Chapter Text
Kara’s rushing home because she’s late for game night. She’s flying a bit slower than normal because of some pain she has from a battle with an alien earlier that day. She knows she has some bruising, but she's already sat in the sun bed for 3 hours and is very ready to be home and see her family and Lena. Especially Lena, the best friend she happens to be hopelessly in love with. She’s pulled from her thoughts as she feels a sharp pain in her side, wincing, she thinks back to a couple hours ago when she first went after the alien…
-
5 hours prior:
The Tower alarms are blaring and everyone runs to the console room, while Briany and Lena try to pinpoint exactly where this Alien is wreaking havoc.
Kara yells asking, “What’s happening?”
Lena and Brainy both exclaim, “Alien!” at the same time causing Kara to materialize her suit, Nia to put her mask and gauntlets back on, and J’onn to change into his martian form.
J’onn walks up to Lena and Brainy, “Where is it, can you track them?”
Brainy smashes his keyboard, “Sprock”, while Lena looks up at her screen saying, “I have him Downtown outside of… Kara’s Loft?”
No one has time to question it as Kara picks up Nia and flies Downtown with J’onn following close behind. Kara and Nia land first, getting eyes on a lizard looking alien with purple eyes. Before they even move the alien says, “Kara Zor-el, I have been waiting for you.”
Before Kara can respond, the alien shoots a beam of purple light from his hands that hits Kara straight in the ribs, sending her flying back into a nearby car. Lena shoots up out of her chair, “Supergirl! Supergirl, are you ok!? Dreamer, can you see Supergirl?”
Dreamer looks back towards where she saw Kara get thrown and sees her trying to get up, “I see her, she’s moving, just hurt. She’s bleeding from her mouth, get the sunlamps ready!”
Nia refocuses on helping J’onn capture the alien. They eventually knock the alien out and Nia ties him up with dream energy, J’onn takes him back to the Tower for containment. Dreamer walks over to Supergirl and bends down trying to gauge how bad the injury is, “Supergirl. Supergirl, can you hear me? Supergirl!”
Kara groans, “Can you please stop yelling?”
Lena opens a portal for Nia and Kara to get back to the tower as Nia assists Kara through the portal. The first thing they are met with is a very angry Alex telling Nia to get Kara to the MedBay and walking away. Lena moves to help Nia carry Kara and asks, “What the hell happened out there?” Nia looks at Kara then to Lena, “I have no Idea.”
-
Present:
Kara lands in a nearby alley, deciding she did not want to try and maneuver through her loft window stacking 5 pizza boxes on top of one another. She goes into her building and takes the elevator up, already hearing Kelly telling Nia “... last time we let you shuffle I was stuck with 4 blues and 3 yellows at the start of the game, while Brainy and Alex and all the plus 4s and wild cards. No way. I'm shuffling.”
Kara shakes her head smiling, as she hears Nia’s response while walking down the hall to her door, “That is so not fair, I am a great shuffler, ask Brainy.” Kara can practically hear Nia’s glare, daring Brainy to disagree to which he actually does, “Actually you often group colors together leaving 10%... I mean yes! Nia Nal is the best shuffler we have on hand.” Kara smiles, unlocking the door.
Alex stands, walking over to Kara, “Finally I’m starving, what took you so long?”
“Hi Kara. Are you feeling any better? Thank you for going out of your way to pick up the pizza.” she says, rolling her eyes.
Alex ignores her, in favor of taking the pizza boxes and moving them onto the kitchen island. Everyone comes to get their pizza and refill on drinks, while Lena walks over to Kara pulling her to the side, “Are you ok? There’s no more pain from earlier? Do you think you need more time under the sun lamps?”
Kara holds Lena’s hand that was hovering her face, “Lee, im fine. Everything’s ok, the sunlamps did their job, it wasn’t like it was kryptonite.”
Lena shakes her head and squeezes Kara’s hand, “It made you bleed Kara. How do we know it isn’t something like it? You promise to tell me if you’re feeling sick or you’re hurting?”
Kara pulls her into a hug whispering in her ear, ”Of course. I promise you I’m all healed up.” The way Lena pulls her head a bit back to look at Kara’s face tells her she’s doing a poor job of lying so she corrects herself, “I will be fine. It's just some bruising. I’ll sit under the sun lamps for a bit longer tomorrow. Promise,” sealing her promise with a kiss to Lena’s forehead, that Kara swears Lena’s cheeks look a little pink. ‘Is she blushing? Did I do that? No, don’t be ridiculous Kara.’
