So Long in the Making

Summary:

During the raucous celebrations of Ninian’s rescue Florina anxiously slips away from the others, hoping to finally be able to relax.

Lyndis follows her, and gives Florina more than she had ever dared hope for.

Notes:

So, I’ve somehow never written the ORIGINAL Fire Emblem wlw pairing (at least for us westerners), I’m definitely making up for lost time by finally doing my due diligence and bringing Florilyn content to the table.

For such an influential and classic ship I kinda wanted to wait for something big to strike as far as inspiration was concerned, or even just a special occasion to celebrate.

A special occasion did find me though, and this fic is an extra special graduation gift for a friend of mine. 🖤

I hope you all enjoy this t4t Florilyn food, and congratulations on graduating!

Chapter Text

Florina sighed as she combed her fingers through Huey’s mane, feeling her mounting worries begin to fade away as she worked at his stark-white fur.

Most Pegasi had at least some coloration, but her Huey was special. In more ways than one actually, because of his own similarities to Florina.

Pegasi tended to be fickle creatures, picky about all things, rider included. After being told Huey was a mare Florina had initially chosen a more feminine name, but Huey hadn’t liked it at all.

Eventually she had tried listing off names until she found one that he liked, and low and behold it had been Huey, Florina liked it too though, and so the name had stuck.

It was the least she could do, both out of genuine kindness and compassion towards her steed, but also to return the favor of acceptance Huey had granted her.

They both understood one another, and that included their identities.

Huey also understood Florina’s… more reserved nature, and she was often thankful for his enabling of it.

Tonight was supposed to have been one for celebration, and while it still very much was Florina had found herself hesitant to actively take part.

She trusted her compatriots of course, even if Sain was… well, Sain, but she had never been one for larger gatherings, much less celebrations.

Florina much preferred spending time with her other variety of companion, the animals that worked alongside them tirelessly.

They deserved her care and affection, Huey most of all for his bravery, as well as for keeping her safe.

Florina was sure to give the other mounts ample attention as well, but at times like this attending to Huey was what she found most relaxing.

She tensed at the sound of approaching footsteps, freezing as her hand tightened just a bit around Huey’s mane.

Not enough to hurt, she would never handle him that roughly, but she was holding onto it outright with her shaking hand.

Florina slowly looked over her shoulder, her heart racing, before sighing at the sight of Lyndis.

Lyndis… Florina’s oldest and closest friend, as well as her knight in shining armor.

To say Florina had always had something of a crush on her would be an understatement, but now she could only describe herself as outright smitten.

Lyndis had grown so capable in the time since their last meeting, so strong, and she had arrived just in time to swoop Florina off of her feet and save her and Huey from those awful bandits.

“Knew I would find you here.” Lyndis said warmly, flashing Florina a gentle smile.

“Oh… well you do know me best.” Florina murmured, struggling not to swoon.

She was normally better able to express herself around Lyndis, though not when her thoughts had decided to… wander.

Still though, Florina could recover from this.

“Was it too much for you as well?” She asked softly, only now remembering to release Huey’s mane.

“No, it just… wasn’t the same without you there.” Lyndis murmured, her cheeks slightly flushed.

Had she been drinking?

The celebration…

“I’m sorry.” Florina whispered off of instinct, before flinching as Lyndis chuckled.

“Don’t be, you’re just better company is all.” Lyndis said lightly, stepping closer. “Eliwood was the one who saved Ninian, this celebration is for him. Were it not, I probably wouldn’t have been able to slip away.”

Had Lyndis been the main event, with all the company’s eyes on her…

Florina’s stomach shifted at the thought, an odd feeling that worked its way up to her chest.

Was this… jealousy?

“I’m glad you were able to slip away.” Florina admitted, before sighing as Huey wandered off the join the horses.

Either he was bored out of his mind or trying to be Florina’s wingman, spurring the two of them on by giving them privacy.

With him it was honestly impossible to tell sometimes.

“As am I. Nights like this remind me of Sacae, the clear skies above me and grassy plain beneath my feet. It’s nice… after Araphen.” Lyndis sighed as she sat down.

Araphen, the foul Marquess of territory had treated Lyndis so poorly, if only Florina had been able to speak up then…

It would have been nice… to be able to protect Lyndis for a change.

“I’m glad to have left that place.” She murmured, moving to sit beside Lyndis in the grass.

“We wouldn’t have, if not for you.” Lyndis said softly, placing her hand atop Florina’s.

“It was… mostly Rath.” Florina squeaked, feeling herself begin to blush.

