He Xuan bangs her fist on the redwood door, the small window rattling with the force. She hopes the stupid expensive thing breaks. He Xuan pauses for a moment trying to hear if footsteps are coming before continuing her mission of knocking down the door.
She is about to lift her fist again when the door is suddenly pulled open. Not waiting for a moment, He Xuan marches into the house.
“Sure, come in. Make yourself at home, why don’t you”, Hua Cheng says in a sarcastic voice, closing the door and following her into the kitchen.
He Xuan starts digging in the fridge before pulling out a tupperware container. Opening it, He Xuan looks inside before gagging and shutting the lid.
“What the hell is that?” she says coughing.
Hua Cheng takes the container carefully as if it's made out of gold, gently placing it back into the fridge.
“Gege made me some cookies”.
“Those were cookies?!?” He Xuan exclaims.
Hua Cheng glares at her. “Why are you here?”
He Xuan opens the cabinets and starts looking for prepackaged food, before settling on an unopened bag of chips.
“I need to ask you something”. She trails off, taking handfuls of chips and chewing them quickly.
“Let me guess, it's about Shi Qingxuan”, Hua Cheng says with an eye roll.
He Xuan mutters under her breath, “Know it all”.
“Yes I have eyes and ears everywhere”.
It's He Xuan’s turn to roll her eyes. “No, Xie Lian just can’t keep a secret from you and tells you all the stuff Shi Qingxuan tells him. Just like after this conversation you’re probably going to call Xie Lian and tell him what I said”.
Hua Cheng crosses his arms and leans against the counter opposite to He Xuan.
“Are you going to tell me what's up with you and Shi Qingxuan, or are you just going to keep on being an idiot and deflecting”.
In response the dark haired woman just shakes the bag of chips while peering into it before pouring the leftover crumbs into her mouth. Around the mouthful she says, “I think Shi Qingxuan is using magic on me?”
“Magic?” Hua Cheng questions in a disbelieving voice.
“Yes, she started getting into crystals and keeps on putting them all over my apartment, telling me they have different meanings. I think she used a couple to make me feel like this”, He Xuan says motioning down to herself.
“To make you feel….” The man trails off, probing for more information.
“All nervous and sweaty. Now whenever she texts me my heart races. And whenever we hang out I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack. Plus my hands have been getting clammy and sweaty whenever she tries to hold them. I don’t think Shi Qingxuan would try to kill me on purpose, but it's totally possible that she bought the wrong crystal online and it's inadvertently killing me”.
He Xuan’s explanation is cut off by Hua Cheng throwing his head back and laughing hard. He continues to laugh even when He Xuan glares at him.
“What’s so funny?”, He Xuan grunts out.
“Shi Qingxuan isn’t using magic to make you feel this way”, Hua Cheng says, his laughter finally came to an end.
He Xuan just gives him a puzzled look. “What do you mean?”
Hua Cheng gives her a smirk. “Listen, it's getting a little annoying that Shi Qingxuan keeps on calling during gege and I’s date night asking for advice. So I’ll help you out-”. Before he can continue, He Xuan interrupts him, “Why would Shi Qingxuan go to Xie Lian when she has me?”
“What's the reason you are coming to me instead of Shi Qingxuan?”
“Are you stupid, it's because it's about Shi Qingxuan - oh”, He Xuan says in a bewildered voice. “Why would she ask Xie Lian for advice about me?”
Hua Cheng sighs and gives her a put out expression. “I’ll tell you this, Shi Qingxuan thought that you liked crystals and rocks so she started doing research with Xie Lian on the best ones to get you”.
He Xuan looks even more confused. “I told her that I collected fossils, crystals and fossils are not the same thing”.
Hua Cheng waves his hand dismissively. “Eh, both are rock related. Anyway Shi Qingxuan is not using crystal magic on you. You are having ‘heart problems’ ”, he says using finger quotes, “because you like her”.
He Xuan forcefully blinks. Pauses for a moment, and blinks again.
“I need to go right now”, she mutters out, already turning and rushing to the door.
Hua Cheng shakes his head as he hears the door slam. “All she does is eat my food and not even say thank you”.
Later that night when Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are cuddling on the couch watching a movie, Xie Lain gets a text from Shi Qingxuan.
OMG omg omg omg you won’t believe it!!! He Xuan asked me to be her girlfriend!!!!!!
She also gave me this super big rock that's apparently millions of years old that has leaf imprints on it. I'm not really sure where to put it but He Xuan was really happy that I liked it!!
Anyway, enjoy your date night! And let's set up a double date soon <3<3<3