Lena nods, accepting Kara at her word before Alex interrupts them, “C’mon lovebirds time to play Settlers of Catan!” Causing both Lena and Kara to roll their eyes and walk over to the group holding hands unconsciously, Lena settling on the couch with Kara perched right next to her on the arm of the couch.
-
After everyone leaves, Kara and Lena are left to clean up the mess. Kara learned a long time ago to just let Lena help because negotiating with her is like talking to a brick wall; If she wants it, she’ll get it. As they’re picking things up, Kara bends at the wrong angle and groans. Lena is instantly at her side with worry in her eyes, “Kara are you ok? Sit down, let me see.”
Kara allows Lena to sit her on the couch, but tries to stop her from lifting her shirt, “I’m fine Lee, I just bent down the wrong way. I’ll be good enough until tomorrow morning and you can poke and prod me all you want.”
Disregarding anything Kara had just said, Lena lifts Kara’s shirt revealing a very large bruise curling from her abs all the way up to right under the hem of her bra, around to her back, “Oh my god, Kara! Why didn’t you tell anyone you still had bruising-?”
“Lena-”
“You’re not meant to be able to bruise, Kar! We need to get you to the Tower-”
“Lena-” a bit louder
“-so we can see what's going on. Why didn’t you tell anyone you were still hurt!? Does it hurt when I touch it? Kara that looks like it really hurts, how didn’t-”
“LENA” She shouts.
Lena finally looks up at Kara’s face, “Lee, I’ll be fine for the night. We can go to the Tower in the morning, you’re staying the night, right? Let's just relax and watch a movie, yeah?”
“Yeah ok. Ok. What do you want to watch,” Lena sighs, trying to think of something else.
“Rom-com. Only fair after that horror movie you made me watch last night.” Shuddering as she reaches for the remote.
“Kara, Marley and Me was not a horror movie.” she sighs, rolling her eyes.
“Yes it was Lena! The dog died! How is that not Horror!?” Kara exclaims.
“It definitely was not, but ok,” she smiles as Kara puts on a rom-com about two best friends being in love with each other, while being completely oblivious to the obviously reciprocated feelings. As Kara and Lena yelled at them for being “useless lesbians” they’re completely unaware that, while they watched the women on tv cuddle up to watch a movie, they were mirroring them almost perfectly. Even down to falling asleep in each other's arms with their legs entangled.
-
First thing in the morning Lena drives them to the Tower, at Lena’s request because, “Kara, I don’t even like you flying me places at full strength, no way are you flying us injured. Get in the car.”
Kara and Lena make their way to the MedBay, finding Alex already working on something. Lena pulls Kara along scolding her, “Kara if you get your butt under those sunlamps, so help me GOD I will-”
“Whoa, trouble in paradise, little sis?” Alex interrupts, laughing.
Lena glares at Alex causing her to gulp, as Kara sits down on the sun bed, “Show her, Kar”
“Show me what,” She asks
“This.” Lena says angrily, lifting Kara’s shirt to reveal the black and blue bruising on her ribcage.
“Oh my god! Kara! Why didn’t you say something yesterday!” Alex chastises Kara while grabbing a pair of gloves and turning on the yellow sunlamps. “You should’ve said something. What if you have internal injuries that haven’t healed?”
“Alex please I’m fine, it's just a bruise,” she responds exasperated.
“Kara you’re not meant to bruise under a yellow sun! Your cells convert the radiation making you virtually indestructible here! Kryptonians don’t bruise under a yellow sun unless they blow out their powers! You should’ve said something yesterday,” Lena yells, storming out of the room to go find Brainy.
“Well… you’re definitely in the doghouse,” Alex jokes.
“Shut up Alex,” Kara grumbles, laying down on the bed to get checked out.
“She’s not wrong though, you shouldn’t be able to bruise and you should’ve let us know you still had bruising,” she says in a softer tone.
“I know, Al, I know,” Kara sighs.
“So…” Alex starts.
“So… what,” she asks, confused.
“Are you really going to make me ask Kar,” she questions.
“Alex, what are you talking about?” Kara asks, furring her eyebrows.