“He did save my life, but you did so twice in that battle alone. I’m here with you now because of you Florina.” Lyndis chuckled, tilting your head back. “Don’t undersell your exploits, or your talents. I owe you my life multiple times over.”

Florina briefly froze, struggling to take Lyndis’ words at base value.

“I owe you mine as well, Lyndis.” She exhaled, glancing at her.

Lyndis looked beautiful in the moonlight, and so at peace as she basked in the gentle breeze.

Her eyes were closed, and Florina swallowed as her lips parted.

“I think you’ve saved me more.” She chuckled, opening her eyes to smile at Florina. “Certainly enough times to call me Lyn.”

Call her… Lyn?

Florina was stunned, it shouldn’t have been such a shock to her system and yet it was.

Her heart skipped a beat as her bottom lip quivered, slowly splitting apart from the top to allow her to say it aloud.

But then, in that moment, Lyndis reached out to cup Florina’s cheek, and she froze.

“You’re blushing.” Lyndis murmured, gently tracing Florina’s cheekbone with her thumb.

Her voice was… deeper than she remembered.

Lyndis’ hand shifted, her thumb moving down to brush over Florina’s lips.

Florina remained frozen, even as Lyndis leaned in to press their lips together.

Her heart skipped yet another beat, and then another, Florina’s pulse skyrocketing as though that gentle brushing of lips were actually robbing the very air from her lungs.

Her… this was her first kiss, and it was with Lyn!

Wait, Florina had…

The thought evaporated as Lyn slowly guided her to lean back against the grass, perhaps having sensed Florina’s lightheadedness.

She moved to straddle her without breaking the kiss, still holding Florina’s cheek.

Lyn exhaled through her mouth as she finally pulled back, panting a bit as she stared down at Florina.

Her breath smelled of alcohol.

Was… that was this was? Why it had happened?

“Have you been drinking?” Florina squeaked, going rigid as she felt her cheeks heat beyond what should have been possible.

Her lips… they felt so tingly, so warm. Lyn’s lips had been so warm.

“I did have a bit, but that wasn’t why I kissed you.” Lyn whispered, her cheeks looking as flushed as Florina’s felt. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long.”

She… she had?

“Me… too…” Florina whimpered, shocked. “Lyn…”

Lyn’s eyes widened, and her blush deepened slightly.

Florina felt tears begin to prick at the corners of her eyes as she was suddenly overcome with joy, and felt herself swoon as Lyn gently brushed them away.

“I love you.” She whispered, and Lyn briefly froze.

“And I love you Florina, I always have.” She murmured, recovering quickly.

She slowly leaned back in, cupping Florina’s other cheek as well.

Florina’s arms wrapped around Lyn as they resumed their kiss, embracing her.

Though as Lyn’s tongue slipped into Florina’s mouth and her body began to respond, she was suddenly and intimately aware of Lyn’s position on her lap.

Florina… she…

Lyn gasped into Florina’s mouth, obviously having felt her… her… erection, but then she did the unthinkable.

She shifted to roll her hips, grinding against it.

Florina moaned into her mouth, holding onto Lyn’s Sacaen raiments as a sharp wave of pleasure slammed against her.

Lyn repeated the motion, forcing her tongue deeper as Florina moaned before doing it again. Her hands on her cheeks shifting to card through her hair, holding her head outright.

Florina’s lungs burned by the time Lyn finally pulled back, and her cock was throbbing beneath her panties.

“Lyn…” She whimpered, not sure what to say. “I’m sorry…”

“Don’t be.” Lyn panted, pulling her hands back as she sat up.

She guided Florina’s hands to rest on her hips, and then to move inwards.

Florina gasped as Lyn pressed one of her hands over her crotch, her heart racing.

“I want it too.” Lyn whispered, biting her lip as Florina palmed her erect cock through her clothes.

Lyn… wanted her? That, it shouldn’t have been news after they exchanged declarations of love, but Lyn was so kind, so strong, so… perfect…

And she wanted Florina.

Florina’s legs were shaking the entire walk back to Lyn’s tent, only barely managing to keep herself upright because of her help.

They had barely closed the flap behind them before their hands were once again wandering across each other’s bodies, and they almost crumpled to the ground as Florina lost her balance.

Lyn though, managed to catch her, staring down into her eyes in the dim light.

Florina couldn’t quite meet her gaze, her eyes locked on Lyn’s lips.

Her eyes fluttered close as Lyn leaned back in, once again guiding her to lay down against the ground as she pressed their lips together.

Only this time, despite the grass remaining beneath their feet, they were shielded from the skies above, as well as from their compatriots.

They were alone together, sharing this beautifully intimate moment, and Florina wouldn’t have had it any other way.
