Work Text:
Grabbing his phone, Pisaeng tries not to yawn as he answers, “Hello?”
“Is Kawi there,” Max demands.
Sitting up, he peers over at Kawi’s desk, originally his, but Kawi makes more use of it than he does, and earphones on, Kawi is working on his laptop. “Yes.”
Before he can ask if Kawi’s earphones didn’t pick up the call again, Max declares, “I am going to kill your boyfriend. I hope you don’t take that personally.”
“I’m getting him new earphones soon. These are just-”
“He tricked me into going on a date!”
“Huh?”
“Marcus, that new musician he’s working with, he told me that the three of us were having a business meeting. Two hours in, and we, or I, realised us being at this fancy restaurant without him, and him making me swear I’d wear my best suit instead of one of my normal business ones, meant- And I’m pretty sure he has me blocked.”
“Put him in on the phone right now, Pisaeng.”
“Do you want me to make sure he doesn’t invade your condo in the morning? I can send a food delivery if you don’t have everything you need to make a good breakfast for-”
“Were you in on this?”
“No,” he answers. “And honestly, I’m a little hurt my boyfriend didn’t include me.”
Max gives a very exasperated sigh. “What makes you think I’d invite Marcus over after Kawi pulled this?”
“Well, two hours, and you weren’t complaining it was a bad date when you first called.”
This sigh is a little more subdued. “Yeah, keep him from coming over in the morning. I’m still killing him the next time I see him.”
“It’d be nice if this works out,” he offers. “Marcus seems like a nice guy.”
“He’s a great guy,” Max quietly says. “But dating people in the industry, I know from experience it’s a bad idea.”
“It can be, sure,” he agrees. “There are stories of it working out really well for some people, though. Maybe, you and Marcus could be one of those stories.”
“I better get back to my date. That he and I were both tricked into. Goodnight, Pisaeng.”
“Night, Max.”
They hang up, and going over to the desk, he wraps around Kawi.
“Hey, did I wake you? I tried to make sure the earphones stayed connected, but-”
“No. Or kind of, but not because of your work. Max just called.”
“Hm.” Kawi tilts his head to look up. “Is he going to be invading our house soon?”
“No. He’s probably having Marcus over for the night. You better not go over in the morning.”
Kawi nods. “Marcus is vegetarian; I made sure Max has plenty of stuff in his condo to make vegan banana-blueberry pancakes and a spinach omelette.”
“Come to bed,” he insists.
“Alright, give me ten minutes.”
Nodding, he goes back to bed, and when Kawi joins him, wrapping around Kawi, he asks, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because, if Max was mad at both of us, he might’ve been too focused on the anger and decided to come over here instead of taking Marcus home.”
It still hurts a little, but- “Maybe.”
“I’m sorry, Pisaeng. I just want Max to actually find someone instead of complaining all the time about how he’ll die alone.”
“Yeah. I want that for him, too.”
Smiling, Kawi pulls him over for a kiss.
When it breaks, he gets properly wrapped around Kawi, and feeling Kawi falling asleep, he follows.
