Chapter Text
Drip, drip, drip.
The blue haired girl stared down at the dripping, blood drip, dripping from her arm, the cutter with a stain now.
After a few seconds she covered her arm again with some band-aids. Step, step, stepping out her small cottage, situated right on top of the tree, Firelight tree. She had begged Ekko to let her have her own small hut hidden away from everyone. After a lot of begging, and a quick fuck or two, she finally got her home.
Should’ve gone deeper
Probably would’ve jinxed it
Jinx
Jinx
Jinx
Jinx
Blue hair fell to the ground, strands curled in her fingers as she pulled, pulled the feelings, pulled the voices, pulled the pain.
Scars covered her arms and thighs, scars hidden in her usual thick long gloves and pants. Scars that covered the real her, scars that he had kissed so lovingly, scars which he had called beautiful.
Jinx quickly shakes those thoughts off, adjusted her hair, and decided to walk out of the hut. The outside was more noisy that she had expected it to be, firelight kids running around, playing, screaming, the teens doing stupidly risky tricks on their hoverboards, the older talking and giggling.
They all seemed so happy.
Why couldn’t she be happy?
Why did she had to suffer? To hurt?
“Stupid firelights” The blue haired girl murmured as she walked away from that place, wandering around until she reached Ekko’s workshop.
Ring
The bell did it’s thing, and so did Jinx.
Ring
A quiet smirk appeared on the white haired boy lips. There was only one person that could come over to his workshop to only play with the bell.
Ring
“Hey, space boy, I’m not here to be ignored.”
Usually, the same routine would happen, Ekko would smile and then Jinx would sit down and they would talk about improving the z-drive. Then Jinx would talk about making a gun that shoots other guns and he would tell her that it was too dangerous. The next couple hours would be spend with them working as they moved their heads and sometimes danced to Jinx’s music choice.
But this time it was different, there was no smile, there was no sudden jump on the colorful chair that casually rested next to his.
There was nothing.
The silence was so intense that it could be broken by a pair of old, rusty scissors.
Jinx was so used to her old routine of self-harm that she forgot the important part.
She forgot her arm warmers.
The only thing that could manage to cover everything that she wanted to cover.
It wasn’t there.
And Ekko had noticed.
“You said you had stopped” His rough, deep voice said; she loved that voice.
She suddenly felt so small, oh how wonderful it would be to be a firelight, a small, useless creature with no meaning at all, which only stayed alive for a few days and then perished.
But, no.
Sadly, Jinx was more of a crow person. A crow, a bad luck symbol, like a jinx, like her.
“Jinx”
Her eyes snapped up, little man stood in front of her, eyes on her, his back hunched, lips trembling.
Jinxed it, like always.
A careful hand reached towards her shoulder, a simple touch, that’s all it took for her to break.
“I’msorryI’msorryI’msorryI’msorryI’msorryI’msorryI’msorry”
Powder, that’s who she sounded like.
Oh, how she missed Powder.
“It’s alright, baby, we’ll work this out.”
He was too kind for her.
Ekko deserved the world and more.
And she would do anything to give it to him.
Even end her own for him to get it.
“I jinxed it.” Shaky voice said, purple tears down her now rosy cheeks.
“You didn’t jinx it, you’re sick, Janna I should’ve known before leaving you alone.” He sounded so worried.
He shouldn’t be.
Not even Vi cared about her.
Didn’t care to invite her to her Piltie wedding.
Didn’t to say they were adopting.
Didn’t care.
He was right, she was sick.
Sick of life.
———————
Jinx had always loved the soft couch in Ekko’s little workshop. It had been the same that Vander used to have. It had been the same in which they shared their first kiss when they were kids, the same in which they shared their first time.
It was the same couch in which she sat now, her cuts being carefully wrapped, soft white gauze around her itchy wrists.
Hazel brown eyes staring deep into her purple ones.
Life staring into death.
Good into bad.
Ekko to Jinx.
It had always been like that.
The boy lifted her arms, kissing the gauze softly.
“I’m so sorry, Pow.” His voice had cracked, he didn’t hide it, and she didn’t comment about it.
No response left her lips, there wasn’t one needed. Ekko moved closer and sat next to her.
Purple tears, induced with shimmer, rolled down her rosy cheeks.
He had that same look in his eyes. The same when he decided to take her in he made sure she ate properly and got enough sun.
“Mother hen.” She used to call him, sticking her tongue out like a toddler, sometimes he would bite it playfully.
But this wasn’t like the other times.
“I’m tired, Ekko.” The amount of times she had actually called him by his name could be count by her fingers, not including her missing one.
“I know, baby”
Knees moved up, against her chest as they were hugged by skinny, pale arms. Blue clouds covered one, covering scars.
“I was thinking of moving.” The white haired boy said carefully, he didn’t want to hit on her abandonment issues.
Magenta eyes shot up, trembling, more tears coming down.
“You’re leaving?” Her shaky voice asked, weak.
“We are leaving.” Ekko said, his soft voice contrasting with her rough skin as he wiped her tear filled cheeks.
“Where would we go?”
He just said “we” because you freaked out
He hates you
He wants to leave you
Just like Vi
“He didn’t say that.” Her voice hissed as she looked to the side, sketchy lines made spiky hair, oval eyes, angry face.
“Hey, listen to me, Pow. You’re not happy here, I’m not happy here, we have a whole world to explore, together.” Big hand, with long, thick fingers caressed her face.
Lies
Lies
Lies
Lies
“I’m sure you don’t want to raise our kids here.”
“What?”
Tears had stopped, cheeks suddenly burning.
Kids? She hadn’t planned that.
Not since her.
“In a future, I mean, it’s okay if you don’t want to think about it now, it’s too early”
If it was with him she’d have all the kids she could, the thought of being filled with his kids made her-
No
He was joking
He doesn’t like you
At least not like that
Who would want kids with a jinx?
“Only if you want to, I’m not forcing you to anything, Pow” Soft, caring voice, only he knew how to calm her with his voice.
“Yes”
The couch squeaked as the girl with short hair moved closer.
It squeaked again as he moved close.
It squeaked at she sat on his lap.
It squeaked as she pushed him back and kissed him, rough but loving kisses, her teeth sinking into his bottom lip, blood leaking out as she sucked it happily. Her wrists caressed by his hands.
Ekko pulled her up, supporting her by the thighs, which quickly wrapped around his waist as they kissed. Her hips bucking against his as he made the way towards the bedroom, door slamming shut behind him.
Everything was going to be fine.
At least for now.
