In which Vulcan sends Spock to 1960's Iowa to find out if humanity is ready for first contact. There, he gets a job at a ranch, meets James Kirk and falls in love with him. Knowing that his time on Earth is limited and having reservations about being with a human, Spock battles against his own desires.

A cowboy AU. Featuring AU versions of TOS characters, forced proximity and admittedly pretty bad science.
Based on the incredible illustration by tchabretz, which I took and went absolutely hog wild with. I really hope you like this.
Thank you also to @yaoibattlepass (Tumblr) as always, and may he forgive me for my last-minute crunching antics. I couldn't have done this without you, my friend.Lastly, some non-spoilerific content notes:
1. "Ambiguous Ending" applies to the overall plot of the fic. For K/S it's very much a happy ending, don't worry! There is just...other stuff going on.
2. I do not claim historical accuracy. Do not use this fic as educational material or a manual on how to run a cattle farm.
3. Please mind the tags.
(See the end of the work for more notes.)
