Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

Everyone knows Richie’s home life isn’t the best. His mother is too depressed to do anything and his father simply doesn’t care. He is always to busy cheating on Maggie. Maggie still try’s to take care of Richie but she isn’t a great mom.

Because of this he is able to get away with almost anything. He likes to use this to his advantage. He acts out in school and gets into fights constantly. He just generally lacks respect for anyone outside of the losers club. All his friends try to stop him from getting into trouble but aren’t very successful. Despite all this they love Richie.

After defeating Pennywise they thought there would be no more tragedy. Sadly that was not the case.

shortly after Richie’s parents got taken away from him for child neglect. Cps told him he was going to have to live with a new family because his current parents were deemed unfit to care for him.

He’s tried desperately to stay with the losers but he still has to move. He’s moving  out of derry.

he has to go live with his aunt and her husband. He didn’t even know he had an aunt! And apparently they have two daughters, one younger than him and one older. He is going to have to live with a bunch of girls! He doesn’t hate girls but he doesn’t now what it’s like to live with them. His mom was almost never out of her room and Beverly’s dad didn’t let her go to any sleep overs with them.

he Heard girls take up a lot of space. God, he hopes that’s not true. Richie loves his space. It’s probably because he is used to having the whole house but him parents room to himself.

he made sure to weight down all his friends phone numbers just incase he somehow forgot (he could never forget). He plans to call Stan once he gets to his new house. Stan’s his best friend, he needs to know what it’s like wherever Richie is going. He never bothered to ask.

Chapter 2: the move

Summary:

Richie's trip to Indiana and meeting his aunt for the first time.

Notes:

sorry for not posting in forever, the depression hit bad again and I had to bed rot for a while.

Chapter Text

Richie's suitcase is packed full of his clothes and possessions. he made sure to keep the gifts from his friends in a different bag in fear they would get ruined. they gave him a bunch of stuff when they found out he had to move and then even more when they figured out why. his suitcase is sitting in the car where he is supposed to be. the social worker is meant to take him to the airport has been sitting in the drivers seat, waiting for Richie for about 10 minutes and was losing her patience. he refuses to leave his room no matter what. this morning is when it really sunk in that hell never get to see the losers again, sure he'll get to call them but it isn't the same. he's been sitting in his room, listing to a mixtape that Stan made him all day. its his favorite mixtape just because it's from Stan. he's so desperate that he even considered living in the clubhouse, but when he told Eddie, he of course being Eddie made a big deal about how disgusting that his and how many diseases he could catch being down there for so long. Richie doesn't even think half of those diseases are real. bottom line, Eddie would rat him out.

he heard the social worker, Lilly? or something, honking. he doesn't care. he'll stay for as long as possible. he honestly finds her annoying. he finds everyone annoying. they all treat him like some fragile child. not the losers though. he loves them. he loves them so much that he already misses them. wait, how long has he even been in bed? long enough to annoy maybe lily into coming in. can she even do that? its not her house. its technically not his either anymore. Richie doesn't have much time to think about it because next thing he knows he's being dragged out to the car. he makes sure to quickly grab his backpack though. he cant imagine going without the things the losers gave him.

...

its such a long ride that it gives Richie enough time to consider jumping out of the car into ongoing traffic. he wonders how people would react to the situation. would his parents even care? dying would be better then moving anyway but he decides against it. all f the sudden he's being woken up. when did he fall asleep? they're at the airport already? he doesn't even understand why he needs to take a plane there, it would probably be way easier for them to put him on a train or something. he doesn't know much about trains so he could be wrong.

Richie is lead through security and into the waiting area for the plane and is told his aunt Karen is going to pick him up when the plane lands. as he waits he looks through a bunch of photos of him and the losers. he cant believe he's leaving them. Richie always assumed they would leave him because he was too annoying 'don't cry Richie. you're in public.' he thinks to himself. he has to repeat it a few times for it to actually work. during the plane ride to Indiana Richie just stares out the window and listens to his new favorite mixtape. he lets his mind wonder and starts thinking about Eddie. he's probably ranting to bill and mike about how unsanitary mikes farm is, since its Saturday and they usually go there on Saturdays. Richie doesn't understand why Eddie still goes there all the time if he hates it so much. either way they all probably don't miss him. its fine though, he wouldn't miss him either. he still doesn't want to go though. he dreads the moment the plane lands.

he has to make his way though way to many people and then find aunt Karen. he doesn't even know what she looks like. maybe she'll find him then. dose she even know what he looks like? probably not since they never met. he hopes she doesn't, then he can escape back to Derry. now that he thinks about it he didn't really fight much to stay. maybe he was just in to much shock. despite how much he hates that shitty town his friends are still there. he's thoughts happen to be cut short the second he sees his a women holding a sign with his name, so he can find her. he doesn't know why but something about that is just so embarrassing. he walks up to her hesitantly and instantly regrets it. he should have snuck back home. as soon as they make eye contact he can she the excitement all over her face.

