despite the fact that he spent most nights with Eddie, he did still have the loft.
Buck tossed his bag on the floor before walking into the kitchen. He yawned again as he grabbed a cup of water. He drank it entirely.
“My bed is calling me,” Buck said to himself.
Buck walked towards the stairs before realizing that he still had the empty cup of water. He walked back towards the kitchen and stumbled over his duffel bag, causing him to trip and fall on the ground.
He hit his head on the counter on the way down.
Buck groaned and slowly rolled over. He sat up to lean against the island. He put his hand to his head and saw blood.
“Fuck,” Buck said to himself.
He grabbed his bag and pulled out a shirt to stop the bleeding. Buck heard his phone ringing and touched the screen to answer the call.
“Hey,” Bobby said. “Just checking in on you.”
“Bobby?” Buck whispered, his voice hoarse from not getting sleep.
“Buck? Are you okay?” Bobby asked, his voice now more concerned.
Buck made a moaning sound and shook his head, which only made him feel worse.
“Please don’t be mad,” Buck whispered. He blinked his eyes to try to focus his blurry vision. “I…I got hurt. I know you don’t like it when I get hurt and it leads to us arguing and you getting upset. But please don’t be mad. I’m too tired right now. I can’t deal with us arguing right now. I get so stressed out when I’m sleep deprived and I can’t handle the arguing.”
“I’m not mad. Where are you?” Bobby asked.
“My apartment,” Buck said. He groaned when he realized that the glass cup broke. “I broke a glass. I’m hurt. I think I need help.”
“I’ll be there. You’re gonna be okay. Just stay on the phone,” Bobby said anxiously.
“Okay,” Buck said.
“Where are you hurt?” Bobby asked.
“Head, I’m bleeding,” Buck said miserably.
“Did you put pressure on the wound? Are you stopping the bleeding?” Bobby asked.
“Yeah. Used a shirt. Wait, this isn’t mine. Oh he’s gonna be so mad. He loves this shirt,” Buck said. He groaned at the thought of Eddie’s shirt that Buck stole being covered in his blood.
“It’s a shirt. It’s okay. Blood can come out. If not, we can get a new shirt. It’s okay,” Bobby said.
“You’d help me get him a new shirt?” Buck asked tiredly.
“Yeah, of course,” Bobby said nervously.
“Thanks, Bobby,” Buck said. He groaned again when he shifted on the floor. He felt nauseous. “Think I have a concussion or something. Feel nauseous. Or maybe it’s the sleep deprivation. And it just seems like so much blood.”
“You’re gonna be okay, Buck,” Bobby said. “Just keep talking.”
“Okay,” Buck mumbled, getting distracted by a bird by the window. “There’s a bird outside right now. It reminds me of Chimney.”
“Why does the bird remind you of Chimney?” Bobby asked.
“It has the same vibe as him,” Buck said. Bobby managed to laugh. “I’m so tired-“
“No. No. Absolutely not. Stay awake,” Bobby said.
“Cap, with all due respect, I’m gonna ignore everything just you said,” Buck said as his eyes started to close.
“I’m super close. Stay awake,” Bobby said over the phone.
“Okay,” Buck mumbled.
——
Buck moaned when he touched his forehead again. Bobby had insisted on him going to the hospital, and Buck was too tired to be difficult. Thankfully the scans came back fine, and the only reason he felt so tired was because he was sleep deprived.
Bobby sat next to him in the chair and stared. He couldn’t ask up front about what had happened. He couldn’t, because then Buck would get defensive and shut down. So he needed to play this differently.
“You feeling okay?” Bobby asked gently.
Buck nodded and felt dizzy. He sighed, leaned his head against the pillow and turned to look at the blanket on the gurney.
“Thank you, for helping me,” Buck said quietly. “I didn’t…I could have called for an ambulance but you had just called me and I answered and…I’m sorry.”
“Hey, don’t apologize. It’s okay,” Bobby reassured. “Any time you need me, you call. I’m serious about that.”
“Thanks, mom,” Buck said flatly. Bobby snorted and laughed.
“Anytime, daughter,” Bobby said sarcastically, causing Buck to laugh. Buck’s phone went off from the drawer where his clothes were. Bobby grabbed it and glanced at the screen.
E: Your mouth is good for some things but talking isn’t one of them.
Bobby managed to hide a flinch as Buck grabbed the phone. He looked at the screen with wide eyes before texting back. Bobby tried to breathe. Buck was currently safe at the moment, and Bobby didn’t want him going anywhere near his boyfriend.
Buck remained oblivious to Bobby’s thoughts as he texted Eddie.
Buck: HE ACTUALLY SAID THAT??
