“Clodagh has booked us a week holiday next year, and you’ll be babysitting Quinn. So it’s the least I can do.” Sorcha tapped away at her phone, avoiding eye contact with Charlotte, hiding the smirk that curled onto her lips.
Charlotte beamed, her face lighting up with delight. “Awwww,” she exclaimed, genuinely touched by her friend’s thoughtful gesture. But then, a flicker of confusion crossed her features, not recalling signing up to babysit. “Wait, what?”
“I still can’t believe you were going to trade our day off! I would’ve watched the girls.” Mia huffs into the phone she was holding up to her ear.
“Well, luckily Sorcha saved me from that, but I’ll have to babysit Quinn for a whole week to trade.” Charlotte was making her way down to the nursery’s front doors where Mia said she would meet her.
“Huh,” Mia contemplated for a moment. “Well, for future reference, I’m happy to help.” A small smile curled onto the redhead’s lips. “Kids love me.” She hadn’t gotten the chance to show off her babysitting skills yet, and she was ready to prove her talent to Charlotte.
“I’m sure they do, I just don’t want to throw the girls in too fast when the divorce isn’t even final yet. But we’ll plan a fun girls day in the next few months, if that’s okay?” Charlotte bit her lip, quietly awaiting her girlfriend’s response. The idea that the girls might not get along with Mia terrified her.
“Okay, get your butt down here. I’ll see you in a minute.” Mia’s tone was more on the playful side which made Charlotte relax a little.
They exchanged heartfelt “I love yous” before ending the call, both eager to reunite in person.
