This is actually an interesting one. For some reason the Regent had to be alive for them to have this conversation?? Not sure I agree but it’s well written and pretty important subject matter. Plus I love anything post-KR.
I will say that a lot of these explicit conversations that deal with trauma are good, but I don’t feel they’re lacking in the actual books. Perhaps because Damen and Laurent are sometimes ‘show and not tell’ kind of people. I also wonder if two men simply haven’t practiced the emotional vocabulary to outline trauma that feels vulnerable and emasculating. They have to figure out how to hold each other’s trauma, and honestly I think canonically that’s more of a nonverbal thing. However this fic was nice because it was explicitly outlined.
ALSO the line about sharing abed with ghosts?? Crazy
