Viktor doesn't like Christmas. Every year, the same routine, the same songs, the same people.

Except this year, he had met Jayce and Mel.

Work Text:

Viktor hated Christmas. Not in the same way as the Grinch. He didn't hate Christmas because of trauma, a lack of parents. He hated the holiday because of his bad leg. Every Christmas Eve, he had to have a check-up at the hospital. So he stayed in a hospital room until the next day, and had done so for more than thirty years now. As time passed, Christmas had just become another day like any other, the only difference was that the whole world seemed to become ten times more annoying that day. Until he met Jayce, and his girlfriend, Mel.

Viktor worked in a prosthetics laboratory. One day, the head of the laboratory, Heimerdinger, arrived accompanied by Jayce and Mel. Jayce was an inventor, a brilliant mind like Viktor. Mel was as much a sponsor as the one who happily sketched both men's ideas. The three quickly became friends, and Viktor learned that Jayce and Mel were dating. He therefore refrained from any flirting, even if the desire was not lacking when he saw Jayce arriving at the lab just out of bed, his hair still disheveled, followed by the divine Mel, who had taken the time to arrange.

This year, like every year, he arrived at the hospital on December 24 to have his winter checkup. Viktor was wrapped in a long black coat and wore a blue scarf that Jayce and Mel had given him for his birthday. He quickly took off his clothes when a nurse placed him in a room, and patiently waited for his battery of tests. The day passed slowly, to the rhythm of examinations, nurses, doctors. This year didn't cut it: a doctor called him ma'am even though it had been years since he had transitioned. He sighed, and rolled his neck, leaning on his cane, groaning.

“Doctor, sorry to bother, but my partner is a man.”

Viktor raised his head when he heard the soft and firm voice of Mel, who had just entered the hospital room with Jayce, who was carrying a bouquet of flowers and some bags. He suddenly felt very vulnerable, naked, in front of them, in the hospital, and had Mel just called him her "partner"?

“Excuse me, miss, but who are you?” asked the doctor.

“Viktor’s girlfriend, me and Jayce are here to visit him since his checkup is supposed to be finished.” Mel noticed, looking at her gold watch.

The doctor remained speechless for a few minutes before leaving the room, leaving the three protagonists together. Jayce quickly put down the bouquet and the bags before covering Viktor's shoulders with a blanket. Mel took the opportunity to turn the latch on the door, and turned on the heating.

“What are you doing here, it's Christmas Eve, shouldn't you be with Jayce's mom?” Viktor asked in a trembling voice, a little disconcerted by the turn of events.

Mel laughed softly, amused by the scientist's embarrassed red cheeks. Viktor was not a shy person, but seeing him modest was quite amusing for the woman.

“Ximena went on vacation, so Jayce and I were going to have a holiday alone.” she explained. “Heimerdinger told us that every year you spent Christmas alone in the hospital, so we decided to spend it with you.”

“You didn't have to, I don't like Christmas that much.”

“Exactly." Jayce rose up. "We don't either, it's mainly my mother who likes the party. For once we can just eat a good meal without too much fuss.”

Viktor stayed silent a bit, before Mel reassured him.

“We already knew you were trans, don’t worry. We don’t mind, why would we?” she chuckled.

“You saw me naked…” grumbled Viktor.

“About that, it’ll be nice to do that again.” Jayce smirked.

“Huh?”

“Jayce, in a very awkward way, is asking you to be part of our relationship, Viktor.” Mel explained, smiling softly.

“Why?”

“Well you're very interesting, intelligent, we get along well, and me and Jayce like you a little more than friendship.”

Viktor blinked, and sat up on the bed, breathless.

“Don’t feel pressured. It’s okay if you’re not into polycule, we would totally understand.” Jayce added in a reassuring low voice.

Viktor shivered, wrapped himself a little more in the blanket that his lab partner had placed on his shoulders, and looked for a long time in silence at Mel and Jayce who were smiling tenderly at him. He then remembered the many times the two had been helpful to him, tender, more than friends should be. Mel's massages, Jayce's services, even at odd hours. The time Viktor had jammed his knee, across town, and the two had rushed to pick him up, even though they had just woken up. He suddenly felt a little stupid. He had been oblivious to the couple's efforts. Of their attempts at flirting, of their kindness.

“You love me…?”

He gasped as he saw the couple nod in unison.

“And you want me to join your couple?”

“We could be the coolest throuple ever!” cheered Jayce.

His joy made Mel and Viktor laugh softly, before the latter nodded.

“Alright, I feel like I’m dreaming. This might be the nicest Christmas Eve I’ve ever had.”

The other two wasted no time helping Viktor into bed, before surrounding him and cuddling him. They held each other for a long time before Jayce kissed Viktor's neck, lighting a soft fire in Viktor's stomach. Mel covered them with a blanket, to give them a little more warmth and privacy.

“Not in a hospital, Jayce.” Mel scolded him.

The man whined and nuzzled against Viktor, making him chuckle.

“But Viktor looks so delicious this way.” he grumbled.

“Control your dick, I swear.” the woman sighed. “We’ll take care of him that way when we’ll be home.”

“Home?” asked Viktor.

“Well, you’ll move in, right?”

He hadn’t thought of that, but now that Mel had said it, he was eager to do so, and nodded, smiling. The other two smiled as well, before the woman got up to bring their Christmas Eve meal. She and Jayce had been looking for something to eat at a deli, and Viktor felt like he was in for a treat. They spent the evening eating, chatting and watching television while staying close to each other.

They left the hospital the next day at noon, after Viktor received his results. They passed a Christmas market, where Mel and Viktor begged Jayce to buy them hot chocolates and churros. The man barely resisted his partners, and it was all for form. If he could, he would burn his credit card for Mel and Viktor's beautiful green and amber eyes. They each bought a key ring to match the other two, and took a ride on the Ferris wheel.

They finally came home, talking, laughing and teasing each other. They had decided to move Viktor the next day, and to help him return his apartment to its owner. According to Viktor, they were going to have to paint one or two walls white and fill in a few holes. Jayce had even promised to work shirtless, to the delight of his partners, who whistled at the idea. Jayce was a little red, a bit amused to see Mel and Viktor agreeing with the treat was his body.

They spent their Christmas day cooking, talking, laughing and watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas. In the evening, finally resting, they were pressed against each other in bed, Viktor in the middle of the other two, Jayce on his left and Mel on his right. He shivered as Jayce kissed his neck, while Mel slid a hand down his stomach and down under his borrowed pajama pants. After a night of pleasure, Viktor confirmed in his mind that it was undoubtedly the best Christmas of his life, while his partners slept, cuddled against him.