"hello Richie," she greats with a wide yet sympathetic smile. "I'm your aunt Karen." "hi," he replies plainly. he usually talks a lot more but cant will himself to say anything more. he wants to go back home. home is where his friends are. home is where he doesn't feel like shit. home is where he can get away with anything. home is where his mom is. Richie doesn't care that he was the one taking care of her, he just wants his mom back.

Chapter Text

Karen is nice. that's what Richie thought on the drive to his new forever home. not home, house. the losers are his home. anyway, she told him that he was starting school in a month so he'll have time to adjust first. what is he even supposed to do for a whole month? plus he doesn't even want to adjust, he wants to go back home. He remembers seeing the 'welcome to Hawkins' sign that looks s much like the 'welcome to Derry' sign. he hats that stupid sign because it just rubs in his face how he'll never get to go back home. when they make it to the house he gets led to his new room and if let to take it all in. he is currently siting on his new bed. if he's being honest its really nice. there's no messes in the whole house either. usually he has to take care of the house himself and he never put much work into it. so there were messes and big piles of garbage everywhere. he never minded it though. this place looks empty without it. he doesn't have to keep this room clean. it would feel more like home if he didn't. he decides to look over at the clock on the wall.

    oh.

    its 4am.

its fine. he can sleep tomorrow. its not like he has anything going on anyway. hopefully his new 'family' will understand. he wonders what his new sisters will be like. he hopes they're nice since he has to spend the whole day with them tomorrow, thechnecly today. cant it be night time forever? everything's just been getting worse. he had no time to call his friends during the day (he did, he just zoned out for too long) and he cant now or he'll risk waking someone up. he cant do that on his first day.

the worst part about all of this though is the fact that his new 'parents' want him to change his name, and those motherfuckers said they'd choose if he didn't by the morning. why are they' already tryng to erase derry? he should probably start thinking of a name now. he cant really think of any names other then his friends names. he could barrow one of their names ,they probably wouldn't be offended. they might be honored. they would definitely be honored. he's never going to hear the end of it.

he cant choose bev, thats a girls name. not eddie. he dosent know wh but thats just weired. plus thats a lame ass name. mike. he can go by mike. thats a nice name. hopfully mike it okay with that. he not going to ask as that would be embaresing as fuck. richie looks out the window just to realize the sun had already rizen. did he siriously stay up all night? he looks back at the clock. 7:32. "arree you kidding me?" he mumbles under his breath. now that he thinks about it, he can hear people walking around.

Notes:

three things:

-sorry for the late post

- I got the idea of how he chooses his new name from another fic but a cant remember which one.

Chapter 4: Home sweet home pt. 2

Summary:

Mike meets Nancy

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Richie flinches when he hears a knock on the door. Why would whoever it is knock? No one ever knocks on his door, they all just barge in. What is he supposed to say? “Hi?” I says, sounding unsure of himself.

“Did you choose a name yet?” His aunt asks, opening the door. Why is she acting like she didn’t pry him away from his home and bring him to some shitty town called Hawkins IN INDIANA.

“Yep!” Richie responds acting happy go lucky, as if he hadn’t stayed up all night. That’s what he always does anyway; pretend he’s okay and make a bunch of jokes. It’s what he’s used to. There’s only two people he’s ever opened up to and that would be Stan and Eddie (both times not by choice). Although he got close to telling Ben once. He hates that about Ben, He’s so nice he can get Richie to say just about anything. “Well what did you pick?” Karen asks.

Oh. He forgot she was there. “Mike,” I mumbled in response, hating the thought of being called anything but him name and ‘trashmouth’.

He can see by the blonds face that she doesn’t think he put any thought into the name, which would be stupid because he’s going to have to go by that name until he gets away from this town.

He can’t blame her, ‘Mike’ is almost as basic as ‘bill’ (he means 0% offence by that). It probably seems like he just picked the first name that came to his mind.

If he did that he’d be stuck with the name Beverly. He would be stuck with a girls name and made fun of constantly. Either way he needs to defend his choice. “I like the name Mike,” he adds on.

A small smile makes its way onto Karen’s face as she says, “it suits you. Now why don’t you come downstairs for breakfast? Your sisters are waiting to meet you.” That confuses him. He doesn’t have sisters. He has cousins but no siblings.

He follows her downstairs after responding to her saying, “I don’t have sisters.” He’s glad she didn’t say anymore, he is too tired for this.at the bitten of the staircase Richie can see the most domestic scene he has ever witnessed.