E: Yes!! I was staring at the screen frozen when he said that. Christopher didn’t watch the episode with me. And I’m glad that he didn’t hear that.
Buck: You and the telenovelas I swear.
E: ITS HOW WE PRACTICE OUR SPANISH.
Buck smirked at the screen, but Bobby was too stressed out to notice.
E: Shouldn’t you be sleeping after the 24 hour shift we just had? The only reason I’m awake is because of construction happening down the street that’s super loud.
Buck: I’m kinda…at the hospital.
Buck: IM FINE. BOBBYS WITH ME.
Buck groaned when Eddie called him. He answered and put the phone on speaker.
“Why are you in the hospital?!” Eddie asked loudly.
“I got hurt. I tripped over my bag. I’m fine,” Buck said. “Bobby’s right here and you’re on speaker.”
“Bobby, is he really okay?” Eddie asked, his voice sounding worried and sad.
“His scans came back good. No concussion. Just the cut on his head. I’m keeping an eye on him and so is the hospital,” Bobby said, internally wishing that Buck were dating someone like Eddie because then he wouldn’t be getting abused by his partner and keep on ending up in the hospital.
“I should be there but I have Christopher,” Eddie said anxiously.
“No, it’s okay. Really. Christopher is important. And you really shouldn’t be driving after not sleeping,” Buck said. “I’m okay. Bobby’s with me and he’s gonna make sure I’m okay.”
Buck went to say something but the doctor came in.
“The doctor just came in. I gotta go,” Buck said before he hung up. He put the phone off to the side. “Everything okay, doc?”
“We’re going to discharge you in a few hours, but we wanna keep an eye on you for just a bit longer. I’d advise you to stay with a friend,” the doctor said.
“He’s staying with me, whether he likes it or not,” Bobby said before Buck could protest. Buck sighed and nodded.
——
“Easy, please,” Bobby said as Buck walked into the house.
“What happened to you now?” Athena asked from the couch as she looked at his forehead.
“I tripped and hit my head on the counter. Bobby took me to the hospital,” Buck said. “My scans are all good but your husband insists on keeping an eye on me.”
Athena rubbed her temples and looked at Bobby, who seemed more stressed than normal.
“Okay, Buck. I want you to do nothing. Just sit right here on the couch and say ‘yes, Cap’,” Bobby said.
“Okay, Bobby,” Buck said as he stayed standing.
“Come on, man,” Bobby said to himself. Athena laughed quietly. He gently pushed Buck onto the couch and threw a blanket at him. “Can you just stay in here a few minutes?”
“Yeah,” Buck said. He heard his phone go off and smiled at the screen.
“Let me guess, Eddie,” Athena said, noting his smile. Buck nodded with a grin before looking back at his phone.
Athena followed Bobby into the bedroom.
“Is he really okay?” Athena asked.
“I think he’s being abused by his boyfriend,” Bobby whispered. Athena stilled.
“What makes you think that?” Athena asked quietly.
“Two cracked ribs, then bandages on his arms. Then this happens,” Bobby said anxiously. He looked at his phone where he kept a note about Buck. “His boyfriend was at the hospital when he had the two cracked ribs. He was tired when he got the bandages on his arms. He still has them now. He’s acting weirder than normal. And he got a text from someone named E today.”
“What did the text say?” Athena asked.
Bobby felt nauseous at the thought.
“Your mouth is good for some things but talking isn’t one of them,” Bobby said quietly. Athena’s eyes widened. Bobby quickly typed the note into his phone. “I’m keeping track of everything that happens. If I confront him about this, he’ll just get defensive. He got quiet about his boyfriend when I had asked. I…I need him to trust me.”
“That boy gets hurt all the time. It could just be a whole bunch of misunderstandings,” Athena said.
“But what if it’s not?” Bobby asked, his eyes watering slightly. “I’ve seen how bad domestic calls can get. You can end up in the hospital and this is the second time he’s ended up there, that I know about. He could end up worse.”
“Breathe,” Athena said. She gently placed her hand over Bobby’s heart. “He’s safe right now. Right this second, he is safe. But you’re right, he’s stubborn and if we start asking questions, he’ll get defensive and quiet. We need to do this the right way. It’ll be okay, Bobby.”
Bobby nodded. He rubbed his eyes to wipe away the tears.
“I can’t lose another kid, Athena. I can’t,” Bobby said, his voice cracking.
“I know,” Athena said quietly.
Bobby walked out of the room and saw Buck grinning at his phone on the couch. He was still wrapped in the blanket.
“Christopher says hi by the way,” Buck said, glancing up from his phone. “Eddie told him that I’m staying with you two tonight. He thinks it’s cool that I’m having a sleepover here.”
“Did you want dinner?” Bobby asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
“Are you cooking?” Buck asked with a smile.