“Ok we’re doing this the hard way” Alex muttered under her breath before speaking louder, “So are you going to ask her out, Kar?” Eyes rolling in exasperation.
“Wha-... why-... why would-... whaaaaaat? Me and- … Me and Lena- … what are you even-... I don’t even-” She tries before giving up and lets out a heavy sigh. Putting her head in her hands, Kara mumbles, “Am I really that obvious?”
Alex laughs loudly, “To everyone, but Lena, so you’re good. However, you two have been a lot closer since my wedding…”
Kara sighs, “Alex she doesn’t like me that way, we’re best friends, nothing more. Just friends.”
Alex looks her sister over, before rolling her chair closer to the bed. She sees the storm of emotion in Kara's eyes, “Kara,” Alex starts, laying her hand on her sister’s knee, “she likes you exactly like that, ok? Trust me, no one goes on lunch dates every single day, and has movie night sleepovers regularly with someone they don’t like in that way. Tell her how you feel, and I guarantee she’ll say she feels the same.”
Before Kara can respond Brainy and Nia run into the MedBay, “Kara we need you upstairs, there is a breach opening in the control room,” Brainy says before Nia steps up asking, “Is everything ok here? We can handle it if you can’t.”
Kara stands up telling Nia, “I’m good. I can help.” Turning to Brainy she starts walking out of the room continuing, “Have you pinpointed where the breach is from?”
Brainy looks up from the tablet saying, “It’s not where, it’s when.”
Kara looks at him confused as they reach the breach, “What do you mean ‘when,’ Brainy?” Before Brainy can answer, two girls fall out of the portal with an ‘oomph.’ They have raven-hair and bright blue eyes that are staring at Kara with fear, but not fear like she could hurt them. No, fear like she’s about to ground them for the rest of their life, and to their credit, maybe she will.

Future 2045 - Lex Luthor:
“Give it up Lex! You won’t get away with this!” Shouts Green Lantern.
“Oh, but you see, I think I will.” Lex says, as he shoots a green beam that leaves a hole in the Green Lantern’s chest, killing him instantly.
“No!” The Green Arrow fires his EMP arrows, trying to disable the upgraded Lexosuit.
“Tsk tsk tsk, child's play. Arrows? Really? You think because you put on a green hood and go by a stupid name, you can what? Stop me? HA! I LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY,” Lex yells as he flies, picking the Green Arrow up and dropping him from 2,000 feet in the air, “Aww such a shame. Vigilantes, all bark no bite.” He laughs as he flies back down to the ground now littered with superhero corpses.
Batman, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, The Black Canary, Kid Flash, Killer Frost, Batwoman, Firestorm, The Atom, and so many more, and don’t forget the new additions of the Green Arrow and Green Lantern. What is it with these stupid heroes and their colors? Except Lex isn’t happy with this turn out. No, he didn’t turn the sky red and turn National City to rubble for some low level, mediocre heroes who only protect their cities. No, he did this for the two that ‘protect’ the world. He wants the wonder twins. The Supers. Ugh, they disgust him. They want the world to believe that they’re here for their ‘protection’? No, they’re here to take over the planet and it’s up to Lex to stop these heroes before they help those supers take over the world. The age of heroes will come to an end.
Lex is pulled out of his villain inner monologue when a bright yellow sun bomb goes off and he sees Superman and his sons. Well, maybe he might get his wish of adding a super or two to his collection after all. Before Lex can really register what he’s seeing, Superman speeds out of sight, followed by his sons going in the opposite directions. ‘Oh so they want to play? Let’s play.’ Lex thinks, grinning like the madman he is. Lex decides he’ll go after Superman first because if he can get him, he’ll find Supergirl, he wants to kill her in front of her wife.
He wants to kill Supergirl in front of her wife, his traitor of a little sister. “How can she be with a Super?” He spits the word out with venom, “Traitor to the Luthor name and traitor to humanity.” Lex takes the rest of his rant inward, ‘If marrying a Super wasn’t enough, she had to go and make a family of half-breed roaches. She disgusts me. Don’t even get me started on what she did to herself making those half-breeds. Turning herself into a-’ Again Lex’s inner thoughts were cut off as he finally catches up with Superman. ‘Oh this was going to be good.’ Lex thought, bringing out his Kryptonite cannons and firing at the Man of Steel. “YOU CAN’T HIDE HER FOREVER CLARK,” Lex shouts.