His supposed ‘sisters’ are sitting at the kitchen table. One of them looks like she’s in high school and the other is a baby. Well not a baby, but she’s tiny and cute. there’s a man that he can only assume is his uncle sitting on the other side of the table. There are to empty seats to the right of him.

All of their plates has pancakes eggs and bacon on them. Why are they allowed so much food? Aren’t the parents the only ones supposed to have that privilege?

Karen comes up from behind him and quickly gathers everyone’s attention. “Everyone this is Mike, the new member to own family,” she introduces. He flinches as he gats called that. His name is Richie, not Mike.

The teen stands up, and walks up to him. Wow. She is surprisingly tall. “Hello Mike. I’m Nancy,” she says holding her hand out for a handshake. “Hi,” Richie responds, ignoring her hand. He hates that he can’t think of anything more to say. He’s usually constantly joking around. What is wrong with him?

Usually at this point he’d be ranting on about whatever his new interest is. It changes almost every week. Now that he thinks about it that’s probably why he’s so quiet. He doesn’t have a new interest. He got over guitar right before he was taken away.

It’s not like Richie doesn’t like guitar, he just constantly needs something new so he doesn’t get bored. It doesn’t matter anyway, there’s no need to talk. People will like him better this way. He is annoying after all. Plus talking won’t help him. It won’t take him back home.

He gets led to the table by Karen and sits down. He doesn’t feel hungry, although it would be rude to refuse to eat. Since when has Richie cared about being rude? His friends have been rubbing off on him too much.

Notes:

He does not and up eating breakfast.

Chapter 5: I'm a new man

Chapter Text

rich- mike has been sitting in the backseat of the car for about ten minuets. his aunt Karen is driving him to buy a new bike. he misses his old one, and he probably always will. it has so many memories attached to it. there's nothing to do about it though. due to the wealth his aunt and uncle have Richie's able to get a better quality bike. he knows they don't actually care about him having a bike but need to get him one for when he goes to school. apparently they always stop driving their kids to school once they deem them old enough. at least his mom would be up to driving him sometimes. he missis her.

the first week has been hell. it's relieving that Richie is finally having a good day. aunt Karen even said they'd go out to eat ice cream on her. usually he'd have to mow lands or steal his parents money to pay for things, but she's offering. r- mike doesn't know how to feel about that. it's nice to a suspicions level. she just met him, why is he buying him ice cream? he wont ask though because he doesn't want to loose this opportunity.

once they pull up to the driveway mike jumps out of the car. he sees his aunt is a little annoyed and definitely not used to having a hyperactive son. he can barley contain his excitement as they step into the store. "pick whatever one you want," his aunt says. seeing all these cool bikes to choose from is amazing! usually he needs to pick the cheapest option for anything.

once he picks it out Karen helps put it into the trunk to ride home. its surprising she doesn't make him get back to the house himself with how unhappy she is with him. again, he wont say anything just in case. Richie- or mike, he doesn't know what to go by anymore. it's really confusing. he is a little nervous as schools next week. it is the middle of the school year but he was given two weeks to settle in before going. its not like it can be any worse then school in Derry. now he's not in Derry anymore. that place has moved on without him and theirs nothing he can do. so what if he talks to his friends everyday? he cant see them, he cant go to the arcade with them, he cant jump of the quarry with them. they're all doing those things without him. he hates social services.

the second they're "home" Richie is begging to be able to ride the bike around town, but apparently dinner is more important or something. it makes no since, he's gone days without eating before. at least with an abusive father he could still have freedom. also SHE SAID SHE'S MAKING FUCKING MEATLOAF! Richie is seriously contemplating running away. he doubts anyone actually likes meatloaf anyway. he's kind of like meatloaf in a sense. nobody likes him, not even his own parents. maybe he should just become mike. (totally not projecting onto my favorite character)

mike begrudgingly walks in the front door. he sees uncle ted in the same position on the same chair that he's been in since this morning. at this point it's questionable if that man can walk. it reminds him of how his mom would always stay in bed for months at a time. at least he knows ted wont hit him, since he's to lazy to stand up. mike decides to go up to his new room to wait. he gets so bored with nothing to do he ends u reading the first book he sees. sadly it's a since book. surprisingly it's interesting. Richie had never paid attention in class so he never knew how interesting this topic is. before he knows it Karen is calling him down for dinner.

they all ate in awkward silence for a bit until ted finally askes Nancy about school. the topic doesn't annoy mike as he is thinking about all the stuff he learned from that book. are all subjects this fascinating? now he wants to find more since books.

two week in this house and he already can't recognize himself.

   fuck this