“Yes,” Bobby said. Buck nodded as Bobby walked into the kitchen.
“Athena, you lucked out. He cooks and he’s a firefighter,” Buck whispered jokingly. Bobby tried not to laugh from the kitchen.
“I’m aware,” Athena said with a laugh. “How about you? Do you…have someone?”
“Yeah, yeah, I…I do,” Buck said hesitantly.
“You should invite them over for dinner. Bobby’s cooking will certainly entice them,” Athena said.
“Um…I just…don’t really want anyone to know about…about him,” Buck said hesitantly. “I know I tell everyone everything in a lot of details, but this is the one thing I want to keep private.”
“Okay,” Athena said with a nod. “If you ever do want to talk about him, I’m open to listening. I’ll trade you embarrassing stories about Bobby in return.”
Buck grinned.
“I might take you up on that actually,” Buck said with a laugh.
——
“Trust your instincts. As long as your instincts tell you to listen to everything Hen says,” Bobby said to Ravi, the new probie who just started. Buck snorted as he walked past Bobby to the locker room.
“Hey,” Buck said with a smirk when he saw Eddie shirtless. “You know, I really wanna kiss you.”
“What?” Chimney asked as he walked into the locker room to grab his phone that he forgot.
“I said if you died I wouldn’t miss you!” Buck yelled awkwardly. Eddie stared frozen and Chimney awkwardly left the locker room.
“Do you take constructive criticism?” Eddie asked.
“Not without crying,” Buck said quickly. Eddie laughed before he put on his shirt.
“My criticism is that was an awful response,” Eddie said with a laugh before Buck kissed Eddie.
“I thought you weren’t ready,” Eddie said seriously.
“Well I am today,” Buck said with a smirk.
Bobby stopped frozen in the doorway. Eddie and Buck quickly stepped away from each other.
“Um…Bobby-” Buck started, his voice shaking slightly.
“It’s you? You’re the boyfriend?” Bobby asked, his eyes glaring as he stepped in between Buck and Eddie.
“Yes, Cap,” Eddie said hesitantly. “Even though we said we’d keep it private.” Eddie shot a look at Buck.
“You’re the one abusing him?” Bobby asked before he quickly pinned Eddie against the lockers.
“Wait, what?” Eddie asked in a panicked voice. “What are you talking about?”
“Bobby!” Buck yelled.
“What’s going-“ Hen asked from the doorway. “Bobby-“
“Go restock the ambulance,” Bobby ordered, gritting his teeth. “Now, Hen. Take Ravi with you, and Chimney.”
“Okay,” Hen said slowly before she left the locker room.
“Bobby, what are you-“ Buck said.
“The injuries you’ve been getting. He’s the one hurting you? You’re dating him,” Bobby said to Buck.
“He’s not hurting me! I’ve been getting hurt lately because I’m clumsy,” Buck said quickly.
“The cracked ribs?” Bobby asked.
“When he fell because of a spider you mean,” Eddie said nervously.
Bobby stilled before Eddie slowly pulled out his phone from his pocket. He showed Bobby the security footage from the living room camera that Buck got him as a joke, since he got traumatized from the Hildy incident.
Bobby stepped back and stared as he watched Buck screaming about a spider and then tripping off the couch. He turned to look at Buck, his face now red with embarrassment.
“Oh and let’s not forget about almost burning down the kitchen,” Eddie said slowly as he showed another video.
Bobby stared at the phone screen in silence. He twitched when the kitchen caught fire.
“And the tripping over the duffel bag because of being sleep deprived,” Bobby said to himself, sighing and leaning against the wall. He shook his head. “Sorry, Eddie.”
“It’s okay,” Eddie said with a nod.
“Bobby? You okay?” Buck asked hesitantly, glancing at Eddie.
“Better now that I know you’re not being abused by your boyfriend,” Bobby said with a huff. “Sorry, again. I gotta tell Athena. She was right about it being a misunderstanding.”
Bobby pulled out his phone to text Athena. He froze.
“Wait, what about the text?” Bobby asked.
“What text?” Eddie asked.
“Give me your phone,” Bobby said. Buck handed over his phone after unlocking it. He went to the texts and scrolled through them. “A tv show? You were talking about a tv show?”
“Eddie’s obsessed with telenovelas!” Buck yelled.
“It’s how Chris and I practice our Spanish!” Eddie yelled back.
“Oh my head hurts because of you two,” Bobby said to himself as he rubbed his temples.
“Wait, does this mean I can bring Eddie over for dinner and get embarrassing stories about you? Because that was the deal with Athena,” Buck said quickly as Bobby left the locker room. Buck chased after him. “Bobby, that was the deal!
